The fish here is amazing the food overall is great

This is definitely a restaurant that caters to the atmosphere and less on ths food. Unfortunately we weren't thrilled about any of our meal from the lobster mac and cheese (the smoked gouda is overbearing) to our entrees. Atmosphere and service is great but not a restaurant we'd go to again.

We were driving down to key west and stopped for dinner. Every dish was better than the next . We cannot wait until the Square Grouper opens in key west.

We had an amazing experience! The appetizers were absolutely delicious, the best martinis, and the service was top-notch. Our waitress was very attentive and made excellent recommendations. The waiters brought out our food quickly and we did not have to sit waiting on anything. The ambience was perfect to celebrate my 50th birthday. We will see you all back in October.

Matthew gave us amazing service! Every staff member had an eye out for every table. Never had a dirty dish on our table for too long, cocktails and water were never empty. Cocktails tasted fresh well made. You have to try their oyster Rockefeller! They also have any sauce you can think of freshly made to your liking! Definitely worth the drive from homestead and will be back again!

The best food I have had in a while. The Tuna carpaccio is phenomenal! Ahi tuna nachos, oysters and empanadas are delicious. Beautiful restaurant, very nice atmosphere, great service. We will be back soon!

One of the best dinners I’ve ever had. Amazing food, allergy friendly, great portions, and beautiful presentation. Our waiter, Ron, was perfectly attentive and professional—the best!! The whole ambiance here is lovely. We highly recommend The Square Grouper!!

Ok I usually don't do this but I had the pull pork sandwich today and it was perfect!! This was truly a well balanced sandwich! The pork was cooked perfectly and had the right amount of smoke! Further more the slaw on this was not over powering but added the right amount of texture. Taken in-mind the BBQ sauce was a vinegar base so if you like sweet stick to a candy bar! The slaw was vinegar based and was well balanced!!! The first bite was like heaven! The bun was perfect and the sandwich stayed together perfectly! No mess and I had to fight my other half just to finish it!!! Kudos to the chef "Georgia Boy" on this well balanced masterpiece!!!!

The pictures do not do the food justice. Food was absolutely amazing. You can tell the recipes are made with love. Everything is delicious, even the meatloaf. I’ll be back for a repeat. Must save room for the carrot cake. Thank me later!

My main course was the Almond Encrusted Grouper ($48). The grouper was overcooked, it came with mashed sweet potatoes that were too sweet for my taste. Not worth the price at all.The service and the atmosphere are very good. We had Calamari and Oysters Rockefeller to start, both delicious. I would go back but just order appetizers or small plates. The drinks were very good!

Good food, probably our best meal in Islamorada. The bar upstairs was great, excellent bartender staff. Downstairs drinks were not at the same standard but the food was delightful.

If our table of 4 could give 10 stars we would. Especially for our server Brook. We showed up at 12:30 this afternoon then promptly seated. Brook added a joyful vibe and outstanding hospitality by making sure we had waters filled and our libations fresh without waiting. She was quick and always available even if we didn’t know we needed her lol. Her smile and genuine accolades for her coworkers, managers and venue made the experience that much more enjoyable. The entire staff pitches in and is knowledgeable about the menu and specials. There’s an efficient system going on at this establishment that a lot of companies could learn from and not just restaurants. The food was hands down perfect. Just the right size portions and the tastiest I’ve had in a long time. Less salt and butter and a lot of fresh herbs and spices keep you from feeling bloated. All and all a very delicious and joyful experience. Prices are worth every penny and not exorbitant. We will be back. We were very comfortable

We only got the pies to go so we can’t comment on the restaurant setting but the key lime pie was delicious. Best I’ve had.

Husband and I stopped in on our way to Key West more for some funny shirts, but ended up eating lunch here and it was so good! 3 years in a row coming to the keys from Sarasota and this restaurant had the best food we’ve had. Husband got the filet sliders, I got blackened grouper tacos and a Bloody Mary. He loved his, I loved mine, and we both said it was the best Bloody Mary we’ve ever had! Highly recommended!!! Will be back!

Such a good place to eat! The menu was awesome, and so was the service. We had a great experience on the patio watching some manatees while enjoying the grouper and calamari which both fantastic!

Just dropped in for a sunset cocktail. Cocktails, atmosphere, staff and service were fantastic. We loved this place. Unfortunately the sunset was disappointing and we had to run the gauntlet of a tropical storm as we left. I got so wet I needed a change of clothing before we could go for dinner.

This place is awesome! Their seafood is super fresh and their oyster selection is unmatched. Check out upstairs and all the cool artwork depicting the drug-smuggling history of the Florida Keys. Say hi to James and Chris who bartend upstairs.

