I am SOOOOOO very sad & unhappy to learn that this amazing Thai restaurant is no longer serving lunch. This place has the BEST food, but living almost 2 hours away, my 85 yo dad & I have probably had our last meal there. 😭 UPDATE: Thank you Paya Thai for the quick response AND for letting us know that lunch will be back!! Yay! See you then!

Excellent food and friendly staff

Unfussy place with very thoughtful staff and good reasonably priced food. Don’t miss the papaya salad - just the right balance of sweet and umami. The pineapple fried rice with chicken was sadly a bit boring. We asked for mild but expected some seasoning just not much heat. However the drunken noodles made up for that with great flavor. We arrived on the early side and watched the place fill up without anyone missing out on the attentive service we started out with.

My favorite Thai restaurant in Venice, the food has a very good flavor, and the vegetables are fresh. very good attention. The owners are Thai, and they are friendly.

Updated July 7,2024. Haven’t been here for a while and all I can say is -excellent Thai food has come to Venice. We’ve been here a few times since my last review and food was ok, but not great. Tonight, everything tasted substantially different from past meals. Not sure if there is a new chef or management, but cudos to all. Finally had my pad Thai fix after 1 1/2 years My older review - Coming from the NE, we've had the fortune to eat at many very good Thai restaurants. Paya thai didn't disappoint. The thai basil was flavorful as was the Tom yum soup. The portions were large and the food quality was very good. My wife had the tofu dish which was only fair, but out if the 6 dishes we had, 1 was fair, the others very well done. Maybe not quite NE level but the best in the the Venice/Nokomis area. It's well worth the visit and support this restaurant

Very tasty, high quality, fresh authentic Thai food, well-prepared and presented. We loved the spring rolls, pad Thai, cashew chicken and massaman curry. Good-sized portions. Easy parking behind. Highly recommended !!

We have had Thai food at several restaurants for almost four decades in south Florida. Paya Thai Curry stands out above most of them. Excellent food, friendly and prompt service. One of the best. Highly recommended!

Fabulous. I hesitate to rate this restaurant because I selfishly want to keep it secret and make it easier for us to get a table...but I have to say that there's no better or more authentic Thai food coupled with excellent service in the Venice area. We've had most of the dishes on the menu, and you can't go wrong no matter what you choose.

The older Russian women that serves table a needs to be fired. She’s going to drive all loyal customers away. I have spent a decade in the service industry and she had by far the most appalling behavior I have witnessed. She said “jeeze” and rolling her eyes when asked for separate checks, stopping us to ask for my tip money, did the same thing to our neighboring table, gave us a smart mouth comment that on a Saturday night normal people make reservation and why don’t we have a reservation (nothing in their website dates they require reservations, not even a mention they recommend one), told us we were lucky to even sit down because she’s turning everyone else away because no one knows how to make reservations. We waited for 15 minutes before getting a soft drink. She was non present and the whole experience was awful with service. We watched her the entire time from our table next to the kitchen make rude comments, roll her eyes, and treat other tables poorly. They young man who we had serve us at our prior visit was trying to help her, but she was even nasty to him. He basically saved the day by getting tables what they needing and brought out food. Food was amazing but this lady needs to go. If she can’t greet guest without attitude or not roll her eyes and express verbal distaste when customers ask for simple things like separate checks or to even just sit down and get a table. If we come back and I see her, we are trying right back around and will not be dining. Manager/owner of this place, do yourself a favor and can her before she runs your business to the ground. FYI this was the collective opinion of two other neighboring tables. I have already seen another review about her from Saturday night at 6:30pm. She’s got to go.

This is our second bad experience. Service terrible. My dish was so salty it was inedible. We had a coupon that was not taken off bill. Wife was stopped and asked for more tip money. Go to Thai bistro in Venice on 41 better food better service.

Very delicious authentic thai food, great!

I agree with a lot of the reviews I read saying how authentic the food is here. It was delicious!! We went a half hour before closing time and the waitress wanted to go home. She hurried us to order and gave us the check without asking if we wanted anything more. She circled the 20-25 percent tip meaning the 18 percent was not an option. Left feeling we had been treated rudely. The young man working was delightful and gave a friendly goodbye.

Food ok but other Thai places in the area are better.

After a third visit, I have decided that there is maybe one Thai restaurant in New York City that is better, and maybe one in Seattle. And a few at which I've eaten in Thailand. I cannot speak to Los Angeles, where there are probably some equivalent restaurants. This is a really good Thai restaurant. I wish I lived closer. The outside of the restaurant and the dining area look like many other Thai restaurants, but something very special is happening in the kitchen. There is a commitment to authenticity and quality that are is not easy to find. Pad kra prow especially good, crispy duck noodles off the charts. Hot is pretty hot, which I appreciate. This restaurant is the real deal.

