The food was disgusting. The service was horrible. The menu is over priced for the lack of flavor and unappealing food that is served. We are locals and will Not be back.

Service was excellent. The atmosphere was much noisier than expected simply due to acoustics and set-up. It felt pretty cramped. I like the idea of the place and the dishes are creative but I find they're pretty hit or miss, and overpriced. I appreciate high quality food and don't mind paying for it but both my husband and I found that some of their flavour profiles were excellent and some were miscalculated. The cocktails are tasty. Their cheese board was one of the best I've ever had. And the cheeses and accompanying sauces were perfectly paired.

50 Local is a lovely restaurant in downtown Kennebunk, Maine. I enjoyed a glass of 🍷 and french fries 🍟while waiting for my takeout of crispy farm egg 🥚 salad 🥗and the pappardelle. 😋 The hostess and bartender were very nice and keen on ensuring my needs were met. It seemed to be a hot spot for dinner!

Belle ambiance décontracté, petites lumières pour tamiser la place, music en tout genre, service très cool et attentionné. Côté nourriture on a pas été déçus, gros coup de coeur pour le toast à la ricotta, les gnocchis au homard tout simplement fantastique. Seul minuscule bémol... ils ont pas de café avec le dessert...juste du decaf... encore une surprise du Maine.

We went here again, a few weeks back on a Monday. We requested to the waitress that we wanted to pace our dinner and not have the food rushed well, it was rushed. the waitress claimed that she could not paste dinner and that the chef demanded that all food to be inputted at the same time. There were certainly plenty of tables and no need to move people out the door fast with this led to us naturally us not getting a dessert which we would have normally done so for a rare night away. The message to the owner being when you rush dinner there is less spending - retrain your staff to understand this.

50 Local is somehow better than ever this year! Food is delicious, wine selection is great, service is lovely. A great place to get together with friends 💕

The menu is tiny and lacks imagination. Using pecorino Romano cheese instead of Parmigiano-Reggiano on a Caesar salad isn't just wrong, bit you're trying too hard to appear like you're food is new and interesting. The staff was fake-friendly. We ordered drinks and planned on eating there but never felt comfortable in this small restaurant. So we paid our tab and went elsewhere. So I can't rate the food. The menu is literally one side of a piece of paper. You can read it in seconds and when I got to the end I thought "is that it".

The food was excellent and the service was as well. Highly recommend the lemon basil sorbet for dessert!

After covid I don't like dining out much. But we had a wonderful experience at 50 local. Service was top notch, pleasant experience as soon as we entered. We weren't rushed through our dinner. Arrived at 5:30 and left at 8:30. Now we are still not in peak season so not sure if that will change during the summer. Our dinners all came at the same time! And all were hot! Not warm, not cold all hot! The background music was classic rock, which us 60+ like! This is the type of dining I missed and I'm so happy I decided to leave my stomping grounds and venture over to the next town to dine! I'll be back! Keep up the great work!!!

My good friend Jamie loves this place and is always talking about it, and the chef there. I had never been but decided to stop in last week for dinner. He is admittedly wrong about a lot of things but his praise of this place is spot on. I have eaten at almost every decent restaurant between Boston and Portland at some point in my life. This is definitely one of my favorites. It's a nice setting, with friendly people, and the menu offers some unique choices you won't find anywhere else. I would highly recommend it.

$4.00 extra for butter. $4.00 extra for anchovies on the egg salad that consisted of egg and lettuce. That certainly turned us off. If they were smart, they’d hide the costs elsewhere.

Second visit. Wanted to come back and was not disappointed. Casual atmosphere, great staff, fantastic food. Hubby on low carb had house salad-excellent and burger without roll-cooked perfectly and fixings added to his enjoyment. I had a new dish on their menu gnocchetti with chicken Marsala sauce-outrageously rich and delicious. Our server was an energizer bunny working the room. He made us feel well taken care of. Thank you!

