It's overpriced,the service, except the hostess that was very lovely, everything was a terrible experience, the old people think are superior than us, the waitress was in a hurry but the food came very slow. I ask for French fries for my little (special needs)for starting but everything came together, the soup du jour was iced cold, the fries nothing special, the French 75 was OK, and finally the duck confit that my husband order is not great and he finish the night hungry. We spent a lot money with average food, poor service and the ambiance is not that great. Maybe this still open because the rich neighbors still spending money in ordinary food. I have much better experiences in places that cost a fraction this place. Go somewhere else.

This place has been going downhill for couple years now.. definitely today was our last time eating there after we gave this place a chance many times in the last year or so. The inhouse fettuccini was the worst fettuccini we ever had, cold and the smoked salmon on the top was a joke!! No pepper or salt on the table or offered on the fettuccine or on the Hanger stake which was also cold. A big cube of butter disproportionate with bread ( which was cold and rubbery) was put on the table.

My experience at Aixois was for a special event (Royal Afternoon Tea by Tea Market). The menu was specially prepared to pair with different teas. The food was divine. My favorite was the gazpacho. I will return to eat in the restaurant.

Heard they had good pastries, so I decided to drive down from Overland Park. We walked in and no one greeted us, despite the fact that multiple employees were standing near the entrance. We asked to sit on the patio. We were seated, the hostess didn't ask about drinks or say someone would be right with us. We sat there for over 5 minutes with no interaction from staff. I look up a few times and could see one of the employees looking at us through the window (white male/black hair), but no one ever came out to take our order. What a joke. I'm not sure if they just have really poor service or if we were discriminated against. Either way, we won't be back. Go to Blackhole Bakery for your pastries. They are just a few blocks away. They are phenomenal and they have great service. Don't waste your time or money at this place.

Monday at noon with my friend. Found Belgian beer 👍! We shared a Quiche Lorraine with beets gazpacho, Terrine Maison, and Crème Brûlée. Everything was tasty but the terrine, too bland. Service was very good and the patio is a gem. I’ll be back!

Yummy and a good night to be outside and dine. We also had our dog with us for dinner.

We have been to Aixois a couple of times in the past and we thought we had a good, not great, meal. This time we went for lunch and we just weren't impressed. We both had the French onion soup and it was just OK, it seemed to have a herb forward taste and something was off with the texture or taste of the bread. It also seemed to need more onion. My wife had quiche Lorraine which was good, I ordered the crepe parisienne and it was not. The crepe was a dark brown and very dry and an unusual flavor. I usually eat anything even if it is not my favorite, but I just couldn't finish even half. I asked the waitress and apparently it is made with buckwheat flour. I don't remember it stating that on the menu, but I found it almost inedible. We have decided it was probably our last visit after trying to like this restaurant. Service was good.

My friends and I had lunch at Aixois today; it was another delightful meal! Our server was Amelia B, who was superb. She was friendly, attentive, and efficient; when we had questions about the menu, she cheerfully answered them. She assisted me in deciding what to order, and I'm grateful for her help! I had the special - a bacon, lettuce, tomato and avocado sandwich with a side salad, and a raspberry Italian soda. Everything was absolutely delicious, and so fresh! One friend had the salmon salad special, which she said was quite tasty, and my other friend had a bowl of gazpacho. She added shrimp but could only afford one due to the price. She also enjoyed her meal. My friends split an order of crème brulee which was very good, until they reached the bottom and encountered a whitish disc that at first appeared to be a cookie. When they tasted it, however, it seemed to be dry ingredients from the custard that had not mixed in. It wasn't unpleasant, just unexpected. We brought it to Amelia's attention, and she took it back to the kitchen to let them know. Amelia was happy to split our bill three ways, and--from start to finish--ensured that we had the very best meal possible. The atmosphere in Aixois is very inviting. The only difficulties I encountered were due to my temporary need for a rolling walker. I have a handicap placard for my car but the sole handicap space was occupied, so my friends pulled along the curb and let me out before finding a place to park. As I was walking in from the street, I noticed several irregularities in the sidewalk and outdoor patio. I was able to navigate these without difficulty, but I believe they might prove hazardous to someone more frail. I recommend Aixois lobby the Crestwood shopping area owners for additional handicap parking spaces, and attend to the sidewalk and outdoor patio to ensure safe access to their restaurant.

Aixois opened a new location at Park Place in Leawood recently. I have been there twice. The first time i went with friends for dinner and we all had great meals and excellent service. The interior renovation and design is very well done. It reminds me of French bistros in New York City where i lived for many years. Very nice ambience in the Leawood location. The second time i went, i sat outside with my dog for an early dinner in their wonderful outdoor street side dining area and had a great Caesar Salad, terrific French Fries, and a Ginger Ale - which is nearly impossible to find around here anywhere. The service was A+. It was a hot day and they happily gave my dog a bowl of water. Excellent experience all around. I will certainly go back again!

