Food was good the service was great and the restaurant was great but what wasn't great was the forced gratuity and the price of the food. I was thinking of going back despite the price but not anymore because of the forced gratuity that I don't think was advertised anywhere.

This is what the $34 of the “combination” meal gets you. Definitely not worth the price. Plus, they add an automatic 18% gratuity even if you’re sitting at a dining table and not getting the hibachi experience. The service was fine, but the food is not worth the price. I spent over $120 for 3 people during lunch and we all left hungry.

Just a heads up, this place is NOT OKINAWAN. Pretty standard, nothing special, sushi and hibachi and definitely not anything authentically Okinawan about it. No Shisa at the front door.. Food was very highly priced and 18% gratuity is added to any size parties. After we ordered, the server offered miso soup to everyone and was a little insistent, as if it were complimentary…it was not. So I paid $20 for instant miso soup… 3 adults, 2 kids under 4, no drinks, about 1 sushi roll each and 2 appetizers was $178! I feel like that price should have bought a lot more or higher quality somewhere else. Agedashi Tofu was good but gyoza was really Yaki Mandu (Korean). Decor was cool and felt authentic. Food, pricing and misleading name was disappointing as a whole though.

We are local and frequent Okinawa. They treat us like friends and always make the experience enjoyable. The sushi rolls are my favorite, hands down. The Play Girl roll is chef’s kiss. Hibachi is always fun and equally delicious.

We ordered take out. It was literally the smallest hibachi I have ever gotten. $40 for about 5 pieces of steak and maybe 7 pieces of chicken. I love hibachi and this was the worst one I’ve ever had.

My wife and I had dinner there for the 1st time. We were shocked that they automatically add an 18% tip to your bill. I would understand if it was a large party. It was only 2 of us. The service was mediocre at best. I worked in the restaurant industry waiting tables. I usually tip 20%. That is by choice. We will not be returning.

We don't really eat sushi in my family. Luckily this place has a fantastic cowboy roll. Instead of fish it's got sirloin beef avocado and spicy mayo. We subbed the avocado for cucumber. The whole family loves it. They have really great service too. Very friendly and very attentive. Will definitely be back again and again whenever we are in the area.

I've had a lot of hibachi at a lot of different places across the country, but eating here was distinctly the worst of them all for many reasons. The parties at our table were all but interrogated about the ages of the children present, followed by inappropriate comments about the sizes and appearances of said children. I'd strongly suggest you bring your child's birth certificate along if they are obviously (or not obviously) within the ages of 6-12. Not that it matters because after all the debacle of whether the kids could order off the kids menu, the portions are quite literally the same exact size either way.. absolutely stingy no matter what price they are. Super small portions, of mediocre tasting food that left 3/4 of us playing ring around the toilet before we even left the restaurant. Those of us who were sitting on one side of the hibachi table sat through the entire dog and pony show with smoke absolutely billowing in our faces cause the exhaust system doesn't draw the smoke upwards. Completely unimpressed with every aspect of this place from start to finish and I'm sure they know it.. that's why gratuity is added to the bill automatically. As a local I'd recommend you go literally anywhere else if you want to spend hundreds on dinner.. if you are dead set on the hibachi experience there is one in Destin, and one in Navarre. Good luck if you read this and choose Okinawa anyways!

We’ve eaten here many times and have had some good meals but today’s events called for a review. The lady has always been pushy and rushes everyone to place their order. We’re not able to open our straws because they come already placed in the glass. Today we dined in and saw someone literally standing on top of the hibachi grill (shoes and all)behind us cleaning the overhead compartment. The family next to us was sprayed with liquid from the chemicals being used to clean. The hibachi cook who was actively cooking our food was yelling to the employee to get down from there and clean it later. We asked the manger to address it and he said it’s okay because they will clean it after they finish standing on it with their nasty shoes. We were all disgusted and our family and the family next to us left immediately. There’s no telling what goes on in the kitchen because the standards are pretty low to do such an unsanitary practice during working hours with paying customers sitting there. I will never return and I would NOT recommend this place to anyone.

