This place has had a change in ownership and name but the same dynamic chef. Their dishes are dynamite and they will cater to your spice level if you aren’t into spicy. Their coconut chicken, Rogan Josh, chicken tikka masala, bindhi masala, onion naan, aloo ghobi, all absolutely delicious!

There were only 4 people in the entire restaurant for dinner on a weeknight (including my party of two) so that should have been my first indication. The waiter brought me the wrong dish - he brought me what HE suggested, not what I ordered. I ate it anyway as I didn’t want to wait another 20 minutes for them to make another dish. It was fairly mediocre tasting. I hear the restaurant is under new management; I don’t know if that’s good or bad. I hope this isn’t the new and improved version.

Have become very disappointed with this place over the past few months. My family and I have been coming here one to two times a week. Usually sitting inside or taking to go. The last two times our orders have been wrong and or missing an item and portions seem much smaller. This last time we were missing an entree and we found a black hair in the food as soon as we opened the box. I have had less then friendly interactions w the staff when there to pick up food or sit inside. This last experience was our last time going here considering each time we order $100 dollars or more of food. It’s unfortunate. This was our go to place for many years and always looked forward to it. Will be shopping around for our next favorite Indian restaurant.

Went to Al Hamra today with a group of 8 and it was clean, spacious and had an amazing vibe. The food was to die for. We had the lamb dish, chicken Tikka masala, butter naan, ginger chicken and amazing samosas. The food was exquisite and the customer service was above and beyond. My favorite was their tea at the end of the night. It's a half milk and half tea combination and it was delicious. The owner made us feel so welcome and he was so hospitable. I will definitely be going back to support this business and highly recommend it.

We were traveling for business and we wanted some Indian food. We looked up this location and traveled to it. When we arrived, we were received with a warm welcome and shown to our seats. We then had a good discussion with the waiter. He recommended a few things and we took him at his word. It was all delicious. We had Lamb Makhani with a medium spice level and cilantro lime rice. We also had the Chicken Biryani with butter garlic naan bread. This is a place I would go back to again either on a business trip or for pleasure.

I may be too stuffed of delicious food to verbalize the deliciousness of the experience I just had. We think they may serve the best lentil soup we've ever had (3 peeps opinions), and it says it's organic! I can say that is the best garlic Naan I've ever had. Perfectly crispy, yet fluffy & thick, but still thin and nicely buttered with a reasonable amount of garlic. The rice was also perfect. The 3 entrées were completely devoured, and my friend said the lamb was cooked perfectly, and the chicken meat is all white meat. The service was great, and the establishment was very clean and classy. I look forward to returning.

We went here to try something different from the norm in Scottsdale. Everything is either Tex-mex, Italian, or a steak joint. Indian cuisine is a rarity. We are so glad that we did. The food was fantastic, and the service was, as well. However, the waiter was at our table too often. It was kinda weird. We were the only patrons in the restaurant when we got there. That typically worries me, but I'm glad that we stuck it out. The food was phenomenal. I'm not Indian, so I have no idea what is authentic and what is not. All I know is that I enjoy Indian food, and this place was good. The Tikka was spicy but not overpowering. You can order your spice level, which is typical. The only weird dish was the chicken kabob. It was kind of a mince meat. Funky. It's not my jam, but you may enjoy it. Everything else from the Tikka to the Naan to the lentils, the tofu was flavorful and seemed fresh. The wine list sucked, but not too many people are going to an Indian restaurant expecting an extraordinary wine list. Give it a try. You just might find that new favorite spot...

While we very much like their food, had a terrible experience this evening with customer service. Ordered directly through their website, upon arrival was told it had not registered and had to wait another 20 minutes for the food. So lesson to apparently use DoorDash instead of their website in the future. Would have been appropriate to be offered wine for the inconvenience, but they did not. Then about 6 min after driving away I received a call that “you forgot your naan.” Well, they forgot to give it to me, but that’s one way to phrase it. So went back and again nothing was done to make up for the inconvenience. Oh and to top it off, the food was not wrapped well so it leaked in the car.

