It's a great place to enjoy a meal on the water

Very relaxed and fun atmosphere. Cold beer and amazing views. Got a large order to go; however, we ended up not getting all of our order which was disappointing. We missed out on the captains platter and the Onion Tanglers. We will be back to indulge on some delish seafood. Highly recommend the soft shell crab tacos.

Food was great! Fresh, delicious and generous portions. Multi -decks right over the water are great for a relaxing lunch. Fast service. Will definitely come back.

I hear the sea food is great. I don't eat it. But I did have the black and blue burger and it was one of the best. We sat outside by the water. The next time I am in Florida this place will be a must to eat at again.

This is a cross between a local and military dive bar. About a mile from the gates of Elgin AFB, and sits right on the water. The food is great. The seating on the water is great, and if you get hot go inside and enjoy some A/C. Did I say that the food is great?!?!? Well it is, and the beer is cold.

This is an awesome restaurant on the water. The oysters are incredible.

Fish tacos were good, the credit card machine wasn't working, so it was cash only. They "remodeled" recently, but the main inside area still felt like a hole in the wall. Overall it was decent food for a reasonable price.

The fried mahi was mediocre, but everything else was good, great drinks, good service, and enjoyed the outside seating

Chill, fun atmosphere. The brat was great and I definitely appreciate the 2 for 1 drinks for active duty. Hitting this place up again next time I'm in Destin.

Food and service are good. Atmosphere is great. However, I sent my boys there recently to grab a burger and fries. It was nearly 40 bucks. What's irritating is they add junk fees under "service or food fee." Why? Come on Doc's, this is a local's place, we're not 30A in Valp. Burgers and fries don't need to be priced this way. If Pounders in Niceville can do it, which is incredible value, so can Doc's. Please get rid of the junk fees.

It was such a hot day to sit outside, but the atmosphere and the view by the water was great. Eat, drink and watch nature activity was relaxing and fun. Food and drinks are great, fresh and hot. Parking could be difficult. I wonder if they have extra parking area somewhere near by?

Recommended by a local while I was doing work at Eglin AFB. My last night in town I went there. Small parking area. The chargrilled house oysters were fantastic made me wanting more. The shrimp platter was very good also fries and coleslaw excellent. Absolutely best meal I had in the 2 weeks I was in town. I'll definitely go back again next time I am doing work at Eglin.

Great restaurant, quick service, and had a good variety of food. It's not just seafood. They have a really good softshell crab on a sandwich or a taco.

We celebrated my husband's birthday at Doc's and had an exceptional time! Originally we were going to do oysters at home however our kitchen is under renovation. We found a gem in Doc's, away from the usual tourist spots. We reserved a table for Sunday lunch and got a great table outdoors on the upper level, close to the order counter, with a view of dolphins swimming by—our kids were thrilled! Flame-grilled oysters were a major hit, with even our 6-year-old clamoring for more. We ordered a dozen oysters prepared three ways and another dozen raw. My husband had to battle the kids for the black and bleu cheese one. The soft shell crab burger, tacos, and mahi mahi were also devoured with glee. I good chip goes a long way. The pita type ones that came with the spinach and shrimp dip were good on their own - warm and crispy fried and not thick! The key lime pie was the best we've ever had anywhere, with a delicious, pliable crust. The chocolate mousse cake I can't comment on because it was demolished before I could even get a forkful! Staff were so efficient, knowledgeable, and courteous, and the ordering process was smooth. The food was freshly prepared and arrived hot. I forgot a lighter for the birthday candles and the server at the cash offered to lend us her personal one taking the risk that one might not return it! Ample extra parking located next door at the Compass Rose. There is a path with stairs that takes you down to Doc's beside the building so you don't have to walk on the sidewalk by the road. Kids already asked when we were coming back as soon as we were trotting out of the establishment. Not sure why it took us 10 years of living on and off in the area before coming here! Will be back on the reg and only here for when oysters are calling us.

Fantastic food and drinks. Deck areas are shaded. Had Oysters Rockefeller & 3 cheese jalapeño oysters with a Bloody Mary. Highly recommend.

