The sea bass was awesome and the service was excellent. All in our party of 8 were very pleased.

Excellent atmosphere and the food was the best we’ve had. Between the salmon, steak, and lobster tail, they were all the best of those items we’ve had at a restaurant.

The food for the most part was delicious. Our seats were not the best, I kept on getting bumped into ( with no apologies) . We ordered an appetizer and then never returned until he brought it....we actually wanted 2 and drinks ... So then after the first was brought out we got the opportunity to order the other and drinks. After getting bumped into about 3 dozen times and getting our main courses done, we paid and discussed what each of us thought about it. We all had the same thoughts about it.... Was nice to try once....

This place has amazing food, atmosphere and service!

I made a reservation for what I was told would be a "high top table that's really nice" by the gentleman I spoke with on the phone. I realize that it was a reservation made only 3 days prior. The table we would've been sat at was not a high top and underneath a TV with people standing about a foot away from the table. High traffic going past the table as well with the servers. I would've made plans at another restaurant if I had known this was the case.

Went for Valentine's Day !! Small intimate setting where locals come to enjoy a drink and relax. The food (steak) is amazing with the Mushrooms !!! I have had just about everything on the menu and was never disappointed. I ALWAYS ask for the waiter Casey HE IS AMAZING! He knows the menu, knows the specials. Always pleasant !!! I would recommend this place, just inside the building is a GREAT place to take pictures, very vintage.

We ate ate THE FREDERICK following my sons White Coat Ceremony that was held across the street. We had a party of 10. The server was amazing! Accommodating, funny and met our every request! I ordered champagne for a toast prior to arrival and THE FREDERICK did not disappoint. Everything was perfect! And I almost forgot to mention the food! Not sure where to begin or end. Amazing !!! Thank you The Frederick for such a memorable experience

Four of us made a visit here last night and we were all very satisfied with the entire experience. Each of us had different entre's and all were pleased. The service provided by Jeff was exceptional as well. The entre's varied from salmon to ratatouille and some in between. The risotto as a side was the best I've ever had. If you're visiting our city or if you live here, you should give this restaurant for a special evening out.

This beautiful restaurant was what we were looking for. A nice cocktail, great food, and Mike playing on the piano on a Friday night. We didn't miss the City of Chicago at all!

The atmosphere is cool. It’s a real mish mash of styles and definitely over the top but cool nonetheless. The service was a bit slow but super pleasant. The steak was good. The sides were not. The sautéed spinach tasted of nothing but lemon juice. The risotto tasted of nothing. There was no bread service. I’d go back but order something different.

Amazing dinner in the Greenbrier Room at The Frederick. My family rented the room to celebrate our niece’s med school graduation. The entire meal was splendid, from pre dinner wines, appetizers, main courses, and sides. Service was impeccable. The ambience was unparalleled. It was the perfect place to gather after the graduation held at the Albee Theater across the street.

Always enjoy coming here. Best food in the area.

Try the Filet! Great risotto and brussel sprouts as well...

I’m basing my review almost exclusively on the flavor of the aged strip steak I had there. It was truly wonderful. My friends also enjoyed their meals, which came in large servings. Service had a nice small town feel, and the ambiance was cute (though a bit confusing). This was an expensive meal, but again, my steak made the experience.

This place never disappoints. If you're looking for a great relaxed atmosphere, great food and drinks....this is your place. The "piano man" is phenomenal as well. Never had a bad meal here. If you're looking for a Texas Roadhouse then this isn't your place. If you're looking for an upscale meal and atmosphere then you can't go wrong!! As in everything, you get what you pay for. This place is higher priced than most anything else. The seared tuna is amazing, wilted spinach salad is just like grandma made it, the filet and ribeyes are superb. They used to do bacon wrapped brussel sprouts and they were out of this world. If Thomas is behind the bar, don't bother testing him bc he can make whatever you desire. One of the best bartenders I've ran across.

I was so disappointed in our meal's this evening! They must have lost their chef. Bearnaise sauce is not supposed to taste like vinegar, the creamed spinach was milky/watery, and tasteless. The lobster was served upside down!!! Over cooked and rubbery, had risotto that was mush and tasteless. What a waste of money and time!! They were the best Huntington had a few year's ago, it's sad how bad the food taste, plated, e.t.c. Entrees have all increased in prices by 10 to 15 dollars and the food decreased by 50%.

