We have been here a few times and each time the service is gradually getting worse. The food is great and the atmosphere is great, but the service. Our server on the last visit came to bring drinks and food and then came with the bill an hour later. It wasn't for lack of trying either.

Little bit of a ride for us, but the food makes it worthwhile. My favorite dish is the shrimp sandwitch. The she crab soup is thick and tasty and the drinks are great, although they could use a touch more alchohol. Open to 4 on Saturday and 2 on Sunday

Excellent meal start to finish. We went for Saturday brunch - and it was so hard to choose what to eat! A few of us had the breakfast grilled cheese (plus bacon) which was excellent. The potato casserole on the side was so flavorful. One had salmon Benedict and she loved it. We had a few desserts - so good I can’t pick a favorite. Coconut cream pie, strawberry cream pie, and apple cobbler. All excellent. Most importantly our server, Lindsey, was excellent. Attentive, great suggestions, so friendly. Can’t wait to go back and try more of the menu!

Went here for my birthday brunch with my husband and two friends and every one of us was ecstatic about our food and drink choices. This was my second time here with the same amazing experience. They do everything well from the chicken and waffles, to seafood quiche to the amazing big and fresh salads. Don’t miss out on the cocktails either, we all tried very different selections and they were all fresh and delicious! The atmosphere here alone makes it an enjoyable experience as well, it makes you feel like you’re having a meal on a ship on vacation.

Loved this cute little nautical spot. We came for brunch the food was fantastic. I had the seafood quiche and every bite had seafood. Had a lovely late lunch here and the service was incredible even walking in 30 mins before closing. From great cocktails to a perfectly prepared crabcake sandwich + potato casserole side. Couldn't leave without a gift card for my mom to enjoy all the deliciousness as well!

This place isn't just about delicious dishes; it's a whole maritime adventure. Their baked and raw oysters are shuckin' good! Whether you like 'em au naturel or jazzed up and baked with a beautiful garlic parmesan, these mollusks will have you slurping like uncultured swine. And their she crab soup? So creamy, you'll swear it's doing the backstroke in your mouth. Most importantly, the lobster grilled cheese...? So amazing, it practically waves at you before you devour it like you've never eaten before.

On our breakfast quest to find spots on the beach on the weekends. We landed one! We've never had scrambled egg whites, and our waitress brought them by mistake. They are the best thing ever. The blackened snapper sandwich 👌🏽all of our food, was beyond expectations. Our waitress was prompt and kind. Even suggested where to find mudslides, we've been on the search for.

Who wants to eat their very small portions of food out of a dirty dirty cigar box?! This can't pass a health inspection yet alone keep German cockroaches out of them! This is Florida, ya know? Totally unsanitary. And, lose the attitudes. Ever heard of customer service? Especially when the food is tasteless and overpriced.

I have to say, this place is my favorite in St Pete. I’ve visited many times and ordered multiple things on the menu. Everything is consistently fresh, high quality and delicious. Bonus points for a beautiful nautical atmosphere and great service. The bartender Angie is the best!

The Helm has quickly become my favorite place for brunch/lunch. Everything I have tried on the menu has left me impressed, both food and drinks. The reviews saying the lobster roll was lacking must be crazy. The best part is the staff, the moment you walk in the door you can tell how much of a family they are. My only complaint is that they don’t serve dinner!!! Come try for yourself, you won’t be disappointed.

Went to this place because my friends raved on and on about it and wanted to take me somewhere special for my birthday. We were sat outside and our server seemed very bubbly and friendly. We all ordered our drinks and appetizers. After a very long wait, we got our drinks (except me). After waiting over 10 additional minutes, I finally went inside and asked someone at the counter for my iced tea. When our appetizers came out, I found a hair in my food (gross). Our server never came back to see how things are going. Then our food came out but what I ordered wasn't what I got. I ordered the Big Salad, the menu said it had roast beef, ham, and turkey. I got only turkey. No explanation from the person who brought the food out as to why I only got turkey which would have been nice. How do you screw up a salad that you've advertised with 3 different meats?? I gave the guy my plate with the hair on it and said that was pretty gross. Later, our server came out to ask how the food was and if anyone needed more drinks, some at our table ordered more drinks, I asked for more tea. She came out later and brought everyone their drinks (except me.. AGAIN). I finally took my glass in and asked another person at the front counter for a refill. She went to the bar and got me my drink, I took it and went to sit down. All this time, our server is out on the patio asking other tables "if they need more of this or that, do you need a tea or drink to go?" She came back and asked if anyone needed anything else. I asked for more tea, never got it. When she brought the check out, she apologized for the hair being in the crab fries and asked if we wanted desert. We were all kind of disgusted with the service and food and said no. They didn't take off the She Crab Fries (that came out with a black hair as a garnish) from our bill. I would not recommend this place and would never go back. There are plenty of other places to eat that offer quality food and good service. The fact that I had to go and get my own drink not once, not twice, but on 3 separate occasions is laughable and unacceptable.

