This place is everything you think of when you hear "hole in the wall". Today was my first time inside Quesadilla Dona Meche. I will be back. They give you fresh chips to start with salsa. I got the Birria Tacos which are only available on Friday and Saturday. They were delicious! My husband got the poblano quesadilla with a side of avacado. They didn't charge us extra for the avacado unlike most places but let me tell you this quesadilla was the star. I will be getting this next time. We also got the chocolate cake. It was more on the dense side instead of fluffy but it was still delicious. I would def recommend this place! Sorry about the photo being taken after eatting some of it. It was an after thought.

What an amazing feeling to walk into a restaurant & feel like your surrounded by family on your 1st visit! Very warm & welcoming. Had a great conversation with Leo, a real stand up guy who is very professional, wears his heart on his sleeve and not to mention, they have incredibly clean & delicious food.. You're in for a treat!

The best Mexican food I've had and the gentleman that owns it is extremely nice and welcoming. I go to bayville a few times a year for work and stop in everytime no questions asked. Food and service are unbelievable, dining area could be a tad bigger but I'd wait hours for it, it's that good.

I got chicken tacos. It was very dry ground chicken. I was expecting shredded chicken or chopped. I'm Mexican from California. I've never had ground chicken tacos from a restaurant. The only saving grace was that the corn tortillas were fresh Hand made

Delicious!! Today I had the poblano chicken special, with a wonderful marinade for the chicken, with cheese, sautéed poblano, onions, and fresh avocado. Also served with rice and freshly made beans. Delicious! The quesadilla a la camarones was also wonderful, with homemade corn tortilla. The flan is also well worth it. In the past, I’ve had fried whole tilapia, which was spectacular. And Leo is a terrific host.

Me and my daughter had the chicken tacos, steak tacos, French fries, and beef empanadas. Everything was AMAZING!! We were greeted immediately by a happy man and my daughter commented later that he was such a nice man. Definitely going back.

The owner is very attentive to all his guests. He came out made some suggestions and I had on of his dishes excellent. The wife had pork and pineapple tacos ooh my got the match was made in heaven .The spiciness of the pork balances with the pineapple. Fantastic. Every thing is made from scratch fresh hot very consistent little place but they make you feel li m e family. Please support the mom and pop business.

Met with owner and asked if he could make trays of food for my daughter's 30th birthday. While they don't have a catering menuwe worked something out.picked up food day of party and very well organized. Food is outstanding, very authentic. My wife now loves Mexican food! My daughter was thrilled as she loves this place! All the people there are kind and friendly. Definitely going back for lunch or dinner.

Wonderful food, friendly staff, good value. My husband had the delicious Mojarra Frita (fried whole fish) and I had the quesadilla con espinaca y hongo (spinach and mushrooms). Tasty flan for dessert. Everything fresh and homemade. We had a great meal and can’t wait to go back.

We ordered chicken sopes and the trio quesadilla this past Sunday evening. The gentleman on the phone and front counter was super friendly! The food was absolutely delicious, especially the sopes!

What a wonderful little place. The staff is very warm and inviting. Place is small but cozy and comfortable. Food is real Mexican and absolutely delicious. If you haven’t tried them out you should stop in they do take out or even dine in.

There is something to be said about a small mom and pop authentic Mexican place. Small place, friendly service, clean environment, and great food! You can taste the passion they have for their homemade cooking in every bite! Definitely going to be a new favorite for our family! Highly recommend!

Absolutely love it here. The staff (especially the owner) always cooks everything authentic and fresh and we constantly feel full and know that we got our monies worth. Would highly recommend to anyone if they want authentic Mexican. The empanadas are awesome, the nachos are crunchy and fresh. Birria tacos on Friday / Saturday are amazing!

Ever since going to Texas I always have been on the search for real authentic Mexican food. I can say I have found it. The people are amazing. They're friendly and had no problems answering any questions I had. I waited to do this review because I wanted to go there more than once. both times or great. The first time I ordered the empanadas the second time I ordered the short rib quesadilla with mushrooms. If you go there, give the corn tortillas a chance. I was never a huge fan of corn tortillas. I always thought they had a grittier texture to it which is not pleasing but there's are delicious and so is there salsa verde. I would definitely give them a try if you're in the area. 👍👍👍

So good! Have only ate here once, because I just recently learned about it, but I can not wait to go back & try more. Super tasty & fresh. Great specials too. I am very picky with tacos al pastor & they knocked it out of the park for me. It's on the sweet side, but there is actual real bits of pineapple in there & when you add hot sauce, it is the perfect blend of sweet & hot...it is addictive!

Authentic and delicious, I love the quesadillas and the mango & passion fruit drinks....and the homemade tortilla chips are amazing. The owner Leo is adorable and friendly and really cares about quality & authenticity 👌 10/10

I eat out a lot and I haven't found a 5 star Mexican place until I landed here. Wow wow wow is all I have to say. The quesadilla was amazing! Homemade corn tortilla too. The homemade tamales we tried too, excellent !!! The tacos excellent, and on top of that the chocolate cake was like a brownie cake. It was to die for!! I wanted more but had to control myself! You won't be disappointed at all and the owner is so kind, friendly and listens to any questions you have to ask. He also explains everything and hangs out with you to make sure everything is 100%. Just 100% satisfying.