I will visit this place again the next time I am in Islamorada and try out the first floor restaurant. The food we had on the third floor was nothing to rave about- but the service was OUTSTANDING. We did have oysters and I personally felt they were really good, but out ceviche (part of specialty menu) was a tiny portion for the whopping $27 we paid. The ambiance was 5/5 and honestly I am excited to go back just to test it out and be treated so nicely by their staff!

This place is AWESOME!!! Absolutely worth the wait! Also share the truffled lobster mac & cheese! It’s out of this world delicious!

We waited 1/2 hour for a table off season and it was well worth it. Our server Katie was excellent, the drinks were good and the food fabulous. Started with fried conch and calamari both were prepared well. The lobster mac has plenty of big chunks of lobster. The scallops were great and I would go back just for the sweet potato hash browns with pork belly.

SO GOOD. EXCEPTIONALLY TASTY AND FUN. We consider ourselves to be in the "Fish Snob" category, and this place delivers on ALL the goods. Fresh, very fresh, tasty fish options and preparations. Excellent appetizers, tasty craft-made fresh cocktails, and excellent service. The entire wait staff that tended to our table was exceptional. And the desert menu options, also very sweet!! The vibe is upbeat, feels very "Islamorada Chic" and is exactly the type of place that both locals and visitors can be happy about. It is not inexpensIve, but it is still a great value for the entire dining experience. Lunch is amazing too.The atmosphere is perfect, and with a great interior design, and the outdoor views of the marina inlet bring the Islamorada vibe to each table. Don't forget to enjoy the upstairs views also. Thanks Square Grouper, you make Islamorada proud.

Out on the boat, called the reception desk to see if they weee open. Dove all the way over parked the boat walked inside eight minutes after they closed and said they couldn’t service us for lunch. In this day and age, you would think that they would hire competent people to let them know that we’re closing soon. Spoke with the manager, said that our policy and walked away as an establishment so much energy into remodeling and making a higher quality staff that’s constantly losing business. The marina manager couldn’t apologize enough! Sad when locals actually write reviews on places that they were happy to see you doing well

This place is great! Loved the food, atmosphere and view of the canal at the marina! The groupler sandwich was delicious but that burger they have is amazing!! Next time we will try the rooftop bar, opens at 4:20pm!

The cocktails, service and food are amazing! We came on a Thursday and had the lobster grilled cheese - it is the best! Also yellowfin tuna tacos are incredible. Prices are affordable too!!

This place is good the fish is great the atmosphere is amazing my only complaint is the flys our waiter did bring a fly fan but that was half way through a way they can improve is by already having the fans there but besides the flys the experience was good

Uber here if you can. Parking is challenging. Expect a 1-2 hour wait for dinner if your party is 4+. Great food and service every time.

Stumbled across this place on our way to Key West. It will be a destination from now on! Sunday brunch, we were seated immediately, drinks came within 5 minutes, entrees in less than 10. I had the Cuban mohjo hash which was delicious and my wife loved the tuna avocado rolls. Our server Katie was the best. Love, love this place!

Some of the best food I have ever had! The service was great and super attentive. The atmosphere was phenomenal, the decor was a sophisticated tropical vibe without being kitschy, and the artwork was excellent. The drinks were also out of sight. The price was also very reasonable for how excellent everything was. I can’t say enough good things about The Square Grouper!

On a Friday evening, they were slammed. We had a bit of a wait but we're served cocktails during the wait. The food portions were ample and delicious, but the best part of our experience was our wonderful server, Kim. She was taking care of several other tables but always made us feel well taken care of, and she was so warm and friendly. We loved our whole experience at this place. They have perfected their craft. We highly recommend the Square Grouper!

Upstairs and downstairs are two separate dining experiences. I recommend going on two different nights to experience both.

To say this restaurant has surpassed everything we look for in a restaurant is an understatement! We are definitely frequent flyers when it comes to visiting Square Grouper - Islamorada. Mor specifically the Sunset Lounge upstairs. The quality of food, drinks and service is bar none, the best in the Upper Keys!

Food is great. Service too. Atmosphere the same. Price is the only that could be better, small portions for the tag.

The Square Grouper was my favorite dining experience of my trip to the Keys. The space is clean and decorative, without falling into every tired Florida Keys cliché than can tend to dominate other places. The table service was really on point. Great water service, speedy food delivery, really informative server, throrough table clearing. We sat on the patio and loved the view of the marina. All the food was great, the key lime pie was the standout. I'm a restaurant owner myself, and was really impressed by what they're doing here! Would definitely return.

Moved to the US 18 months ago and this restaurant wasn't only the best food we've had in Islamorada whilst on holiday, but the best restaurant we've been to period in the US. Amazing food, and amazing service to match.

