Ordered 8 dozen cupcakes for my sisters baby shower and picked 7 favors! THEY WERE INCREDIBLE! So, not only did they look stunning, but they tasted unbelievable! Would recommend for any occasion and the prices are extremely reasonable.

A lot of options, some are good, but some are just not worth it. The vibe and interior are great, though.

Their cake pricing is shady and expensive. I asked for the initial cost of the smallest cake they had, which they said was 7 inches by 3 inches (height). Then I asked what it would be like with a very simple design (sent a photo with a design that literally would have taken less than 60 seconds using a spatula and cake turntable) and received one email saying it was an additional $15 then shortly after (within minutes) received a second email saying it would be an additional $25 and then they tried to say it would be even more than $25 to add height to the cake which I did not ask for... Then I asked what the original price included and they told me if I wanted the design to the original price it was $25, just randomly raising the initial quote for the exact same thing by $10. Overall, the cost of the little cake would have been more expensive than my wedding cake, and I think that's saying something about this bakery. Also, I asked for a dairy free cake and I'm SO glad I didn't order from here after reading other reviews. I'm highly allergic to whey, a protein in dairy, (and have epipens for it) and based on other reviews, it looks like they use whey in their dairy free cakes.

The customer service is terrible. They need someone else other than the mean woman in charge. I feel bad for the whole staff who has to work with her she must make it super unpleasant. We used to go every week but with the witch Mrs. Trunchbull being there she was the crankiest most unfriendly person I’ve ever encountered. Wouldnt even let my daughter look at the bakers through the window. The bakers are amazing though and we love them. Please advise and reassess who you want to be in charge of your bakery. This woman has ruined it for me as a frequent costumer. I will not be back. Also she is greasy, messy and unkempt making the beautiful goodies unappealing. Such a shame.

I needed to order two blueberry pies to be delivered to a restaurant in One Loudon for a graduation party, Donna was so extremely helpful and understanding. She made our graduation party a complete success for our family. Thank you for the wonderful customer service!!!!

Got cookies, a cookie decorating kit for Easter, and sweets for a party.

We needed a coconut cream pie at the last minute for a party. They were out, but Debbie called us back and said she could take a pie from an order for the next day and make the replacement pie that night. The pie was delicious and the customer service added to the sweetness of the experience!

Charming decor, great pastries, fair prices

Overall, good quality, above average customer service ( but not impressive). Price? Higher than grocery store bakeries, almost twice. But, I don't like to buy cakes from Giants, Safeway, or Harris Teeters ( except Whole Foods, which are good), I don't like their style and taste, so to me, it is worth the extra price. They have several types of cookies, cakes, pastries, macaroons, and baklava. Besides, they have frozen-style cakes, ice cream, cold soft drinks, and coffee. Service? Not fast. There are a few tables inside to sit and eat. For the cakes, If you want a cake for a special occasion, I recommend ordering it at least 10 days in advance, unless you choose something from their typical daily basis. Parking? Not good, especially around noon or evening time.

Our favorite bakery! They always have delicious cookies, cupcakes, cake pops, macaroons and other treats. Someone took a bite of the crab before I could snap a picture 😊. The staff are very friendly and it’s a popular spot.

I ordered a custom cake and they were very bad with communication and didn’t ask any questions until the night before I needed this cake done. Terrible service

I ordered a cake, cupcakes and scones for a Bridal shower. The cake was gorgeous and absolutely delicious. The cupcakes were equally beautiful and delicious. The scones were the best I have had. I was so pleased with everything and everyone raved about the cake design. It was exquisite. Thank you so much!

I had an amaZing & smooth experience with the entire Birthday cake ordering process. I ordered online, sent them 4 pics and although it was short notice,(48 hrs prior) they went above n beyond to prepare my cake exactly how I envisioned & in a timely manner. They communicated with me durin the entire process and were professional, friendly and helpful. Will definitely come back for later events.

We've been purchasing baked goods from the Amphora Bakery for the past 3 years. Their baked goods are top quality and their face to face customer service is wonderful. Once an order is placed, there is no doubt that the item will be ready for pickup as promised. We love the Amphora Bakery and recommend it to anyone who is looking for high quality baked goods.

It is nice to have a local bakery. have bought a couple of cakes from there. Few things; they charge $3 to write Happy birthday on a $40 cake?!?! I swear the BD cards they showcase are from dollar stores, I have noticed it many times. They are selling it for $5 upwards. Lastly, I wanted to order my daughter's first BD cake from them, nothing extragavent, nothing out of the ordinary. just round cake with icing and I was going to put butterflies and flowers on it myself. My husband and I went 2 months in advance, were told to email and go online. Did that, emailed and all and nothing was ordered until 1 month was left, went to the store to place the order again, and were told to go back online and email. Emailed the confirmation cake and was told they are no longer taking orders due to it being a graduation week. I do get that it took me some time to finalize, and that they were very booked. But it was a SIMPLE ROUND CAKE... Now I drive an hour away to a bakery that took care of our last minute request and provided a huge cake for quarter of the price and it was DELICIOUS.

