I was very impressed. I was coming from out of town and would be arriving 5 minutes before closing. Called to ask if they would still serve and was told of course. I ordered fish and chips. Fish was fresh. The owner came out and asked me if I was the one that called. He wanted to make sure that he didn't lock that person out (it was past closing time at this point). It was so thoughtful.

This post has absolutely nothing to do with the food, service or atmosphere. I was watching an episode of “The Partridge Family” entitled “A Knight in Shining Armor”. Shirley Partridge(Shirley Jones) was driving the bus down a street and it showed the bus going past a restaurant called “Alfie’s Fish and Chips” and when I looked it up on the internet one of the pictures that it shows on its website matches the restaurant that was in the episode, along with mountains in the background. It’s nice to see after all these years( this episode was from 1971) that places like this are still around.

Still the best! First time back in many years, and Alfies is still the best fish and chips in the area. Better than most that I’ve had in England! Fish is crispy and delicious, tartar sauce has the perfect amount of dill, hush puppies are sweet and crisp on the outside, soft and moist on the inside. Coleslaw is above average. Alfie is a winner that stands the test of time.

The hush puppy's are so good. If you bring your child, you should definitely get them some hush puppys. Workers are super friendly. 10/10 recommend

Alfie's Fish & Chips is a hidden jewel in Lompoc. Everything on the menu is delicious. The battered fish, hushpupies and fries to the fried twinky. They deep fry in peanut oil and it translates into great food. One of my favorites is the clam chowder. At times it's so thick your spoon will stand straight up, yum!!! Staff is always friendly and the owners Mike & Nellie are two of the nicest people who you will find working behind the counter. They also have a nice selections of beer if you want something different then soda & water. Alfie's atmosphere takes you back to tavern in London England right here in little Lompoc.

Great fish and chips. Cocktail sauce to die for. Tartar sauce on point. Loved the fried clams! Great spot for kids they give you crayons and a coloring page. Friendly staff.

on the positive side, the fish and chips were hot and fresh. too hot to eat. had to let them cool a bit. not complaining. on the negative side, the table was sticky. I've seen this comment in other reviews so it seems they either don't care or don't know how to clean them properly. wife got the clam chowder sourdough bowl and said she'd never eat it again. something in it turned her off. Caraway seeds? and the hush puppies and Cole slaw were awful. IF... we ever go back, I'll pass on those. we were first timers and the only thing we were told was we had to order before sitting. no one told us where the utensils were. I would have liked some ketchup for the fries but didn't see any.

When you walk in you get hit by the overwhelming odor of grease/oil hanging in the air. They need a better ventilation system. Got our order to go. No napkins, no forks for coleslaw, no ketchup for the unsalted fries. Batter had no flavor. Coleslaw no dressing. Husband who is from England for the first time ever, did not finish his fish. Fish was tastelessness. The only good thing were the homemade dog treats that we purchased on the side made of salmon I believe, my dog loved those so my dog gives a good review. To top it off there tons of batter pieces like dregs of greasy battered bits.Nope... Not coming back. Had to find a place to eat as the restaurant just smelled. Not worth the trip from Nipomo.

I’m sorry…. I paid 60 bucks for the family combo (5 pieces of fish, 21 or some odd number of shrimp, 5 chicken tenders) and you’re telling me I get 1 tarter and 1 ranch? Buuuut a 3 piece combo gets the same amount of Tartar sauce… lol I was reassured though I could buy extra for $2.50 LOL… I’m sorry I can tell you right now the math isn’t mathing AT ALL.

Super 💣! I drive into Lompoc just for Alfie's. It's so good. Started coming here in 1990 and the recipes are still the same..just as delicious as when I had my first bite. 😍

Alphies is a nice change from the standard food options in Lompoc. It's a bit heavily battered for my taste, but overall, it is a good meal.

Hadn't been here in years, it is not as good as it once was. Food was just OK. Table and chairs were sticky, I wonder what the kitchen looks like .

It's been a few years since I had been able to go to Alfie's and I often think of the yummiest fish and chips I had while living at Vandenberg AFB. There are no other Alfie's that I know of, but the closest I was able to get to them was H.Salt Fish and Chips and Long John Silvers in that order and they both closed all around my area. I just had to make a special trip to enjoy the yummiest fish and chips that I've always remembered... 😋

Best calamari I’ve ever eaten. Seriously. Nice and soft.

We thought they were shut down, but they only moved their location. Their new place is much larger, but their food is still as great as it was 11+ years ago! We were very greatful that their food is still very delicious.

I like the fish here, but it wasn't spectacular. But I really like fish and chips, so I will go here again for sure. The fish was nice and crispy, but it lacked seasoning. I like vinegar and tartar sauce, but I also want some seasoning in the batter, or even some salt. The chips (fries) are okay, but again, lacked seasoning. The hush puppies are quite good though - more on the sweet side and moist. The restaurant itself has a lot of character and you can watch sports and sit at the bar.

This place has a very tasty Fish and chips! Probably because it's fried in peanut oil. Everything is yummy here.

This place use to be really good about 10 years ago. The coleslaw was disgusting. The fish and chips were fresh, however I remember the hush puppies being a lot tastier. Would have been better if I didn’t get so many crumbs with my meal. Still probably one of the better fish and chips but still not worth writing home about.

Greasy with very little flavor.

