This is my favorite Greek food in San Diego. Everything I've ever eaten here has been delicious, was very filling, and was reasonably priced. I absolutely love this place.

This place is an ABSOLUTE delight. Great quality, great prices, great staff. Highly recommend their chicken kabob plate that comes with soup and salad and plenty of protein and sides. Amazing experience

We stopped by for a quick lunch and it was such a treat! The food was delicious, big portions, came out very quickly and is super reasonably priced! We got two big gyros with fries and drinks for under $20. The owner was kind and provided a nice atmosphere. I am so happy we made this discovery, will definitely be back!

Great food! Quick, cheap, and delicious!

One star for the price and for the owner but the food itself was bland and not tasty. It seemed like they just microwaved some leftovers or used canned soup. I definitely wouldn't go back, sorry!

I found my new go to place for Greek food. Great food with large portions at a very reasonable price. It's a mom and pop type shop where the owners are running the show. Parking in the area can be a little challenging but well worth it. I will definitely be coming back here.

Great Greek food at a good price

What a great discovery! Lots of traditional Greek dishes and an amazing value. We had a party of 3 and ordered: Vegetarian sandwich and water and baklava for desert; #4 lunch combo platter and a soft drink; Vegetarian Moussaka platter and a soft drink. Each platter includes a starch option (fries or rice pilaf); salad and pita bread as well as tsatsiki sauce. The portions were generous, the salad was fresh and crispy. The tsatsiki was a little bland - but still tasty. I like tsatsiki with a little more tang of garlic and cucumber. The service was excellent and the food came out quickly. The interior of the restaurant is not heavily decorated and gives mom & pop vibes of an authentic Greek restaurant in the sense of focusing on the food and service rather than overloading you eyes with distractions. The server was to the point of taking your order and getting it into the kitchen - this could be misconstrued but he was very pleasant and accommodating. My serving was so filling I had a tiny bit to take home as a snack later. Now for the bill ❤️ for all that I've listed, our total with tax and before tip was not even $36!!! In San Diego, Hillcrest area - that's a bargain! We loved it and I'll go back for the pasticio!

Best bang for your buck Gyros I've had since moving to SD

Alexi's is incredible. The service is always great and the food is awesome. I could eat the gyro plate every day. In a world where every restaurant is raising prices like crazy, Alexi's keeps prices very low while continuing to raise the bar on value. Love this place.

Let me tell you this is probably the best place ever - very affordable prices ($9/$10 lunch/dinner set, inclusive of taxes!) and what a nice guy, lovely place, so glad I stopped by. Obviously, wonderful food as well!!

Love this place I have been coming here since 2000, I am happy it's lasted this long, the food is amazing, very authentic, super affordable and great Greek seasoning. I have yet to find a place in San Diego that can match here. They have lots and lots of awards, sometimes every year. I definitely recommend it. Right in the heart of Hillcrest it's got great staff clean bathrooms and a great view of the street with it's big glass windows. Anyone who's giving a bad review doesn't know what Greek food is. Go here it's fantastic!!! Super yummy! Thank you to the owner for always being speedy and giving me great food all these years!

Ordered via GrubHub. Their app needs updating. The combo plate does not state that it comes with salad and drink. I received a call from a cranky old man telling me to pick a different side. They are too busy to be calling me and that we should know what we are doing. Well, update your app! They drenched my sandwich in sauce instead of putting it on the side. It was gross and I had to scrape a lot of it off.

Underwhelmed by the food and the expectations. Ordered the appetizer platter, fries and the soup. The best thing was the feta cheese, everything else was bland with not much seasoning.

Great taste in all dishes, best food -value. My to go Greek. Get dinner or lunch for $12, and you have cup of soup,yummy salad and a main with rice or fries. I feel like they keep charging 2020 prices. Mousaka could have less potato.

Amazing!! Made my night :) The gyros are so unbelievably good (best I’ve had in years), the soup was amazing, prices fantastic, & our waitress was so kind! Definitely will be back when we are craving gyros!