Booked reservation online through Google and table was waiting for us when we arrived. It is a small restaurant, so seating is close. The back of my chair was against the person's behind me for much of the visit even though we scooted are table forward just a bit. Wine and drink list was very nice. They did not have the bottle that we ordered, but did recommend a similar one that was not on their list. It was pleasant. Bread and butter were brought to the table. It was very good, having a crisp, garlic outer crust and a soft core that paired well with the butter. We ordered the crab cake for an appetizer. This is one large crab cake that is easily shared, though I wish it would have been two smaller ones for ease of sharing. This was very good and I would recommend it to anyone who enjoys crab. My wife and I split the 8 oz filet mignon. There is an upcharge for sharing a meal, but they do plate it split and full size sides. No complaints about the small upcharge. The steak was very tender and very good. We skipped dessert on this trip as we had other plans for sweets that evening. Overall dining experience was less than an hour. The waiter was good. We will return.

The food was delicious! I have to say I've eaten at many " nice" restaurants including all the restaurants at the Greenbrier and the filet here was the absolute best! Cooked to perfection with amazing flavor. Their spring zucchini salad was to die for as well.

First I would recommend coming here once if only to stroll inside the lobby of what was once a grand hotel and checkout all the architecture and design of the interior of this place. It's a walk back in time to another era and Huntington should be proud to have been able to sustain such a piece of its history. Now onto the food. The food is very good. A little pricey but nothing outside of expectations. Just know before you go. To start off the salads are basically nothing fancy. Just generic salads and I don't know if I would get again because of the price and what you get for it. However, their balsamic dressing is some of the best I've ever tasted. The fried oyster appetizer really good. For the main courses both the Ancho steak and the filet are delicious. They are $70 and $50 steaks and are like steaks of similar prices that I have eaten and many other places. The salmon is ok but nothing to write home about and probably would not get again because the taste and portion does not justify the price. The chicken marsala was some of the best I've ever tasted. The eggplant parmesan was unique. The pieces were thick but juicy and tender. The ricotta mixture was excellent. The sauce was also very good as well. Maybe the best I've had anywhere. As for the sides the risotto is some of the best I've ever eaten anywhere as well. Generous portion on that. And the bourbon carrots I would highly recommend as well. Another generous portion and the sauce was really great. Plus that sauce mixed incredibly well with both the risotto and the salmon. Afterwards we tried the cheesecake and it was superb. Better than anything from the Cheesecake factory and a large sized piece. The creme broulee was delicious as well but very small. The chocolate mousse was excellent. 3 small scoops with some creme and blueberries. The combo of creme, blueberry and mousse was one of the best things I've tasted in quite some while. Overall this place is a treat to come to. It is expensive so definitely a special occasion type of place for me. Service is adequate enough but nothing that blows you away and probably a little below the level of similar places to this that I've been to but not bad either so I want to make that clear as well. It was just adequate and nothing more nor less. If you want a rather unique dining experience in an incredible setting with really good food then this is the place around here. I would compare it to the Chop House in Charleston with much better ambience and surroundings but with food and service just a slightly little but below that level

I have taken my family here on two occasions. Both were great experiences. The ambiance is handsome and the steaks amazing.

I’ve lived in Huntington for almost 20 years and had never been here before, due to a pre-conceived notion of it being out of my price range… and I was right. However, it is well worth EVERY SINGLE PENNY spent on this meal. This is definitely a special occasion place and not a every weekend eatery. The lamb had a crust on it that was absolutely perfect, though I would’ve like a tad more salt for flavoring; perhaps a flaky sea salt, just before serving? In any event, paired with the perfect risotto and the vegetable medley, it was a wonderful meal! My girlfriend had the scallops and they too were cooked to perfection; the chef knows their protein execution to a science. The asparagus was tasty, not woody at all, and even had a little snap to it, with none of the tell-take signs of being over cooked. However, the potatoes… let’s mention these holy gifts from the divine and truly give them the recognition they deserve! I’ve eaten from Italy to California, Maine to Miami, and Seattle to New York City, and these potatoes put everywhere to shame. I feel like mere words wouldn’t do them justice. There’s a sour cream or yogurt sauce, on a cheese sauce bed, with so much going though nothing was overwhelming, yet everything was perfectly balanced. This is not to mention the fabulous cocktails, the throwback architecture and decor, and the piano player keeping you entertained the entire time. I wasn’t rushed, I was made to feel welcome (host sat us even though we didn’t have a reservation), and I felt quite fancy, but not in an annoying way! I HIGHLY recommend them for your next dinner outing!

I've eaten at a lot of places with higher-end prices that weren't really worth the money; 21 is absolutely worth every penny. From the parmesan-encrusted bread to the interesting combination of seasonings on their signature items to the perfect cook of each dish, this is a true gem in Huntington.