We had a wonderful meal last night, good papaya salad, excellent green curry with tofu, excellent pad see-ew, and pad Thai. I also had the tom yum soup with several shrimp. Overall an excellent meal. The waitress warned us about the spice level and I read the same in the reviews but I found the medium a little mild, if could be me or the cook that night was easy on the spice. Regardless I would definitely recommend for dinner. Our friends had never had Thai food and they thoroughly enjoyed their meal. I also thought the prices were very reasonable

Paya Thai is our Sunday tradition… it is that good! We do take out and have yet to eat inside. There is always a wait, but it is worth it.. the food is always hot and delicious! Highly recommend trying their Krab Rangoon, Tom Kha soup and Panang Curry.

Lived here 4 yrs and finally stopped in. Nothing fancy about this place, just good food. Be prepared for spicy, but they will accommodate all tastes. A little pricey but portions are good enough to take home. I will be back.

Chicken Pad Thai is awesome. They have beer and wine.

After moving to Sarasota ten years ago, we finally found a Thai restaurant that's love at first bite. We ordered our usual for a first visit to a new Thai restaurant, Drunken Noodle with beef and Pad Krapao with minced chicken. We also ordered the papaya salad. We asked for the hot spice level for all three dishes, one level below Thai hot. All three dishes came out perfect in terms of both flavor and spice level. A pleasant surprise is that Drunken Noodle came with actual wide noodle. By wide, I mean 3/4 inch wide, not the 1/4 inch wide variety in all other Thai restaurants we've tried. The wider noodle has a much better texture. The papaya salad is also by far the best we've had in Sarasota. We'll go back for sure to see if the cooking is consistently this good.

The food we had at Paya Thai was excellent. The service started off okay but as it got to about half an hour before closing time we felt more and more pressured to finish our meal . The waitress constantly passing by our table and taking my plate as soon as I had finished and bringing our bill/check while my wife was still eating, and we didn’t even have a chance to think about dessert. I thought maybe I should pay straight away and left the usual tip of between 10-12% that we are accustomed to leaving in the UK. She took the money and ask if we needed any change, to which I said no she can keep it. She walked off tutting and moaning to herself, she then returned and rather rudely asked if there was anything wrong with the service, to which I said no. She walked away in a huff. We left without my wife finishing her glass of wine. Why should we be made to feel pressured into leaving a tip of between 18-22%? She spoilt the evening for us unfortunately, as the food was really good.

Thai food is really good. They didn't cut back on the portions. I ordered 2 different dishes and was only able to eat 1. Cause I was full and it was a salad. Took the rest home. The satay was really good and tasted fresh. 2nd time there.

Best Thai food in the Venice area. I've tried two other places and once I ate here, I knew I wasn't going anywhere else. Honestly just one of the best Asian food restaurants in the area overall. The Pineapple Fried rice was delicious, they use a good amount of spice when requested, and the portions are generous. You get your money's worth here. I ate Togo, but the restaurant area looked very nice and relaxing as well. I would feel comfortable sitting down here to dine as well.

Everything was absolutely perfect! I have never had such amazing taste. Wonton soup is like no other!! Best Thai I have ever had!

Great food and great service. Had the massaman curry and Pad-see-ew. Usually the big disappointment for us is lack of veggies in a noodle dish but this one was packed with veggies. Super friendly service, highly recommend! (And we are Thai food snobs)

We brought our own fresh catch in and ordered three different dishes made with the fish. It was spectacular, a very unexpected and delicious surprise. Highly recommend!

We have been coming to this establishment for a few months now, can’t understand why we have never written a review, here it is: Paya Thai Curry has NEVER disappointed. We have been eating Thai food for many years in many cities in the US (including Thailand) & Paya Thai Curry is one of the best restaurants we have eaten Thai food. We have ordered almost everything on the menu and have never had a bad meal Everything is always consistent in quality and quantity. This is a testament to the wonderful chefs and staff (Bank, Ana & Gina. Unfortunately we cannot name the wonderful kitchen staff as we don’t know their names yet ) We highly recommend this establishment for authentic Thai cuisine Thai it, you’ll like it

We go whenever we’re in town. Eaten a lot of Thai food in big cities over the years, but this is as good or better than all of them. Great menu selection, and the staff are super friendly and helpful. They do a lot of take out business, but stop in to eat as service is excellent.

This is the best Thai food i have ever had in the US. Maybe even in Thailand. Food is served extremely hot and made fresh. Bank, the young man who is the face of the restaurant is outstanding. The older white lady waitress is not very good, otherwise i would have given 5 ☆ aceoss the board. Regardless, the food is legit and i can't wait to return. HIGHLY recommended.

I had the volcano chicken for lunch. I ordered it Thai hot 5 and it was spicy and delicious. The portion was huge and could easily serve two but it tasted so good I ate it all. Cozy little restaurant seating for about 40 max with a nice atmosphere. Good food, try it you'll like it.

Very good Thai! I got take out green curry with Chicken. I asked for mild and there was a kick to it, it was very good and fresh. I also got the house salad with ginger dressing which was also very good and fresh. I will be back! I like that it is open to 9pm since we eat late. It is kinda plain inside but I don't care about that as long as the food is yummy which it was. 😋

Amazing small dining experience, great staff, and the food was phenomenal! I had the pineapple curry with double thai heat and absolutely loved it as well as the crab rangoons. I will be returning here again soon.