My daughter just moved to Nicecille. I live an hour or so away in PCB. I went to visit her and she said that she wanted to take me to her favorite place in the area. It was so much fun! You look at the menu and place your order at the counter. If you order a cocktail, they make it then and there. You find a seat and they bring your food out to you. It is super casual with picnic table style seating outside with lovely views of the water. People had dogs on leashes out with them. That was lovely! There were so many flies that it was driving us crazy. But it's Florida and it's Summer time, so that's the way that goes. It was awesome! Everything that you should have in your Florida experience. But you have to be cool and laid back. If you're going to go all Karen and get annoyed by dogs and bugs, go somewhere else. If you want a really cool old Florida vibe with really good service and food, then go to Doc's Oyster Bar. (I wish I'd caught the name of our bartender so that I could give her a shout out, but it was great, and I'll be back!) Thanks!!!

Loved coming across this place. The food was delish; the people were friendly, and the patio was scenic. Would definitely come again and recommend.

Nice place to chill, eat, hang out by the water. Low key and chill place! Doc's offers indoor and outdoor seating (more outdoor than indoor). I come here for the softshell crab sandwich and oysters. Although, they have a pretty good selection on the menu. The fries were great also! The staff was always pleasant whenever in my experience.

No change for customers since they closed for 7 months Had paper on my burger ate part before realizing it. Food wasn't up to any MacDonalds. No respect for Veterans. Sorry not going back.

Decent little spot, weird location so parking is hit or miss. Food was good, not memorable, but not Destin priced, either.

Disappointed. . . in myself for not coming sooner and becoming a regular customer. Raw oysters were on point. The softshell crab sandwich may have been the best I've ever had. Even the french fries were perfect. Great selection of domestic and local beers. Service was excellent. I went during lunch rush and the place was busy. However, the oysters came out almost immediately, and the hot food was only a couple minutes behind. Atmosphere is exactly what a Florida Oyster bar should be.

Fried Pickles were great. The Chargrilled oysters were a miss for me. The smaller ones were good, there were mostly large oysters. The large oyster weren't grilled long enough and they were just this side of raw. Not to my taste. I would try again but I wouldn't get the Chargrilled Oysters.

I love sitting by the water and the service was great! The food was overdone for my liking and the portions didn't match the prices in my opinion.

Placed an order for a Captain's platter and was told it would be 15 minutes. Could not pick my order up even though it was ready..had to stay in line for 20 minutes. When I finally got to the register, I was ready to pay and asked if it was cold sitting there so long. I was told it wasn't until I paid. When I asked if I could get a hot order, I qas told it would take another 25 minutes! Doc's customer service is horrendous 😫

I usually get the blackened mahi-mahi… it IS the best around, but everything I have ordered is wonderful. This is one of my favorite spots in Niceville and it’s the perfect place to watch the sunset. Great atmosphere, great view, great service, great food, great drinks.

The place has a cool vibe. It was a cold, rainy day when we visited so we didn’t get to dine outside, but they have multilevel decks which looked interesting. The fish and chips and soft-shell crab sandwich were both tasty.

Atmosphere stars in this case are for the charmingly dilapidated waterfront setting. Seafood is first rate. Try the soft shell crab sliders.

Great little bar! No servers, order everything at the counter. I had the grilled shrimp and they were good, wish the portions were bigger, only got 7 shrimp and a ton of French fries.

This is definitely the go to place for beers after a long work week . The environment was friendly and upbeat without the crazy . Extremely helpful and kind personnel .

Unreal good food. Been looking for a non-tourist joint with good seafood since I moved here. Their mahi-mahi is out of this world; highly recommend the blackened style. Fries: crispy, on point. Hush puppies ✔️ coleslaw ✔️. Just wow. New favorite and I can't wait to go back. I ate it so fast I forgot to take a picture.

Docs is the best. Broiled or raw oysters, cold, big and sweet. Everything out of kitchen is good! We good several times a month. One time recently we can in during week right before 8 and they kept the kitchen open till we ordered! Much appreciated!!