I walked in this place today Nov 10, 2023, greeted by a man, seemed to be the owner attending tables too. I asked for a Greek taco, he immediately corrected me, said "this isn't a mexican place, they're called Pita Giros". I said ok. I'll have one to go. suddenly 2 men "Latinos" walked in, asking for a job, the owner told them in a very rude way, raised his arm, like if they were just cattle, he said "we don't hire people here, no no, go". both men left. I left & later called him, I told him how rude he was, treating people who are looking for work this way, after all he too is an migrant, who came in this country looking for a better life. He was just plain rude, I would NEVER AGAIN visit his cafe. the food was good, & it was prepared by a Mexican/Latino guy that I saw there. Just goes to show you how ignorant people can be.

Best Greek place in town! I've been going to Alexi's for about 5 years now. The portions are huge and the prices are extremely reasonable. Owner and staff are very friendly and hard working. Fast service too. The gyros plate is my go-to, and I usually have leftovers because of how much food you get!

Always go the distance to come to this place to get my Greek combo platter and gyro sandwich. Been coming since the mid 90s

*ATTENTION* OUTSTANDING!!! An absolute DIAMOND in the dirt. If you’re in SanDiego this is a MUST for Greek classics. Delicious food, perfect servings, very affordable. Baklava is to die for. My husband and I left with full and extremely happy bellies! Service was marvelous and friendly and super attentive! Will definitely come back as long as we’re here!

The food, service, and prices are excellent. It's not a huge menu, but they have many of the core Greek dishes you expect. We had the saganaki appetizer, and then the combination platter which has gyros and chicken souvlaki. It came with rice and tzatziki, and also a very nice Greek salad. The vegetables were very very fresh. I will definitely come back here and I did notice some local people who obviously come here all the time.

The falafel is the best in town, fried fresh to order piping hot! Great with some hot sauce. I also enjoy the Dolmades platter for some stuffed grape leaves covered in lemon sauce. The Saganaki, flaming cheese appetizer is like having a show included lol!

I've been going to the Greek Cafe since the early nineties. The food is outstanding and the prices are good. It reminds me of Greek Town in Chicago.

Got the falafel sandwich. Totally bland. Tarziki didn’t have a single cucumber in it. Tummy hurt after eating. Low prices low quality.

Cannot say enough good things about this place. I almost never write reviews but had to for Alexi's. We started eating here a few months ago per a friend's rec and it's now our absolute go to. Seriously, just go grab some food. The fact they have such solid vegetarian options as well is so amazing.

I’ve got few god given abilities but willpower is one of them. I once declared on the 31st December i would dry between *all* of my toes every morning the following year after showering AND KEPT IT. That being said, having stuffed my face 24/7 for 2 weeks straight i declared earlier today that “today marks the start of my xXx post holiday diet xXx”. 3hrs later I left Alexi’s having demolished the gyros sarnie lunch special along with a (completely unneeded, but 🤌) baklava - so read into that what you will. Or i can spell it out - THE FOOD IS EFFIN GREAT AND THE SERVICE IS TIP TOP.

We were starving and just randomly saw this place so we decided to give it a try. It’s not anything fancy just a little family hole in the wall place but the owner was so friendly. The food was so good! Everything was made fresh and homemade. The tzatziki sauce was amazing. It was probably the best Greek plate I’ve had. I would recommend the Mediterranean plate. It has the lamb, chicken and pita bread with soup and salad with it. It was a good price too!

Amazing meal with a great price!

Visited Alexi's Greek Cafe on three separate occasions during my visit to San Diego in late August. One of the best values around - plus the food is top notch!! Looking forward to returning here during my next visit to San Diego. Would very highly recommend.

What a special place. It feels like you can never find a deal anymore, but Alexi's proves that wrong. Not only are the portion sizes leaving you more than satisfied, but the food is fantastic. I ordered the gyro plate and kept being surprised with the variety of all the different items in the dish. Please try this place, as it is the easiest restaurant one could recommend.