Very over priced. Portions are small. Food needs improving. Very expensive for what you are getting. Filet was at best 5 ounces but maybe less. So 1 - 5 ounce steak, 5 scallops, 3/4 cup total of onions, cabbage and carrots combined, 1/2 cup of plane noodles cabbage, 1 cup rice and a tiny tiny salad - 50$ before tax and tip. They also included a tip in our total with just two of us. Service was good. We did appreciate that.

We've been going to this restaurant since 2018, and sadly we will not be going back anymore. The portion to pricing is out of control. I was charged $34 for a lunch hibachi portion of chicken and shrimp. I got 3 small shrimp, about 6 cubes of chicken, no noodles, one scoop of rice, and a small side of veggies. I wish I would've taken a picture of the plate because the amount of food was actually pitiful. I've been contemplating writing a review because the pricing has gotten so bad, and today made that decision easy. For 3 people to eat lunch today, it was $87, and the other 2 people with me were kids. After almost 6 years, we won't be back.

No, no and hell no! Omfg … we eat sushi weekly and love to visit different locations! I had the sunset roll (deep fried, which is what I usually get at different locations ) ; however , it came out COLD, WET, and mushy… should be hot and crispy, with cold toppings! Husband had rainbow roll… he said just ok and that’s his usual favorite… he got 1 beer . The freaking total was $49.05! Gratuity included for 2 people?? Really??? And forced at 20%!!! Hell no Will not be back… waitress and the sushi chef both knew my issues and didn’t offer fresh replacement nor did they take it off the ticket… I barely ate 1/2 Ps… waitress was sweet thou, just didn’t take care of the issues… when she saw my expression on ticket price, she then proceeded to tell us that the tip was included

We USED to be long time customers of this establishment. We aren't sure what went wrong! First time back eating here in about a year or so and man, what has changed! Ownership or management, both? Food portions have gone noticeably down. Pricing has been noticeably raised. One of the members of our party had a previous bariatric operation so they physically cannot consume large portions of food. When they notified staff and presented their card from the doc, staff immediately dismissed the card and told them they had no choice but to order full portions, or could order "side items", which would have been more expensive than the full meal! Food is still very good in our opinion. Sauces are still good. Service was just meh, good but could use some improvement. Also, they have implemented a practice of adding an additional tip to the bill, without notification or signage. Maybe around 20% extra. We thought it to be because of our party size. However, with the other reviews on this thread, it seems to be added no matter the party size. Horrible business practice!!! Unfortunately, I do not think we will give it another try for a while. With practices like this, I do not think they will be in business for too much longer. EDITED TO ADD: Unfortunately the business continues to use the same, basic reply to all of their negative or semi-disgruntled reviews. This shows a complete lack of understanding and disrespect to your customers. UNBELIEVABLE!!

2nd try at Sushi. The 1st try was in Texas... They blew me away! The taste and freshness was out of this world. I will definitely be back to this restaurant. The waitress was so polite and friendly. The atmosphere was awesome and made my visit very pleasant! Our waiter was very friendly and quick. Am very pleased with the service.

The hibachi chef was funny and well-experienced. The waiter was horrendous (probably the worst I've ever seen). To begin: we hadn't even been sitting for 5 seconds and he was trying to take our drink orders, all of us chose water because we hadn't even opened the menu yet, my mother was trying to look over the drink menu, then he started to loudly tap his fingers on his order book, sighing, then just walked off. Later, while he was taking our food order, my wife wanted to pay for our tables appetizers, she asked him if the sushi rolls could be put on a separate check for her then the waiter asked why? She responded with because I want to then he asked again but why? Like he was refusing our request. When discussing it with the people also sitting at our table they said that he seemed annoyed when they were asking what flavors of Japanese soda they offered.

I visited this restaurant Friday with my family. Service was HORRIBLE, the cook burned all of the food and everyone kept trying to inform the cook that it was burnt. We also spoke with management and they kept saying that’s how it’s supposed to be. I didn’t touch one bite of my food, neither did I get my chicken they kept telling me I said I didn’t want it. So I spoke with management and said I’m paying for the drink (mountain dew) and she said NO IF YOU DON’T PAY I’M CALLING THE POLICE! I’ve work in the food service industry for a long time and if you can’t satisfy the customer you can’t demand them to pay. So I paid 38.00 dollars and didn’t eat one bite. All because the cook wasn’t attentive on the temperature of the grill that wasn’t the customers fault.

