Five Stars for my server Alejandro. He was polite and very attentive. However my experience wasn’t exactly fine dining. I was alone and the hostess wasn’t personable at all, just showed me to the table and that was it. No Maitre D to help me with my chair or to make sure I was having a nice time. The blinds next to me were covered with dust and had me sneezing for the rest of the day. I went to the ladies room and there was a horrible sewer smell at the door, so I didn’t bother going in. The food was lovely, but I won’t return.

My dad’s favorite DC food establishment. We celebrate all big moments here. We’ve gotten the same server both time and he was phenomenal.

We had a remarkable dinner tonight, with fabulous service. This place is expensive & worth it. We both had filet mignon, and loved it. My husband had the lobster, which was great, and I had creamed spinach, which I loved. We both totally enjoyed the cheesecake for dessert. 🥰🥰🥰

I'm delighted to give Capital Grill a five-star review. The dining experience here is truly unparalleled! First off, the steak and fries are absolutely delicious and definitely worth trying. Secondly, the service is exceptional; the staff are friendly and professional. Lastly, the interior design, which is both classic and vintage, is exactly how I imagine a great American restaurant should look. A perfect dining experience indeed!

We came for the generous pour and tasted the 7 different wines on the menu. Bill Cribbin was an excellent waiter and kept us informed and engaged. The food was excellent and cooked to perfection. We really enjoyed ourselves this is a great place to go before the generous pour is over on September 1st.

The other tables were sooo loud we could barely listen to each other. The waiter was on a rush or something and he brought almost burnt steaks and wrong dishes. Cant recommend.

The oysters were succulent and the lamb Ribs were just majestic. Went there for a quick celebration dinner, had almost everything they had on their dinner menu, my favourites were the oysters and the calamari for starter. The chef’s recommendation Sliced tenderloin and lobster tail was nice, but the lamb ribs 🏆

Generous pour, no more. A once beloved wine flight ruined by capitalism. Used to be $35 unlimited, now $45 for 2oz per bottle until the last pour. Food was good though.

Service and food were perfect. I had the bone in ribeye, asparagus, and a drink. The procini ribeye has always been my favorite. Service was first class as always

I normally love this franchise but my experience last night was really underwhelming. The hostesses were really nice upon entering the restaurant. But there was at least 20 minutes that went by before we saw our server. We went for the generous pour wine tasting and the first two pours were flat. The rose and the Sauvignon Blanc were flat. We requested new bottles and the manager did bring out new bottles and that helped tremendously. Nevertheless our server Nicole often looked over our table. And disappeared frequently leaving us looking to other servers to get us what we needed. It was a very underwhelming experience to say the least.

I had the lobster bisque and Filet Oscar. The lobster bisque was good but it was nothing special. The Filet Oscar was good, but the crab cake in the filet oscar was a little bit dry. It was okay. Just like the filet mignon in my filet Oscar, it was okay. For the level of luxury, it was just... okay. The service was good and the atmosphere was very good too. They provided a table that is a little bit small, but at least they accommodated all of us in one table, which was good. Overall, it was good, but nothing special.

The CG DC never disappoints. It was our 38th wedding anniversary and it was a perfect evening. Jarred was our waiter and he was excellent! The valet is always so welcoming and makes us feel special.

Sea bass was tender and delicious!

When you go to a steakhouse of this caliber, you get a steak. It's even better when the boss is paying the bill. Great quality dry aged strip and the technical skill to serve a sized group (11) perfect dishes. The waiter had a brilliant personality and was enjoyable. The cocktails were a huge miss; uninspired and not very good. As a wine lover, I have regrets for following the crowd and not pairing wine. Their wine collection has some very nice options.

I have celiacs and wanted to know if I could eat anything at the Capital Grille. The chef visited with me to let me know what I could eat. I found out I could eat a lot. William Bednar went above and beyond! I had purple grits with shrimp and it had the perfect amount of seasoning and spice. I also had pineapple with brulee, pistachio pana cotta, and it was garnished with whipped cream. Thank you William for keeping me safe with such delicious dishes!

Dining here is a treat! Can’t say enough nice things about the impeccable service, especially the bartenders who are professional and fun. It’s been a while since I had a proper dinner here (normally I meet friends for cocktails and bar snacks) but went with my father for an honest steak dinner. Incredibly tasty options. I had a ribeye with crab on top and my dad got the NY dry aged steak. So much flavor. Very much recommend the au gratin potatoes and sautéed garlic spinach as sides. The dessert menu was tempting but we preferred to allocate the calories to liquid dessert ;)

The hostess, khadija (sp?) is AMAZING! I wandered over (with no reservations) after spending some time at the museum. She was kind enough to stalk out a spot at the VERY busy bar for me. Management needs to give her a raise because that's the treatment you remember that prompts good reviews.

