First time there with some coworkers, and it was great. Good food, the server was very friendly. Can't wait to go again!

Grouper cheeks are fantastic. I had them grilled. Steamed Gulf shrimp were also tasty. Friendly service. Good prices. Fresh good. Clean restaurant. A true local gem.

Hands down best chowder ever. A must visit if you're in town.

Everything was good service was not so Good gave us bill never was asked if we wanted dessert don't. Know if he was new but if he is he needs more training

I'm a Pescetarian, have been for several years, after being a weekly customer for over 1 year, at season's end they started a Lobster Special on Wednesday, the 1st time I tried it, it was great, the 2nd time I noticed there was no water in the plate which was strange for a Fresh Steamed Lobster, opening the Claws the meat stuck to the shell, which is Evidence of a Reheated Lobster. The next week I called ahead asking for the Manager, I mentioned the Dry Plate & the Meat stuck to the Shell, she was very adamant stating all our Lobsters are Fresh, to which I stated if they were they wouldn't stick to the shell, she requested I ask for her when I came in, which I did, she brought out a Fresh Live Lobster showed it to me, brought it to to the kitchen to be cooked & it came out 10 minutes later, water in the plate, fresh & flavorful. I thought it was settled until I came in Wednesday, 7/31, the server took my order, I went to my car to retrieve my glasses, sat down & the Lobster was served to me within 90 seconds of giving my order. As soon as it was served, I noticed the dry plate, I cracked open the claw, it was difficult to remove the Meat as it was stuck to the Shell, I called the server asking to see the Manager, she came out stating "Oh, you again, I thought we straightened this out the last time", I showed her the dry plate & the Lobster stuck to the Shell, stating this was reheated in the microwave, she went on shouting "We don't use the microwave, it's nowhere near the Lobsters" and she left. She was likely right, when I turned the Lobster over it was Hot to the Touch & Bone Dry, indicative of a Lobster that was reheated. The other Claw was like Rubber & Tasteless, as was the Tail. Apparently, they cook the Lobsters before they're ordered, placing them on a lit burner in a pan, the only reason I would receive it in less than 90 seconds after I ordered it, dried out stuck to the Shell. One of the servers stated it was cooked too long in the steamer as the reason for the meat sticking to the shell, if she had any experience cooking she would know that the meat will not stick to the shell if steamed. The problem being, the Manager is inexperienced in cooking, how do you place someone in the position of Manager if they Do Not know how to cook? I retired after 33 years in perishable Meat & Seafood. She may think she can get over on someone inexperienced but not me.

Chowder was okay. Nothing spectacular. Atmosphere could have been a little cleaner. Service was okay

The food was good but our server was one of the rudest people I have ever met. I would say she did not care about who she offended or anyone there.

Nice low-key bar atmosphere. There are lots of pictures of fish and other local things on the walls. It’s fun to walk around and look. Captain Eddie served some of the best seafood on my trip. I had the entrée with scallops and mahi mahi. The scallops were large and decadent. Some of the best I’ve ever had. The blackened mahi mahi was also delicious. We had calamari as an appetizer. It was good but not the best I’ve ever had. It could use a little spice. The rum runner drink was very good according to one of the other diners at our table. We ordered key lime pie to go. It was good pie but not the best I had on my trip. I like a very tart key lime pie. The key lime at Blue Dog Bar and Grill was better.

Was excited to go here as I saw they had hogfish on the menu. I love hogfish unfortunately it was over cooked here, the other food we ordered was ok nothin to brag about. One time stop for us here...

Very friendly staff and, perhaps by happenstance, also friendly patrons. The food was above average. Not the BEST I've ever had, but on the higher end of what I've had locally. In fact, I would drop Pop's down a star and let Eddie's reign. Pop's wins on location, Eddie's wins on food. Wife had Grouper Cheeks and fries which she enjoyed. I had signature Grouper sandwich and fries, which was pretty damn good. We both shared hush puppies (great), alligator bites (OKAY), and each had a drink (mocktail mango and strawberry lemonade, but added vodka), those were stellar. Outside seating was very nice. Ultimately, that's 100% going to be our next Friday date lunch spot. Highly recommend.

Food wasn't hot and the service was not very good

The food was terrible. Crab dip was sub par, bottom of the barrel chips, extra chewy. Lobster bisque taste was good but came out cold. Crab cake dinner, the worst crab cakes I've ever had, came with 2 hush puppies that were okay got the rice and veggie side literally frozen veggies in yellow rice 🤮 For the price, totally not worth it and was extremely disappointed. Manager Cody was great and our server gave great service, Destiny. Would I ever go back, absolutely not. Save your money and go somewhere else. I expected so much more with the reviews. Hate leaving negative reviews but also dont want someone to waste their time going there. My margarita was the best part and still sub par.