I ordered the Sashimi Box. The tuna sashimi was very tasty. The fried rice was well seasoned and delicious. The waitstaff were cheerful and the atmosphere was pleasant. Although it does not exactly match the Japanese food offered in Japan, all the food was delicious and I would like to visit again.

Went by myself, sat a table. Got hibachi was told it would be the same as off of the normal cook f of you kind, guess not MY FOOD WAS COLD. then I had like 5 noodle on my plate so I asked for more and yes I understand its extra food but $7 for a side of noodles that should have already came with the meal is ridiculous. I also got charged a 20% gratuity BY MYSELF, I looked over the menu no where does it state that will be added on unless for a bigger party. I would have tipped it anyway so I didn't make a fuss but it was inappropriate to be on my check. management really needs to handle this situation it shoulda been handled when I pushed my food aside and said it was cold right after it came out.

Pros: good for large groups, fun hibachi chefs Cons: mediocre non-hibachi reasons (non-meat eater in a hibachi group); $63 for a friend who got a chicken/beef fried rice combo (very expensive for what you get); server caused a lot of havoc when throwing plates down in the basin behind the hibachi grill; sushi was very mediocre and fish had been clearly staying out and not on ice; $16 for the roll pictured All in all, I would not recommend this place.

***Won't Be Around Much Longer*** I recently visited Okinawa Japanese Restaurant in Fort Walton Beach, FL, and was profoundly disappointed with the changes they've made. The reduction in portion sizes was immediately noticeable and quite drastic. The meals, which were previously generous, are now disappointingly small. Adding to my dismay was the surprising hike in prices. It’s one thing to pay more for quality, but the inflated prices at Okinawa, especially given the smaller portions, seem excessive. Furthermore, the policy of charging full price for meal sharing is unheard of and adds to the overall dissatisfaction. This practice feels particularly unfair and not customer-friendly. Such a combination of smaller portions, high prices, and unreasonable sharing charges has unfortunately diminished my previously good opinion of this establishment. I hope the management takes this critique seriously and reconsiders their pricing and portion sizes to better meet customer expectations. Before you respond with "Thank you for sharing your feedback with us. We're sorry to hear that your experience didn't live up to your expectations. We take all feedback seriously and appreciate your honesty. We'll use your comments to improve our service and ensure that every guest has a memorable experience. We look forward to serving you again soon!" like you have EVERY negative review consider the following: Generic responses can give the impression that feedback is not being thoroughly considered. As a customer, it's important to feel heard and see tangible changes based on the input provided by myself and others. Concrete steps towards improvement would certainly encourage me and perhaps others to consider revisiting and reassessing our experiences in the future. While we appreciate the acknowledgement, it would be more reassuring to see specific actions being taken to address the concerns raised, especially regarding the portion sizes, high prices, and the policy on charging for sharing meals.

We just got home from leaving the restaurant and oh my god. My stomach hurts and my daughters. Our steak and shrimp were SO salty. My son, daughter and I only got 6 pieces of steak. The only thing good was the rice. There portions are so SMALL. This place is super expensive and we’re familiar with places like this, they’re ripping people off. My family loves Japanese Steakhouses and we were in Okinawa for 6 years. We really looked forward to this place but we were let down. We didn’t even take our steak and shrimp left overs! That should tell you something. Recommendation: Don’t eat here

Don’t bother dining at this place. The portion sizes are for children and the cost is twice as much as any other hibachi. The food itself was mediocre at best. They also include an 18% tip on every check regardless of dine-in vs hibachi or party size. We love getting appetizers of gyoza and edamame, and this is the first place that somehow managed to produce versions I would never want to eat again. The hibachi portions are ridiculously small for how much they charge. For $40 we got maybe half a steak and half of a small chicken breast, a small amount of noodles, and normal portions of rice and vegetables. The sushi was okay, but not good enough to make it worth returning. Best advice- take your business elsewhere.

Sushi rolls were good, and plating was nice, but over priced, and service was not good at all, I was literally went a head and get myself what I needed almost every time, server was absent most of the time, probably because tips are already added to the bill, so no motivation. Also they were cheap, we were two and they offer us soup or salad, just one, and they charged us for one of them because we asked for both, I thought they come with our order but seems just one of them, they are not even worth it at all.