Service much better than food and value. Let's start with the crab cake - tasty - the size of a meatball for $14. The crispy egg salad - a crusted poached egg on a bed of plain lettuce $16. No tomatoes, olives, cucumbers which would have made this appetizer much more impressive. Anchovies - $4 additional. Bread with olive oil - no butter - also $4 additional! The rest of the meal was not memorable. We are from NY and have eaten in the finest restaurants and have never been charged for butter. Very insulting. Unfortunately, we will not return.

loved dining with you on our Anniversary. What a chef!!!! Sublime, favorite dish of ALL-TIME!!! Gnocchi/Lobster, celeriac with carrot chips. The lemon mousse was perfection, after a very substantial meal. My husband loved his dinner as well. Bread, A+……. olive oil so yummy and grassy. Great drinks and waitress. An all around special experienceL

First time the 50 Local. Good vibe, smaller bar Service was excellent, Jet was our bartender. He made some excellent recommendations on the menu. Drinks were excellent. Food was also excellent. My husband got the Halibut and I got the short rib flatbread. We will definitely be back

This restaurant was suggested to me via my hotel lobby clerk as I understand that it is a favorite of the locals. I sat at the bar as they were very busy and had good conversation with the friendly bar tender even though he was swamped he made sure to interact with me. Started with the crab cake and initially was disappointed at the size of it, but after the 1st bite changed my mind as it was almost all crab maybe a small amount of breading to hold the shape. So a pleasant surprise I had their fish and chips (pictured) but doesn't do it justice. The fillet was very sizable flaky tender and cooked perfectly. The breading was just enough and great. The only real negative is that they are obviously well liked by the locals and very busy which due to the size of their place made it quite loud. Otherwise a great meal in a wonderful local atmosphere with great food

Every single bite was wonderful. All locally sourced ingredients. The salad was SO fresh and interesting. Lovely bread. Creative, interesting dishes that just nailed it. I wish we lived in Kennebunkport. I'd patronize this place regularly! Noisy and crowded but no wonder...

Ash, who does most of the cooking in this kitchen, is the most talented and passionate chef in the area. Everything she makes is perfectly done. There’s never too little of something, or too much of it. Every ingredient is utilized and incorporated in her dishes exactly the way it should be. Every time I dine here and eat her cooking I leave in a great mood, even if my entire day was a disaster before that. The combination of appearance, smell, taste, and texture, is a thing of beauty.

One of the owners was there and extremely attentive to us. Amazing place, even better food. Feels upscale but has a local, loving feel to it.

Excellent starters and service. Unfortunately, home made pasta are beyond disgusting. They are hard and make your mouth mushy. The noodle soup broth is too simple for the price. We left 90% of the food in our plates.

Nice restaurant in downtown Kennebunk, Maine. I had the mussel appetizer and Udon noodle dish. My wife had the buccatini, the rest of the diners had arancini appetizer the ribeye steak. The mussels were well prepared, flavorful and plentiful. It could have been a full dinner as served, but, I was sharing. the arancini came with 5 large balls. We took 2 home. The udon noodle dish was a good size with chicken. I thought it was a little salty and I think would have been better with pork. If they gave a choice of pork or chicken, that would be a smarter dish. My wife loved the buccatini. The steak lovers were happy and each took some home. The restaurant was a bit on the noisy side, but, we were able to have a conversation. It was very dark, so much so that I was unable to read the check when it came. They have candles on the table, but, it is not enough light. Our server was excellant. Would definitely go back if I was in the area.

Nice but loud and the tables guarantee you will be knocked a time or two. Service is kind but distracted. Never got a 2nd iced tea but they still added 4 dollar butter charge lol 😂 details!! Hard coming off exquisite food but well done and tasty. I prefer stronger flavors but it was good for the price point. Shrimp excellent…..pasta well made. Bread 🍞 yum

Their menu is predominantly seafood I wish they had more variety with their appetizers I ended up getting the charcuterie board which was $30 and there is only like five pieces of cheese on there 🤷🏾‍♀️

This is an amazing restaurant. Every bite was delicious. Cozy outdoor seating, dim warm lighting. Great staff that was friendly and attentive while also giving us space to enjoy the evening. We will definitely be going back. I am excited to try other dishes!

