Bartenders were great! Quick to refill your drink, friendly and fun, even DJ'd on sound system at own cost (owner should consider offering staff free plays) to improve atmosphere. Would definitely go back.

The Alpha Bar is next door to Zorba’s Greek American Restaurant, so the owner has a doorway between his two establishments. You can order from Zorbas menu and have it served at the bar. We ordered tyropita to accompany our cocktails. An excellent choice! Our bartender was congenial, the atmosphere was pleasant, and we enjoyed stopping in for a nightcap.

We stopped in for an after dinner drink - we were clearly an inconvenience for the lady bartender (long brown hair, wearing black jeans and a dark greenish tank top). She was not friendly, not helpful, walked by our empty glass at least 3 times. One of the worst bartenders I’ve ever interacted with. Bar had great ambience and a diverse clientele- but this bartender made us regret our decision to stop in.

This was my second visit. The first was in December 2022 when I had a beer and the food came through from Zorba's. The food was very good. This time, I came after the kitchen was closed (9:00 p.m. on a weeknight before Memorial Day . . . it seemed reasonable that the kitchen would not be serving) and simply enjoyed a nightcap before walking to my lodging and calling it a night. I like this place since it is very welcoming and unique.

Your average neighborhood bar, friendly bar keeps, good cold beer , and cocktails. Neat old fireplace and bar, if you are hungry go ahead and order some great Greek food. As far as I'm concerned when a business has been around for 102 years, run by the same family you are doing something right.

A nice place to stop for a drink, food, or both. It has a very relaxed feel. We had the hummus and it was very good. We snacked, had a couple drinks, and relaxed for a while without ever feeling any pressure to move along. Will definitely be back.

Not only is this a great bar, but you can order Greek food from the restaurant next door. This is the best of both worlds.

Zorba's Restaurant was fully seated so I had to walk through the entrance in the wall to the adjoining bar "Alpha Bar" and eat at the bar. I had 2 servers a trainer and a trainee. I ordered canned soda along with the meal that came from Zorba's. I already reviewed the entrees from Zorba's, somewhat disappointing. The service, while cheerful was slow. This was a Monday night, makes me wonder what Friday and Saturday night is like! Midway through my meal I asked the server (Trainer) for a 2nd can of soda and she cheerfully responded "Sure! However, it didn't arrive until I was putting the last few bites in my mouth. I was an overnighter in Sault Ste Marie. I'm sure most of their traffic is transient. Both Alpha Bar and Zorba's need to raise their standards.

One of the best watering holes in the Soo! Best prices, / great service / and a restaurant ( Zorba's Greek / American ) attached. You can't beat it. Homey / fun and really close to the locks if you want to take a walk and see a boat / ship go through! Recommended!

Another great bar to go to if you're in the area. Close to the downtowner if bar hopping is your sort of thing. They have pool here and a nice big space to hangout.

If you'd like some really great Greek food, and sit in relaxing bar with a fireplace, this is the place for you. Bar, itself, was nothing to brag about, pretty normal. What makes this place a destination is the fact they are attached to a restaurant that serves some great food.

This place was happening on a Saturday night, staff was on it. Drinks were great and very reasonable.

We went for the first time in October,2017. we didn't eat but I believe it is connect to a Greek type restaurant. The food looked really good and the staff was friendly also. We will definitely go back and try this place out hopefully in March when the Soo locks open up again.

These drinks are quite a bit stronger than most other drinks in the area. Competitive pricing good atmosphere.

Its your average bar had a couple beers there $2.50 for a bud light the pizza was ok, good for passing through.

Undecided..it was hot out, no ac....flies in the bar, we were thinking of getting dinner served from next door, but the bar was dirty, then there were the flies...

Stopped in for a beer and had a nice conversation with the waitress / bartender. Service was great and the beer was cold. Food is available and is attached to restaurant next door that provides food for the bar.

My husband and I, to 50 year olds, were bar hopping in the Soo after dinner and stopped in the Alpha Bar for a beverage. Staff there couldn't be bothered - they walked by us three time and wouldn't even acknowledge our existance. Guess they didn't need our business. We walked out and went to another delightful bar in the City.

The alpha is owned by the same people as zorbas. I'm sure you get zorbas delicious food while at the alpha. Which is fine. But even better is you get Liz to wait on you! Yay for Liz. Drinks are good. Zorbas pizza is awesome.

Good, strong drinks and a nice, casual atmosphere. I prefer it during the week, as the Canadians can pack this place on the weekend....