I've been eating here for years, and I took my daughter and my wife out for hibachi. A party of three, the check was about $170.00 with drinks, but I was alarmed to see that now this resturant automatically adds a 20 % gratuity to your meal, regarless of how little your party is. There is nothing on the door, table or the menus stating this new fee, and sadly I will be going elsewhere now. I do not mind tipping, but a $30.00 gratuity automatically added, for drinks that were refilled ONCE is ridiculous.

We visited this restaurant a few times and the food was always amazing, so we decided to have our wedding rehearsal dinner here. We could not have made a better decision! The food was absolutely delicious and the service we received was wonderful. They did everything possible to accommodate our large group with some dietary restrictions, and even let us bring in and cut a cake to celebrate. I could not recommend Okinawa more!

2020 Today I ordered lunch for our office. I had the tuna lunch box. I couldn't even eat hardly any of the tuna. It was fishy and well done. Pretty disgusting. I just hope I don't get food poisoning cuz I honestly think that fish has been there a while. Not happy cuz this used to be one of my favorite restaurants. Trying to support local restaurants in this time of need, but you need to keep your food fresh 10-30-23 Sad, I should have read my review. When we first arrived, we were sat in a storage area with boxes to wait for our table. When we were sat at the table there was zero leg room. To be fair, we are tall, but unless you are 5 it’s sure to be an issue. Atleast at the corner hibachi table nestled in by the bathroom sink right in the dining area. My 6 year old even washed her hands and was told by the cook to go wash them in the bathroom 😂 Then we opened the menu and found the prices DOUBLE what we pay in our hometown. We thought “well the food must be excellent.” We tried to order chicken and fries for our little picky eater and we’re told “this isn’t McDonald’s.” She got the $8 chicken tenders that were very small and completely flavor and saltless. The food was mediocre and that’s being generous. The salad was like 4 bites and had a 1/4 cup of water in the bottom. The veggies tasted like they were cooked over a candle. The steak was a disappointment. My daughters salmon was raw. The waitress was loud and intrusive. The positive side is that every other restaurant we’ve visited has shined in comparison. The other restaurants so far have been ChuckECheese and Waffle House. He was right, it wasn’t McDonald’s.

I came here years ago and the food was so good. I was excited to come back and try it, but I noticed everything was a lot more expensive than other local hibachi restaurants and the food wasn’t very good especially for being twice and triple the price. My food took a long time to come out and wasn’t served hot. The steak wasn’t great quality. The rice was undercooked. Everything food wise was very underwhelming yet I paid close to what I would pay at a very nice restaurant. The service was not the best, but to be completely fair it was a busy night. I never got my drink and couldn’t even ask for it because we were never checked on. My biggest issue was with the price and quality of the food. The gratuity was also included which I’ve never seen before for such a small party. It was just me and my small child. The gratuity doesn’t match the service. I definitely won’t be back due to the quality of our food and how pricey it was. If I’m gonna pay that price I would expect the food to match. There are much better options here locally. Take the drive to Navarre.

This place is a joke now! We used to be regular customers, but I will never come here again. I was shocked at how small the portions were and how expensive it was…Salad was 2 bites, noodles were 2 bites, soup was a 1/4 bowl of chicken broth, no dessert comes with the hibachi meal like before, AND they added 20% gratuity onto our check for two people. How presumptuous! 🤣The chef forgot half of our tables meals so they brought it out later, cooked in the back. Awful, bland, overpriced garbage. Do yourself a favor and eat at the gas station instead.

I have been to a lot of Hibachi restaurants. This is definitely one of the best. The flavor and seasoning was spot on. Our Chef Sabio (forgive me if I spell it wrong) was one of the best I have ever seen.

