I walked in and ordered two regular Cubans and paid for them . Lady went back and made them almost right away. I was only there for a total of maybe six minutes. Young couple came in behind me, they phoned in an order and there’s were not ready yet. Just the one lady working Handling the phone and cash register thankfully she kept changing her gloves when she went back and forth to the food , this was at 10 after 12 lunchtime on a Wednesday. The decor is not very pretty the price for the two Cubans regular with onion and lettuce were 21 and some change.. the sandwiches itself was not the greatest. Did the traditional fold up the meat make it look big in the middle and hardly any at the end couldn’t taste the pork at all. It was just like eating a ham sandwich. I would give that about a three out of 10. Had to try it because it’s close by my house but don’t think I’ll be back.

Absolutely disgusting experience. Had to walk out without even eating. The older lady that took our cash was caught making and handling our food without ever washing her hands after handling physical money and touching everything. Everything inside was just dirty and looked like it was never cleaned. This place needs to be thoroughly inspected. It is gross

Although the staff member added onions, lettuce, and tomato as I requested, the tomato had an unsettling black spot. The sandwich was pressed for a mere 30 seconds, leaving the bread slightly warm but the interior disappointingly cold. I managed to eat half before the sight of the tomato made me discard the rest. I didn't initially plan to write this review, but after suffering from stomach ache and diarrhea, I felt compelled to share my experience. To the owner, my aim is not to harm your business but to encourage necessary improvements. Please consider the feedback from my review and others to enhance the quality of your service and food.

Could definitely use a remodel inside and it doesn’t look the best but the food is great and the service ok the lady seems to do it all herself in there but this is a true American dream in the flesh because its people providing for the people dont just look at the outside taste it and see

This is not real cuban food. Meat is not fresh and they do not use actual steak for steak sandwiches. Gave it a chance after not really liking how the inside was and I took a bite & threw the $15 sandwich away!

Mrs Li is the sweetest she really want you to have great exsperience place is old has not been updated she been in business for 25 yrs . I wish the community could get together and pitch in to update her lil place i watch so many locals come in and out and order her sandwhiches and they have kept her in business most months she keeps a float from her own purse just so she can keep it open.. loved learning this from Mrs. Li she is very deticated to the community. people who leave a bad review are people who do not care about small buisness owners or thier comminity. Run down dated interior soda machine wasn't working correctly. Wouldn't recommend the cuban sandwich isn't made correctly

I’ve never ordered food from somewhere and walked out immediately after. But today I did just that. This place is disgusting. Dirty from floor to wall. You can tell this place hasn’t been cleaned in years. The lady at the counter made the sandwiches with dirty gloves. The ice did work at the soda machine and they had insects fly out of the ice dispenser. I’m still a little confused on how a chines restaurant can be a Cuban sandwich shop. Please believe all the other reviews and do not eat here. I wasted $17 on a sandwich and drink just to simply walk out.

Figured we would give this place a try and get a cuban. Was not a fan. Bread itself tasted fresh and good but had very little meat. Pork was virtually non existent, like some kind of deli meat. Not fresh pork like I've had at many others. Price for the size of sandwich isn't bad, just the quality wasn't there. Probably wouldn't come back.

Restaurant name is very deceiving. By far the worst cuban and Spanish bean soup we've ever had. Cheap ingredients, barely anything on your sandwich, poor flavor. Definitely try someplace else!!

I lived in Tampa for 50 years before moving to Lakeland and was missing a good Cuban. My Hubs had one a few months ago and said was good. We tried together a few months ago and he adds veggies to his bit I prefer mine the old style meat, cheese, pickle mayo, mustard. Mine had little meat. My Hubs today talked me into giving a second chance...it was worse. The cheese and meats were 1 slice or less in most of the large sandwich thick. The pork was some sort of lunch meat and no pickles. It all tasted like cheap lunch meat what was there. This was the WORST example of any sandwich much less a cuban. DO NOT BUY A CUBAN THERE! We spent over $25 for 2 sandwiches. Never again.

I was really hoping to like this place. I should have known better when we walked in and it was messy and not very clean looking. Shared a cuban and stuffed potato with my husband. The bread was fresh and tasted good. Meat was sparse and they use chunky red onions which was a negative. The potato ball was microwaved but still tasted like old grease. The lady behind the counter wasn't very friendly. Unfortunately, this will be the last visit for us.

I do not recommend people coming here to eat. It is filthy. It looks like it doesn’t get clean daily and I ordered a Philly cheese steak and it was definitely not your Philly cheesesteak. It was made with American cheese. Don’t come here to eat read the reviews before eating here!