Elicia did an amazing job on our wedding cake! She was so easy to work with, she customized the cake exactly how we asked, and she helped make our special day even more special. The cake was also super delicious and everyone loved it! I highly recommend hiring her to make your wedding cake!

When I looked at it from outside the store, it didn't look much different from a normal bakery, but the moment I went inside, the atmosphere of the store caught my eye! I couldn't take my eyes off the various cake samples and cookies, especially the kitchen behind the store. The spacious kitchen and the staff working on cookies in it gave me a more fresh feeling.

Order a Rose Cross dolce lechee 10"cake for my wife's birthday and shand e was very please but the cake turned out perfect and delicious. From now on I will order specialty events cakes and desserts from Amphora. Thanks for making her birthday perfect.

We bought the cake for celebrating Birthday. It was looking very beautiful. But we were a little disappointed with what was inside. The biscuits were very dry, without any impregnation. The cream was good but not really Bavarian. We just threw half of the biscuits. The shopping experience was okay. The shop has NO pictures of what is inside the cakes! That is very inconvenient. They have just descriptions which doesn't give you a "full picture". Packing was good. I can't recommend this particular cake. But there are some good ones especially one of the chocolate cakes we liked.

This is the best bakery in town and very reasonably priced. Most pastries are under $3 and huge. My favorite is the football sized croissant. I love taking a box to the office, it makes everyone's day. They also have mini cakes which I like getting for celebrations because everyone can get their favorite flavor instead of one big cake that can get messy.

It is a beautiful shop. A huge space, with a lot of options. The staff seems pretty friendly and helpful. I've ordered from here three times because they are very convenient in location to my apartment. We ordered several pies for Thanksgiving and several birthday cakes on two different occasions. I do NOT recommend this place. Quality is poor and prices are outrageous, for the quality. I am willing to spend a lot of money on a quality birthday cake. But unfortunately, a box of cake mix is better quality than what Amphora Bakery puts out somehow, in flavor and moisture. The pies we ordered for Thanksgiving were pretty terrible. One had a crumble top that was quite tasteless and dry. The filling was okay, but super tart, not sweet at all to help balance the tart it was quite strange (it was a berry-filled pie). The pumpkin was actually okay in flavor and texture, but the crust was tasteless and dry, and for a really pricey pie I expect a delicious crust with good texture. The cakes we have ordered have been consistent, tasteless, too sugary, dry, and overpriced. Not moist. Not flavorful. Way too sweet, but with no flavor. It's like having sugar with a sponge that is also tasteless and dry. And on top, super pricey! We decided to never go back. We wanted to give them a good try because of the convenience in location to where we live. But it is definitely worth going a bit further in distance to another bakery, to get better quality products.

Went there on Friday 5/19. I talked to the STAFF about ordering a cake. I had call earlier in the week and they said i needed to order the cake by Friday. I went there they were very rude we stood there for at least 15 minutes before being told they could not help us. This is the worst services I have seen in the last 20 years. I recommend go to Safeway at least they treat you with respect.

I ordered an almond milk latte and clearly stated that I cannot have any dairy. I am extremely allergic to milk and as soon as I finished my drink, I immediately became violently ill. My latte was apparently made with a prepackaged powder in which the first ingredient is milk powder. When I called to ask them to read the package to see if there was milk in it and was told there was, I was only offered a nonchalant apology and told that this is the first time anyone has ever complained about this in 11 years. You've been serving people milk in their non-dairy beverages for 11 years? Seriously?

I visited this place to order birthday cake. First of all staff was very rude. They were not even willing to listen anything. I just wanted to preorder cake but manager and staff responded that they were very busy and I need to go online and order whatever I need. I told them already I did go online and try to order but I have some questions. That’s why I come physically here. Zero respect for customers. The way they conveyed this message was very rude Unprofessional and racially biased one. I hope people take notice of this before visiting this place.

Wow, I have only positive things to say about this bakery. The employees are ridiculously kind and their pies are perfection. If you are a fan of key lime pie, it is a MUST buy from Amphora. They are absolutely amazing!!

Amphora did a fantastic job on my son’s birthday cake. Everyone at the birthday party asked where it came from and it was very special having a custom cake with all the little animals he likes. Not only did it look amazing but it tasted fantastic as well. They said it would serve about 30 people so I ordered 8 matching cupcakes that had the same colored frosting and flavor so there would be enough cake for everyone. Can’t recommend this bakery enough!

Ordered two custom cakes from Amphora for a work event, and they blew us all away! Truly delicious, and Amphora made the whole process from ordering to pickup smooth and easy (to include my shorter timeline and request for changes!). Will definitely order again — I’m already craving more of the salted caramel buttercream filling :)

Terrible customer service. I walked in today to purchase a couple of items and told the older lady that I wanted to place an order for next week. Her response, place my order online because on the weekends they are extremely busy and no longer taking in person orders. There were a couple of people being waited on in front of me and no one behind me. I didn’t respond and she continues to explain why she couldn’t take my order. I responded that I wasn’t arguing or disputing their policies and will take my business elsewhere. This isn’t the first time that I’ve felt like she has been rude and could use Customer Service .training .

