We did not eat here. We went to go fishing. It cost about 5 dollars per pole 🎣 plus bait and tax. 5 people cost ~35 dollars. We fished for an hour and caught 7 small fish but none of us are serious anglers.

You can enjoy listening to live music from 12 to 8.

Fantastic, long pier that extends out into the bay. Free place to go fishing. Sufficient free parking is available. There is also a free marine science center at the end of the pier which is great for younger kids. We did not eat there but the food and drinks looked good.

The food was great, is basic, but covers burgers, seafood, kids menu, and drinks. Next door to the city pier they have a new research facility next door that my kids absolutely loved, it was interactive, and kept them entertained.

This is a nice place to hang out later in the day and enjoy the sun going down. Grab some snacks or drinks and watch the wildlife....local and otherwise. Maybe you'll see some manatees, dolphins or rays. Maybe you'll see some fishers pull in something. Either way sit down and enjoy the water.

Local mom here. My son plays baseball for a local school, Bayshore High School. The owner, Ryan, sponsored our team this year. For this visit, I had come with the coaches and team for our awards ceremony. He let the boys come out early, fish, and treated us all to lunch! I tried to pay, but I wasn't allowed. I had the Mahi tacos and would definitely get them again, made well with good fresh fish. Most of the boys got the chicken tenders, surprise, and I did try one. Very good, not weird like some! Your kids will love them. All the food ordered was a hit. We saw a manatee and a pod of dolphins swim by too. The views and atmosphere are well worth it. A nice breeze coming through and plenty of shade available. I work in healthcare and we discuss food a lot, so I will be recommending this place to everyone! I was most impressed by the generosity of the owner, Ryan. He was running the food out to us and was taking our empty baskets away. The full menu was available to us. His staff was amazing too, coming out at the end to ask how things were. These boys will never forget this day.

This is not a restaurant, it is order at the window and then eat at tables outside or walk along the pier. You have to walk across a pier from the main road to get there and then there is ocean view and people fishing. There is next to no parking where the pier starts, so either you get lucky or will have to park on the road somewhere further and walk. The quality of the food is decent, same as what you would probably get at most of the restaurants, (priced that way too) and the service is pretty quick. Beer and wine here too, reasonable priced about $5. Fried coconut shrimp was very good, grouper bites average. Would recommend if you want food quick without waiting too long and to walk around or sit outside, but not if you want an actual restaurant or be served.

This was the perfect spot to chill out and enjoy a bite to eat. You feel as if you are on private Island . Because of the location and the open structure of the venue. They also had karaoke. It was a great experience.

Took a walk out there after a while with my sister and we did not regret it. The view was remarkable! Me and my sister split the grouper bites yesterday and they were delicious! The cashier (the pregnant one) was super informative and helped us decide on those! We had a good encounter with the kitchen as well and they were all super friendly and looked as if they enjoyed doing their job lol.

Great ambience with a great sunset. Food was ok but the grouper was a bit overpriced. Unfortunately I didn't see the daily price until too late 🙈

Food was decent, a bit overpriced but that's to be expected for the area. However the service was atrocious. Our cashier, kersten, practically refused to say a word to us the entire time, resorting instead to just glaring. The other cashier on duty was rude as well, when we asked if the food was ready yet he just looked at us like we were stupid. Then when I asked for a refill, kersten filled it till it was sloshing over the top and spilling all over the entire cup and shoved it at me. Not impressed at all. Won't be going back.

Great place spent about a 1/2 a day here. Beautiful views water was fantastic!

I used to come here before the hurricane when it was an actual restaurant. I was surprised that it was a pick up window with no seating. There were kids running around with fish flopping on there poles as we were trying to eat our food on a tiny bench. I don’t know who thought it was a good idea to serve and dine while having people crowd the pier while they fish with hooks flying in the air. The food is most likely frozen and was bland. This experience closes the chapter of my family spot for dining, sadly.

City Pier Grill and Bait is located in the back. Nice relaxing location, quiet and peaceful. Terrific spot to watch dolphins and other wildlife. Not to be confused with Rod and Reel Pier that is an actual restaurant where you can sit down.

One of the highlights of our trip. Amazing pier walk to the restaurant (we saw a fever of stingrays on our second visit and several up close pelican experiences). Grouper bites were delicious and they have the most amazing Hibiscus Iced Tea. Cashier on 4/18 was so nice and friendly (cashier on return visit [blonde female] was sitting down and acted like I was bothering her with my order). Servers were extremely friendly. There was a local artist playing guitar and singing that just sealed the deal on making an AMAZING atmosphere.

Beach here isn't that great, but the pier and the couple restaurants make it a nice hangout spot.

