Really? The only gluten-free item is a cookie? I expected more from such a praised bakery. :-(

First timer and it was amazing… Walking in the door, picking what I wanted to try, clean, nice decor, excellent customer service down to the owner by the way HAPPY BIRTHDAY JEN🎂🎁🎈!!!!!! The best part for me was Jen gave us a taste of the glaze croissant and brought one when the 2nd part of my other was ready the young lady says. “” Angel back for more” and I definitely was back for me…… In fact I’ll be back tomorrow. If you haven’t tried born & bread bakery U HAVEN’T BEEN BORN……

Awesome bakery spot in Lakeland. Everything is fantastic and worth the 30 min drive when I go. Check out their menu ahead of time and order ahead as they do run out of things especially their amazing sourdough. Trust me Everything is wonderful. Very reasonably priced for all the hardwork & love they put into it all. Their breakfast Sammies are bar none! There almost always a line and wait but they move thru the line quickly. Thats how good it is, worth the wait. Do yourself a favor and check this hidden gem out.

Awesome baked goods, but pre-ordering online doesn't appear to have any real benefit. It's almost like you're just telling them what you want from home in advance without having to tell them in person at the counter.... and that is virtually the only difference I saw in what would have been the experience NOT ordering online: Waiting in the sun for 50 minutes because the inside is completely SLAM-packed only *80* minutes past opening time. You can barely squeeze past all the people in there, it's so claustrophobic. When a place has you waiting almost an HOUR for your food even though you PRE-ORDERED it online (breakfast sandwiches I'd understand waiting for on the spot, but can't you at least pack my confectioneries in advance?)... and the place itself hasn't even been open for 90 minutes... you start wondering after a while if it's worth the money, the time, and (in mine and my spouse's case) the slightly out-of-the-way drive. I don't want to end the review on a sour note so I will say that our breakfast sandwiches, extra gooey cinnamon bun, and gold-flaked hazelnut-praline cruffin (very upper-crust, pun intended) were truly delicious food. Born & Bread: You bake amazing stuff that's more or less worth the hype, but please do something about your flow of customer traffic. It's a MESS there.

First time coming to this place and I ordered online to make sure I could get what we wanted but they were closed when we arrived. Nothing on their website indicated that they were closed for "Summer Break", and we assumed everything was fine since nothing was indicated otherwise other than their Instagram account, which we found out about after the fact and wouldn't have known about since we don't use social media often. Now we are left with a charge on our card and nothing to show for it. Definitely a let down for a first time try out of this place.

I visited this bakery for the first time yesterday, and I was absolutely delighted with everything we purchased. Hailey was incredibly friendly and knowledgeable and helped us make our choices—everything looked so good that we wanted one of each! She provided detailed descriptions of each item, which made our selection process much easier and more enjoyable. The only downside was that the entrance from the alley was hard to find. Some signage to guide patrons would be very helpful. Despite this small inconvenience, the quality of the pastries and the excellent customer service made the experience wonderful. I’ll definitely be returning!

Most of the pastries and desserts are freaking amazing! absolutely LOVE that they have vegan options. A simple $400 Monitor on the wall w an Ipad could solve some of the barely heard name calling got your order and having to wait in line to see what they have. But the bread and pastries is worth the long line and chaotic nature of it all.

My first time trying this place, i ordered for pick up once i arrived the line was rather long. I figured its just a great bakery, i waited in line once i approached the counter the employee rushed me i couldn’t ask a question regarding the items i suppose its due to the heavy traffic she asked if i wanted to add a coffee again i couldn’t really ask too many questions so i decided to try the regular iced coffee. you can probably get better iced coffee at a Gas station it tasted like the worst coffee you can imagine trying, to add a little insult she hands me a tiny ramekin with only creamer no sugar not even would you like anything else? again i assume it’s because there rushing to get through all the customers i turn around to see if there’s anywhere i can get sugar more creamer nothing and at 5 bucks for a small the burn was a little more. the pastries are okay not enough to make me want to try them out again.

I waited for 44 minutes for 2cookies and 2 crookies and a muffin. They told me if I wanted 4 cookies I would have to wait for 10 minutes. They only had 2 ready. I told them I would just take two so I don’t have to wait. They said they would call my name when the order was ready. I sat for 28 minutes for items that were already made but took 28 minutes to put in a bag. I went to the front counter to see if there was a problem and they said the order wasn’t finished. It was done in 44 minutes. Awful service all they had to do is tell me I wouldn’t have waited that long and I was late for an appointment.