I wanted to share an experience with all the guests. Then we all can value what will be the right rating this restaurant shall have. Last night we and friends of ours went in there for a gathering, and we had a Great time. Everything went south after my husband forgot his iphone on his chair. We realized that after 15 minutes after we have left the restaurant. We tried to call the restaurant w/no answer, and tried to call the phone, for our biggest surprise, phone was turned off and went straight to voice mail. Then we went back to the restaurant (since we are locals, not the vacationer, and live fairly close to the restaurant), and the phone was nowhere to be found. And restaurant manager told us that all their employee are the greatest in the world, and if they found anything they would return to the front desk, even though we have "Find My Friend" and it pinned the location was in the restaurant right arfter we left time stamped. And managers from restaruant were in total denial. At 11:20PM my husband iphone was turned back on and pinned on "Find My Friend" in the parking lot right behind restaurant. Even though phone was moved around a couple times, and pinned at one last location. So based on these facts it is apparent that the phone was found and taken by a restaurant employee and not a guest, since it stayed in the restuarant location for 3-4 hours based on FMF location. This morning, we went to police station, filed a police report. And my disappointment is that it maybe my hustband's fault that he left his phone in this restaurant for 15 minutes, but it can happen to EVERYONE in that restaurant. So my advise to everyone eating that place is that PLEASE WATCH your belongs really careful, it might be lost forever if you don't watch. Relaxation and enjoy a good meal might not be something you can have. In case anything happento you, Customer NO. 1 rule did not apply there. anything happens - we, tough luck. This is waht I want to share with you. This happened on May 20, 2023.

Went in to eat with two kids! The food was not that great and we sat at the hibachi table and they not only charged for kids drinks. But they add gratuity of 18% to your bill for no reason I thought gratuity was for party’s of six or more but no it’s for a mom and two baby’s to. I will never be back to this place oh and their soup is a joke it’s beef broth in a bowl with nothing else in it! Oh and everything is over priced for the fact it taste cheap and gross!

Appetizers are way overpriced. I paid 8$ for 2 very small beef skewers and the about the same for 2 very small chicken skewers. The seaweed salad was not worth the price either, smaller portion than competing restaurants. The sushi itself was priced well and very clean tasting. I am only coming here for the sushi, steer clear of the appetizers unless you want a giant bill.

We go here for sushi. It's pretty good and the service is fast. The fried gyoza is really good. Full bar, prices are on the high side for alcohol. One thing that's irritating is they automatically add a 20% gratuity no matter the party size. Keep an eye on that or you may end up tipping twice.

We always enjoy eating at Okinawa because of the exciting Hibachi, delicious food, and friendly staff. My son was very excited to spend his birthday there and was surprised by the birthday song and fruit. The sushi is great, too, and I always enjoy trying a different roll when dining at Okinawa. P.S. I've eaten at this restaurant since I was a kid, and it has always been great. It's awesome to now celebrate there with my own kids.

This establishment is old and dated with carpet and wood paneling from the 1970s. I have never had a more disappointing dinner. Would not recommend dining here.

Update. Upon reading the reviews it is obvious that a lot of ppl are upset about a mandatory gratuity that you're not told about and that i did not see posted anywhere. This is very bad for business. Look at what i thought the reason was below, until i read the other reviews. These people have been my neighbors for almost a decade, i have been going there for years. I love what the husband and wife are doing there with their family. They have great food and great service, however i debated writing this review for a few days but feel it is warranted. I won't be back sadly. All i wanted and deserved was a good meal i felt like, since i was unable to have one on Easter. I ordered a 60 dollar meal. I'm also a waiter and i tip generously. I was a party of one. No where I've ever worked or been to adds a gratuity to a party of one. I'm one hundred percent sure that the waiter stereotyped me for my appearance. How dare he. He should feel shame for that since he added a gratuity to my bill. I would have tipped him much more. However much i like the owners does not matter, i will not support a place that is ok with stereotyping their patrons. This to me is an extremely sad situation that occured. Thank you.

Best hibachi in the county!!! I have lots of memories here as well though the years growing up! Frist time as a kid with my grandpa and as I got old they never disappoint! This place is a gem!!! Awesome service!! Wonderful food!!! Its worth it!!! I promise you!!!

We have enjoyed Okinawa for years. So it was a no brainer when we decided we would order sushi for dinner. The food was horrible. The chicken skewers were tasteless, dry and cold. We ordered 3 orders which came to 30$. 2 SIDE ORDERS of shrimp fried rice came to 40$. It was brown rice with 6 shrimp on top. We ordered scallops which contained only 4 which was 15$. Our order ended up being 156$ which included 18% gratuity. The delicious sushi we normally get was drenched and soggy. Horrible experience. Whatever changes they have made, they should consider switching back. After over 20 years of patronage, we won't be going back.