Mothers' Day Brunch 2024. Food was wide variety, and all good! My wife & her mom enjoyed the mimosas greatly! All in all our group really enjoyed our experience. We will be back for a dinner.

The cheese and lobster sandwich was awesome. Parmesan fries not tasty, no parsley, little flavor. The chicken and waffle was pretty good, chicken just a bit dry. The biggest issue was the expresso martini that came with little kahlua and almost no froth, I requested to add a dash of kahlua and shake it properly, but they just brought me a shot of kahlua after a while of waiting, then had to wait again and they made a more shaken version without the extra kahlua... not a good experience for a very easy and popular drink. Please review how to make a good expresso martini. There was minimal A/C indoors, which was not really comfortable.

Great food, great atmosphere, great service

Visiting The Helm has been the highlight of my vacation this week. The food is delicious, the drinks are refreshing and garnished beautifully. You can really tell that every employee enjoys what they do here. The details of the restaurant are very thought out from the decor to the plating of each dish. Highly recommend to anyone in the area. HELM YEAH!!!

Started with a bloody mary which was tasteless, had to add salt and pepper to give it a little bit of taste but still couldn't finish it. My friend got the signature bloody Mary which was exactly the same but with a piece of shrimp - a $4 upcharge for it. Service was less than mediocre. Waitress barely spoke to us, and did the bare minimum. Ordered the lobster roll and it was absolutely tasteless, same with the parmasean fries. The parmasean/garlic oysters were good but overpriced. Now after having eaten there I'm shocked at all the 4+ star reviews because this was definitely not my experience. I won't be back.

Welcomed by an exceptionally upbeat host, we were initially optimistic about the dining experience ahead. We kicked off our meal with some Bloody Mary’s, but unfortunately, they missed the mark. The mix didn't quite harmonize with my palate, making them a struggle to finish. However, our hopes were somewhat restored when the garlic Parmesan oysters arrived. Though a bit on the pricey side, they proved to be a flavorful indulgence. Next up was the much-anticipated lobster roll, presented with flair but lacking in taste. The bun, while visually appealing, fell short on the promise of being buttery and flavorful. The lobster itself failed to impress, leaving us underwhelmed. Optimism was somewhat restored with the chicken and waffles, which were satisfying, albeit with room for improvement. While the waffles hit the mark, the chicken could have been crispier for that perfect balance of textures. However, the biggest disappointment came in the form of our waitress. Unlike the attentive and engaging wait staff we observed tending to other tables, ours seemed disinterested and lacked the enthusiasm to enhance our dining experience. Overall, while the coastal ambiance and initial warm welcome set high expectations, the inconsistency in food quality, coupled with lackluster service, left much to be desired. Hopefully, with some adjustments, this restaurant can live up to its full potential and deliver the exceptional dining experience its setting promises.

I just discovered this place the other day. The serve brunch and lunch daily. Please check them out! They had some of the best baked oysters I had in a long time. Also get a side of their parmesean fries. You won't regret it! The drinks were delightful and refreshing. I had the white sangria and the gin elderberry drink with lavender. I can't wait to go back and try more things!

I want to preface that this review is mostly around the way we treated by I assume the owner or man who manages the place. When my friend called to make a reservation, the man was snotty and rude over the phone, acting like it was an issue to call and make a reservation for brunch 2 days in advance. I would definitely say this place gets points for an upscale nautical atmosphere, and cool decor. However, the older gentleman who tends to the phone and works behind the bar needs to learn how to keep his sarcastic and snide comments to himself. While dining there our server was great, no complaints about her. My friend and I ordered a dozen oysters, that I was excited to try. When the oysters came they looked fine, but there were a few that did not taste right at all. So as soon as I noticed an off smell to one of the oysters and was asked if everything was ok with them I was mocked after saying it didn’t taste right.The gentleman behind the bar came and asked us about them, we told him we didn’t finish because the oysters tasted “funky” to which he replied in a very snarky tone “well oysters are funky!” At this point we didn’t request a refund, or complain further, but his response was rude. In typical Florida fashion this place will razzle dazzle you with some okay tasting food and up charge you for presentation in a cigar box. The lobster roll was okay, crab fries were great. I would not recommend if you’re looking for something authentic.