This is somewhere to pre-order for take out. There is outside space to dine but uncomfortable in 100 degree Temps. The inside is taken up with people waiting for their take out orders Not much of a selection when I ordered. But I could have missed out since it was lunch time with no lunch items available, just breakfast. Be prepared to wait. The cheese Danish was amazing. Customer service was lacking. I recently tried the almond croissants from several well-established bakeries in the Tampa Bay Area (State Flour, Sucré Table, and Jamison B. DoughJoe), and without a doubt, Born & Bread's almond croissant is the best! Their pastries are heavenly, the staff is fantastic, and the atmosphere is incredible! Pretty freaking incredible bakery. This gem in Lakeland just served me the most decadent pastries. I got an assortment of buttery, flaky croissants; some with chocolate, some with fruit, but all so sinfully delicious. I don't love the tiny space. The place was overflowing with people, but the service was outstanding. I didn't feel rushed or pushed around. I was able to look at everything and take my time. An amazing first experience. If you haven't been, GO. Just don't go when I go, I want the goods for myself. ;)

Everything is still good but sadly the price has gone up. A croissant for 5 dollars is a bit too much. And they aren't as good as a French butter croissant. I just came back from Montreal and they made authentic French butter croissants, which is savory with oozing butter and it only costs 2.50 dollars. If the croissants here tasted like the authentic French butter croissants, with oozing butter for each bite, it worth the 5 dollars. Just disappointed with the price, and the taste isn't as premium as the price. Perhaps I'm just spoiled with Canada's croissants which was extraordinary, both taste and price. Once you have tasted something better, you can't go back. Everything will just be a disappointment lol

In Lakeland, about an hour from Tampa or Orlando, this place gets rave reviews: - Open Wednesday to Saturday, 7 am to 2 pm (till 1 pm Saturdays). - Plan for about a 20-minute wait in line, but you can order online. - Menu changes daily, with seasonal goodies. They sell out fast, so order a day ahead—I missed their strawberry croissant at 11 am. - Must-tries are their croissant and cruffin. The glazed croissant was sooo good. The cruffin was crispy outside and soft inside. - Tried the Morning Vietnam cold brew, not too sweet. - Lots of parking in the rear - On Saturdays, a quick 5-minute drive takes you to Lakeland Downtown Farmers Curb Market, 8 am to 2 pm. Lots of parking, handmade stuff, fresh produce, deli treats. Cool shops like Scout & Tag.

the food /pasteries are amazing theyre different and very good the only thing is im confused as to why everyone has to wait so long for their items. most of the pasteries are already made before they open and they have like 10 employees working at a time yet we still waited about 30 minutes to get our items which was a cauliflower croissant and a muffin. i thought maybe its because they make them from scratch and bake them to order which is fine but after the 30 minutes they came out in a bag, cold . like they just grabbed the pastery and bagged them. when i look they have all the pasteries already made on the carts . so if theyre not heating up our food, why does it take 30 minutes to place 2 items in a bag. idk its weird to me and after reading the reviews i see other people have the same problem. mind you we went on a tuesday there was only maybe 4 people in the store waiting on items and we still had to wait 30min for our cold pasteries just to be placed in a bag. i could only imagine on a busy day. anyways pre order your food because if not youre going to wait 30 minutes for a cold pastery just to be bagged up. would be nice if they offered to warm up our pasteries, but the girl never asked. maybe they dont do that? i tipped 5 dollars on top of that because ive had coworkers rave about the place but im dissapointed.ive now learned to tip in cash after i recieve my food. wont make the drive here again which is a shame cause its a cute local spot.

Food is decent. Not worth the service. This has been the case on multiple occasions. This review is based on multiple visits to this establishment. What's the point in having a pre order service available, if it works so poorly. Online pre orders are pointless. Placed an order well in advance, still waited over 40 minutes to receive my order. Two items on the order! There are over ten employees working there, and they all seem to be in training. At least that's what it looks like. When receiving my order, they complimented it by butchering my name. No apologies for the wait, nor any attempts to excuse themselves for the lazy attempt of sounding out my name.

Breakfast sandwiches and pastries are fresh from scratch and melt in your mouth. Yes there's sometimes a long wait even on pre-orders. That's worth it to me. I'd rather wait for real food than a microwave chain restaurant meal.

