15/06/2023: Don’t let the outside fool you. It looks run down due to the awning’s condition and I heard that they are moving soon to a bigger location. Inside is clean and well done with a lively atmosphere. The restaurant as some notable accolades and the owner will surely point it out. Food: Our table tried two of the soup dishes: one with Udon noodles and the second with Ramen noodles. The broth, seasoning and texture was done really well! Both were enjoyable. Our appetizers consisted of 2 plates of Yellowfin Tuna and Seaweed Salad. The tuna was prepared nicely, and the bit of crab salad was a nice touch (artificial crabmeat). However, the gem IMO was that they used pickled radish in the salad which was a great surprise. The final dish was short ribs served with rice, side of miso soup and house salad. The soup is a hearty miso with good flavor and ginger dressing on the salad commonplace. The short ribs were nice with Asian flavors and meat that came of the bone easily. The rice as different; as an Asian American who grew up eating rice daily I think I have enough authority to make a judgment. It wasn’t really Japanese; it was more like Thai Jasmine rice and a bit over cooked comparatively to typical Japanese or Taiwanese/Chinese rice. The female owner was lovely and a character! She checks on tables, makes suggestions and even treated the whole restaurant with dessert! I believe the overall food has more of a Hawaiian base with influences of Japanese Fusion and other Asian influences to help them standout in the crowded Asian food market. 19/05/2023: I had an amazing time at BBJ!!! It was my 1st time, but definitely NOT my last. The atmosphere was everything. The lighting was chill, seating was comfy, and it really was a vibe. The staff from the moment we walked in were friendly and inviting. Our waitress CoCo was OUTSTANDING. She was friendly, accommodating, and had a beautiful warm smile. Prices of food and drink are fair. The food was pretty good. I had spinach dip and lemon pepper wings (the wings were a good size, not tiny nor gargantuan), they were well seasoned and fried almost to perfection. My food and drinks came out quickly, and the presentation was cute. I enjoyed my "Black Panther" twice😉. I love the variety of music that played before and after the saxophonist. The SAXOPHONIST, Mr. Steven Galloway is an AMAZING talent. His musicianship and the way he kept the audience (even those watching from outside) engaged and entertained was magnificent. He played real soul music from the 70s, 80s, 90s, and today. It was SO smooth from beginning to end. During one song, our WONDERFUL server Coco got on stage and sang with Mr. Galloway, and later on, he invited another young talent on stage to play bass. Again, the entire show was PHENOMENAL. 20/05/2023: Our family recently visited Sassafras and had a wonderful time. Our server was friendly and especially friendly and attentive to our suddenly squirrelly kids. 21/05/2023: This is a lovely cafe just a block or so from where we were staying at the beach. The staff are friendly and smiling! My husband ordered the Island Stylin’ Wrap and I ordered the Goddess Veggie Wrap. First of all, let me say everything was very fresh and delicious. And wonderfully healthy! The wraps were stuffed full of crisp fresh veggies with the dressing on the side. The plates came to us pretty quickly and the weather was beautiful so we ate on the outside deck. Great experience with complimentary cucumber water! We really enjoyed ourselves and we’ll be back!

11/06/2023: We happened upon this restaurant by happenstance and it ended up being the best meal we have had in years. The filet was on par with renowned steakhouses. The service was top notch and the custom wine blends by Robert Mondavi were the icing on the cake. If you want a fancy meal without the fuss of dressing fancy then this is the perfect night out!!

24/05/2023: Was pleasantly surprised by this place. Flavorful, quick, and great service. They have this amazing hot sauce that packs a punch and adds flavor to my gyro. Would highly recommend. Come to this place the workers here are also so so friendly and made the experience so enjoyable.

12/05/2023: We love bringing guests here. There are lots of choices from chicken, burgers, pizza, or hot dogs. You can sit outside on the boardwalk (5 stars), and people watch and see the ocean or sit inside (4 stars - clean but noisy because of arcade). We come for the gyros, but everything our friends have ordered, they have enjoyed. The owner treats everyone like a friend. The whole staff is made up of wonderful people.