Lee was the star of my experience at this restaurant. I had recently moved up to the Northside back in August and I always do laundry next door and I always walk by the restaurant so today I finally had the chance to experience it. Some of the previous reviews are very harsh about the interior. Yes it is dated but that is what adds to the experience. It made me feel at home. Lee talked with me the entire time she was making my food and was a breath of fresh air. She has been running the business on her own for a very long time. She's been at this location for 25 years and for the last 3 she's been working there alone. So to those who are complaining about the upkeep and how things are dusty and what not, you have to understand that she is the soul to the business and it's only employee. She does what she can to keep the doors open. What she needs is the support of locals and for us to show love. The food was great and the menu has me excited to see what's next. All bigger chain restaurants around her are taking over her clientele and I understand how harsh that is as a small business owner. I give her food a 10/10 because it gave me nostalgia while I was eating and her service a 10/10 for being so hospitable and kind. The restaurant could use some love but it's nothing that we the people can't handle. I will be recommending everyone I know to eat a Lee's restaurant and I encourage all the prior reviewer to give her a second chance and understand her position. If you were in the same shoes as her your eyes would be wide open. Thank you so much Lee I greatly appreciate the experience you gave me and I will be looking forward to seeing you soon. P.s. I have seen this place many times as I've pulled out of Aldi, so I finally stopped in and asked the lady behind the counter why it was America's Best Cuban Sandwich. She's not Cuban, but rather, Asian, but said she's owned the place and worked there for 25 years. I figured she must be doing something right, so I ordered the small Cuban with Mustard, Mayo, Lettuce, Tomato and Red Onion. She pressed it well for a couple of minutes and I was on my way home. This is not a place you probably want to eat in - it's worn out, as many reviews have stated. I can see many things are broken down as well, and frankly, I feel bad for her. Even so, I was there for the Cuban, so on to that. I brought it home and my wife and I shared it (even the small was 8" long, and cut in 1/2 on the diagonal). I had no idea what to expect, but it was actually really good. The bread was fresh, and from the pressing was crunchy on the outside and soft in the middle. The meats were fresh and tasty - it was a really good sandwich. For $10, it was a good deal. I know many have reviewed this place and had a terrible experience, but I can honestly say that mine was a good one. Based on this review and others, you can take your own chances, and just know that your mileage may vary.

Save yourself the disappointment. They must be surviving off lack of competition in the area. The sandwich was not good and the lady didn't even know how to fix the soda machine. Since she couldn't fix it she gave me a room temperature water bottle. All the other negative reviews are accurate.

First of all when I walked in the place the guy behind the counter was Asian, and obviously not Cuban. So I didn't have high hopes but I thought I'd give it a shot anyway. The guy asked if I wanted lettuce and tomato and I thought "what the?1?" and said no thanks! Then I thought about it and figured the heat wouldn't bother the tomato so I got a Cuban with the tomato as well. Wow, it was the best Cuban I've ever had! Also the regular size is very large. Best to share it, but honestly it was so good I could have eaten the whole thing myself! I got black beans and rice with it, which was a huge takeout carton large enough for more than 2 people and there were several pieces of bread with it. I will be back to this little place! Don't let appearances fool you, this deli serves up some righteous Cuban food!

This morning our business had a woman walk-in to present us with menus for her cuban cafe. After reviewing the menu we thought that we would take a chance and order from her location. We placed a large order and went to pick up the food. We were greeted by the same woman who dropped the documents off at our office earlier that day. She was very kind and was the only one working that we were able to see. We collected our lunch after waiting a short period of time and headed back to the office. Myself and another co-worker had finished our lunch and were upfront when another team member came up to make us aware that she had found a cooked roach in her black beans and rice. Not believing her I walked back to our break area to examine the contents of her food for myself. I have attached a photo below so you can see for yourself that indeed there was a cooked german roach in her food. I can assure you that this bug was inside the food, and did not come from our location or some other outside source. I immediately placed a call to the owner to tell her about what we had found in our food and also to demand a refund for our meal due to none of us feeling comfortable eating anything that came from this place. The owner has very apologetic and kept asking me over and over again if I was sure about what I had found. We decided that we should take the box containing the food and our new found friend back up to the shop to show the owner so we could effectively come to a resolution about our refund. When I arrived back at the location there were people eating in the front of the house so the owner waved me to the back kitchen. She then proceeded to open the box, reach in with bare hands, and pick out the roach! She rolled it between her fingers like you would a booger, pardon my expression, and flicked it back onto her kitchen floor. She then told me "Oh yes, I have problem with these in my dry pantry. I need to spray." I am and was absolutely mortified. She tried relentlessly to give me more food in placement of my cash, to which I was not going to agree. I ended up collecting my refund and leaving as fast as my legs could carry me out. I will never revisit this location or order food from here again. I will also be filing a complaint with the health department.