Always a tasty, inexpensive meal.

My friend likes going here. I only really sit and watch him eat because technically none of it is really keto. Anyways, there's a guy named Jorge not George that works there. He's been working there FOREVER. His hair is grayed but he still has the same strong attitude. I have no idea if its an act or not. He has the attitude of an old modern Greek man. He does yell but I'm not sure he thinks he's doing anything wrong. Lol. My friend and I listen and laugh when he yells at customers. He is actually not mad at them, we believe. He actually speaks Spanish not Greek. He has worked there forever that the owners trust him to run the place in their absence.

The owners are very kind and offer excellent service with fresh and delicious food. The chef cares about his meal that he serves to you. This is a Mediterranean restaurant with grilled style. This guy makes excellent tzatziki sauce! You will not be disappointed. Reasonable prices as well. Great chicken! I will try more as hunger progresses.

This place blew me away. The food was phenomenal and the service might have been the fastest I've ever experienced for a sit down experience. In addition, my meal was *incredibly* affordable. If you haven't tried Alexi's Greek Cafe, do it!!

This place is amazing, a hidden gem. It has an old school vibe inside that feels homey and gives that kind of service as well. I came for a late lunch (didn’t realize it was their dinner menu already at 4pm) and was pleased to be served the gyro plate that came coursed, cup of delicious soup, a simple house salad, gyro meat, fries, pita, and the best tzatziki sauce; all for only $10. Service was on point, friendly and attentive; didn’t catch the guys name. I will definitely be coming back here! Thank you!

Excellent service and divine food!

Hidden gem located in Hillcrest. My family and I been coming here for years. The only Greek place with the largest portion of food I’ve come across. The owner is awesome, he memorizes every customers order without having to write it down that’s a plus in my book. Anyhow excellent service and food you want be disappointed be sure to try the lunch special Gyro sandwich with fries, salad and a drink under $10. You can’t beat it. This is a great spot for lunch, dinner dates or family in town.

Hidden gem of Hillcrest. From the outside it looks like a small hole in the wall location nestled between several top spot restaurants. The experience is a friendly helpful staff that goes the extra mile to ensure you have a great meal and dinner experience. This has a feel similar to SD taco shops but with Greek food. The food was excellent, prices were amazing especially for Hillcrest, and the feel is honestly family table. I could go here daily with out question.

Nice tasting pita, nice meat, and good fries too. Good prices, so overall excellent place for greek food. But the drink size in the set is laughably small.

Alexis is amazing. I would put it in my top 5 favorite restaurants in San Diego. Consistently quality food. I get the Mediterranean Dinner Special pretty much every time. You just can’t go wrong with it. They have upped their prices a bit but who hasn’t these days. You won’t find a better meal for $11 and some change. 5 stars, 2 thumbs up, 10/10!

We stumbled across this dining establishment after an appointment in downtown San Diego. After snagging a parking space nearby, we were seated quickly and attended to right away. We both ordered the #1 Lunch special - the Gyro Pita sandwich and we're glad we did! It came with a delicious generously sized salad and the gyro sandwich was perfectly prepared with just the right amount of tiziki sauce, onion and the rest. And the best part is that with the drinks, AND a piece of baklava to share, the bill was less than $20!!!!!. OMG! We will definitely be coming back to this gem in Hillcrest!

Been coming here since 1990. George is a 1 man army- server, cook, everything in his restaurant. Great price, servings are filling and great location for people watching.

The interesting thing about Alexis is that it doesn't look like much on the inside or outside, but the owner is very friendly and he makes really good moussaka. The pie crust was tender and Flaky and the spinach filling was very well made

Great little Greek restaurant in Hillcrest. The food is great, in large portions and there are lots of vegetarian dishes at very low prices. The gentleman running the place is kind and gave excellent service. It is a little difficult finding a place to park your car though.