A casual and cool place to go if your staying on AMI. Food is pretty good for being at the end of a pier, we love that they offer a vegetarian burger along side some great seafood items. Live music is nearly also on, so grab a beer and sit down for an hour of great views and good times

Wait time is awful!!!! So the mahi tacos were really good but the onion rings were burnt. I took them back to the window where kitchen staff were. They told me that the oil is at the right temp and that’s how they were supposed to be. I told them I had seen others that weren’t and that’s why I ordered them. Said I didn’t want burnt onion rings. I was told I would have to wait because they had other orders. Well I had already ordered and paid. I said no thanks and started walking away and someone yelled thanks for the attitude. Girl at the window was also rude. It’s sad because it’s a beautiful spot. There is no reason to be rude to customers.

Great atmosphere. Stops there. Grouper bites are coated in a thick greasy flavorless batter, horrible. If you want to ruin a good piece of fish do what they do. Kersten at the counter is the rudest person with a sour attitude, for no reason. She treated us like she was non human and would not look at us when she spoke, very weird. If you do not like dealing with the public get a different job.

This place is very nice clean and cozy. You get to meet nice people and the band that plays the music is so cool I’ve returned more than once on my vacation in Florida. it is a must go to

Had a delicious lunch of delicious mahi tacos and chips after coming across from Bradenton on the ferry. Wonderful to enjoy it right on the dock. Would recommend this highly!

Had the grouper bites at lunch. If I wasn't there with friends who had paid for the meal I would have sent it back. The fries were undercooked the onion rings were greasy and the fried grouper did not taste fresh and was so thickly battered and greasy it was not edible for me. I picked off as much of the fried batter as I could but it truly was not enjoyable sorry. And definitely not worth the $25.

Great place to grab a beer and watch fishermen, pelicans etc. Try to go when there is a performer. Very limited menu, order at one counter and wait a LONG time for your number to be called. City Pier 5 stars, grill is 2 stars at best

Beautiful place to take a walk and admire the beach and music

It's on the pier, so what better view?! Tried grouper bites, and shared. We all LOVED them! 😍 Would advise to be very careful with young children running around as there aren't any barriers to the open water.

Live band, usually 4-7. Fun little Mote Marine outpost (aquarium). Decent grill food and beers. Great views of the Bay and Tampa.

All I did was ask if they had a basic fish & chips. I was told where the menu was. I again asked what they had closest to a fish & chip basket & was told to read the menu. Apparently, I was an inconvenience, so I made no purchase. Don’t work with the public if you hate people.

Very nice sin e the city rebuilt it. Great for fishing or sightseeing. Grab a bite and enjoy the sunshine. Popular spot for tourists. Can be busy if you are trying to fish.

Went mostly for the fishing but tried the food and beer. Both were good. Caught several sharks as well as small pompano as pin fish. Not a fisherman friendly pier as there is no place to hold/lean rods and the benches face inward. Staff was very friendly.

There's probably other things to talk about, but lets just cut right to it. The bathrooms are quite simply the cleanest nicest pier bathrooms in the history of pier bathrooms. Yes. The clams were delicious. Yes there's a little conservatory museumy thing. Yes,the views are amazing. But honestly you can only sit out here for hours when the bathrooms are nice. Also? There is beer.

Mixed bag. Loved the atmosphere and live music courtesy of guitarist Howie Banfield. Had the most indifferent service of my vacation here. Destiny who took my order wasn't very helpful and kind of mechanical. Seems like a nice person overall but could be nicer as most hospitality industry workers are here. They wouldn't fix my order of fish tacos that had alota extra stuff I didn't want on it, and I wasn't asked when I placed my order if I wanted everything on it. It seemed expensive for what the portion size was. Grilled shrimp however were tasty. Atmosphere is great out on the pier with peaceful, relaxing views. I was taken aback by their refusing to give me a trash bag so I could use it as a makeshift poncho when it started raining even after I offered to pay for em! What?! It's a nice vibe out on the pier other than this place that needs to work on their customer service skills. Hope they improve in this area because service definitely affects one's enjoyment of a dining experience even if it's casual dining.

A great time had each time we visited, which was multiple times a day in some cases. The first mate of the pier, Ben, is a true gem. He exudes positive energy and vibes; an instant connection with the family. He went above and beyond to ensure we had a great time fishing. Can't say enough about him! The overall scene of the pier is very chill and neighborly. The grill has good food, and the evenings include live music (e.g., John Prine, Beatles, Jimmy Buffet covers). The Marine Science Education Center on the pier has several aquariums and a sea creature touch pool. This pier has it all, really! We may vacation on Anna Maria next year just to hang on the pier...

