Decided to go to Micanopy for lunch. Picked Old Florida Cafe. Granddad was the cook. The service was friendly and personable. Unique place. But that's Micanopy. We ate outside. Food was good. Service great. Stop by here and check this place out. We'll be back. Also met new dog "Sushi".

We visited Micanopy for the first time and loved it there. We had lunch at this restaurant and food was great and service was great too. They are friendly and very nice people. We loved the puppy there too.

Not many options to choose from. Flies everywhere inside the building. Very dirty inside. The food was ok at best. Definitely overpriced. I ordered rice and beans and the rice was very hard. I’ll give two stars because the girls working were very nice.

I want to love this place so much! Over the years it has become more run down and un kept and dirty. I understand it's historic, but It's loosing it's old Florida charm. The food is usually ok or pretty good. The Cuban is the best thing there I think. The menu is very limited. The coffees and lattes were not worth the try, the taste was not good at all. The pies were pretty good. Place needs a good cleaning. Service is pretty good.

Best cuban sandwich. And friendly people! I am from Orlando. I make sure I go eat a cuban if in area.

So my apologies for not having more photos but my rationale is simply that the food is So good that I forgot to take many pictures. Having said that I would like to share that the Food, Service and Atmosphere are truly terrific. I enjoyed the BLT on Cuban Bread. The half and half Iced Tea is brewed perfectly. The turkey on Cuban bread is just as amazing as the BLT. What truly makes it special is the kindness of all the staff. The wait times are minimal. But the smiles are worth it. It may have been a bit warm outside but it was nice seeing all the cool props. Like the Maytag washer machine. lol. So if you don’t have a reason to come to Micanopy, now you Do!

Great Cuban Sammy, cafe con leche, key lime pie and arroz con frijoles! Best way to start a Florida vacation week! (On the way to Bradenton)!

It was excellent. I had the Cuban and my husband had the MOJO pork sandwich. We also shared a bowl of black beans and rice. The sandwiches were very large! So good

Family stopped in for a quick drink and a quick bite to eat….not to mention some ice cream. They had some good food and the place itself is very old and interesting to look at. Outdoor seating available.

Enjoyed stopping here for a latte and espresso today. We did not eat the food here. Drinks were fairly priced and.staff was friendly. The front of shop had a nice outdoor seating under the mossy oak treas. Loved the big antique buildings as well.

My husband and I have been going to Old Florida Cafe every weekends. The is one of the best in the area.

Leaves little to desire. It’s time for a clean up. I enjoy unique establishments however, this was very unkept and total grunge. My husband got the Cuban. Not much to say. I had the “sour orange” pie. No “orange” flavor. Just sweet. Probably should’ve tried a different one. I’d like to see this place continue.. please give it some TLC.

I make this my first stop in Florida when driving down from the Midwest. Very good Cuban sandwich, very pleasant place to sit outside. One of these years, I gotta try the pulled pork.

Myself and two gal pals had lunch here today after hiking in Paynes Prairie Preserve. The sandwiches were all great! Hit the spot! Will definitely be back next time we're in the area. Let me just say... the KEY Lime Pie...awesome!! It was make you wanna "slap yo mama" good!! Don't leave the Cafe without trying a piece of pie!! ~Cathy Cargile

Spur of the moment stop. Traveling to Payne's Prairie SP and decided to stop by for a quick bite to eat. Friendly and courteous service. Cuban sandwich was delicious. We found a new town and place to eat on our travels. Outdoor eating was perfect.

In an historic building located in an historic village, this restaurant offers fabulous Cuban entrees, my favorite being vegan Cuban black beans with yellow rice. The flavors are phenomenal. Don't let the timeworn building and sleepy old town atmosphere produce any hesitancy... the experience is unforgettable. Order inside and enjoy dining outside surrounded by eye catching foliage and shaded by old living oak trees graced with Spanish moss. This is Old Florida at its BEST! And this restaurant honors Cuban culinary tradition! Seize the adventure, time travel. You don't want to miss this experience!

I had to get away from the burnt oil kitchen smell mixed with what smelled like Fabulosa cleaner. Yuk.

We had passed signs for Micanopy on our travels around Florida and decided to stop in and go to the Old Florida Cafe. It was so relaxing after driving for a while. The town is beautiful and the restaurant is a great place to eat. They have sandwiches and comfort food, along with fresh brewed coffees and homemade desserts. Everyone is very friendly and the prices are fair.