Always a pleasant experience. Excellent service and food quality. This place is in an area where you can go for a walk before lunch so it can be packed out to the porch at times so be sure to get an advanced reservation. We have ordered nearly everything on the menu and all of it is excellent. If you're on a walk stop in here to pick up some of their french sweets!

The Poke Bowl was good. My partner got the Salmon Burger and she said it was mediocre at best. Both items were not worth $19 dollars. The service was unhelpful and unpleasant. The host didn't even address us when we arrived, despite there being only 6 customers in the restaurant. When I told him we had a reservation, he just went, "Hmpf." Our server couldn't give us a decent recommendation for sandwiches saying, "I don't know. They taste like burgers." Not worth your time unless you're in a pinch.

Service is zero star for me. Rude service and the food was okay. Wouldn’t come back unless I have no other options.

2 hrs!!!! And we still did not get our entree. Wednesday nite. When we arrived for our 6:00 reservation we waited in a non moving line for 10 minutes while the hostess was setting up a table for guests who were not there yet. When we were finally seated we waited 10 minutes before we got any attention. 10 more minutes before we got to order drinks. The waiter said he would bring bread. He never did. We waited 15 more minutes for a drink. Ordered our food. 15 minutes later we got apps. Now it is 7:00. When we were sat we told the waiter we had a concert to get to by 8:00. Salad came 15" later. Never got entree. It's now 7:40 so we flagged down our waiter. Told him we needed to leave. He checked on food. It was finally done. He gave it to us to go. We left the restaurant at 7:50. Needless to say we were late for the concert. I have more to say but I think you get the gist. So disappointed. Won't be going back. Plenty of other restaurant choices in the area.

Pomme frites ( French Fries) OVER-rated.

Ones of my favorite places in the city. It's authentic French food and pastries, with an ambience that makes me feel like I am actually overseas in France. I have dined on the lovely patio and in the front sunroom, and every time it's been rejuvenating and enjoyable!

We decided to try Aixois late Saturday night and sat on the patio. The atmosphere was beautiful, although we did feel a little under-dressed compared to other patrons. We tried the white and red blends and they were just okay, but well-priced. We tried the pistachio pasta with salmon (good) and the grilled hangar steak with fries. The fries were cut and cooked nicely and the salad greens were a nice addition. Unfortunately I ordered my steak medium and it was served to me blue-rare. I didn’t mention it to the server because it was getting late (she had already mentioned last call for bar), but honestly I was pretty disappointed. Considering the steak is served pre-sliced, I’m surprised it was able to make it past the kitchen staff, expo and server without someone realizing it was closer to raw than medium. This restaurant is a wonderful place to grab a late-night cocktail, but for the price point and lack of attention to detail, I would rather have dinner somewhere else beforehand.

really wanted to like this restaurant but was disappointed from start to finish. Wanted something to remind us of home and we guess the food is great by US standards but it was definitely c-tier food. The onion soup somehow was flavorless. Our server did her best, but you would think that one should know the pronunciations of items on the menu when they are ordered. Hoped for a taste of France, ended up with just another americanized version of what should be classic French food.

Visited for a fun lunch on the patio. The hostess was sweet, but the other staff were stuffy. I loved the bread. Didn’t care for the sparkling wine…too sour and not that cold. I had fettuccine with smoked salmon. It sure didn’t have a nice visual appeal. But, I give it a 6. I won’t go back for a long time. Cute place. Maybe to try a different drink and pastry. They said the bread wasn’t even homemade. Hubby had cheeseburger and fries. He liked it. I loved his fries.

Morning coffee on the patio at Aixois is a perfect start to any day.

My sister and I went here for restaurant week and it was such a charming experience. Some of the best steak frites I’ve ever had. Definitely worth trying.

What a wonderful place for lunch with a friend. The menu offers plenty of choices. The service was exceptional. And there's plenty of outdoor seating, if that's your choice. Try the bibb lettuce salad with shrimp. It's pretty to look at and tastes great. The dessert menu looked great, if you feel being decadent.

The duck pasta was *chefs kiss* 😘 and cocktails were delicious!

The service is sometimes great and sometimes mediocre. The food is usually quite good.

Not the greatest vibes, but was there on a Monday so not the best day to gauge. Ordered the salmon with spinach and mashed potatoes - it was very plain. Had to doctor the dish with some fresh lemon, salt, and pepper. Bread wasn’t great and came with unsalted butter; was hoping for good beurre de sel. Dessert left a lot to be desired; was decent but very tiny portion. Presentation overall was not what I had hoped for, given the price. Maybe just ordered the wrong things. Service was pretty slow. Might give it another try in the summertime, if new menu items pop up.