Decent Hibachi. Food was food. We had chicken, steak,shrimp, and scallop hibachi. Everything was delicious..scallops were tough. Won't order them next time. Our waiter was great! Drinks stayed filled. Our chef was good. Felt bad that most of the other party at the table was on their phones the entire time. He was doing his best to entertain. Definitely cheaper than the Hibachi in Destin. Great local spot.

So, ---food portions Good ,fresh pipeing Hot off the grill with some talents great service..,...BUT when you get your bill, REMEMBER they have already ADDED there share up to 20% !!!!!!!!! That killed it for us .... Our bill was $230BUCKS.... plus a$50 tip Not realizing so not too happy 🤬☹️ Don't think the Restaurant should be doing this!!!!!!!!

BUYER BEWARE: My husband and I had a fantastic experience and were planning to make this a regular stop for us. However we were really confused about how our bill was so high, and upon reading other reviews it’s clear we missed the added gratuity. I tipped 20+%, on a bill that already had 20% gratuity added. That is extremely dishonest for a business and after realizing that I can’t, in good faith, ever return to this establishment.

The food was good as always. However, the prices have gone up. The service needs some improvement. My biggest complaint is that they added a 20% gratuity to the bill for a table of 3. I probably would have tipped 20% but that should be my decision. I won't be going back there anytime soon. The whole experience left a bad taste in my mouth.

WAY too expensive. My wife's hibachi steak and my hibachi shrimp dinners came to $79! My daughter, who was in town for the Thanksgiving hoiiday and was there just for the company, when asked what she was having told the waitress she would just share with me was told there would be a $17 sharing charge! My daughter then said in that case, she would not share, but just have a house salad. The waitress reached over and snatched my daughter's plate away! It was like the waitress was saying, " ok, I'm gonna make sure you don't share." The hibachi chef came out and did the usual onion volcano, catch-an-egg on the spatula trick and then served us some burnt rice. Really, this is my least favorite restaurant in Fort Walton Beach. It is so expensive and the food is just so-so. Not recommended at all.

First off, there were many empty tables around us but they sat us right next to another couple, just two feet away. It was very awkward and I could not talk to my gf about something private. Second, I ordered the volcano roll. There was no spice. The presentation looked as if they bought it at publix. Third, our server left halfway through and we didn’t have service for a good minute until another server showed up. Come on guys, I wouldn’t have expected this from a 20 dollar a plate restaurant.

Food was subpar & overall the experience was less than desirable given the price! They also wouldn't allow my 12 yr daughter to eat the smaller portion that comes with the "children's menu". I will not be returning & frankly I'm not sure how this place remains open for business. Service was good or slightly above average. Place is overpriced!!! Ate there a couple weeks ago.

I want to share a few reasons 2 is my rate for this restaurant. Three years ago we went to dine here. We had eaten here so many times before and always left so satisfied. However, on this night (3 yrs ago) I became horribly attacked with food poisoning. I should have known better because the sushi color just did not look right. I ate it anyway. I was soooo sick for four days, barley able to do anything but writhe in pain and live in the you know where! As sushi is a normal staple in my diet, I was so sick that I did not start eating sushi again until recently. I actually mustered up the courage to try again, and even go back to Okinawa (crazy I know). I was in heaven with my sushi! However, we also ordered the chicken teriyaki skewers and the chicken pieces were literally the size of the top of my pinky finger for each tiny piece that filled the small skewers, the staff was exceptionally snooty, and the greatest surprise of the evening was the automatic 18% gratuity charge added to our already pricey bill (no exceptions). If you want to spend a great deal of money including your main food bill....add on that 18%!!! This tack on goes for all parties, no matter what size! That left another Bad taste to the mouth. We won’t be going back and will go to another sushi habachi place in the future.

My husband and I had take out tonight and the habachi scallops were perfectly cooked. The California roll was delicious and very well presented. We had scrumptious miso soup. The meals came with noodles, fried rice and a vegetable medley. The perportions we're large and the amount of scallops was even larger. What an amazing experience. The staff didn't forget a thing. You have absolutely exceeded our expectations and created loyal customers out of us. Thank you so much we will be back soon. The Martinez's
