Brandon, Rachael, Binks, and Kelsey are the greatest bartenders in St.Pete. The service, friendship, and ongoing support that the staff here provides is unmatched to any bar in St.Pete. If you want to have a good time and have good drinks with some amazing music, you better be at John Boy.

I was skeptical after reading mixed reviews but really wanted to try this place for myself. We walked in around 6p, no cover thankfully Sat(I’m not sure if they do charge at some point, couldn’t find any info online?). Walked over to the second bar and Brandon was friendly and easy to get his attention for cocktail, btw, absolutely nothing top shelf or drafts but had a cute themed cocktail list. The atmosphere is disco vibes, w/ a small, sticky dance floor and VIP semi roped off tiny areas for the guests, far too cramped imo but everyone was having a blast. DJ was great, 70s-80s w/ some R&B thrown in. I loved to see the array of ages here, some in costumes, everyone was friendly and the dance floor got packed by 9p which is why we left. This was a 4 ⭐️ before the shadiness. Side note: I highly suggest checking your bar tab before closing out, someone added a $14 charge to bill, after mentioning it, Brandon insisted it wasn’t him and quickly took off tab. Many reviews mentioned they also had added unknown fees, fyi. An update as of 9/24, I just checked my online banking and noticed I was charged an extra $44 they must’ve added in for a higher tip?!! I guess our 20% tip wasn’t good enough?! I submitted a fraud alert w/ my bank. Watch yourselves friends.

I have never experienced anything as blatantly racist as this place, especially towards Latinos. I’ve been here before, but this time, the discrimination was obvious. When I arrived with my group, I was the last to notice, but everyone was complaining about how bad their drinks were. My own drink was terrible, but I initially didn’t say anything. After hearing from the others, I went to talk to the bartender, and that’s when it got worse. A friend warned me that the bartender had a nasty attitude after adding more alcohol to his drink, and sure enough, when I politely asked for the same, she rudely turned her back on me. I asked for the manager, and what I got was condescension and more attitude. She didn’t even take our complaints seriously, saying, “Oh, all your group is saying the same thing.” Well, maybe it’s because it’s true! And the manager herself? Trying so hard to be Marilyn Monroe, but she clearly missed the lesson on hospitality. To top it all off, it was clear that the attitude came from something deeper – racism. The way they looked at us and treated us left no doubt in my mind. This place is not worth my time or money, and I will never come back. Bad drinks, worse attitude, and outright racism. Avoid this place at all costs.

This is a cool bar in downtown St. Petersburg that is a throwback to the 70’s. It has a lot of memorabilia including album covers and posters and plays good 70s music, including disco etc. Fun place !

My bartender, Brandon, was unbelievably polite and knowledgeable. I'd highly recommend you find this nice young man when searching for a drink. GNJB if you're looking to promote someone, Brandon's ur man. Edit: bouncer threw my meds on the ground street. Prescribed prescription medicine. If u have any ailments this isn't the place for you if ur not an orangutang you can open a pill bottle without spilling it all over the ground .

We got there at 8pm with almost no line to get in. Dance floor small and jam packed but good DJ and music. Too crowded for my taste but we enjoyed the 80's music. Get there before 8:30 or the line will be too long and the wait over 1 hour

The crew here is so chill and welcoming. Gets *super* busy on Friday and Saturday nights, but each trip is worth it. Lotta rockstars manning the lines and behind the bar (s/o Rachael for always crushing it❤️)

I had high hopes for Good Night John Boy after hearing great things, but our experience was deeply disappointing. We planned a surprise birthday celebration for a large group of 80 people, but encountered multiple issues that ultimately led us to cancel our plans entirely. First, we were told we'd need to pay $1,000 for bottle service (this was initially for 40 people so I can imagine for 80 it would have been $2,000) just to bring a birthday cake. This seemed excessive for a Saturday afternoon celebration, but we decided to forgo the cake to avoid this charge. Our next hurdle was trying to confirm if one of our party members, a 20-year-old who wouldn't be drinking, could attend. Getting in touch with the venue proved frustratingly difficult. After multiple unanswered calls, we finally received a confusing text asking which of their venues we were trying to reach. When we clarified and asked about the 20-year-old attendee, we were curtly informed that they're "21+ at all times." While they're within their rights to set age restrictions, this inflexibility for a non-drinking guest during daytime hours seemed unreasonable, especially given that Florida law allows under-21s to enter such establishments. The combination of poor communication, inflexible policies, and what felt like a focus on high-spending customers rather than accommodating a large celebration led us to cancel our plans entirely. Good Night John Boy lost not only the business of our 80-person group but also potential future customers as we share our experience. For a venue that came so highly recommended, the level of customer service and rigid policies were a major letdown. I'd advise potential customers, especially those planning special events, to carefully consider whether this is the right venue for their needs.

You can't even get on the dance floor. Drinks are easy to expensive.

Oh my gosh, just GO here! This place is crazy fun, great music and a wide variety of ages! Everyone is dancing, so be ready! Such a great place! Oh and pay extra to get through the line, so worth it!