Stopped for cozy comfort food after a Saturday morning walk. Enjoyed a croque monsieur and the most beautiful mocha at the bar.

This is a wonderful place in Brookside.

I will say the food was good, but certainly not the greatest by any means. Too much butter in one dish. Too much vinegar in another. Food definitely did match the price. Christina was the only bright light of the meal. She did a wonderful job. And it's because of her that I'd be willing give this place another chance.

Finally made it to Aixois and I'm glad I did! We started off with the french onion soup and a sweet potato and leek soup. The french onion soup was perfect! I enjoyed the sweet potato and leek soup; it was very peppery which I enjoyed but a lady behind me apparently thought it was too spicy. My wife did a pasta w/ salmon dish. They were out of buratta unfortunately; they subbed goat cheese and it was still delicious. I wasn't super adventurous - I did the steak, potatoes, and veggies. Everything was perfect. Their house Cotes du Rhone was very nice and paired well with my meal. We ended with a chocolate crepe and mousse au chocolate. Very well executed - especially the madeleine cookie! The only downside on this particular evening - they have outdoor covered seating. They had heaters going, but it did get quite drafty from time-to-time. I would have preferred to sit inside. All in all, great experience, great food, great service.

Disappointing. The French onion soup was tasty and well prepared with a crusty cheesy top, but two other dishes had problems: the seafood pasta contained rubbery pieces of calamari that were basically inedible. The $14 salade du jour was garnished with grape tomatoes that were unripe and sour. We like the ambiance of Aixois, but these two dishes did not meet our expectations.

We loved our moment. No need to sit at the bar. Get a table for two and create your world while sipping and eating.

I had a solo date with myself on a very cold January day. I sat at the bar. The bartender was attentive. The house rouge wine was good. The hanger steak for $31 was amazing! I spent two hours with great food, a cozy atmosphere, and my book. I can’t wait to come back with friends.

Cute little French restaurant. I went there because they allow dogs on their outdoor covered patio. Robin was my server and she was very attentive and friendly. The hostess Stoney did not leave as good of an impression. She would not take my coffee order because she "wasn't my server" and was rather rude when I accidentally spilled my coffee creamer and was trying to clean it up. Robin was helpful and did not make me feel bad about the mishap. I had the French onion soup which was delicious. I am looking forward to coming back and trying the Escargot!

Aixois is one of my favorite KC restaurants, and our latest visit is just one of the reasons why. We enjoyed a late lunch on a cold, rainy day with our newly 21 year old before going to see the trees at Union Station. It was so warm and cozy. The friendly server helped my daughter choose the spot-on girlie cocktail to introduce her to day drinking (she's now a fan). Our lunch was perfectly French and totally yummy (mussels, quiche, frites, and sandwiches), and, of course, included chocolate mousse for dessert. We usually visit Aixois in the summer to enjoy their amazing patio (which is enclosed and open in the winter as well), but it was equally as enjoyable in the winter. Can't wait to return.

Wonderful 20+ year tradition of hospitality led by Chef/Owner Emmanuel Langlade and his lovely wife Megan. Absolutely delicious food with attentive and professional service. Well-designed wine list and unique cocktails. Dining rooms are warm and inviting, perfect for every day or a special occasion, whether you live in the neighborhood or are in from out of town. Highest recommendation, you will be pleased.

This review is based on service and atmosphere only. We left without ordering. My husband made a 9:15am reservation for Saturday brunch, and requested to be seated at the bar which the employee confirmed. We arrived around 9:05 and when we walked inside, there were employees gathered behind the counter but no one at the host stand. As you often do when you sit at the bar, we decided to seat ourselves after waiting several minutes. A few more minutes passed and an employee came over to tell us that table and bar service wouldn’t commence until 10am, but we could order coffee and food at the coffee bar if we didn’t want full service. We wanted full service, which was why the reservation was made. (A reservation implies “full service” to me). Perhaps we will come back another day to try the food.

Simply lovely A quiet cozy place great for lunch or a date. The Service was attentive but not over bearing the food choices were delicious. I hade breakfast and the Omelet was cooked perfect with a delicious greet salad on the side. If you are in the need of a quiet place to slow down and enjoy your food and the company you are with I would highly recommend Aixois

It's been a goto place for me for years. Last 3 times below par. Yesterday I ordered Caesar salad. It was about one cup of salad for $14! Additionally, it was waay overdressed, soggy. Not crisp. Bye bye Aixois.

We went for brunch and we had a really nice experience. The taste of the coffee was nice The pastry as croissant/ toast/ madame croquette very tasty. The service was right. Overall a nice experience, a bit expensive but worth it.

