I was told I had to try this place, and it did not disappoint! First we were greeted with pup cups because he saw our dogs in the car. The food was delicious and the dogs were happy! Fast and really fresh

Fabulous little stopover right on the Machias/E. Machias line. People- and pet-friendly, offering a classic downeast takeout menu that hits the spot. Loved my petite haddock burger which was a PERFECT cut of lightly fried haddock on a fresh Kaiser roll. The lobster roll was also a hit with my family. Also epic cole slaw, so flavorful and crunchy. Cannot wait to return.

First time to Machias during our 3 week vacation/tour of Maine. Our lunch here did not disappoint. We ordered a crab roll, hamburger and onion rings. All were good but especially the crab roll and onion rings. We really appreciated the ice cream treats for our three dogs as this stand is VERY dog friendly.

Mark has great energy and even better food. The lobster roll was phenomenal, shrimp was great, fish was great. Tartar sauce is so good, cocktail sauce is so good. Literally everything I tried was the best. Go here, pay whatever it costs, you won't regret it!!!

I had a great experience stopping into this small roadside eatery with a very kind gentleman working the window. The food was delicious and the service was prompt. I couldn’t ask for anything better than what was displayed going here.

My partner and I stopped here when we were driving through on a trip. The food was delicious and good portions for the price. Most importantly, the folks who run the place are wonderful, friendly, and welcoming. I definitely recommend dropping by!!

Amazing food. Fries are hot and crunchy. I had the extreme BLT, which was amazing. Even the coleslaw was great. We'll definitely be stopping again the next time through!

I ate the monster. It was everything I ever wanted in a lobster roll, and more of it. Very friendly, quick service. They even have books for while you wait, including Lil Nas X's C is for Country for kids, and they are explicitly pet friendly. I also ordered popcorn haddock, which mild, fluffy and buttery, but my dog ended up snatching most of it when I wasn't looking. He ate it really fast, so I think he liked it. The onion rings were perfection. Sweet, juicy, just the right amount of crispy batter, evenly coating each ring. The pickle chips were surprisingly crisp.

Cute roadside stand with picnic tables overlooking the water. We had lobster rolls and they were amazing - a simple toasty buttery roll loaded well with tender lobster. No frills just good ingredients well made and very friendly people behind the window.

We hit here towards the end of the season, so there were quite a few things no longer on the menu. Not a problem - it's a classic Maine takeout, which means plenty of fried fish and that's what I was there for. Apparently there's two sizes of fish sandwich. I went for the large (monster haddock burger), because why not. It's a cornmeal-style coating (not battered) , so there was some crunch, and good flavor. Recommended.

Food was good and our order was ready quickly. It says they open at 11:00 but we arrived at 10:30 and they were already open. It’s all takeout, you don’t go inside, so no bathroom but there are picnic tables to eat at. Owners were friendly. We would definitely stop again!

I've been coming up to Machias for over 15 years. This is by far the best seafood I've had, by a mile. They people who work there are welcoming, kind, and so helpful. This is a must visit for anytime I'm in the area!

everything you could want from a roadside, no frills, seafood fry joint. lobster roll is about the best you'll find anywhere in Maine. and a wonderful, welcoming, inclusive atmosphere, very appreciated.

This is a truly unique roadside eatery. Run by two wonderful and wise gentlemen, they serve some of the tastiest (mostly) fried seafood we’ve ever had. Lobster rolls, fried clams baskets, fish and chips, amazing onion rings, etc. It’s all delicious. But who they are as people, and what they stand for, is truly something special. And it’s not just because they prefer animals over humans ☺️. Just read the signage as you place your order. Anywhere close to Machias, go. You will not be sorry.

Tasty food, I especially like the crab roll and the homemade lemonade. The staff are very sweet and gave our dogs ice cream with dog treats. This is a great place to stop when you’re traveling with dogs. Picnic tables provided with a view of the river. Very friendly and inclusive. This is our second visit and we will be coming back.

We stopped here for a quick bite on the way to Bar Harbor. Easily the best sea scallops we've ever had, and the haddock was also delicious!

The place is alright. $25 for a tiny lobster roll in Maine is a bit overpriced. Besides, there were pieces of shell in the roll. 3 stars for a friendly service and fish and chips. Would not choose this place for a lobster roll again.

Stopped by after a long weekend trip. We were very pleasantly surprised to have such a yummy meal on the go! We got haddock and shrimp baskets and all was delicious. We are a bit picky about our slaw and it was a thumbs up from everyone in our crew. The gentlemen mentioned that we would enjoy the cocktail sauce as it’s homemade. He was correct! It was the perfect compliment to the shrimp. The icing on the cake was when the gentleman gave cups of ice cream with bones for our pups! We thoroughly enjoyed our experience and will definitely be coming back when in the area.

Riverside is one of my favorite take-out places ever! They hands-down have the best lobster rolls that I have found in Down-East Maine. Every year on my family vacation I get a lobster roll and every year they never disappoint! The staff are absolutely wonderful and the service is great! I love the location and the message that Riverside is sending :). I highly recommend!

The food was fresh and great. We ate there twice during our vacation. I was also impressed by their using all environmentally friendly utensils and paperware! If they can do it, why can't all the chain fast food restaurants do the same?

Clams are Better then other places in Machias

Incredible staff and incredible food. I loved the lobster roll and would gladly pay $25 for it again! It wasn't as big as I expected, but the bun was overflowing with meat and it was very filling. The staff is incredibly nice and inclusive, so it felt very homely!

OMG how I have missed this monster haddock burger. It still amazes me. It was so yummy. Was saddened to see they weren't doing the homemade onion rings this year. Those were the best. Hope they decide to add them back to the menu. They are very pet friendly. They offer free water for your furbaby and also they will give you a doggie ice cream with a bone in it.

Went there a week ago. Just passing through with my sister-in-law and my 2 dogs. What a neat little place. We walked up to the window and before we could order anything a gentleman handed me 2 containers of doggie ice cream with a dog biscuit in the center. So neat that they cater to dogs here! Super pet friendly!!! My sister-in-law and myself both ordered a fish sandwich. Pretty good. Definitely didn't taste like frozen fish. She's primarily vegetarian and rarely eats meat of any kind. She was very impressed with the fish and tartar sauce. Tartar sauce can be hit or miss for me and I usually avoid it, but it wasn't overpowering and complimented the haddock very well. We both felt it was a damn good fish sandwich. Fries were solid too. If I'm ever in the area again, I'll definitely go back and would recommend them. I always like helping out a local restaurant.

Hidden gem. If you miss it it's worth turning around. Not swanky, just real good food for a fair price.