This a quaint restaurant in a very small community. The residents are very friendly and restaurant staff are great. We purchased a piece of art in a boutique which is proudly displayed in our living room.

The food and service were good. If like old florida, you'll definitely like this Cafe and town.

Excellent sandwiches and very friendly service from the locals, very welcoming. The homemade deserts looked amazing, yet we were full from our lunch. Will have to get back there on an empty stomach just for the deserts. It's a great place to grab a bite and check out some antiques. There are lots of cool and interesting things to look at. The tables show a lot of history. Our Florida table was so cool. Remember many of the items shown from growing up in FL. Old Florida Cafe is definitely a must stop!

Traveling through Micanopy this is a must stop shop. I personally like the early lunch time here. Nice and quiet with outdoor and indoor seating available. Dogs welcome outside. Between sandwiches, café, and desserts, it's hard to pick a favorite. Enjoy some cubano coffee, on the patio with a slice of keylime pie. You won't be disappointed. Portions are small, but mighty with taste and quality. This is a spot to come back to. Enjoy the history, and drop some coins to keep the staff.

Cute little cafe shop with antiques to look at while you wait. We got the BLT, and it arrived quickly with thick cuts of tomato and crispy bacon. It was delicious and hit the spot. We came back later for pie, but they were sold out. So, if you're debating a slice of pie with lunch, do it!

I've been wanting to come to Micanopy since I saw it in Doc Hollywood as i love small towns. We decided to have lunch. The cage is somewhat hidden behind bushes. My wife had the cuban & I had the reuben with red beans & rice (they were out of slaw) and some key lime pie. Everything was good but I was a little disappointed that you had to pay extra for sides since everything is a la carte. The prices are really good so I guess it's not all that bad. Both of us ate for $26. I would go back next time I'm in town since the food was good, the staff are very friendly and the ambiance was awesome. If you're ever in Micanopy, give them a try. The picture is fun or take looking out toward the street.

We had Cuban sandwiches today. They were so good. There was plenty of meat and the bread was very good and crunchy. The staff was very nice.

We ate lunch on Saturday June 10th. Very cute place the staff is very friendly! Unfortunately the food lacks flavor big time. I ordered black beans and rice with onion and a grilled cheese. My husband got the Reuben. My beans and rice were lukewarm and zero flavor no garlic or bay leaf. Thank goodness for salt and hot sauce! The grill cheese was good. My husband said his sandwich was also very bland as the bread has zero flavor. We finished with a slice of key lime pie. Unfortunately it wasn't true Fl key lime pie. It was made with cream cheese and no bake instead of the traditional way. We probably won't eat there again.

Cute town and nice place to go eat for lunch. We had black beans and yellow rice with toppings. Huge bowel! Love the outside with tables on the deck. On nice days, eating outside is perfect... did not see very many deserts inside. A few tables inside.

The Reubens and grilled cheese were very good, however, some of the meat was tough and extremely chewy. The coleslaw was fantastic, and my lunch companions enjoyed their sides of rice and beans. My tea was brewed, but my 2 guests had a can of diet coke and a water. For 3 of us, Including tip, it was just shy of 60.00. I'm giving it 5 stars because the service was fast, and the food was tasty.

We ordered inside and found a table outside. When our food was ready, they delivered it to us. My daughter and I ordered the red beans and rice. It was good, and a large bowl full. My wife ordered a BLT and thought it was good. The thing I liked most about it was where it was located. This place has been around forever. It's in a building that looks like it was built in the early 1900's. The inside felt like an old General store. The seating outside was under ancient, live oaks, with plants growing all around you. You look around and get old, hometown feelings. It was a nice place for lunch while shopping in the many unique stores in Miconopy.

In your heart of hearts, you know Florida isn’t about Miami and glamour, it’s about small towns with huge oak trees dripping Spanish moss and dappled shade. It’s about slowly eating lunch under an umbrella listening to the katydids buzz while sipping sweet tea. This place lives up to its name and if you miss it you’ve made a mistake. Their Cuban with mahlo pork added is the sandwich to have… and it’s so good you’ll wish you’d saved room for more. Yes it’s an extra mile off I75, but it’s worth the drive for this slice of what Florida can be. I know my planning from now on is going to include an extra hour to wander it’s shops and enjoy this awesome sandwich.