Best lil secret in Niceville!! Oyster bar … grilled oysters of different flavors .. best grilled shrimp tacos … best hush puppies .. they actually take the time to butterfly the shrimp.. quality and flavor spot on .. be sure and ask for house made tartar sauce! Military discount is on alcohol.. be sure to ask! Chicken sandwich French Fries are great! Anyone can make them but few do it right.. so perfectly crispy …

Get the Oysters Doc-a-feller. Great atmosphere and live music on the weekends.

Some of the best oysters ever. It was crowded, but folks were friendly. Servers did bring our food after we put in the order.

We had a dozen oysters (they were delicious!). I had the mahi basket blackened, and my friends had the mahi tacos. Everyone loved their food! The place does fill up fast, and you have to go to the counter if you want refills. But those are the only drawbacks! Definitely will eat there again!!

2023 November Ordered raw oysters and half dozen Rockefeller baked oysters. Both fresh and delicious! Wonderful time to watch the water with great weather! September Ordered a dozen of raw oysters and Capitan basket. It was fresh and delicious. Enjoyed the view and had a good time. 2021 Tried their take out for three dishes- burger/fries, trio plate and soup. They were fine. We will try to dine in and others on the menu next time.

Go for the oysters avoid the onion rings.

Love this place. Parking out front. Quirky decor- a full sized shark hangs from the ceiling. We got tuna dip, softshell crab sandwitch, both excellent. took our food out on the back porch overlooking the water and the gulls flying past. It's a delight in temperate weather.

Very good local restaurant. The freshest seafood and so many choices. If I lived here I'd come all the time. By the customers who came in and out of the restaurant you could tell it's a local favorite.

The absolute best seafood with a view!

Grilled house oysters were good, a little small, but no grit, flavor was good (better than Acme). Bam bam shrimp tacos were great and the fries were hot and crispy. Price of soda is kind of high at $3.10. Only real complaint is I don't like paying for their S/C: COG Surcharge $3.25 for employee benefits(?). Wish the original building were finished, loved the atmosphere there.

I'd rate Doc's Oyster Bar with 4 stars. This place offers fantastic, affordable food right by the water. I've enjoyed many meals and beers with friends here, although cocktails aren't on the menu. Keep in mind that they're currently undergoing construction and are located up the hill inside the Compass Rose. Their hours can be a bit inconsistent due to sharing the property temporarily.

My husband and I both got the Doc burger, and it was absolutely delicious. Fries and burgers were both cooked perfectly. The staff was wonderful, view is beautiful. Definitely stop by and give them your business. They have live music sometimes as well.

Please let me note to all this establishment is not in its original location as of this post. They are renovating their current space so please dont get confused. This was my first time visiting as my gf was taking me to the airport. A few minutes after we arrived it started raining and it poured for quite sometime. Covered patio was available but we preferred inside with a/c. You place your order at the bar, food and drinks. They give you a # and seat yourself. All we ate were oysters which were excellent + tuna dip. I forgot to note her name but lovely young lady behind the bar with long brown hair was awesome. She made great drinks and had a wonderful personality & can do attitude. I would definitely return. If you want some yummy oysters before you head to the airport this is your place!!

Best place ever!!! Food is awesome, drinks are great, staff is wonderful! Highly recommended! I usually get the fish tacos and oysters. Haven't tried anything here that didn't satisfy me!

Edit: August 2023 second time coming here. Ordered the fish meal and was served tiny fish strips. Ordered the BLT sandwich and the bread was burnt. The bacon was good. Small packs of mayo on the side. Ordered the tuna dip app and it was good but was served with saltine crackers. Hush puppies were good. August 2021 Ordered their oyster Rockefeller and it's mostly cream cheese. Tasted ok but I'll try something different next time. Also, the bread tasted burnt

We have been going here for year. Love everything about it. Food, people and we can take our boat or jetskis. Michelle is awesome..

I don't know why there was cheese on the mahi mahi tacos, but it all tested great.

The food here is amazing. Can't wait for the bridge construction to be done. Be aware of the parking issues . Definitely can't wait to come back.