Awesome place and best thing it’s open in the daytime ! DJ played great music and the vibe is very happening. ONLY thing that would make it even better is if it could be a bit darker to get a Dance Club feel. Maybe carry your shades inside :) Also - didn’t see any food in the menu…unsure… if they had any, so you may have wanna eat and go.

My friends and I absolutely love GNJB and the disco experience that’s unlike anywhere else in St Pete/Tampa. It’s always a blast, the only issue is it can get a little too crowded during peak hours of the night! The security, Computer Bill, is a great guy who really cares about creating a safe environment while still maintaining a fun atmosphere. His social awareness skills are really valuable in a club/bar industry and he really looks out for the girls who just want to have fun and not worry about getting harassed! He has fun energy and isn’t afraid to bust a move while still creating a safe and fun environment for all the guests at GNJB! Shoutout Computer Bill, you rock!!

You walk in and it's like you are back in the 70's! Get there early, because it does get packed and you will be waiting in line outside trying to get in.

5 separate people's phones and wallets stolen out of their purses and pockets. Security immediately directed us to leave and would not let us nor them back in to even check on the dance floor after making police reports. This place is notorious for this after reading past reviews. Security cared so little it makes you think if it's inside jobs. Avoid this place and not worth it. If you try to call and ask if anything was turned in they will not look, and hang up immediately. If you search every other bars' review on that block for thefts or stolen property nothing populated. Makes you wonder what is going on here.

OMG, what a fun spot. Music is on point, drinks are what they are. You want good vibes and a great fun atmosphere, you must stop in. It is a must. I recommend bottle service and a booth!

Never been to a bar like this! If you go on the weekend, it will probably be packed (with cover) and there is not as much disco music. Thursday was best night of the trip though

Was excited to try with my sister and husband they wouldn't let my husband in because of his Mexican ID then they told me to go in after my sister that had already gone in and made us go all the way through crowd of people to exit. Very humiliating and rude

I was with a group of girlfriends here tonight and the bouncer was flirting with one of us and she gave him her number and the guy within 2 minutes sent her an unsolicited nude. Really gross and disrespectful and made us on edge when we were in there cause it creeped us out. I did speak to the manager about it but i hope they fired the guy.

The bar itself was great, however, I was extremely turned off by the lady collecting cover charges. I watched her turn the screen away from customers and set the tip to the max amount of 25%. Asking for a tip on a cover charge is ridiculous, defaulting the amount to the maximum allowed by the point of sale system and hoping drunk people don't notice is unethical

Bouncing staff (middle age woman) at the front door threw out all our personal belongings in our personal bags without even asking permission or whether we were ok with that. Very hostile behavior to potential customers. Will not recommend this establishment to any of my friends after this experience.

Good Night John Boy continues to be a five-star experience for Jamie and myself. I can't say enough about the attitude and work ethic of the employees and management. Besides having fun and refreshments the environment feels totally safe. Brad, Nick, Jordie, Andre, Jack, Magda, Ember and the All of the staff are always working hard and paying attention and taking care of the patrons. They pay special attention to the birthday guest the anniversary people and everyone who reserves a table for their group. I have to say I am totally blown away at not only the concept of a disco but the amount of effort that these guys contribute to the success of Good Night John Boy. Manager Drew and staff are to be totally congratulated on their success and the image that they've provided for entertainment in downtown St Petersburg. It’s a great time but the security and bar staff would do well to receive some training. Both are not very pleasant and while I am sure they deal with some unpleasant situations that’s not the norm so they should be a little more pleasant. Tattoos do t mean you have to be aggressive.

DO NOT GO HERE!!! I have been here a few times before but I tried to bring a few friends from out of town on Saturday June 1st at 7pm and were stopped by a bouncer he blocked us from walking to even show our IDs and told us we were not getting into the establishment because we were “drunk”???? When I asked him why he thought that he stopped responding. He was wearing sunglasses he couldn’t even look at me when I was speaking to him. He then proceeded to let other people in around my group and finally looked at me and said I can do this all night. He would not give us more than “we were too drunk” we haven’t even had a drink yet!! PLUS ITS A BAR!!! Talk about “customer service” also the other 3 bouncers were laughing behind him!!! Like it was a game to them.

Which all the bartenders are petting and holding in there hands and chest..right after they go back to making drinks..A LITTLE UNSANITARY I WOULD SAY!!!

If you are looking for a place to listen to great music and dance without a creepy vibe, this place is a great time. Lots of people there of all ages and just having lots of fun. I went on a Saturday with a group of girlfriends and it was extremely packed but we still had a lot of fun.

Fantastic DJ's that were truly working it! Fun place to dance &/or people watch. Always attracts a nice crowd. It is a great place to gave a party.

Bouncers harassed my friend for no reason. Disappointing.

Music is great but staff is rude. Bathroom security guy acts like he's FBI literally pushing people away for no reason. Butterfly neck bartender is rude af. Hope nearby businesses start/steal the 70s theme idea. Clearly that's the only reason GNJB gets the crowd.

Walked in and got tackled by a worker there, had no idea what was going on and was told I can’t go in. Worst treatment I’ve ever received for no reason. Still in shock.