We had a good BLT (several choices for the bread), the mojo pork bowl, a slice of key lime pie (looked homemade), two cans of soda and the bill was $34.80 with tax and tip. Not exactly cheap eats, but it was all so good we’re not complaining.

Could have had a bit more pastrami on the reuben. Otherwise, delicious.

Reubens and Cubans is what the homemade sign said. I had a Reuben, my wife a Cuban. They were excellent! This is a quaint little place that will surprise you.

First time trying this restaurant. My wife ordered the Cuban sandwich to go, and it took nearly 55 minutes to make it. The place did not look busy at all and we were never notified that the wait was going to be so long. After 20 minutes my wife asked how long it would take for it to be made. The young woman behind the counter said 5 to 10 minutes, another 15 went by and she asked again, then she said about 20 to 25. The food was not bad, but it was not worth the wait.

Just rude. We walked in about 30 min to closing. The girl at the cashier looked us up and down, said nothing and walked away. When she came back, we asked if it was ok to order and she said yes with an attitude. So we left. Clearly they weren’t interested in serving us.

Been here once before and enjoyed it! So many great options, especially their bakery OMG. Yesterday my partner decided he wanted a coffee. I recommended the Old Florida Cafe. We came in and asked for a coffee. There were a few options on the small chalk board. We asked “how do you all make your coffee?” and we never got a straight answer. We were told it was cuban coffee, that’s great but how do you do your creamer? What types of milks do you have? How do you do your sugar? I feel for a small business these answers should be easily accessible either by menu or by employee. I found neither was the case. I write this review with the intention of returning as I do enjoy your food. But, I also feel for a small business it’s important for me as the consumer to let you know my experiences. Keep up the good work.

Best BLT (You're Bacon Me Crazy!) I've had in years, husband loved the Cuban sandwich, and don't even get me started on the banana pudding!!! The staff are kind, lovely people. Can't wait to go back!!

Order at the counter and they bring the food to the table. My wife had a Reuben and I had pulled pork with rice and black beans. Later we had key lime pie and a peanut butter pie. All was good. I think this is the only place in town that you can use the restroom.

The food here isn't spectacular, but the eclectic art collection is worth a look-see. I had the mojo pork bowl with rice and beans--very southern. Others in our party enjoyed the Reubens on focaccia.

My wife and I had lunch here yesterday. BEST CUBAN sandwich EVER!! Sitting outside in beautiful weather was great. Nice ladies who were our servers and very friendly. Definitely a return place for us.

Perfect spot for lunch this time of year

A wonderful lunch experience on a beautiful Saturday. We enjoyed the Cuban sandwich and the Reuben Sandwich with delicious banana pudding. The atmosphere was exactly what we wanted with outdoor patio seating. Staff were very accommodating and friendly. We definitely plan to return.

This place serves one of the best authentic Cuban sandwiches I've ever had! Nice quaint outside seating area where I can relax and enjoy my lunch with my dog. Highly recommend thus place.

Estuvimos n paseo de chicas , decidimos víciate este pequeño pueblito histórico , cuyo ordene un Emparedado Cubano y un café muy delicioso pero gaste $19 .42 más propina y muy costoso aunque el servicio fue muy bueno el baño limpio las mesas de afuera sucias tuvimos que limpiar con alcohol el pueblo tiene algunas tiendas a su rededor

Funky, cool and positive vibes with great food!! Great atmosphere, cool things to look around at (and purchase!), Trivia cards and games on tables, lots of art on the walls to gaze upon. We had Cubans. I grew up on Ybor city Cubans and I gotta tell ya...these are in the race and way up front! Fresh Cuban bread and meats..perfect amount of yellow mustard and pickles. I will try the black beans and rice next. :). Good drink selections. Very clean restrooms. Nice shady patio with lots of plants and funky art around. Happy to live locally and be able to pop in here as we want! Thanks Andrew & Bootsie for making a very cool, welcoming spot with great eats!

Quaint little town oldest inland in FL. Buildings and store fronts still original. Cuban sandwich and yellow rice topped with black beans was great. Out side or inside seating was busy at lunchtime. Order at counter then they deliver to your table.

Truly a great place to eat!!! I love their Cuban foods (sandwich, rice and beans) and I always eat here whenever I'm close to Micanopy!! And the employees are great!!!
