Wonderful tasting banana bread! You just cannot make a bad choice as everything is fresh and 😋 tasty! Also, a great bookstore for successful backyard gardening here in Florida. I'm now listening to Joe Pierce of Mosswood teaching us about Permaculture. And the gardens are just beautiful, and a great example of what we all could do with the right knowledge and help!

I’m a regular here. Mosswood is one of those family owned shops where you’d like to go every single day if you could. They keep the menu fresh but with the favorite standby items too (their famous huge brownies, for one)! I never miss a pimento cheese tart when they have them, or anything made from fresh fruit (much of which they grow in the onsite garden)!

Absolutely love this place, the food is decadent and they have the best savory pastries, the spinach and feta is my favorite. I also love that they have golden milk! It’s rare to find a bake shop this good, they also have a little shop of artisanal products like handmade blankets, intense, oh and they carry kombucha;)))

It's a nice place in a very cool town. The space was a little crowded with a line, which will tell you two things: The food is good. People are willing to wait in line for it because it is so good. With that being said, I hardly ever wait in lines, and it was kind of claustrophobic inside. The parking was also somewhat restrictive. The coffee was perfect, and the loaf of bread we bought was top-notch, even if I did have to wait outside on the porch while my spouse bought it.

Amazing ambiance and caring service. I wanted a coffee but didn’t expect such a great espresso preparation with the most amazing pastries to accompany my Cortado! Variety is great and the menu alone would seem like a lot more items than what the small community would perhaps consume, so applauds for the effort and great experience! Very lovely experience indeed and will come back when in the area. A+++ for service and great coffee and pastries!!!

Get there early or you might miss out on all the great food. The Americano coffee was great. The quiche was mostly cold. All the products in the display will be cold not room temp. Great brownies, peach turnover, and a Basil bread loaf. I had been trying for 10 years to stop here. I met the owner's husband in Arcadia,FL at a wild food conference. The owners husband told me about his wood oven and that the Macanopy State Park had wild horses and wild Bison roaming throughout the park. Also there are banana tree growing classes when they have time to teach them.

On Saturday October 28th my wife and I visited Micanopy for their Fall Festival. We visited Micanopy dozens of times in the past. We like the little shops restaurants and one of our favorites was Mosswood Bakehouse. Sadly, we had a very uncomfortable issue with the owner (he said he was the owner) that day. There was a line to get in since there were 100's of people at the Fall Festival. There was a chair in front patio of the store for an elderly lady to seat while her family was on the line. She did not want to seat so the owner took the chair and put it on the porch. My wife was very tired and said if the lady does not want to seat, I will seat. She proceeded to go to the porch to seat and this man told her she could not seat there and pulled the chair from my wife's hands. My wife almost begged him to let her seat or to let her take the chair down as it was before so she can seat, and he categorically told her no. He said to my wife that she cannot seat there nor use the chair because she was not 80 years old. All this happened in front of everyone that was on the line waiting. It was disrespectful to my wife and I plus very embarrassing for her. We left without buying anything. We have been going to this place for over 10 years because we like their baked goods. The people in the store have always been nice and amicable to us. But this was enough for us not to come back not to recommend this place to anyone.

I stopped by this cute bakery while I was at the Fall Festival. They had a system and were able to help many customers. I ordered the Pecan Pie Bars and I absolutely loved them! They were perfect and I want to go back for more! I also tried the Quiche which I believe was a Broccoli Potato Cheddar. It was really good as well but could have been warmed just a little bit longer. Looking forward to next time!

I really want to love this place. On paper it’s perfect, but the people who work there always seem to wish they were somewhere else. Everything is very expensive. For a country store, they are not very welcoming. They scoff if you bring your kids with you. The coffee is ok. I’ve never bought the pastries because they always have flies on them. They rush you “is that all???” While you’re still browsing as if they want you to leave. Really wish someone else would open a shop in Micanopy with GOOD coffee and a nice attitude.

If Rude staff, Overheated coffee, stale attitudes, BLM, Trans and pro abortion garb are your thing, this is the place for you. The vibe in this place is so dense you can cut it with a knife. Overpriced non local items and dusty trinkets scattered on the shelves with no thought behind it. You would think you’re asking them to haul the baked goods from the bottom of a well. “Ugh…anything else”. The guy that’s there is not pleasant. honestly I’ve never been greeted with a smile by anyone that’s been in there. They seem annoyed no matter what I order. I try to read them while i decide so I don’t offend them. Tea? Annoyed. Latte? Annoyed. Soda? Annoyed. It doesn’t matter what you get they don’t want your money. We wanted to love this place. Everyone one in town told us we had to try it. When we walked in the lights were off but it was the middle of the day. The two women were talking behind the counter and it felt awkward interrupting them to ask questions. There was another couple in the shop with us that was ordering at the counter so we walked around the other side. Was expecting baked goods or old time candies and stuff. The baked goods counter was empty except for a few brownie bars, a couple of croissants and some packaged big company items. Tea was good 👍 and very refreshing. They didn’t have seating inside or on front porch but rather a very sad and cramped back porch with zero ambiance(music, fan). I know Covid has been tough on everyone, especially small businesses but we didn’t feel welcomed or like they were excited about being a bakery. The best interaction we had was with the strangers who sat across from us on the back porch. 😢😞😖

If you stop in for a beverage and are lucky to snag up a delicious bakery treat, I strongly urge you to meander through the food forest out back. I was in here for one whole minute before the rudeness of the woman at the register made me turn around and leave. Maybe they have no interest in being an actual business or customer service, which is fine for the other great options in town. Don’t waste your time or money going here, especially when there are other amazing options one block away with nice people working there. Instead it turned out to be a blessing because I ended up going to Old Florida Cafe which turned out to have an amazing iced latte, and amazing hot foot and desserts. It’s unfortunate that sweet southern charm and human decency is wasted on this shop taking up space.

I have been a customer of Mosswood for many years. I live in town and am probably there 2x/week. Mosswood is not just a coffee shop. Mosswood gives a depth to our little town that no Starbucks could ever match. Mosswood offers workshops (and sales) throughout the year on ginger plants, bamboo, permaculture and pie baking. Their back garden is wondrous --a total gem that is lovingly tended by Joe. He will happily answer any questions you might have about what he's got growing. They make delicious cakes, pastries and sourdough bread (in the cooler months, it's made in their brick oven). It's really kind of amazing what they're able to do with such a small staff. If Mosswood was not here, I doubt I would live here to be perfectly frank. They have been beyond generous to me and I look forward to every trip to my hometown treasure.

The freshest seasonal fruits and vegetables, many homegrown, are paired with the finest ingredients along with much care to create the magic of Mosswood’s pastries. The owners are real people doing real good in both their ovens and their community. Hats off to them for staying the course to keep us and them in best health during this trying time. Is this always a stop I make if I am traveling down 441? Every single time. This beautiful farm store is tucked away on a property that has been stewarded by Joe who also bakes the lovely sourdough loaves in the outdoor kitchen in the back. Grab yourself a cup of coffee and walk through the towering banana forest. Emily makes delicious and stunning rustic pastries and treats that have NEVER disappointed. In addition she also makes incredible special request items including wedding cakes and special occasion desserts. Each one more breathtaking than the next. The owners care about quality, are intentional with how they source products, and continuously hone their craft. Am I shocked to see 1 star reviews? No, because people are jerks and feel the need to trash small businesses. Am I shocked they are from people who expect DG prices, food like substances, and the ‘freedom to not wear masks’?