My wife and I came to this restaurant to celebrate my birthday. We ordered homemade pappardelle with broccoli and sausage, arugula salad, and shrimp ceviche. Everything was excellent and you could definitely tell it was made by a really good chef. Restaurant was classy in a comfortable setting. Service was attentive and efficient.

First time diner. Had a great family dinner. We all had 5 different dishes of pasta. They were perfect. Pregamed at bar before our table was ready-nice. They were able to seat us early-great. Read some of the reviews prior and was apprehensive. Disregard, great place.

Very good meals, particularly the pasta dishes. The service was very friendly and helpful when choosing a meal. It felt like they were down one server, as the staff was moving quickly to take care of guests. The kitchen was very quick.

My husband and I booked a reservation online for 50 Local and were very excited to try the food here during our vacation. The ambiance was spot on and the menu looked creative and full of variety. Unfortunately, the food did not hit the spot. Our appetizers were both decent, but our entrees were not good. No flavor. My husband's fish and chips were extremely greasy and the fries were undercooked and under seasoned. Our waitress was pleasant, however we will not be back. The prices are too high for pretty average, or maybe slightly less than average food.

Great atmosphere and amazing food. A nice way to get away from the craziness of Kennebunkport and try some other local flavors. All noodles and pasta are handmade and give the dishes so much extra flavor. Portions are huge, so be prepared to take extras home.

What a wonderful place to have as a local hideaway. Very welcoming, beautifully prepared meals. Delicious in house made pasta. This is one of those neat, simple looking foody bars that is more expensive than it looks but where you actually get more for your dollar. First time eating in after covid years of takeout.

I went here for a group meeting. The bartender was sociable and made a good drink. Dinner started off with a Caesar salad with a breaded poached egg (did not know breaded eggs were a thing, SO GOOD) The entree selection was small, we had the choice of chicken or vegetarian risotto. I'm not a big chicken fan. But even so, it was so flavorful and delicious. The dessert was top notch, made by their pastry chef. She was also very sociable. Overall, loved it and would love to go back.

From start to finish, outstanding. As a local, I appreciate what this establishment does. Try the poached egg salad and the KM Sunshine. We had steak and a noodle bowl tonight and it was amazing.

Girls night out was perfect! Great food and great atmosphere. Always something new, fresh and delicious on the menu.

Thai pork was extremely salty. Border line send it back salty. Lights were too dim. People were reading menus with phone flashlights. Waiter was trying way to hard. Maybe it was just a bad night.

I don’t even know how to begin this review. First off - our appetizer was overpriced. 20$ for two pork buns. I was disappointed. Secondly - the udon noodles are not udon noodles. Udon noodles are typically thick and round or square. What I was served was basically fettuccine noodles. Even the flat udon noodles will have a ribbon consistency. These weren’t that. I was also not impressed with being given cheap Chinese take out chop sticks to use in my 25$ entree. There are reusable chop sticks Local could give patrons that are way more appealing than that. I encourage them to look into that. What really upset me was that I was charged $10.00 for two glasses of fountain soda water with a splash of cranberry. $5.00 a glass. That is an insane money grab. I was honestly shocked. As a local - I’m really disappointed.

Excellent food and service. We did have to wait for a table even with a reservation, and the food/drinks were delayed because they were so busy. It's a very small place with high demand - but the wait was totally worth it, and our server was very communicative (the complimentary fresh bread to thank us for our patience didn't hurt either). They have a daily menu and delicious craft cocktails. I had the braised short rib over homemade pasta - a spiritual experience. Highly recommend saving room for dessert. Will definitely be back!

