Phenomenal steaks, everything else was very good as well. We really enjoyed our meal.

The steak was stuff. This was worst steak house I have ever been too. You would think if pay a good price for a steak it would be tender and moist. This was the toughest steak I have ever had. I have been to some nice steak houses. Smith and Wollensky in NY and Ruth Criss and for what you pay you would thought you pay that much for a steak it would be comparable, but it was not . Don’t waste your money.

We had to wait about 30 minutes for a table, but they provided us a place to wait and offered us drinks. The service and food were great, and both women had enough of our pork chops and chicken breasts to make another meal for the next day. The staff was very helpful and friendly.

From the minute we arrived we were welcomed! Could go on and on about our experience! The owner, our server Angie and the teamwork from was was over the top❤️ definitely want to keep this place a secret it's a dining experience you don't want to share!!! Can't wait till next week to return and be part of the family 🥰 Bucket list cross off 2024👍✋

Nancy is fabulous and welcoming. Great down home restaurant with delicious food. Fried shrimp were perfect and the ribeye was delicious and cooked perfectly as requested.

Our family decided last minute to visit The Oaks for dinner. This place is always busy! Being right at dinner time, a weekend, and packed, we only had to wait 10 minutes or so to be seated. We had a 1 year old, a 12 year old and 4 adults. There was something for everyone! The salad bar is simple with a couple pastas added. Fresh as well. Even though this place was super busy we didn't have to wait too long for our food to come out. The employees were very nice and FAST! They even noticed when you needed a drink refill before you could ask. Everyone's food was delicious. If you're passing by I would definitely recommend The Oaks.

The wife and I went for dinner. Never been before so was a little skeptical. Everyone was so friendly and the food was amazing. I had the fish sandwich. Wife got seafood platter. Nice big portions. We left stuffed but took a slice of chocolate cake to go. So good. Can't wait to go back.

I'm so sad to say that we were completely disappointed in The Oaks. My husband had been here once prior and said the food was excellent. This was certainly not the case for us this time around. Our server was nice, but the food was not even remotely something we would return for or recommend to anyone. I really hope this was an extremely off day for them, but I really don't know. The server recommended the crab cakes and said that they were the best, there was no crabmeat in them. I saw a couple stray pieces of meat at best. I don't mind alot of filler, but these didn't even have a good flavorful filler. I've had many crab cakes in my years, but these were close to the worst. I've had better at local fairs and carnivals... Truthfully! And, they were 25.00! I rarely ever leave a review, but we really did not receive food close to worth what we spent. I don't mind paying for quality food, this was not quality food. My husband had the 20.00 fried fish special, it was mediocre at absolute best. Our son had the children's pasta that they were kind enough to put Alfredo/creamy sauce on at his request, but there was nearly no sauce and when the owner asked how it was, we told her that it was good, but didn't seem to have enough sauce and she responded that the noodles probably soaked it all up. They were dry.. She didn't bring any more sauce! We thought for sure she would be bringing a little extra sauce for it. Keep in mind, this was a child's pasta and in a tiny dish for $8.99! No drink included, just a side of apple sauce. The salad bar we thought would surely be good, it was a one trip so our waitress kindly loaded us up. Unfortunately, it left alot to be desired because it was on top of itself and everything tasted the same, because it was a teeny plate and we didn't get to serve ourselves like you would most places by putting on gloves (during covid), instead you walk to the bar with your server and she puts on the gloves and piles it on for you . I would have much rather had a larger plate with less on it, so we could actually taste what we were eating versus it piled on top of itself. It wasn't even very good regardless.. Sadly. I know they've been in business for many years, I'm not sure what's happened

This hole in the wall place was recommended by our AirBNB host, and it did not disappoint. We started with the pig wing special.. they were good - not smoked like we are used to but still good. My partner got the liver and onions which was dry and overcooked. The flavor was decent but not cooked right. I had the ribeye which wad fantastic. The cut was thick and was cooked perfectly. The staff was friendly and extremely attentive. We had a lovely time and will stop back if ever in the area again.

Great place! Friendly staff and great home cooking. They offer a salad bar that the owner embellishes with fresh fruits and vegetables from her own garden. Daily specials bring an interesting variety and portions are always good.

We stopped by this family restaurant for a late night dinner after traveling to the area for a wedding. I'm so happy we did! Everything was delicious! The cheeseburger was hand pressed and perfectly medium well. The fried grouper was lightly floured and seasoned just right. The homemade Cajun dipping sauce was so good, I would have purchased a bottle if I could. The owners and waitresses were so kind. This establishment truly cares about the experience of its customers. I doubt we'll be in Lancaster, VA again, but if so my husband and I know the first place we'll go.

The Oaks is a friendly place, very welcoming. In fact, you might call it lively, as the town name implies..locals gather and chat..I felt I walked into a get together at a friend's place. If you need decor or trendy, this won't be for you. However, if you want decent ample tasty food, it might be just what you need. The salad bar was small,but fresh. The main course flavorful. Yes, the bar was lively! The staff very friendly n attentive. Give it a try! UPDATE The other day my once a year craving for a good steak lead me back to The Oaks..locals told me this was the place to go!. Well they were correct.. the first good steak I had since I moved from NYC..done just the way I liked it, and with true flavor. I'd love a switch up offering to steak au poivre, my personal favorite you just don't find in this area . Seems they can do it justice! Love that on the menu for my 2nd steak meal! Michelle, our waitress was very friendly and attentive, food arriving as we needed it, no lags in time. Some food improvements to enhance the experience (in my view)..fresh green beans, maybe almondine? and more tomato based Lasagna sauce to that dish..bring grated cheese with it. Offer garlic bread?? If you're hunting for a good steak dinner this just might be the place!

The Garlic Peppered broiled shrimp is one of my favorite dishes, with the red skinned mashed potatoes, green beans and fresh rolls.....so good!! Plus Mary the bartender is always fun and friendly! She always remembers her patrons! Cozy & enjoyable dining experience! Highly recommend!

Love this tiny restaurant and bar, however it can get loud on the weekends and especially during the summer. I, personally would not recommend taking young children there. The food is to die for and that's why my husband and I go. Super friendly staff! You have to try it!

We love this place and make a point to come here whenever we are in the area. The food is delicious and homemade and the service is fast and friendly, even on super busy weekend nights. We always feel welcome here and always really enjoy our meal.

Just plain good. Even the salad was good. The homemade croutons are the best and I don't even like croutons. They are unlike anything you've ever had. Soft shell crabs were great. I need to go there more often.

Great food and generous proportions. Speedy service. Fabulous energy in this restaurant. Packed with locals. Not "fancy" , more a feel at home restaurant. Worth the trip if you are staying in Irvington area - only about 20 minute drive. If you have a chance, sit at the bar for dinner... the bartender is entertaining. Very well run restaurant. Kudos to management.

My grandparents have brought me here ever since I was little kid and I miss it so much but it’s the first place I ever had fried catfish. This place holds a ton of memories for me and I’m halfway tempted to drive down there this weekend.

Doesn't matter what you get, it's all amazing. My favorite is the ribeye, you won't find another like it locally. Great service happy and cordial owners like to check on you while you wait or dine.

Love this place! It's a local hangout but all are welcome. Family/kid friendly, reasonably priced and great food! They offer home style dishes and run daily specials. The desserts are homemade, the portions are generous, and you won't leave hungry! Go for the best ribeye around.

We want more folks to discover our favorite "rivah" restaurant! The food is delicious, the service is outstanding, and the prices are reasonable. Quality food and a family-friendly atmosphere also make this place exceptional! It's worth the trip if you're hanging out in the Northern Neck.