Wow! I’ve been searching for fish and chips done right since the 80’s. I order it any chance I get hoping for success. Sorry Gordon Ramsay, but I even had it at your pub in Vegas and the batter was heavy and way too greasy. At Alfie’s I ordered fish and chips and fried vegetables. The batter on everything just melts in your mouth, not thick and greasy. The fish was light and delicate, not chewy. The chips were light and crunchy on the outside, and soft like mashed potatoes on the inside….so good! I was expecting the same old so so fish and chips when my husband suggested trying it, but boy was I surprised. Alfie’s, you have some new regulars! 😊

Some of the best fish n chips on the west coast every time I visit the central coast I have to stop by Lompoc to get alfie's fish n chips its a must visit!

Always been one of my favorite restaurants period best fish n chips on the west coast and when I travel near the central coast I have to stop in Lompoc for alfie's fish n chips and again they didn't disappoint! A must to visit!

It was fabulous, we live in Texas and we went to a Alfie's in Texas City, Texas that was there forever and it closed a year ago and we saw this on the map and we're out traveling on the west coast and it's right on our route heading north to San Francisco from the LA area. Exactly what we were hoping for and it was will be back one day when we're out this way

Alrighty then. Business brought me from the east coast to central coastal California today. Lompoc is the city I am in and I will tell you folks back in Florida, I flew here in 4:50 minutes from JAX to LAX and then it took me 5 hours to drive 148 miles. Not a wreck in sight. I am never going to complain again about a rubber necker back home again.😀 I Googled the best restaurants in Lompoc and Alfie’s is rated at 4.5⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ It should be 5 ⭐️’s First, you must have the fish, it will make you feel like your in old London or in New England and please take my word for it and try the “Cucumber Wasabi Coleslaw “ I’ve had coleslaw all over the country and their twist on it was remarkable. Hey, the Hush Puppies are a light corn meal with no onions and were excellent.👍 These folks are good cooks with some great recipes and super nice to the patrons. I’ve been here for 45 minutes and the customer service just absolutely flows. If they could bottle it they would be rich. Sincerely SteveTillman Jacksonville Fla❤️

We are embarrassed to say we've been in Lompoc forever and never tried this place. We were ever so pleasantly surprised, and can't wait to come back. Great family atmosphere, nice draft beer selection, and the food was piping hot, which is a huge plus! As a heads up, we didn't know that you need to order at the counter, but other than that, we will def be back for more.

Without a doubt the worst fish and chips I have ever had. I’m a bit baffled by the good reviews - could our dining experience really just be a complete anomaly? The fish was bland and the batter greasy. The chips were bland and soggy. The restaurant smelled of something decomposing and despite us being the only people eating, the waitress forget to bring us cutlery. The coleslaw tasted off and its color suggested it was past its best by date… Basically everything that could have been done right was not. A simple fish and chip dinner turned into a $65 waste of money with 4 still hungry people scratching their heads wondering what just happened.

Everything was delicious and fresh, one of my favorite side dishes is the pumpkin hush puppies. I highly recommend them before they stop for the season.

I love this place! I loved their old place, but their new place is just as good and the atmosphere is so much better! I highly recommend eating here if you are looking for delicious food and a family friendly atmosphere. I also just recently just saw a local band called DIRT play there. They have a live band once a month. Wonderful place!

We love stopping in at Alfie’s for fish and chips, or their rotating specials. Their fish is always perfectly fried, and their portions are generous. Their hush puppies are delicious, as are their seasonal specials. My favorites are their beef stew, and scotch eggs. Best of all, they have HP sauce (brown sauce) at the tables, and available in bottles. You can’t have proper fish and chips without it.

We were looking for a quick dinner and ran across this little gem. It was pretty quiet for a Monday night but I’m chalking that up to COVID. Our food was good and served hot. Not a lot of frills but I’d come back again. Seems like there were a lot of takeouts so I’m happy that the locals are still eating there. Neat place to eat.

The best Fish & chips I have had in years. Portions are perfect size and are served with a smile. Beers are served really cold. Definitely a place to come back to.

Very good flavor on their fish and chips, I really liked the batter. It seemed like a quite large portion, but unfortunately at least half of it the fish was cut very thin so it was over half batter. The coleslaw was very basic, tartar sauce had a surprising tang to it - a nice plus but could easily dominate if you used more than a touch.

It's OK. Average deep fried seafood served with steak fries, hush puppies made from corn bread mix, and average coleslaw at average prices. Overall, it just makes me miss Santa Barbara's late great Mac's Fish and Chips.

One of the absolute BEST restaurants in Lompoc! The food is always delicious and great quality but what keeps me coming back is the superb customer service. The manager is very professional and respectful to all his customers and takes pride in this establishment. All the other employees are very friendly as well! I had one order mix up once and they were very quick to fix it and were very sincere with the apology. Alphie's definitely cares more about its customers than any other restaurant I've visited in 20+ years. I highly recommend them!

Eat here about 4 years ago and it was wonderful. They remodeled and the place looks great. The fish & chips are better then I remembered and the Hushpuppies are mouth watering. Cole slaw is ok and I wish the chips were more crispy but we did a take out and they may have sogged up on the drive back to the hotel. Love this place

Good portion size. Caveat- took the food to go so didn’t eat it optimally when it was hot. The fish is very thin so eating just as much breading as fish. Pass on the cole slaw