Delicious fish. Waitresses are very friendly & bring the food quickly. We bring our small dog, & they always have fresh ice water for him. The only experience that made our meal less enjoyable one time is the chain smokers that sat near us outside. Two other tables moved, but we couldn't go inside because of our dog. Very miserable, we are both allergic to smoke. Very inconsiderate table.

At first they told is 15 minutes but after this the person in charge saw us waiting&there was empty tables available he said bring them to a table.After waiting another 10minutes the waitress finally came to take our order.Then waited another 15 minutes.Ordered the flounder&it was cold,unseasoned&lightly coated &fried.I sent it back 2 get redone,but it tasted the same except it was hot.I just wouldn't go there again.they also should clean up the place,nasty vents nasty ceiling,windows were also dirty.

They have frog legs. All the dishes that we ordered were dip fried. Not too many healthy options. It is okay place.

Prices double from online site I saw. No price on menu for special. Waitress lied about telling me prices. Said I couldn’t get special takeout but then said I could. Tried to give back when I found out price but wouldn’t take back. Would never humiliate myself there again. Definitely not worth any of it. Don’t go!

They brought the appetizers before the drinks. The lobster bisque was mundane, at the least. Fried calamari was flavorless. we asked for lemons, and they took forever, i dont usually like to be so harsh with my reviews. Because I've worked in the service industry for a long time but leaving a nice comment won't help anybody, especially the business. I hope my next visit will be better. I'm sure of it .

Spectacular as hell! Went in for some drinks with a buddy and had the most delightful service from a red head very handsome male bartender. He really knew his stuff and treated everyone wonderfully and was full of charisma. Will be back for that Eddies charm!

I have never been here before until today but the service is fast, friendly and not to be rivaled. I had the snapper and gator bites plate and it was absolutely delicious! I live 45 minutes north of nokomis but would make the drive if nothing else but to eat here again in the near future. I’m very pleased and my family agrees that Anna Maria Oyster Bar has nothing on this place. 10-10 for sure!!!

We've been going to Capt. Eddies 20+ years. We see a decline in food quality and quantity.

The best place to go in venice!!! I love their fish dip and sauce you can get Togo. Everything is what's fresh and if you want a drink with the best outside atmosphere they have entire outside tiki bar with live music!! 🎶 🎵

Absolutely hands down a Fantastic restaurant! They have the BEST clam chowder this South of New England, and I was born there! Lol! Outside seating has music, and things are just relaxed and fun! HIGHLY recommend! Food Is AAAMMMAZING!!! The selection of food is awesome, and they have their own Seafood Market! We Love This Place! Don't forget the hot crab dip! 😊

Food was great, we had a large group, every one enjoyed the food, hot crab dip good appetizers,service very accomidating for us.

I visited this place recently. I spent nearly $100 on two entries and an appetizer for my wife and me. The food was mediocre at best and not nearly worth the cost. Save yourself the headache and eat elsewhere.

Didn't even stay long enough to order! I sat down at the bar, in a very slow atmosphere. It took 10 minutes to get spoken too, after I finally had to ask for a menu, and I still couldn't even get a water after he should've realized I was new. Then to make it worse, the guy next to me decides to light a cigarette sitting right next to me! If anyone doesn't know, inhaling someone else's ciggerate smoke isn't a great experience! Definitely not a good experience...

Stopped in had 30 minute wait that turned into 5 minutes. Super fast seating. All the service staff are amazing, very friendly. Our server was very informative helping us to make our food choice. Had grouper cheeks, alligator bites, snapper, zucchini, hush puppies. The fish was cooked to perfection with great flavor. I highly recommend and will definitely be returning.

Service was amazing, food came out in record time, faster than fast food. Food was fresh, but average fried seafood. Only complaint was the bean salad which was flavorless and kinda gross. Would definitely go again.

It was just ehhh. I still think it’s the best all around place to go eat some good fish near Venice and definitely the best with Gator bites but the service was average and it was really crowded with no where good to park. We probably just went on a bad week.

For the prices charged at least the food should come out warm or hot. Cold fried shrimp, fries and fried zucchini suck when they're cold. They changed the smoked fish dip recipe too. No smoke and too much pickle brine to mask the taste. Will never come back. Requested to talk to a manager and crickets.

Awesome lunch and service. Had oyster baskets $16 and captain platters $26. The shrimp were tiny, only disappointment. Coleslaw, fries and hush puppies we're all great. The oysters by far were the best we've had in 10 years or more.