This place calls for the proper love it deserves. The food and coffee are absolutely scrumptous. Thir revolving menu is always something good to look forward to. If I have one critic it will only be their system of pick up for pre-orders. In my opinion, pre-orders should be ready once the customer gets there, however I find myself waiting here between 15 to 25 minutes for an order I have already placed and paid for. But honestly, even a weird system like that will not deter me from coming :)

Placed a pre-order the night before because I wanted to come later in the morning and didn’t want to chance things selling out. However, pre-ordering does not mean you’ll get your food faster because I still had to wait 15 minutes past my pick-up time. The pick-up experience is also a bit confusing because they have a sign indicating where check-in for pick-up orders is, but the person who checks you in is the same person taking orders for people waiting in line, so it feels like you are cutting the line. With that said, I’m still rating a 5/5 because the food was delicious, and I loved the interior aesthetics and vibes. The sausage + hot honey breakfast sandwich ($5.75) was sweet but not overwhelming, the biscuit was soft and crumbly, and the sausage was flavorful. The churro cruffin ($4.75) was flaky and filled but also not overwhelming sweet. There’s a small parking lot in the back, and the inside has a lot of tables and seating options (bar, table, couch, etc.). Prices were reasonable (but I’m also visiting from one of the most expensive cities in the country so…).

The food and pastries here are phenomenal! I’ve been a long time customer and always enjoy new seasonal items. The glazed croissants and danishes are particularly yummy. While I’ve been many times, it seems that each visit the service becomes slower and slower. Orders placed online still are not prepared until you check in, and both times I’ve visited recently, it’s taken 25+ minutes to get my order, in spite of there being no line when I checked in. Considering that the items I’ve ordered are premade pastries that just need to be bagged, this has been quite frustrating. I love their new expanded hours and would love to make this a regular lunch spot, but the lack of efficiency in getting orders makes this quite difficult as it is too time consuming.

Not worth the wait. Waited 30 mins in line, just to place our order. All the savoury items were sold out so it was just pastries. Ordered pastries and croissants and black coffees. Waited over an hour to have cold pastries put into a bag. Not sure why it took over an hour to put food into a bag but our coffees were held hostage during the hour as well. My poor son was crying by the time we got our food. Yes, the croissants were good..... Were they wait an hour for food good, no. We spent $60 and wasted the whole morning, missed the farmers market and had to get food on the way home because we were all so hungry. All in all, not a great experience. The place is crowded and crazy busy. There is no reason pre made pastry takes over an hour to put it into a bag. Very disappointing, wish we had used our money for a sit down breakfast where our elbows were not getting knocked into and we left full. I honestly regret not asking to cancel the order, get our $60 back and go across the street and have a meal.

The bakery has a pre order register where they are fulfilled while another line is for current orders. The line takes you by their current offerings. We stuck with the goodies and got a cinnamon roll and a Boston cream. Both were extraordinary. The cinnamon rolls tasted like or favorite bakery in Utica NY ( Hemstraughs). Tender dough loads of cinnamon and topped off with vanilla frosting. Excellent!!The Boston crème dough had the same texture with loads of cream filling also remarkable. Update** March 4 We picked up our order on Sat. March 2 (I place my order online few days before) It was pretty smooth this time 👌 Favorites are: .Butternut+kale croissant tart, .Babka knot, .Apple fritter cruffin, .Quesito, .Bacon cheddar chive biscuit .Vegan peanut butter oat cold brew It was our 1st time there Saturday Feb. 10, 2024. We place our order around 12:30pm. The only thing they have left was plain croissant and a sandwich. So we ordered one of each plus a vegan coffee 😋 which it was absolutely amazingly good (1st time trying a peanut butter coffee 😋 omg) we started noticing everyone who ordered after us were leaving already 🤔 Somehow we waited around 40 mins before we decided to ask about our order😫 twice 😫 The 2nd time, I guess she was the manager or something, she apologized and offered us another coffee and juice for my daughters, which I appreciated of course. We were the last one at the store 😫 they even close the front door so nobody else got in. I was disappointed that we wasted more than 1hr a Saturday 😫 but at the same time we're happy because the coffee was so good. The sandwich was meh and the croissant was a little burnt 🤔 We will give it another chance 1st because of the vegan coffee and 2nd because I want to try another pastry. Sooooo please I'm begging you, to correct your waiting time system or whatever it is that makes a client to wait that much time 😫🙏

Don’t waste your time to preorder. When preordering, states a time that the order will be ready.. but they don’t start the order until you check in at the register. Which eliminates the convenience and only reason to preorder. 3 croissants I ordered at 8:39, said they’d be ready at 8:54. Waiting an additional 25 minutes after I checked in. Seems slightly unreasonable. That’s my sole complaint.