We had a wonderful dining experience for two. Promptly seated with our reservation for dinner. It was a Monday at 6:30 so a slower pace overall. We really enjoyed the vibe, cocktails and meals. The service was timely, friendly and helpful. Enjoyed the creative cocktails. Not sure how the summer crowd is but the off-season was just right for us. A bit pricey but highly recommend it for couples or family dining w/adult children.

We have been coming to 50 local for the last decade. It is reliably one of my favourite restaurants in the world. The service is always great, wonderful drinks choices and the menu always have several things that are new and grab my attention. Recently, I've been really partial to the gnocchi with jalapenos, but in the past I have also loved the crab cakes and my absolute favourite is the buttermilk dressing greens. Of course, the oysters are also incredible.

3 out of the 4 of us were happy, not ecstatic about their food. One was too salty and the noodles were all stuck together. 2 of the group had been before and wanted to try it again after a lackluster first time. We might try again, but there was nothing that made us want to go back anytime soon.

My husband and I had dinner there tonight and I have to say, the food was way better than the service. We waited over 45 minutes for our dinner while others that came in after us received their dinners before us. The worst part is the server gave us no communication. There was no; I am sorry it is taking long or I will check on it, zero communication just walked by us 15 times. I will say both my salad and short ribs were amazing. My husband ordered the scallops and gnocchi which he said that the gnocchi was too salty but the scallops were awesome he just wished he had more. We were there over 2 hours which with zero communication was way too long for us.

Went there for out first time last night. I ordered the Kimchi Wings which were pretty good. My wife ordered a crab cake which turned out to be more of a meatball than a crab cake, Never seen one so small before and for $14 thought it might be heartier. We enjoyed our main courses. I had plenty left and was planning on bringing it home. The server took it quickly without offering to provide me a box; just whisked it away. We ended the meal with lemon sorbet. It was lemony but the consistency was that of an amusement park snow-cone.

Seven of us ate here and loved our dinners. Three of us had the mussels in a red stew of tomatoes, onions and corn with grilled bread. Absolutely delicious!! A clear winner. Don’t recall what the others had but just know it was unanimous that we were all very happy with our choices.

A completely disappointing experience. Slow service, and a condescending manager with a lack in professionalism. It was not an enjoyable dinner, as I couldn't stomach the massively over-salted meal and sent it back. Too many excellent dining options in Kennebunk to go to this sloppy mess. Skip it.

There are some nice restaurants in this area, but my "go to" is 50 Local, when I want to have a relaxing night out with friends. The atmosphere is always welcoming, the staff is friendly and professional, and the cocktails are delicious! The food is consistently delicious, with my favorites being the baked haddock and the Statler chicken. The mussels are done perfectly, and the farm egg salad is a great way to begin your meal. If you're in the mood for a burger, theirs is second to none. There's something for everyone! 50 Local is a gem in the heart of Kennebunk. Highly recommended!

It's a small restaurant with a casual vibe. While we were greeted well, we felt the service was not good. We waited for over an hour for our meals, and the service was slow. My meal was so so very salted...after waiting so long to eat, I had 1/3 of the meal before the salt really was so strong. I just couldn't eat it. While they offered me something else, I declined. Once the bill came, the manager argued with my spouse over taking the $20 meal off the $200 bill, saying that I had eaten some of it. It wasn't the expense that was the issue, it was the principle of making a customer pay for a horrible meal they could not stomach. I would never go back there. It was super over priced for what you get. The manager lacked professionalism and good judgement.

This was a last moment dinner choice we regretted. A small, strip mall style, hole in the wall, with nuevo style, decent bread, limited menu options and slow service. They cater to their local returning customers mostly. I left there feeling unfulfilled and displeased. My expectations are high, I'll admit, but this restaurant was truly pricey for what you get. We are locals and would love to eat here more often, but the food is WAY TOO SALTY! The vibe is great, drinks are excellent, staff is so so nice, but the food, in my opinion, is inedible given the salt level!