A great experience! The owner/operators of this restaurant sincerely appreciate your business and they express it in every way. I have eaten here several times. The staff is welcoming, friendly and will guide you through the menu items if you so desire. Food is fresh and made from scratch with generous portions. You will feel feel full but do not pass up dessert. The Tres Leches and Chocoflan are absolutely "to die for" so they will happily pack it "to go" so you can take some home to enjoy later. Their prices are in line with other restaurants, some of whom don't provide 1/2 the quality of Quesadillas Doña Meche. In case you haven't noticed.....things are costly in today's world.

Amazing food, and great service. Everyone is so pleasant and we always have a wonderful experience. We try to get something new each time we visit, and have never been disappointed. Prices are fair, portions are large, and the presentation is beautiful.

I’m so picky when it comes to Mexican food and most places in the area just don’t measure up. I’m so happy I finally found this Jem of a restaurant. They have the best authentic Mexican street tacos I’ve had in a long time. The meat is always so well seasoned, flavorful and moist and you can tell the corn tortillas are fresh and homemade (never dried out). The real star of the show are their fresh made tamales though. It is IMPOSSIBLE to find a Mexican place that makes homemade tamales (that are also delicious) in our area. They sell out a lot so you have to go early to make sure you get them. Overall this place is an 11/10. The owner is also so nice and accommodating. A must try!!!

The food was fresh and delicious. I had the shrimp tacos and my wife and daughters had the chimichangas. We will definitely be back and try the quesadillas!!

I’ve been going here pretty much since opening and the food and drinks have always been good except the last time I picked up an agua de tamarindo and it tasted so spoiled I thought there was alcohol in it. After this I probably won’t be returning because the portions are already super small for expensive tacos that they don’t even do double tortillas like other places. Also the aguas frescas are $7 for a very small glass and at other nearby places it is $5 for a HUGE container of it. After getting the spoiled tamarindo it kind of ruined this place for me, not worth it anymore.

Quesadillas is our new favorite spot in town. My favorite is the chicken tostadas. My son loves the chicken tamales. The owner is a delight and pleasure to speak with everytime we visit. Highly recommend anyone trying this restaurant 👌 10 thumbs up

I can't believe I was so fortunate to find this place I moved out of queens New York about a year ago and it's been hard to find authentic Mexican food in my area last night while driving with my wife and daughter and looking for a quick bite to eat, i searched in my area and found this authentic Mexican restaurant. Amazing place and amazing owners. Thank you for great hospitality you provided us amd not to forget the amazing tast left in my mouth from your delicious food. 🙏

Solid Mexican faire for a great price. Fantastic carnitas. Guacamole is good if you want to season it to your taste.

It is not authentic food...2 Cuban cakes for 38 and then without lettuce or tomato and without cheese, just bagged cheese

The food here is really good! We have gotten takeout here a few times. The chicken chimichangas were very flavorful and fresh. The nachos were also very tasty. And the quesadillas are delicious. Everyone is always happy with their meal. The inside looks very clean. We will definitely keep returning.

In Hamptons the food is cheaper than here!! I still leave TIP, wherever I go. $87.64 for a family of three. Thank God I'm just passing through here, in NYC♥️ the Mexican food is much tastier and the prices are fairer. Here they charged me $4 for a little jar, wow...

Absolutely fantastic l, I came in early just craving a little fresh tamales ( love) OMG- GAME CHANGER!! So good. Also enjoyed the quesadillas with fresh tortillas so good . I can't say enough that this restaurant is the best in town by far!!

Ordered from here a few times - thought the food was great until the 4th visit found not one, but three black beetle type bugs in the corn husks of my tamales. These usually are well rinsed before using. I was very turned off and haven’t returned since.

The absolute best Mexican food in the Jersey shore area I've had this far. Check them out, you won't be disappointed. The only place that I know locally that makes there tortillas from scratch. The owner Leo is a very nice guy and an amazing cook. His dedication, hard work and love for cooking stands out in every dish that I've had the pleasure of eating. My only concern is the more people that find this little gem of a place, the longer I'll have to wait for a table. A well deserved 5 star rating. 👏

$96 worth of food for 5 people...everything was dry..quesadillas, taco's, rolled taco's...requested extra sour cream and was given what couldn't have been more than an ounce container...will keep looking for a place....

Wow, thoroughly enjoyed everything….first time, wasn’t sure what to order so we went overboard—everything was excellent— trio quesadillas, beef quesadillas, chicken tacos, chicken sopes, side of rice and beans—we are from PA but now have our go to in NJ for authentic Mexican!!!!! Thanks

I only have good words for this restaurant. We tried this restaurant last night and our experience just confirmed all the positive reviews. The restaurant is very cozy and has a friendly atmosphere. Service was phenomenal. We met Giovanni who is the owner’s son, who gave great customer service and even gave us a treat. Food are reasonably priced and portions are great. Taco Al Pastor, Dona Meche Quesadilla & the Enchilada Chicken Verde were all amazingly delicious. We will definitely go back and we highly recommend you come and grab food from this restaurant.