Best French Onion Soup I've ever had

We had dinner with friends @aixoisbistro and the overall experience was maybe average. The four of us agreed that the food was bland. When you pay around $200 per couple the expectations are high and they did not meet our expectations. My wife loves French Onion soup and she didn't care for theirs. The hanger steak was a bit chewy but was prepared correctly. The desserts were the highlight of the meal. It was not worth the price.

We went there for a private party and their event area was great for a smaller group.

This is one of my favorite restaurants. (In fact, it was where my now husband and I went on our first date, but that's beside the point.) Our most recent visit tonight blew us out of the water. We had excellent service, and our food was perfect, so much so that we actually ordered dessert, which is something that we almost never do. The only critique that I could possibly have was that the heaters for the covered patio seating could have been turned up a little more but even then, if asked even taking that into consideration I would say that it was a perfect experience.

Food is delicious, owners are very nice. The fries and hot chocolate are so good. Highly recommend!!

Best staff best food best service best atmosphere

Quaint French restaurant, great for lunch or any other time. Variety of selections from salads, appetizers, sandwiches and entrees. We had the escargot and cheese plate to start. This was followed by a salad w salmon, a pasta w salmon and the croquet. All were delicious. We had no room left, so we took some pastries to go.

Cozy little spot. Good French comfort food.

It's small but perfect for a quick meeting or meet up with friends.

Eggs were overcooked to death, food was ice cold. Bacon tasted cheap and crumbled. Can get better food at waffle house. Very disappointed will not be coming back at all

My husband and I enjoyed a late lunch here. We had Escargot, Grilled Angus Hangar Steak and Quiche Lorraine. Everything was delicious! The restaurant is quiet and good for conversation. Service was good. We’ll definitely be back next time we’re in Kansas City!

We were guests at a luncheon. The coffee drinks and food were delicious. The corner room with the surrounding windows and view were lovely. I'm looking forward to seeing it when it's finished. Only con, we had several people not part of our event enter our area through the adjoining door and walked through. It's posted do not enter but people are missing it. Charming place to visit.

Delicious authentic French Faire with inspiring cocktails. We shared several items and everything was delicious. Our waitress was sweet and attentive.

Great grilled artichoke and bread. The Mistress drink was awesome. Came back next day for tacos. Parking can be a little iffy. I will definitely come back and eat outside!

Great comfy place, but needs more vegan options. Salad and fries are OK, but I speak for many of us who say those are boring options. Where are the fruits and veggies without cheese? Or how about a vegan cheese line up with fruit? A no egg crepe? A vegetable medley with a "Just Egg" product or a pasta primavera? You're so close yet so far. The photo is the tart my date ordered. Nice presentation.

This is our favorite restaurant in Kansas City. We love it here. The outdoor dining is awesome. Food is excellent. A favorite is the trout. Frequent delicious specials. We most recently went for dinner but lunch is also great.

Amazing experience!! I loved everything about the service, lunch, and atmosphere. I have gone here for over 20 years and last Monday was the best experience yet. The server was kind, helpful and accommodating. The cheese board and salad were a 10 out of 10! The shrimp and avocado salad was the best salad I’ve had at a restaurant in years. I plan to go back very soon. C'était délicieux!

It was a challenging night for Axois. Pork chop was undercooked when I had asked for it well done. The waiters only response was that will take time. . It came back and was running red and I sent it back only to have it continue to run red on the second try. I could not enjoy and still paid over $100 without addressing that neither of us could consume our meals. I have been coming here for 15 years and never experienced such poor service and poor food. I know next time it will be better.

I am extremely loyal to this restaurant. I have been coming here since 1996. I no longer live in the state but when I come to Kansas City, I always make sure I get to eat at Aixois. Great neighbor feel. Perfect for casual dining or a special event such as a birthday, anniversary, or romantic evening.

Aixois is a favorite! The food is always fresh and delicious, with daily specials. The staff from the hostess to the chef are excellent at what they do and work beautifully together to create an amazing dining experience.

He’s super cute French Café and restaurant. The pastries were amazing and the coffee are with spot on.

We’ve been before for dinner which was decent. Went back for brunch and it appeared everyone on the patio was being ignored, while staff chatted amongst themselves inside. After sitting there for fifteen minutes without so much as a glass of water, we left. We didn’t say anything rude (or anything at all) however hostess rolled her eyes at us on the way out. Won’t be back.

Aixois has it all from a “Good” morning with your favorite coffee and breakfast, a “Good” afternoon with lunch choices to an awesome dinner! Their coffee room has plenty of space I can find a table to do a casual business meeting or just chat with a friend.

Came here with my grandparents for lunch and had some fantastic food! The salmon salad was good, my fiance couldn't stop raving about the chorizo sausage (it was a special that day). A little small, but quite frankly, worth it even just for the smells.

Literally one of our go-to places in Brookside. Simply great. Phenomenal staff, classy-menu, and a chef who actually speaks French. (He had better!)
