This vegetarian Korean restaurant is a hidden gem! The vegetarian dumplings were delicious, with a perfect mix of flavors. I also loved the healing soup - so comforting and energizing. The tofu and strawberry juice was surprisingly delicious too ♥️ Highly recommend for a unique and satisfying experience!

I didn't really enjoy the food. It seems pretty focused on a particular oil-free diet, didn't agree with me. Even though I'm vegan, I didn't love it honestly. Seems like this place has a strong following, so I'd still check it out if you're reading this review: but I don't think it's nearly the best vegan spot in Chicago.

Amazing healthy vegan food. Dined in with three carnivores and everyone was pleased with everything. Large portions and flavorful dishes. You can tell that everything there is made fresh, from the dumplings to the sauces.

Amitabul Simply Vegan is an awesome establishment. All the korean cusuines were of fine quality, well presented, and the ingredients were fresh. The entire menu is vegetarian and vegan friendly with a variety of cuisines to choose from. This establishment is highly recommended to vegetarian and vegan communities.

Amazing gem in this neighborhood, very niche cuisine and vibe. Always a hit - I’ve been eating here for years. The food is delicious, nutritious and filling. My GI system thanks me every time I eat here. I’m full of energy for at least 24-48 hours after. All their food is a hit, my go to: wolfmans treat, date tea and green smoothie. My husband and I almost bought a house nearby and a perk in our mind was we could eat at Amitabul often. It’s such a unique restaurant and very healthy (I’m in healthcare so this means so much to me). Also, the prices for the quantity and quality of food are amazing! You can’t afford NOT to eat here. Cheaper than noodles and company but better value and fresh ingredients. It’s 2024 and inflation hit prices high, how I’m able to get two full (huge) meals with colorful and delicious veggies along with drinks and sometimes desert for the price we get- is beyond me. Thank you Amitabul team, you’re an amazing staple in Norwood park and in our family’s restaurant repertoire!

We were on a trip to Chicago; nothing could be better than getting delicious Vegan food. One thing we missed out to mention spice level.

Veggies are very bad quality, plus the owner was very rude he would not stop staring at my family like he was trying to intimidate them which is weird , plus the food tasted weird.

Wonderful gem, consciousness expanding, yummy food. I had the “Dark Side of the Moon” with oyster and shiitake mushrooms, veggies, and wheat noodles and “aged Chef Bill’s black bean miso” sauce. Wow, fantastic flavors and textures. I hope to return someday!

Outstanding!! Very nutritious, flavorful, and makes you feel terrific. I really want to know what is in the Tofu Young Patties because they are so good and I’m curious. I’m also so curious about the miso and plum sauce recipes. I’ve ordered takeout from here so many times and they are consistently delicious, fresh, and always has the feel of nurturing food. I recommend the Spicy Kimchi or Mushroom Bi Bim Bap, Original Tofu Young Patties, the Spicy Stews, Hello Dolly and Bill, Buddha’s 3 Luck, and their sushi apps.

This place has a very pleasant environment. The food is hot (temp) when you get it and the dish I ate had lots of veggies. All vegan, you don't have to worry about what you are eating unless it's spicy. Lol They have wheat or rice noodles. I will go back to eat.

I have been coming to Amitabul for years now, and every person I've ever brought there has absolutely loved it. Beyond the great food, the vibrational energy of this place is so incredibly peaceful and grounding. The food is so healthy but also flavorful and gives you that "feel good" feeling on the inside. I just bought a jar of the kimchi they have for sale and it was hands-down the best kimchi I've ever had. I've been making kimchi jiggae with it all week, and it is what inspired me to finally leave a review for one of my favorite restaurants in Chicago.

Came with my Vegetarian Aunt for lunch. I'm not well schooled in vegan cooking. Tried the entree The Dark Side of the Moon which has 2 kinds of mushrooms and lots of veggies over rice noodles with a black bean miso sauce. And YUM!! Loved it! Will take her back there and try more of the menu.

This place was awesome! I didn't have to worry about fish ingredients a lot of Asian restraunts use, and they had gluten-free options as well! Consider rounding down your spice level if you aren't sure, because I got medium and wow! 🥵 So good, though. The atmosphere is so peaceful.

After moving away from Chicago, this is the restaurant I miss the most. I used to go here a lot when I lived in the city! Chef Bill is so friendly and kind, and the food and atmosphere are amazing. Healing food for the mind, body, and soul for sure! Your vibration is raised as soon as you pull up to this sacred restaurant. In need of healing I had to come to this restaurant. My first choice is all RAW foods pulled straight from the trees and ground and straight into my body as it’s in its purest and natural form and that is what these energetic bodies need. Food: Jade Maki Sushi Rolls was good. Lacked flavor. I am someone who enjoys herbs and seasonings on food to wake up everything and then it will be a dance party in my body. Seaweed and Spinach soup was a delight and very tasty. Mung bean pancakes had no flavor at all. I did enjoy the fact that it made my body feel really good and comforted. The Wolf’s Dream entree was ok. I’m learning although I love flavors in a massive way I’m more so concerned that my energetic body absorbs as many nutrients as possible and this restaurant makes sure of that by not serving you any toxic items. Most if not all is body safe. Drink Ginger Energy Tea was delight. Very generous portions. Affordable prices. Street Parking. You get a discount if you pay with cash. There’s a 3% processing fee with credit/debit cards. Customer service can use some help but overall it was a joyous and magnificent experience. Wholeness and Infinite Love To All! After years of wanting to try amitabul I finally made it on this Chicago trip. The atmosphere was fantastic, very calm and clean. The food was delicious, I had the kimchi tofu stir noodle. The service was excellent. Thank you amitabul, I hope to be back soon!

Visited for dinner for my first time a few weeks ago. Had the De. K’s Cure All soup, kimchi pancakes and dumplings. Recommend 10/10 and can’t wait to return.

The food here is incredibly tasty and healthy. The teas and shakes are phenomenal and the service is always welcoming and fantastic. Do yourself a favor and check it out. Also Be sure get those special cayenne pepper sauce it’s soooo good.

It's like walking into a temple dedicated to the health of the body. No meat, no sugar and yet the food was amazingly tasty and unique. This place takes the serving of food to a guest seriously. We wanted to go somewhere differently for our 50th anniversary. We will be going back regularly from now on. It's a privilege to eat here.

We ordered kimchi pancakes, bibim bop, mandu and soup. The total bill was 55$. Pancakes with sauce and soup was good. Mandu was not that good dry and hard. Bibimbop tastes okay, but was missing eggs and sauce and vegetables. Ambiance was nice, but background music in the first half was annoying. It was good for a one time visit.

I avoid eating ramen because I get severe packet powder reactions (heavy MSG and the flavor + preservative chemicals). After eating the "delicious" food here, I get the exact same bad reactions as I do with ramen! Could this restaurant be using the same kinds of powder packets as the ramen kits? Most likely. I was very excited to try the food here and it didn't disappoint! My fiancée who is picky with vegetables liked his entree which made me happy! I got the kimchi tofu patties and they were delicious but I do think the texture was a bit off-putting at first (tofu is quite soft but mixed with lightly cooked vegetables) and I did not care for the sauce. We shared the dumpling appetizer and red bean small cake and ginger apple juice which were all delightful.
