Amazing food! Best greek food ive had by far, can honestly say prefer this than its greek to me!

Had the greek salad with grilled chicken and it was just amazing. The best grilled chicken I've ever had. Spinach pies were so delicious as well. Ever in a greek food mood definitely try this place. My food was so good that I haven't even finished my food and I'm writing a review. ... Must try for sure...

Just going to dive in. The food was amazing! My friend has been telling me to try this place for a while and now I am glad that I had a chance to try it for myself. Very fresh and tasteful. Everything was beyond expectations. I will be ordering / visiting again .

It's an old restaurant. Salad food is fresh. It was a crowded restaurant, so it was a bit chaotic, but the server was kind and friendly, so it was a pleasant evening.

I took my wife here for her birthday dinner and it was a beautiful meal. The last time we visited here was before the pandemic and all our fond memories of this excellent restaurant were brought back and I think as great as it was years ago I think it might be even better now. The food was excellent. Everything was fresh and seemed very natural and wholesome. This place is what I would call "slow food" with all the best connotations of this description. Everything takes a while to receive because everything is prepared fresh and it's most definitely worth the wait. Their tzatziki was beautifully garlicky. The service was great. I think this is one of the best Greek restaurants in the tri-state area. I look forward to dining here again soon.

If you are ever in the mood for a Greek food (especially Greek salad) this place is great. Solid food, simple and delicious.

I'll be returning to this restaurant with all of my friends, extended family, and even acquaintances- everyone has got to try this diamond in the rough. I don't understand the reviews complaining about the small size- that's what makes it a charming hole-in-the-wall. Highly recommend the grilled octopus, three dip spread, fried eggplant, Greek salad, and branzino. Our server Andrew was BEYOND hospitable. 5 stars without a doubt.

Black guy (Andrew) working there is extremely rude made me wait for the order even though it was ready! Dude get a life 🙄

Terrible customer service and Food is not any good. In a tiny secluded area makes the atmosphere feel hollow and depressing. Just save your money and don’t go here.

The gyro sandwich was delicious and the portion was just right. Very pleased with the speed of the service and the flavors of the meat spices and sauce.

Extremely sub par food. The lemon soup tasted like lemon dish soap. The pastichio was over cooked had noodles that were way too long and had Parmesan cheese in it (???) the after taste of it is still with me. The spanakopita and Tiropita had a weird taste hell even the pita tasted nasty. I’m going to stick to my normal authentic Greek place.

The food was perfection! We had the Tiropitakia (not pictured), chicken souvlaki, pastichio, and some amazing powdered cookies. The flavors were *chefs kiss*! We will definitely be back.

I wish there were 10 stars for the review!!! I have never written a review before but this place made me reconsider so here's my first one... Both dine in and take out options are amazing! Delicious food (no matter what we've tried so far), cooked to perfection and full of flavors each time. Everything is fresh (which is very important to me) and made on the spot. Serving is always awesome as well!!! It's definitely worth the trip if you are close (even if you're not) to Bergen County. DO NOT MISS IT!

The food here is incredible and worth the price. My go to is Lamb Souvlaki Platter w/ Greek fries. Tzatziki is on point and compliments the meat very well. This place is my go to for Greek cuisine

Absolutely amazing local restaurant . It’s a great BYOB restaurant for Greek food. They give you a large amount of food for the money and the food is very high-quality and delicious.

We found this place because we “Googled” best Greek restaurants in Bergen County. It lived up to its reviews! It is indeed a super tiny place but the food was excellent and the server was great. We shared a delicious Branzino entree, soup and tzatziki and had some to take home. On a cold night, we ventured out and were rewarded with this find.

Themis runs one of the most genuine restaurants around! His soup is award willing for a reason! everything is always fresh and full of flavor. I could eat here every day if money allowed!

This is my favorite greek restaurant. The food is consistent and delicious. We ordered to go, there was some confusion on a meal and it was too late to change it. Greek salad and chicken (kids like it) are my favorite. Nowadays both dishes are my weekly order. Years ago my boss took his team including me to this Greek restaurant. i liked it. Couple years ago I "discovered" it again. Love it. While reading reviews i noticed one person mentioned grilled vegetables and how great it was. I tried ... now order every week. It's a little tight inside, not big deal for me i take food home (it's close). Still i see families and groups of friends enjoying food and company.

Laid back atmosphere went during early lunch time. Place is small but cute. Server very friendly and food was very tasty and satisfying. Also had lemon chicken soup and naan bread with hummus which was included with our meal.

Give yourself some extra drive time. It's easy to miss and parking is very tight. The place smelled amazing when I walked in. It's very small so if dining in consider a reservation. But the patrons seemed to be having a good time. Appears to be byob. My sides were better than my entree. Salad, pita, and dessert were very good. But my beschemel was a little over cooked and much denser than I am used to. Always excited to support a small local business.