If you come through the side entrance, there's a cute gift shop you have to check out. 50 Local also had a baby name 58 Main. Check my photos. Also, you can park right there on main street for two hours no worries. 🤗 The staff was pleasant and seemed like they were happy to be there. Apparently the owners must be treating the employees right. This restaurant needs to be on your go-to list. This place was poppin 😚. Blake was our server and he took care of us. I can tell you that servers are exceptional when they hear their name vs "excuse me, excuse me." They know exactly where to turn when they hear their name. The food and ambiance was excellent. Reservations are required. Go at 5p and have the place to yourself. Get the salad with the poachds egg on top. Perfect for the light eater or hot summer night. The crab 🦀 cakes are served on a thick wooden paddle with spicy mayo and pickled onions. The cake itself is served as a meatball shape not as a cake/paddy. I had the mussel frites (that means fries served on top of the mussels) - ask for them on the side. 💁‍♀️ If you're a bourbon drinker, and am old fashioned doesn't tempt you, and you feeling like you had a donkey 🐴 kind of day? Ask for a mule, they'll make you one. Right on. The serve fresh hot bread out of the oven (at least at 5p they do) and filtered water for the table.

This place never disappoints. Cozy vibe verging on speakeasy. Homemade bread is excellent and mocktails/cocktails are sublime. Local ingredients crafted with obvious care. A little on the pricier side but so worth it! The crab cake was the best I’d ever had- packed with real crabmeat, piping hot and the blend of spice with the remoulade was perfection. Loved it!

My cocktail was delicious. My calamari was too too spicy (like so hot it was no longer about the flavor), but my server did try to remedy it so that's on me. I didn't want to offend the chef. My fault, not theirs since they asked to fix it. The ambience was nice.

I just love Juli the chef so much. The best fries are made by her. Handcut fries are usually so inconsistent, but she makes them perfectly. I make sure to request handcut fries by Juli.

I was looking forward to eating at 50 Local for the first time, and had made a reservation a month in advance, but as I ate my meal I was very disappointed and saddened. I made a reservation for, and was seated at, 6:30, but my meal did not come until 8:00. Including entrees and desert, I was unable to get my check until 9:00. I had the Rigatoni Bolognese, which was so acidic and smelly it was practice inedible. There was one entirely solid chunk of ground meat on the top, and the few prices of pasta in the dish were totally over cooked and falling apart. After finishing my entree the entire restaurant was almost empty, and still my desert took half an hour, despite only being sorbet. As I ate dessert I could hear the staff seated at the bar laughing at and making fun of my table, as I had previously asked where the desert was since it had taken so long. Pictured below is the lavender-elderberry sorbet, which was a disappointing and disgusting end to a disappointing and frustrating three hour dinner.

I just moved to the area recently (on the Kennebunk side of Wells!) and happened upon 50 Local last summer. It was fabulous! And we've been there several times since and have never been disappointed! We bring family and friends there as often as we can when they are visiting. The staff are excellent, fabulous cocktails, very creative and locally sourced dishes, super cool, low key, cozy atmosphere. Love it! The bar is cool to just chill with a drink and maybe a sharing of the cheese & charcuterie board (yum!). I can't say enough. Love it, looking forward to going back soon! This is the place to eat. The chef is amazing. The food is truly fabulous. I moved here from Atlanta and this place outshines any of the fine dining there. It’s better than Earth restaurant, by far. Also, check out their cooking and cocktail classes. Fabulous. And I love the shop next to it

From the moment you walk-in, you're in good hands. We were seated by a very lovely women, whom we found later to be the owner. Wine, beer and cocktail offerings are above your expectations. Cocktails being so innovative and impressive with homemade shrub and syrups....

Abundance of local food that will not disappoint, along with some cocktail wizards behind the bar! Along with a beautiful dining room.

Excellent service. Cocktails were great. I had the Haddock which was delicious and the whipped potatoes were good but Luke warm. Overall it was a great New Years Eve dinner.