Just OK. Used to be better. The one in NYC is better in my opinion.

Amazing experience, staff, food and location!

As always Capital Grille does not disappoint. Service well done! The sliced filet ordered medium rare plus, just perfect . To accompany dinner the generous pour where you can sample 7 different wines. Great place for dine when in D.C.

We ate at the Capital Grille downtown. Very clubby which is fine. And the staff were very friendly and accommodating (we had a four-year old). The food though was just ok. The Cobb salad was sort of mushy - I don’t know how to describe it, but I didn’t eat it.

I could cook a much better steak myself. Steak quality was a little iffy for a $60+ steak too

The waiter was excellent and the only reason this was worth my money. We were put in a corner. It’s was crampy. There’s wasn’t space. The food was plain and dry. I didn’t want it. I think it wasn’t cooked all the way. I won’t be going back there.

Talk about class. This place has it up the wazoo & rightfully so. The service here is impeccable. Everything we got (various cuts of steak) was tasty & they even brought us champagne & dessert for our engagement, which was a nice touch (& surprise)! This is the kind of place you’d take family in town, to celebrate a special occasion, or if you just want to have a nicer dining experience.

I think I've ate the best sandwich I've ever had there. The Ribeye Steak was phenomenal. The Mojitos were also a delight. The Restaurant itself was a little bit to chilly for my taste. Turn up that ac.

DG was a considerate and kind server. Calamari starter was large portion and very good. Hamburger was delicious! Steak sandwich and steak were mediocre, as was salmon salad.

Excellent 1st time experience. The calamari was tooo spicy, and I looove spicy food. I had the filet mignon which is the best I had to date. The mocktails were the best I had in the states since I visited Dubai. Not to mention, their cheesecake is top tier. The cheesecake is not too sweet and very light, I had to take one home.

Great service and food was just as good. My wife and I sat at the bar for a light lunch and there were plenty of seats at the bar along with tables both inside and outside. Alex Fernandez, the bartender provided outstanding service and great recommendations!

We had a great experience at The Capital Grille. Our waiter was knowledgeable about the menu & gave great suggestions! We took our 5yo & 7yo & the staff helped them enjoy a nice dining experience. The best sides were the Brussels sprouts and the lobster mac n cheese! Overall, great dining experience!

Dry aged beef, cooked perfect, and the atmosphere was amazing! Pricey, but you get what you pay for. Just wish there was a full menu at lunch time. Our wait staff member was just great!! Next time I come to DC will definitely have to stop back in at dinner.

Man what a steak! I asked for MR light and got it perfect! Gorgonzola encrusted dry aged NY strip. 2.5 inches cooked to perfection. The coconut pie was no slouch either.

6 of us were in for supper last night. We are in town for THE NAA'S Day on the Hill. We had a great evening at this restaurant. The service was superb, and the food was delicious.

Make sure to keep copy of your receipt and take a picture of your dine-in receipt as they added an extra $50 on top of our tip. Good thing, I kept a copy of it. They refunded me the $50 and that is all! Totally not a mistake at all, of course if you changed the tip, the total amount would calculate wrong! A dishonest restaurant. I have all the proof!

The waiter, Daniel, provided outstanding service. He was very attentive, conversational, and made excellent lunch suggestions.

This review would’ve initially gotten a 3 star review due to the host giving my partner a dirty look upon arrival (blonde white woman with a bun), however our wonderful waiter, Eric H., completely elevated the experience. He was very attentive and engaging, made lots of conversation and made our first visit a pleasant one. We’ll be on the lookout for him upon our next visit to The Capital Grille.

Best Steak House in DC. The service is amazing, the food is premium quality, and the drinks are quality. A true experience for lunch or dinner. I recommend the Seafood Plateau, Ribeye, and potatoes au gratin.

Ordered a medium but got rare on the inside and black on the outside. Way too expensive for the quality they deliver.

I just needed a night of comfort. No matter what Capital Grille I go to, I can expect to feel welcomed and accommodated.

My family and I have eaten at this restaurant twice. The first time was about 7 years ago while on a school trip to the city. That time, we had lunch. It was the BEST burger we’ve ever had. So much so, that we still talk about it to this day. While visiting the city again for the F1 show, we couldn’t resist eating at The Capital Grille again. This time,, we enjoyed dinner with the lobster mac & cheese, truffle fries, and tuna tartare. All were amazing!! Colleen was our waitress. She was super friendly and very attentive. If/when we visit DC again, we will most definitely include The Capital Grille on our itinerary.

Erin was the best manager I could ask for, my family came during the F1 event and it was extremely hectic. Erin dealt with so much disrespect, physical assault, etc, and still remained professional and poised. Carlos and Erin, took care of my family and made sure we were fed, safe and happy. I’d gladly go back! Not to mention, the male manager protected the restaurant like it was his own! It was tons of degenerates trying to disrespect and ignore the rules of the establishment, but he held strong. Outstanding place to eat!