The Helm is a newly converted breakfast/brunch/lunch restaurant. The food is great and perfectly prepared. Service is extremely attentive. The atmosphere masterfully designed sea themed that is both casual and upscale, which works great for the beach town. Captains daily catch is always fresh and healthy portion. The French toast is to die for. Wish they were open for dinner.

Went to for Easter was Informed when we sat down it was buffet style 70 dollars plus drinks way over priced for the selection and I live here within a mile

Went for Easter Sunday brunch. Food was above average but but not worth $70 per person. Especially when they ran out of food. We will never be going for brunch again.

This place was yummy. Packed with older people for lunch, lol. Our waiter was amazing, so refreshing to receive great service. We ad lunch and it was good but I can't remember what it was. I would go again.

Spectacular food with all of the perfect finishing touches from the food presentation to the atmosphere. I could eat every meal here. I left with a full belly, a full heart, and a kitchen towel from the market shop!

Wow, what a surprise, the food, the atmosphere and the service. We ordered the Mahi Mahi, sandwich, fish of the day, full of flavor. The crab fries had the perfect amount of crab to sauce ratio. The chicken and waffles were perfectly cooked, with the waffles being sweet without adding any syrup to it. Plus, the hickory smoked bacon jam was a pleasant surprise. Just be mindful they close at 4pm.

I was really excited to try this place from all the reviews. Server recommended the lobster roll. Presentation was nice. The lobster itself was fresh, however it was absolutely tasteless. The roll wasn’t buttered or toasted. The pineapple slaw again flavorless and tasteless, like cabbage tossed in water. Service was nice but slow. I would come back to try something else.

Anytime I visit the helm its a wonderful experience. The staff is super friendly, and the food is amazing! Two of my favs are the chicken and waffle, and breakfast grilled cheese! If you haven't been yet, I HIGHLY recommend.

Writing this as I leave the restaurant because we had such an amazing experience. My husband and I came in for lunch and this is a new favorite for us! We ordered a mix of the regular and Mardi Gras menus. Everything was fresh and delicious! My husband had a Bloody Mary and an Old Salt, and I had a French Blonde. All of the drinks were fantastic and really well balanced. We started with the fritters (fresh, hot, and perfect texture), then split the she-crab soup and an oyster and shrimp po boy. Both were some of the best we have ever eaten - so flavorful and perfectly proportioned. Our server was so friendly and attentive, and the atmosphere was great. We will definitely be back and will recommend to our friends!

We made reservations for lunch. Thank goodness! Very busy! Our server was excellent and the soup and Helm salad was very tasty! Prices are reasonable for the portions. We would definitely return again.

This place is sooo good! First of all, it's beautiful on the inside. The food is the BEST you will eat anywhere in the area. The service was excellent. My husband and I shared the grouper sandwich and their She Crab soup. Both were delicious! Favorite find!

Great experience! Best Lobster roll I have had in the Tampa Bay Area ... by far! And my wife and daughter had the amazing salad with burrata and roasted vegetables. Cute decor with quaint little shop. The owner was super nice and friendly to my young son who was curious about the fish on the wall. Even the man shucking the oysters looked up, smiled and said hello as we walked in. Very friendly cute place in an area where good food is sparce. Highly recommend.

Food was awesome. Pricey, but delicious. Service was awful. They were rude and sarcastic as we walked in, it got worse, sat us by an open door after we requested NOT to be seated there. Refused to seat us in one of the 2 open booths we requested because they were "reserved" BUT both booths were EMPTY the entire time we were there. Food came in a hot minute, drinks (which we ordered first) came twenty minutes later. A really expensive Holiday lunch that we did not enjoy due to the sniggering nasty attitude of the staff. Worst service I've had in St Pete Beach. I won't be back.

I made a Saturday brunch reservation for 5 to celebrate my birthday and the food was delicious! The aesthetic of this place is the perfect coastal elegant style, with beautifully plated foods & a great overall vibe. Looking forward to coming back to try more menu items!