The hummus served on table was nice and good. My meal was good but only hot on outside area and cooler towards center. I didn't send it back because we were on a time schedule. The place needs a makeover though; it is a bit dull and a simple paint job with some colors of Greece would be nice. I know they do a good takeout business since Covid but it would be nice for eating in atmosphere not to be so dark

Tucked into a nondescript strip mall off of Kinderkamack Road, this tiny "hole in the wall" establishment, clearly popular with the locals, is truly a trip to Greece, located in River Edge. The parking lot is small, and because it’s shared with other businesses, it could be difficult to maneuver during a busy time of day. Upon entering as a first-timer, the interior was warmly decorated about 10 closely spaced tables with an open view of the kitchen. Reservations are highly encouraged. The menu was extensive, with all the staples of Greek cuisine. For starters, my colleague and I decided on the Chicken Avgolemono soup and Horiatiki Authentic Village Salad with cucumbers, tomato, peppers, onion, feta cheese, olives, and oregano to share. For our entree, we decided to share the sliced steak, accompanied by Mediterranean rice and seasonal vegetables. Complimentary fresh grilled pita with hummus and roasted sweet peppers started off our meal. Themis (the owner and chef) really poured his heart and soul into his food to add those special touches, creating a delicious surprise. It was tasty, authentic, and delicious. He even came out to say thank you, to check on our experience, and to treat us to a complimentary almond dessert. The portions were very generous and price reasonable. The friendly staff, including our server, Andrew, went out of his way to try to offer a high level of service and make patrons feel comfortable, which is why we can recommend this place.

Superb Greek food! We had the kalamarakis, lamb shish, and steak platter...all excellent and in quantity. Small hole in the wall dining punctuated by an active take out counter...clearly popular with the locals. Worth the trip. Alas, no alcohol licensw, so bring your own ouzo.

A Taste of Greece never disappoints! I am greek myself with a mother who cooked a home cooked greek meal for me every night for 18 years so it’s not easy to top that! My husband and I kept it simple tonight and had two lamb gyros and saganaki. By the end of the meal, we both looked at each other and agreed this has been one of the best we’ve had in a very long time. We are use to the greek restaurants in Astoria, Queens but no need when this amazing gem is right here in River Edge. Everything from start to finish was exceptional. We highly recommend and have to say it’s definitely one the best greek restaurants in NJ! A MUST try!

This is my go-to spot for Gyro Take-out. This is what a gyro should taste like! Meat is tender and they do not skimp out! Don't let the parking and outside area fool you, the food is excellent

The place is loud and a bit smoky, due to music and the lack of a wall between the kitchen and dining area. The cooked vegetables were extremely burned and had 3x the balsamic vinegar as needed. Only 70% of it was edible. The souvlaki meat was dry and also more burned than I prefer, but definitely not undercooked. Portions were good enough that 2 dishes would be enough for 3 people. The salad was very fresh and perfectly dressed. The main dishes took about 15-20 min to show up, even with few other diners, but the appetizer was quick.

The portions were quite large. The avgolemono, eggplant salad, horiatiki, octopus was delicious! It’s a small restaurant with just a few seats. Chef Themistoklis and staff were very welcoming.

A Taste of Greece has been the most incredible experience in Greek Mediterranean cuisine and a true gem of Bergen County. Some of my favorites are the souvlaki, chicken lemon soup, grilled octopus and the grilled vegetables. But the hummus is absolutely otherworldly, fresh and so good you can’t have hummus anywhere else. I think the commonality in everything here is how fresh, flavorful and delicious each dish is here. It’s almost as if your Greek grandmother were cooking your favorite dishes for you but instead it’s Chef Themis, a true maestro of the kitchen, delivering your dishes with care and a smile. Highly recommended! A true gem.

Horrible experience. Called and ordered food for pick up, the restaurant stated 15-20 Min. We ended up waiting over an hour for our food. We only ordered a salad and a gyro. At least 15 people waiting outside. Poorly ran. Horrible experience.

visited last week. hummus and chips, greek salad they gave us was great. we ordered 4 dishes and every dish was sooo good!! grilled octopus was unique grilled chicken was okay roasted (pan baked) eggplant was excellent! greek french fries was not salty and good! i am defenitely gonna visit here again! Great place!!!

Came here for dinner with my girlfriend and was really impressed by how delicious everything was. The restaurant itself is small but very homey, the staff was pleasant and helpful. The food was great and very authentic, everything tasted homemade and fresh. I would definitely recommend for authentic Greek food.