Great customer service! Calamari here is sooo good. We ordered 2 different types of steaks and they were goot as well, but it's not like we have to come back just to have the steaks again.

The bar staff blatantly ignored us and our bartender (when finally waited on) was quiet and in an overall terrible mood. It appeared as if they were in a shift change, and the manager also ignored us and stared right at us as we waited with no service. An overall very strange and poor experience and we will not be back.

The bartender was engaging and laughed at my Dad joke. The filet with poached lobster tail was fork tender and offered everything I hoped for. Check our the dry age case by the door.

We dropped in for a late lunch and were fortunate to get a table (reservations strongly recommended.) Absolutely perfect! I had the Seared Salmon with Mediterranean Couscous, Asparagus and Heirloom Tomatoes. My wife had Roasted Chicken with Mushroom Parmesan Risotto. Everything was cooked to perfection. Service was exemplary—Manuel took great care of us and presented his business card so that we could ask for him next time we visit.

Found a gem here! By myself from out of town looking for a good steak dinner, something unique though and DC style, but not snooty - well this is the place. Defi tely will be part of my DC routine. Cool relaxed hip high quality vibe as soon as you walk in. Everyone was friendly, talkative, and seemed generally happy to be there and that you came in.

Start by asking for Manuel! That man knows how to make your experience enjoyable! There dry aged NY Strip was phenomenal! Beautiful dining experience! The fillet mignon my son had was cooked to perfection, and tasted great! The lobster bisque was full of lobster, and worth every penny!

Having lunch here crowned a great vacation in DC. The place is unique and has a fantastic and unique environment. While the menu is not extensive, the variety is good and has excellent options. Quality of the meat is top notch. Service was super attentive and engaging. Wine list is big and with amazing options.

During a busy day of touring the Capital, we made reservations, wanting to know we would have a restful stop. What a lovely location. Our meals were amazing: Cobb salad with tenderloin and Salmon with Mediterranean couscous. Our server, Manuel P. added the perfect blend of warmth and professionalism. A tie highlight of our day! First, and most positive, the food was to die for- especially the steak and mushrooms. I have no regrets about that. However, the service was disappointing. I’ve been to the New York location before under a different name and received excellent service. The DC location did not have the same standard of service- I assume that the person and I eating there were judged based on the fact that we looked relatively young and our server assumed that we would not be good tippers. We struggled to flag down a server multiple times when my friend’s water ran out- even as the server passed us going to and from other tables in the section. This happened relatively frequently. We were aware that the other tables were being paid far more attention to and taken better care of. This was beyond frustrating for the price tag. I never mind paying for good food at a high end restaurant and tipping accordingly, but high-end service should be expected to come with it. In addition, the restaurant was louder than expected, for fine dining. There were kids at another table who were not up to the dress code. Long story short: The food is delicious and the highlight of the experience. They will serve you properly if you look the part of a fine diner, but apparently, we did not. It wasn’t a bad experience and I don’t regret the evening, but I’ll be seeking out a difference restaurant next time I come to visit DC.

First time going and it was for my boyfriend’s birthday and when I say they are top tier? I mean just that. The hostess, atmosphere, and food was amazing! Our waiter was phenomenal. The food is just okay, but it is staggeringly expensive. The wait staff is above average. At busy times, the restaurant is so noisy that it's difficult to hold a conversation with dinner companions.

My wife and I traveled to Washington DC for a business trip and dined there on our final night the place was so warm and inviting, the staff was over the top excellent my wife had the French onion soup and a salad and it was the most delicious and decadent soup I had ever eaten my steak was overcooked and chard on the bottom side so it was not what I expected all in all it was a 9 out of 10 for me , but will definitely return if we are in DC again

Very pricey, but that's what you'd expect. Ordered the ribeye, and it was massive. Delicious too of course, but because it was so large, and didn't come with any extras on the plate, after a while you start to wonder how you're still eating steak. The mashed potatoes we ordered on the side and the bread options are also fantastic, the au gratin that my wife got, not so much, the only miss of the night, but they comped it, so no harm there.

Nice food and the pricey side but it's totally worth it.

Capital Grille is an amazing dining experience. The ambiance takes you back into time when restaurants really went out of their way to make their diners happy. The best part of our experience was our waiter Jared Johnson. He was friendly, welcoming, accommodating, and so knowledgeable about the menu. Everything he recommended was great —wine, appetizer, entree, and dessert were an absolute delight. Try the lobster bisque with REAL lobster throughout and the creamy, flakey sea bass with sautéed mushrooms! Yum!

Didn't call in for reservation... Waited about an hour. WORTH the wait! Impeccable service! Great ambiance! Steaks to die for...