It was good but not amazing as some of the comments have stated. Doesn't live up to the hype or price tag. Prices have jumped from the listed menu shown in pictures here. While portion sizes are generous, attention to quality and flavor is just adequate. I had lamb chops with asparagus and risotto. My husband had scallops with broccoli and mashed potatoes. Fried oysters for appetizer. The highlight was the live pianist, however he was tucked away in a corner. Service was good but not memorable. The chairs sat low and were uncomfortable for table height eating. Atmosphere has a moody vibe. Very loud when it's a full house but awkwardly quiet with less people and no piano playing. Glad we tried, as I was always curious about this place.

What a horrible meal. Started with waiter telling us how hungover he was. Steaks come out warm at best. Sent back and 2nd time, came out hotter but unseasoned and bland. I'll save money and go to Longhorn for a better meal...

Everything was excellent. Even meet the owners and Marshalls basketball coach there. It is worth the money spent. Food was the best I have had in a long time.

My wife and I ate here on a whim, drove by, looked nice, so we called and made a reservation. After we parked finding the restaurant was a bit of a challenge due to it being off to the left of the main entrance. The restrooms were nice and extremely clean. Now for the part you've all been waiting for... the food was EXCELLENT! The crab cake was made from real crab and was the best crab cake I have ever eaten. My wife had the halibut special which was superb, my filet was hands down the best steak I have ever had the pleasure of eating. I was not the least bit displeased. Service was as good as the food and cleanliness was top notch.

If you're in the area and looking for a great steak house look no further. This is your spot. Hands down the best restaurant in the Huntington, Charleston, Ashland area.

One of the best restaurants in Huntington! The entire place is beautiful. An extensive wine list and menu, I had the bone in pork chop which melted in my mouth!

Long wait, even with reservation and they were out of a lot of specials/menu items. Service was good and what we did have was yummy. Good ambiance, more upscale than most other restaurants in Huntington.

Amazing food & service!! I spend 17 nights a month in hotels for work and eating all over the country but I look forward to coming home to Huntington and going to 21 @ The Frederick. The owner & his entire staff take pride in their food and providing an awesome dining experience. The filet is ranked in my top three in the US!

Everything about our visit to 21 Was outstanding! Our server, Brian, was knowledgeable and very personable, along with keeping all of our needs met throughout the entire meal. The food is unmatched as is the atmosphere. I would recommend 21 to everyone!

We were asked to sit at the bar since they were busy and didn’t have a table available except for in the ballroom. If you can imagine 6-10 tables in a ballroom, just not good at all. The bar was very cozy. The piano player was dining at the bar before his gig there and was very nice and conversive. Our server, I.e. the bartender, not so much. Thomas was not welcoming or helpful at all. He did the bare minimum to accommodate us. We didn’t feel welcome. Our food was fantastic. We both got the filet. I got baked potato as did my husband. I also got sautéed mushrooms which were fabulous. My husband got the carrots and they were excellent as well. No bread was offered. Thomas works at his own pace, you are secondary or maybe even tertiary , depending. Not exactly sure what he was doing as he wasn’t in site most of the time. It was 5:30 pm and very slow. I can recommend the food but not the service.

Awesome atmosphere to include piano player. Filet grilled to perfection. Waiter very responsive and wonderful. Definitely should be on your to go to or at minimum try it list!!!!

If you're looking for fine dining, a romantic evening, or just a nice meal. This is the place. Fair warning it's not budget friendly, but if you're looking to splurge this is the place to do it.

I went to my 50th CLASS REUNION from CEREDO~KENOVA HIGH SCHOOL❤Our dining room was lovely & the food was buffet style with a Chef to slice the Prime Rib. But there were plenty of options for meat, salad, veggies & drinks. If you wanted alcohol, it was pay as you go & was well staffed. We others had our ice tea, hot tea, ice water or coffee available the whole time. We had a wonderful turnout & plenty of dance floor & just so well organized for our group. The service was wonderful & brot dessert to our tables. The food was ALL DELICIOUS & we had a great time. I would definitely recommend you plan your event here❤❤❤❤❤.

Excellent filet, potatoes were recommended but left something to be desired. Drinks were NOT watered down. Crabcakes are worth getting. Earlybird specials are worth checking (country fried steak when we went). Good salads. Atmosphere in restaurant and building lobby are worth a visit.

The food was excellent. The decor is extremely 70s and dimly lit. Very expensive as well- my steak was $45. The kind of place you take your rich grandma.

Always a great experience dining here. The atmosphere is unbelievable; everyone that works there is inviting and knowledgeable about the food and wine; and the food is always top notch. I have eaten steaks from many places in many cities, yet my favorite steak is at 21. That is the Ancho Strip, if you have not tried it yet. The steaks are always prepared to my request (Blue), and that consistency is hard to achieve. Make sure to give his place a try and you will likely become a regular.