I grew up in Venice and on Captain Eddys. This place has grown into a must visit location. The food was excellent and the outside tiki bar / entertainment was great. Cant say enougj good things about Captain Eddys

Would do a 2.5 on the food but unable to to do so on Google. The fried shrimp sandwich was good. Lobster roll underwhelming, it was very small and full of shells, it was also watery and lacked flavor. To make up for it they gave us pie without asking which i dont each. The waitress was okay, but gave "I would rather not be bothered" vibes. We weren't given the option to sit outside which we didn't know existed until we were leaving. Not to mention the toilet in the bathroom was broken. Won't be returning.

Captain Eddies is a super laid back sea food restaurant in the center of Nokomis. It has delicious, super fresh fish throughout the menu in various kind. Awesome dishes, great atmosphere but beyond everything the service is simply outstanding. Everyone here is super nice. 😊 they also have a fish market. Bough fish here many times and it was amazing. I highly recommend this restaurant to you for any occasion.

Great place for fresh and local seafood and the standard favourite dishes like coconut shrimp.

Stopping by for lunch at Captain Eddie’s is the best time to visit. We usually do soups and/or apps (including raw oysters and fish dip), along with the basket meals, all of which are discounted during daytime hours. Food is solid, cooked to order with preparation options. We like all of the variety. Fish market is always on point, although we usually just dine-in onsite. Captain Eddie’s also have their own line of hot sauces, which are impressive. We often buy bottles to take home. Outstanding happy hour drink specials, one of the very best in the Venice/Nokomis area too!

We went here for dinner....service was quick and excellent. The food was fresh and good and the waitress was top notch!!!! Thank you for a wonderful meal!

Captain Eddie's is a long ingrained Bar/restaurant that has been loved by the local for a long time. Definitely worth a try

My fiancé got the Captain’s platter; it was small, the fried food was falling apart and wet and the French fries were old. He ended up paying $25 & said it wasn’t worth it

We eat here about once a week. The seafood is always wonderful. The servers take good care of us. We love their Blackened Mahi, Scallops, Rock Shrimp and more.

Service was slow, we were done with our drinks and the appetizers hadn't arrived yet. Waitress never checked back with us. So we paid for our drinks and left.

The best mussels and grouper in the area. Great staff and atmosphere, we always enjoy the live music.

It was ok. I ordered frog legs, and they really had no taste. Only went there because my neighbor gave us a gift card.

We were cheated. Went to the fish market at Eddie's last week; Our FIRST visit ever to Eddie's. Ordered 2 pounds of grouper cheeks costing just over $60.00 to find out when we got home that the fish chunks we mixed with grouper cheeks. To add insult to injury I tipped them 18% FOR TAKE OUT. I sent them an email directly; No Response.

We first sat outside and the service was terrible. We got as far as our drinks and I asked for a table inside. The inside waitress was wonderfull!! We had Lobster for valentine's day as a special. The lobster tail was very chewy and tough. It was a whole lobster. The claws were fine. The sides were not that good accept for the cold slaw. We went early enough in the day that it wasn't crowded. So no excuses for the outside waitress. First time there and possibly last. I think the lobster was way overcooked!

I hope this place never changes. My Dad loved this place. The service good and the food is delicious and reasonably priced.

Love this place! Best Florida atmosphere you could ask for on dry land! The Stone Crab Claws are what I came for today, as always in the past! I can't get enough of them and C.E. certainly provides!! They have a daily happy hour 2 for 1 from 4-6 that a friend and I enjoy from time to time. Been coming here since moving here April 2023.

Excellent food and service. I highly encourage anyone on vacation in the area try it like we did.

Had the stuffed flounder and lobster bisque. Flounder was very tasty and filling. The bisque was too thick for my taste but the flavor was good. My server, Ruby, was wonderful. She was super attentive and genuinely personable. I watched her wait on a couple of other tables close to me and she made everyone feel so welcome.

Food was ok. Hogfish was a surprise to see on the menu.

First visit and hopefully not the last! Enjoyed the Salmon BLT with Cucumber Salad lunch special, and it was absolutely delicious. Price was fair, service was great, and the sandwich was perfect. The crab dip appetizer was also yummy!

To start off the parking situation is horrible, had to park 5 blocks away in a park. We were a party of six and only 1 member said their meal was "alright" I had the dinner special which was stuffed flounder, there was little if any crab meat and was drenched in a sauce that not only hid the fish but also any taste. Other meals were the crab cakes which were thin and mostly fillers. The only bright spot was the hush puppies ,if you are on the fence I would suggest other places to go for a better dining experience.

Drinks were good but the food was awful. Rating 1 star, which is harsh, but they don’t deserve a 4.3 and I need to bring down the average. Mahi tacos were so salty, and the grouper sandwich was nearly frozen. I don’t agree with paying market price for food that is obviously frozen, or just incredibly poorly cooked. Would not visit again

Great casual dining, food was good and enjoyed the lunch.

No large oysters, only jumbos. A little too big for my liking. Many servers waiting on us. Tried to get oysters to go, but not sold by the dozen.