Friendly staff at counter. Haven’t had a worse lamb pita ever. 4 cubes of undercooked chewy meat and 400 French fries 😂😂 for $17 I will never spend there again. 🤣

30 minutes waiting to give take out order and gave up. Tried again and same response again! They pick up the phone and put it on the counter, so you hear all the conversations among the staff but they never came back to actually take the order. Waste of time, twice.

This goes to the staff that handles the entitled and arrogant patrons with grace, and the food is A1. Be nice to the staff, it’s a cozy little spot, and hiring more staff would spread margins too thin. Get over yourselves and arrive here anticipating that you may be seated about 15-20 mns after your reservation. If that’s too much for you, go to another Greek spot and hope for a faster seating time. No need to act your shoe size and throwing a tantrum because you’re not seated immediately…you literally kill the vibe for others with your childish attitude. To the staff, you’re amazing.

Im a Greek Freak Queens transplant originally from Astoria. I know good greek food when I try it. Since moving to Jersey Ive tried Mythos Taverna in Fairview, Vasilis Taverna in Teaneck, It's Greek To Me in Fort Lee, Greek Island Grill in Hackensack, and Greek Town Gyros in Rutherford. Guess what. THIS RESTAURANT IS THE BEST & MOST AUTHENTIC OF ANY OUTSIDE OF NY. I hope they stick around for a long time because this will be the only place I will go to for my Greek fix!!

Been going here since I was a young teen, and still my favorite place for great gyro pita sandwiches and Greek food in general! Just went to dine in recently, as they have two tables open to sit down now, and the food was spectacular: juicy roasted chicken cooked perfectly, tender lamb chops that can be easily cut with a butter knife, and plentiful tasty grilled shrimp, all shared between my family. Great service too, with the server always attending to us and with a complementary starter of grilled pita bread served with what I believe is red pepper hummus. Hoping to see the owner Themis and say hi the next time I come again!

Was ok. Stopped in a last month looking for a Greek fix. Maybe I'm spoiled from hanging out in Astoria queens for Greek food but the place didn't wow me. The beefsteki had too much nutmeg in it. Just overpowered the other flavors. Chicken was just a little in the dry side but had some flavor. Meatballs were better then average. May have been an off night but expected a bit more is all. I will try it again when I'm in the mood.

My sandwich fell apart. At first I played the blame game. I thought that no one on this Earth, no matter how supportive they were could have kept this sandwich together. It was simply to fragile and soggy. It didn’t matter how caring the hands were that picked it up, it just wanted to fall apart regardless. After a little while of blaming the sandwich for everything, I started to look inward. Was it my fault in any way? I mean the sandwich was by itself for a while. I was late to pick it up and after I picked it up, I ignored it for another hour. Maybe it would have all worked out if the timing was better on my part. One human hour is probably so many sandwich hours. I could have been more considerate of the sandwich’s past and maybe then I would have been more supportive when picking it up. Was I just thinking about myself? I soon realized it was pointless trying to figure out who’s fault it was. I needed to focus on the task at hand, I had a broken sandwich. If I didn’t care for it, I wouldn’t bother trying to put it back together. That wasn’t the case for me, I still felt like there was hope for us. So one by one I started to put the pieces back. Sure, I never had the same sandwich again, but I’d argue that this one was even better.

Having ordered takeout many times, they are always consistently serving one of the best gyro sandwiches in town! Had the chance to dine in before covid and the experience and food was phenomenal as well. Unfortunately, it looks like they are still only doing take out and not sure when / if they’ll return to dine in service.

A strange thing happened when i walked into this place. I was transported to Athens! I was greeted by a jolly man asking me what i wanted to eat. I was shocked to learn that i now speak Greek. I was surrounded by the unwashed masses also waiting for their food. But i was special, i sent a messenger pigeon ahead of my arrival containing strict instructions about the feast my brethren and i were expecting. Nevertheless i had to wait another 15-20 minutes even though i arrived at their specified time. I assume they had to fend off a Lion attack and lost a few of their men, thus the delays. Upon returning home with the feast, we all agreed that this was by far the best Greek restaurant the space-time continuum can provide. We only hope they can replace the colleagues lost to the lions and can prepare food in a speedier fashion next time.

Terrible service. Ordered at 6:30, was told food would be ready at 7:15, and had to cancel my order at 7:45. The tiny space was filled with frustrated customers. For a $15 gyro, I expect better.

this place is LEGIT. It is hands down the best Greek food available in the area. Many of their dishes rival those of my Greek mother-in-law. Truly excellent.

Great experience. The staff was super nice and provided a great experience. This was our first time there. While we were waiting for our food, we were offered some samples of rice pudding. It was delicious. Get some rice pudding, delicious. Large portions and seasoned very well.