There aren't a lot of restaurants like this in the Huntington area and I'm glad it's hanging in there. I'd wanted to eat here for years (and never actually made it in for the few years I lived in Huntington). It delivered, even though I feared my expectations would be too high, given the years of anticipation. The ambiance is wonderful, it has a very classic feeling to it. You can tell the restaurant has been here for a long time and that by dining here, you're now part of the tradition. I ordered a steak while my husband ordered lamb and both were prepared wonderfully. I think this might be the best steak money can buy in Huntington. For a special event or if you want a very unique experience, 21 is a good choice.

Great roast beef. Place has an old world feeling and classic class.

Stopped by for a quick bite at the bar. There were three other people at the bar but no bartender. I sat there for several minutes. There were other employees milling about. No one bothered to say anything about whether the bar was closed or if someone would be back soon. So I have up and left.

The food and service were outstanding. Music good. Enjoyable place for dinner and a drink.

We had been on road for six hours (started out from Oly, WA) and wanted a nice restaurant that would take care of us. When I called, Brian was very gracious even though we weren’t quite business attired. I would have preferred my food hot, but it was delicious. I had halibut, potatoes and broccoli. Husband who rarely eats meat had NY and ate every last bite. Kyle was an attentive waiter. We would return.

We visit relatives in town once or twice a year and have wanted to eat here for the past couple of years. Finally made it this trip and liked it so much, we visited twice in one week! Lovely old-school ambiance, great cocktails from the (lively) bar, good wine list, awesome food. Prices definitely reasonable. Best restaurant in Huntington for upscale dining, as far as we're concerned.

One of the nicer restaurants in town and the price reflects that. Staff was very nice and knowledgeable. Ambiance is cozy. I had the ribeye and it was cooked perfectly. Serving size of garlic mashed potatoes side was very generous.

My favorite part of this restaurant is the atmosphere. It's on the ground floor of a really beautiful old, preserved building that was once The Frederick Hotel. The restaurant space has no windows is has an amazing old-style club atmosphere to it, with a lot of dark wood accented by plenty to look at on the walls and red banquettes. A piano player only adds to the old school ambiance. The menu and wine list are both sizable. They get props for a diverse, interesting and fairly priced wine list, both by the glass and by the bottle, though they'll have to take a penalty strike for our first choice in bottles not being available. The food is quite decent. Wild mushroom bisque was a good way to start and a special of see bass was quite good. Given that entrees include a choice of two sides, the value is quite high, though I wish that all three weren't crammed onto a modest-size plate. The accompanying risotto and sauteed mushrooms were on point. The only negative part of the experience was the service. The young man who was our server was plenty nice and polite, and happily obliged with separate checks, but there were some very long waits toward the beginning. It took him a long time to come back and tell us that they were out of the wine we chose, and then it must have taken at least 15 minutes for our second choice to arrive. While I don't expect every server to have a vast knowledge of wine, if they offer to answer any questions on the wine list (as our did), when I ask about a particular wine ,I expect to hear something other than a report of how well it sells.

We have eaten at 21 before; have sat at the bar, and enjoyed a few evenings with friends and colleagues there. Our most recent visit was not what we had remembered. The bar was pretty busy and there were a few people who had plainly had a few too many and were very loud and just a bit obnoxious. They filtered out later, but the mood was weird and the place seemed a bit out of sorts. We wanted to eat at the bar, but had moved to an adjoining table because of the bar scene. Few people were at tables in the dining room, although it was prime time on a Friday night. We were constantly being jostled by people around the bar, so we opted to get a quick bite and leave. I'd love to see this place do well, but it needs a serious face lift (it is just looking tired, old and dead - lighting is not good, the tables are oddly placed, and the decor is not grand and glorious from it's era, but instead dreary) and attitude readjustment. We will return, hopefully to find it reinvigorated.

Dependable as always. Love the mussels and I can always find a n8ce glass of wine there.

As far as finer dining in Huntington goes, 21 is my favorite. The ambiance is unlike anywhere else in the state. Their signature dishes are consistently done perfectly and prices are very reasonable for them. My favorite is the ribeye (ask for the ancho rub) and the 21 roasted potatoes are amazing.

There aren't enough great things to say about the "21 Club." The service is outstanding, and the food is simply phenomenal. To me, the decor makes makes the entire experience. The vintage theme along with the piano music is simply spectacular. As for the food,...

We are from North Carolina and this place was recommended to us to try. The food was delicious. I ordered the Seared Scallops and they were perfect. I have had Scallops elsewhere but nothing like these. I would highly recommend them. So flavorful. Our waiter Kyle was friendly, knowledgeable and served us with a smile. If ever in Huntington, WV and you are looking for a classy restaurant this is the place. We will be back for more.

Casey and the whole staff made you feel at home. Blue Cheese was awesome trust anything you pick. You cant go wrong .