While it is expensive for a beach town, everything was delicious, the atmosphere is warm and beautiful and our service was impeccable. The dessert special for this week was a yummy “bar”. The only issue is it is served cold, but it was served frozen solid and I was unable to enjoy it with my coffee. I had a knife and fork and ended up losing the knife literally across the floor and dumping part of it in my lap as it “broke a bite off” If you order it. Ask them to sit it out. It is literally uneatable until it thaws. When thawed, it is amazing. Go and enjoy!

Awesome tasty restaurant not too far from the beach. Great service, inventive dishes, very friendly staff, incredible presentation. Loved enoki mushroom and potato and cheese appetizers, oyster shooter, crab sandwich, and flounder burger. The enoki fish looked like sculpture - will be trying to reproduce at home :) Great place for lunch. Please add a little something to the vegan menu - they don’t always eat only salad, however tasty :)

They know what they’re doing here! Start to finish, cocktail and brunch was superb. Super nice people, too. The seafood quality OMG is amazing. You must try the Lobster Roll. Fresh and perfectly cooked, it’s served with a subtle key lime butter aioli…and listen kids, it’s out-of-this-world deelicious! Also, the Oysters Rockefeller was a 10/10. The spinach & melted cheese combined with plump mollusks were simply the best we’ve tasted. This right here is a top-tier establishment!

Unexpected gem in St Pete Beach that we are happy to make the drive to experience. I’ve probably had half the items on the menu and everything is excellent with favorites being the beef carpaccio, lobster roll, and sour orange pie. The only thing that would make it better is if they opened a location further north in Indian Rocks Beach.

I'm always excited to try a new restaurant. I traveled an hour to the Helm that was supposed to have a coastal flare. Arriving at the Helm, the parking lot is not fully paved, so on the day I visited, there was a ginormous puddle the size of a car. I managed to steer around it and we entered the restaurant. Workout a crowd on a Saturday afternoon, it still took minutes to be greeted and sat. The atmosphere is light, but the general age of the crowd at this time was much older, think 40's and up. The bar is in the center of the restaurant, so if you just like to grab a drink, this is clearly a focus. The food, however, was unremarkable. No one in my party loved their dish, but they were prepared and presented nicely. Overall, I may visit again to try another dish I wanted to try, but there is no rush so I gave the Helm 3 stars. With more frequent service checks after delivery and faster food delivery, I would have given one more star for service.

I can’t say enough good things about the catering!! Mike is the sweetest, kindest man who brought us food for 20 people, helped us get set up and walked us through everything we had. He also helped us pick out what to get from the beginning and never steered us wrong. We got a ton of food with great variety - but the mac and cheese bar is a MUST. It was such a hit for everyone at the party and I’d absolutely do this again. Hope to check out the actual restaurant sometime when I’m back in the area!

The lobster rolls were so good with large chunks of lobster. We also tried the lobster and corn fritters and they tasted like a funnel cake batter, they were really good! The service was fast and friendly and the ambience of the restaurant was really cool.

Went here for brunch, great atmosphere, small restaurant. I would call ahead for reservations. The day we went the inside was booked. We had to eat outside or at the bar. The seafood quiche was outstanding. The Bloody Mary was very spicy. Restaurant worth checking out.

What a great place for lunch! Bryan is a fount of personality and I would return just to have him serve us again. The food was fantastic as well though, and that should be the focus of a restaurant. We started with Bryan's suggestion of the whipped feta which came with honey and balsamic strawberry. This is something you shouldn't miss! When we ran low on toast points he brought more, but I'm kinda glad I didn't know that was it forced me to pile more in each point than I would have otherwise. The fresh catch was mahi and was very fresh, as was the crab cake sandwich. I wish one of us had opted for the pineapple poblano slaw instead of fries, but there's always next time. Parking is tight. Minus 1/2 star for that which leaves them with only 7 stars, still above the Google max!

Beautiful indoor space. We dined outside under the newly installed sunshade. Great service and food that was pleasing to the eyes and palate.

We were driving from Miami to Tampa and really wanted a quality lobster roll. We drove an hour out of our way and we were not disappointed. The restaurant, staff and food was excellent. We ordered a French Rose wine, baked oysters and (2) lobster rolls. Everything was prepared with excellence. After 10+ years on the East Coast I was so happy to have found The Helm. We will be back soon!