Here at noon today. Didn't see the no food on Mon & Tue. Sign. Guy was no lazy to answer if there was food or not. Just tapped at the glass like a jerk. Owner should be embarrased. Should be a pleasant place to come to. Make a bigger sign.

Awesome place, live music, perfect scenery and great food. Mote Aquarium Learning Lab is AWESOME. Staff is friendly and accommodating. Never a bad night on the pier. Best french fries anywhere on island or off!

I miss bringing family and friends to the restraunt on the old pier. I love mote, but I am not going to fight island traffic just to go there. I tried the little window serving food, and it was mehhhh. I miss my grouper sandwich.

Super cool place to chill even if you don't fish. Food is great. Drinks avaliable. Good rotation of local live musicians. We enjoyed several nights hanging out here on our vacation.

Coconut Shrimp was on point! Fresh and hot. Their chicken chicken fingers were tasty. Hush Puppies were Amazing!!! Everything was served hot and fresh. Dropping sauces were delicious too!!! Forgot to take pictures of the food!!!

The only place I found during our stay that served Key Lime pie. Five stars for food purely on that basis. Other food outlets take note!

We were there on Friday around 2 with a group of ladies, 15, for a drink. After we got our drink, a manager I am assuming, came out and said very hateful, “can you move away from the window so others can get a drink.” We were a lil startled but moved over. Then he came back out and even more rudely said “now you are blocking my sign so you need to move!” There were about 8 people in the entire place and no one coming up to the window. We all live here and was out for a bike ride celebrating a birthday. The Pier will not be on our list for the next bike ride or any other event!

Apparently no food is served on Monday or Tuesdays. No signage at entrance to pier....long walk with my cane for nothing. Staff informed but didn't seem concerned. Will not return due to poor customer relationship.

We LOVE the hush puppies with honey butter and the environment! But $72 for 3 chicken strip baskets and 2 orders of hush puppies seems to be a bit much. I understand seafood being that expensive but chicken and fries?????

Had a great lunch at the City Pier Grill and Bait. The tacos for taco Tuesday were good! Pork was a tad dry but the ingredients were fresh. The hush puppies were excellent and the orange butter served with it is phenomenal. Chowder is very tasty and fried clams were tasty and not overly greasy. Friendly employees and a great view to top it off.

Tried going here for breakfast this morning because their website said that they have breakfast from 7-11...but there was no breakfast to be found....

$12 rental for fishing rod and bait. No admin charge. Happy hour 3-7 on beer. Lots of locals come to fish in the morning and nighttime. Red snapper, sharks, etc. Best to bring your own smaller hooks to catch these bigger fish.

Used to have the best hand cut fries but they got rid of those in favor of bag bought just like everywhere else…very disappointed and hope they bring it he good ones back so I can support them again with my friends

Good food. I had the grouper sandwich and it was delicious. A little messy, but well worth it. Great view of the waterway and the Skyway bridge.

Ok, we came here on December 26, 2022. My wife and I desperately wanted fish and chips by the water, but for whatever reason, Anna Maria Island doesn't do fish and chips at any of their restaurants. Anyway, we wander around and find ourselves at the pier and at this restaurant. We decided that we would eat there because they had some fish and it'll be nice on the pier. We both order the grouper sandwich, pictured below, and thoroughly enjoyed it! It was light, crispy, and wonderfully flavorful. We don't really see the need to put this beautiful piece of grouper in a sandwich though. Throw it in on its own with some fries and slaw. That is really all you need. The reason it's 4 stars instead of 5 is due to price. The sandwich was great, but not worth the 32$ price tag. In total we spent 65$ on two items. Food was great, atmosphere is great, service was great, but definitely overpriced.

Hey there folks. If you like water and fishing and birds. Then this is the place for you. You can get lunch and a beer. You can watch the birds dive into the water to catch fish 🐟. There is a rich history for the pier and it dates back to the early 1900’s. There have been vacation homes and fruit packing houses and even during the storms they have fallen into the bay. But there has always been a structure at the end of the pier. Enjoy

Happy Hour prices are reasonable and the lady server is courteous and friendly. I did not eat there but the food sure appeared tasty.

The manager was terrible they shouldn’t accept service/support pets if they don’t actually accept it. If I have a certification and doctor written letters, then they can not deny any type of service or access to locations. Terrible service and acceptance. I’d give a 0 star rating if I could. People are cruel.

Found this place randomly while exploring the area. I did not try the food but the beer was cold and the service was great. It was nice to be able to just sit out and watch people fish while enjoying the view. Even saw a few dolphins while there. Nice place that I intend on visiting again!