I've eaten at over 100 Indian restaurants in the US, Europe, and Asia, including the top ranked restaurants in London, and Al Hamra N. Scottsdale is hands down the best of any I have visited. Their chicken makhani and lamb saag are amazing- just outstanding. I've never had a bad dish here. The only things I can fault are 1) the price is a bit high (though worth it) and 2) I'd like to see the owner be more social with patrons (I've seen him lurking around, but he never says hi). I've been coming here for 6+ years and ordered take-out and dined-in every day of the week over that time. They used to have two locations: this location and another at Shea and FLW. Many of the negative reviews are based on accidental orders at the wrong location, or the time it takes to make the food. Al Hamra closed the 2nd location on Shea during Covid, so there's now no confusion about location. Additionally, it takes time to make Indian food. Each dish is made fresh, cooked in an authentic Tandoor, which is where the "Tandoori" comes from in Chicken Tandoori. There is nowhere East of the 51 that does this. This provides authentic Indian. The shop has toned down the food to Americanised the food a little, but it's still amazing. It took me four year and 10's of horrendous experiences at other "Indian" restaurants to finally find a good restaurant. Al Hamra is the best you'll find in AZ. I live 1/2 a mile from the restaurant and ordered 100's of meals and never been disappointed. The negative reviews are based on the time it takes to make the food, or customers ordering from the wrong location. Something you can't blame the restaurant for. Each dish is prepared at the time you order, which guarantees freshness. This isn't a quick in-and-out restaurant like many places in the US. If you understand Indian food, you know that they add 10's of spices and time to make each custom dish/order. It takes 45 mins for a take-out to be ready, and 30 ish mins if ordering in. They're not trying to turn tables like many places, they put the quality of the food first, which is excellent. You can choose a spice level from 1-10. The dish size is perfect for one. My partner and I order 3 dishes and share and we still have a meal for one left afterwards. The food is just as good the next day. The reason the service might take a while is that each server often needs to explain what Indian food is for novices. The explanation of Indian food provided by Sarah is impeccable. The Korma, or Tikka is the way forward. The Naan bread is the best in town. If you dine in the Naan is second to none. Many Indian restaurants in town simply don't know how to make a good Naan. The restaurant is large and is never too crowded as many order take-out. You'll get very personalized serving. Just remember that each dish is prepared for you at the time of ordering, so it takes time to make. Don't listen to the stupid reviews of people complaining about the time it takes to make, they simply don't understand what makes Indian food great. Thursday night the owner is there and cooks which is the best day to go. Don't get me wrong the food is exceptional every day/night of the week, but even better Thursday. Enjoy, you won't be disappointed.

I do like this place. When I travel into town, and wherever I stay in the area, I find time to drive up to enjoy a dinner with them. The service has consistently been good, the restaurant is clean and cool. The food is really good. Chicken tikka masala, roti, raita, mango lassi....I usually order this and it's consistently good. The masala sauce has a fresh and balanced profile, and they always ask me for my spice level (1 to 10) and I find a 7 is about right for me. Just hot enough but not too much that I can't enjoy it. In the Phoenix area, I have yet to find Indian food that can compete with Al Hamra.

Absolutely the best Indian restaurant in the city! Make sure order spice level 1-10 … I had been calling it medium spicy from east coast terminology aka doing it wrong and the kitchen called me to make sure they had it correct. Finally Indian food spiced correctly (8-10 for me). So happy! Nowhere else is anywhere close taste-wise (chicken makhani is my favorite). And they are super nice people- I hope they get lots of business!! Other things we love and always order: chicken tikka, lamb saag, chicken makhani, biryani, naan, and really I can’t say we’ve had anything bad from here. Until Uber eats we would drive 50 minutes just to visit our old neighborhood and be able to get this food. So well worth the drive!

This restaurant is absolutely outstanding. We have gone there with friends at least once every other week for many months and service and food has always been impeccable. My husband and I were a little bit reluctant at first when our friends asked us to join them. I could not have been more pleasantly surprised. I now get cravings for the food at All Hamra. The couple we go with many times, the husband is Indian and he swears by this food. you have different levels of spice so there is a level of spice for everybody. For this Betsy person to write and give it a one star over a one time event is shameful. I highly recommend everybody judge for themselves because I'm pretty confident most of you that like this kind of food would think this is excellent. Of course there are those of you who look for reasons to find things wrong so a negative review can be written and that is fine, but I hope you also find decency to write positive reviews for all the restaurants that you do go to and not just always be on the bandwagon for negative reviews.