This places makes you feel like you are in your city eating at your favorite and very special place, you will never feel like you are on an island. Food is great, not cheap but it definitely worth it. I will repeat it again and again. Such a special vibes in there.! I normally never have any desserts but this place has the best sweets that you can never say no to

Love this place, our best dinner in Islamorada this week. The grouper piccata is amazing, but good options for non-fish eaters as well. The lollipop wings are cool as well, and the tuna/avocado egg rolls were different and delicious. Loved the ambiance on the outside deck.

Square Grouper was fantastic! The food and drinks were great and the staff even better. My husband accidentally left his credit card and with the restaurant being closed on Mondays and Tuesdays we were still able to get in touch with someone and they kindly overnighted us our credit card! We will definitely be back!! 👍

Great dining experience (once again). This place never disappoints. We always come here while vacationing in the keys. Our crew loved everything we ordered to include… Shrimp and Grits Classic Grouper Sandwich Fish of the day Chicken fingers Mike took excellent care of us. We had no wait whatsoever…which never happens. The sweet potato fries and chicken fingers were surprisingly yum! The side salad is huge and the blue cheese dressing tasted homemade! Love this place. I highly recommend it. Late note: Get the Bread Pudding Brownie thingy to share OMG!

Love the hospitality and the people that are employed by the company. Always have a great experience with the service and food. Tony springs the upstairs bartender is one of the most professional and hard working people in the business. I really recommend you to get a chance to spend the time to experience the restaurant in person.

Best restaurant in the upper Keys

We are locals to the Square Grouper in Cudjoe Key and decided to try out their new second location. The atmosphere was so nice over looking the water. You can dine indoor our outdoor and still have a great view. Our waitress was phenomenal! So attentive and funny. The food was phenomenal! We had their appetizer special of the night which was bang bang shrimp and it was the best I’ve ever had. The flash fried conch is another MUST. I had the seafood combo key lime pasta and it was chefs kiss. Lastly, the Tahitian Ice cream is also a must! (even if you’re full.. and trust me you will be. Make room for the Tahitian ice cream!)

Everything was fantastic and it lived up to the hype and 30 minute wait. Atmosphere and vibe were one of the nicest we have seen in the keys, service was top notch and it was the best meal we had all vacation from apps to entrees to dessert. The have limited seating for large groups so we had an easier time getting in with a group of 5 vs 7. They were super nice as well to our 3 year old whole we waited for a table and having a server bring us drinks for on the front patio

Pricey but worth it. Would recommend as a solo diner as well.

Maleah was an incredible server, very attentive with our table as well as other parties. The scallops were the best I’ve ever had in my life. Tuna Avo Egg rolls are a must for an appetizer. Drinks were also well balanced and flavorful. I will go out of my way to come back here any time I’m in the area.

Excellence all around!! Sharon was our server for our late lunch on the Friday before Memorial Day Weekend. We had a lovely water view, delicious food and top notch service. Super fresh everything from our starter to dessert. Highly recommend this place. Will definitely return!

We live in Key Largo and absolutely love Square Grouper. The staff and atmosphere are upbeat and amazing, and the food is always wonderful. My only complaint is that it’s not closer to us!

The absolute most delicious meal I’ve had in a very long time. The almond encrusted grouper is to die for. Perfectly paired with sweet potato and string beans . The key lime pie is the best in all the keys and we even tried the bread pudding. Mind blowing!!

I have no idea how this place has a 4.7-star Google review rating. I've gone to finer restaurants in Islamorda, but the appetizers weren't very good. The server was pressing for us to place our orders quickly, which made me feel uncomfortable. The service was ok overall. I wouldn't return.

Every time we are in the keys, we go at least twice. Love this place.

Overall service was great but my child ordered medium done sliders, and the inside of them were raw after she tried taking a bite and it was stretchy and not done at all. They ended up giving us a refund and desert.

Wait downstairs was 90 minutes. We ate upstairs, the food and service was outstanding.

Amazing service, very tasty food, not posh but not low end atmosphere. We had the Panko fish of the day with a citrus sauce, and you were super light and delicious. We had the fried calamari appetizer (far from ordinary)which was good enough for four people to share ask for a side of tartar sauce. Key Lime Pie well executed, tart and delicious. Local Draft Beer options.

The square grouper was a wonderful surprise discovery on our way to Key West. Everything about the restaurant was to my liking as an avid boater. The fish dip and the mahi sandwich were particularly good.

Hands down best food in Islamorada. And you must see the Sunset Lounge upstairs. Gets packed early and they close before closing time because waitlist would go beyond closing time. But go in and see if seats at the bar or eat off small menu upstairs. Get the Empanadas!! Wait, everything- So, so worth it!!