We recently made our first visit to Born and Bread in Lakeland. OMG!!! It was fantastic and we'll definitely be back. We went on a Saturday morning and the crowd was bonkers. Lesson learned, we'll order ahead in the future. Despite the long wait and overflowing crowd, it was so worth it. I tried the Chocolate Croissant and Babka Knot which were both fantastic. I would have liked to try their massive cinnamon roll but all they had were pre-sold so I'll have to try one on my next visit. They have different items depending on the day with some constants. Every visit can be a new amazing experience.

My first time it’s very crowded but everyone was there wanted something good. I had the Bentons breakfast sandwich, I love Benton’s bacon and ham it’s the real thing from Tennessee. And everything else looked great.

Best Bakery in Florida. I live in Miami and have come across a few good bakeries - one in Key Biscayne being my favorite. But B&B is by far superior. They do justice to the classics (the crack of their plain croissant when you bite into it says it all) and have a great array of less traditional - and no less delicious - baked goods. While they are known for their cruffins, it was not my favorite item of the large selection that we got. The croissant was top drawer, the scone was excellent but their croque monsieur was fantastic (and I don’t like ham). They are only open twice a week - Wednesday and Saturday I believe and only offer bread on the Saturdays. Despite being very busy - we were there at 7:30 am (half hour after opening) and there was a queue - they serve with a big smile. I believe you need to go early as they sell out of a lot by Noon. A place not to be missed if U happen to be in or near Lakeland on either those days of the week.

It's strange to write a review about a place you've never been to.. but stay with me! I live away from my hometown, and over the years my dad Cliff has given me rave reports about his experiences here on our calls. And it's not just about the bakes! In what sounds like a very busy bakery, Jenn takes the time to look out for my dad and make him feel appreciated as a customer. On his most recent visit, he tells me, she checked in with him, noting that she was glad to see him after he hadn't been in as often. He relayed that he was stopping in to pick up treats for others and shared that a health matter had kept him from coming in. Not only did she share that there is a newer item on offer that he can still enjoy, but when Jenn noticed the last one had just been purchased, she made a new batch right then and there. While I hear this dessert was absolutely delectable, I am most wowed by Jenn's thoughtfulness and genuine, heartfelt customer service. (Jenn, if you see this, I just wanted to say thanks! My dad doesn't know I left a review, but he's so happy to see your success, he even told me about your expanded hours!)

The pastries were delicious! Boston Crème Cruffin I hope is a permanent menu item. The only complaint I have is that if you pre-order JUST pastries that don’t need to be warm or coffee that is hot or cold then the order really should be prepared and waiting. My wait wasn’t that bad but people around me were visibly annoyed that they preordered and had to wait 20+ minutes. If I were the manager I would maybe change the ordering system to only allow pastries to be pre-order OR just make things ready for the pick up time and if they are not 100% fresh then at least it would be fast

Still waiting for our order after 30 minutes. Tons of people working in the back, but very little food coming out. Everything that that I ordered was already made and on the rack. Highly disorganized. I’m sorry I tipped now. Hopefully this is worth the wait And I get home sometime today.

Excited, phenomenal, love love love, deliciousness!!!! We stumbled upon this place by mistake and you will never know the happiness it brings us. We moved to Florida from New Jersey and haven’t been able to find a bakery with pastries that compare, until we found Born & Bread!!! The quality is top notch. The price is unbelievable for the quantity you get… believe me it’s sooooo worth it. The atmosphere and customer service is up there with the Ritz Carlton… so that should tell everything you need to know. Get yourself here ASAP!!!

Want to start off by saying they have very great pastries I’m impressed. It all started when a young lady at Lake original bought us some pastries I had that we ordered some about $26 worth of cinnamon rolls for my children were supposed to pick up the next day. I had a death in the family. then at that point, I was not able to pick up my order of cinnamon rolls. I came down to see if there could be a replacement or a store credit of some sort. They told me that I would not be able to get a replacement or anything if there was nothing that they can do so therefore, I basically just lost out on money that they can’t do a store credit for