These guys are God sent, not only are their cakes amazing but their service ❤️❤️not enough words to describe how they will go above and beyond to get you the best. Thank you guys

I ordered a custom cake from Amphora last month and it exceeded my expectations. The cake was for a special birthday and I was keen for it to be perfect. Kylie was patient and thoughtful answering all of my questions and understood exactly what I was looking for. The team did a fantastic job and the cake turned out beautifully and most importantly tasted amazing. If you're on the fence about ordering a custom cake, just do it you won't regret it!

Amphora Bakery is my favorite bakery in the area. Their cakes and pies are amazing. They are beautifully and decorated with perfection. The only time I see slight imperfections is when the strawberries are not in season. As a result, the strawberries are not bright red and perfectly shaped. They sell cookies, cupcakes, individual smaller slices of cakes, whole cakes, pastries, custom cakes, etc... Their cannollis are delicious, too. Customer service is excellent. I wanted a cake that they regularly have available, and I called the day before and they reserved it for me to pick up the next day. Because this bakery location was closed that day, I was able to conveniently pick it up at the Amphora Deluxe Diner down the street, which opens 24/7. Their cake prices range from around $30 or more. The individual pieces of cake are about $4 -5 each. If you are price sensitive, don't be afraid to ask, because there are no prices displayed by the cakes.

I have been buying cakes from Amphora for the past 15 years. All of my kids birthdays, special occasions, regular cakes, novelty cakes, you name it. I am yet to find another bakery that can beat the quality and creativity. The price point is not for everyone and I agree there are other choices out there but you get what you pay for. Secondly, the level of service has always been good (a few exceptions here and there but businesses have humans so can't always expect perfection) but the fact this place has always been consistent in quality, says a lot. I have been a loyal customer and will continue to remain one. Thanks for being part of our most precious memories.

I have relied on Amphora and its phenomenally talented artisans to make specialized cakes for me for all holidays while I lived in VA...they are amazingly talented!! They worked with me in every detail, from cake size and shape, how many people it would feed, colors, flavors, and personalized themes and creations!! Every detail was exact and true to their craftsmanship and word. This cake pictured below is just one of the many personalized creations they made for me. This bakery is hands down the best I have ever dealt with so far. No matter what occasion, how many guests, theme or budget they are willing to work with you and go above and beyond! I am moving out of state but they have made my years here memorable, and I will miss each and everyone one of them and the amazing creations they did for me!

Amphora had a great selection of ready cakes, and the employee was super helpful and patient with me ... I had lots of questions and was a bit undecided, so I appreciated her waiting on me. I'm sure it tastes great, too. Will know tomorrow 😁 Second cake from Amphora. Love this place.

AVOID THIS PLACE. My mom was trying to place a cake order for my baby shower. The bakery first tells her a certain size will accommodate serving 50 people (We have 40 to serve at the shower) that size being 5” height and 10” diameter. We realize that size defiantly wouldn’t serve 50 people or even the 40 guest we will be having. My mother reaches out to them again asking to make the size to 12 or 14 inch. They reply back saying those sizes will serve 30 people. Therefore they completely told us the wrong serving size to get and my mom had almost placed the order. If my Husband and I never had told her to double check with them about the size then we would have gotten a cake that wouldn’t have been able to serve everyone. Other than that issue their pricing is insane!!! They tried to charge us 500 for a two tier cake that just needed piped flowers and little baby shoes on top. We will never be going back here and will make sure to share this with the northern Virginia foodies group on fb group , friends and family so that they don’t get scammed on false information and these crazy prices.

They lied about sizing and how many people it can serve. They said a 10” would serve 40-50 people and when we called and spoke to someone else they said a 12” was good for 30 people. Their cakes have gone south in both presentation and taste.

My son saw the beautiful animal frosting cookies and wanted some so we bought 4. And they were TERRIBLE!! I am absolutely shocked as how you consider this edible?!? It’s as hard as a hockey puck. Each cookie is like $5 all in the trash super super disappointed. Not to mention they even had the stale taste from what crumbs we managed to bite off.

Ordered a lemon coconut cake for my husband's birthday. It was beautiful and delicious! All of our friends were raving about it. Even the ones who don't like lemon or coconut enjoyed it because the flavors aren't overpowering and the cake is light and refreshing. Customer service throughout the process was excellent and my cake was ready right on time, as expected. I would definitely order from here again.

The baklava is amazing. Best I've had.

For our wedding, my husband and I were looking for something different than a standard cake. We called Amphora and took advantage of their mini dessert concepts in order to create a "dessert table" which turned out absolutely amazing!! The mini-cheesecakes, pies and canolis were a huge hit and our guests are still raving about the fruit tarts! The customer service was also top notch with constant communication in order to ensure everything ran as smooth as possible the day of!

The cake was amazing!! The decorations were perfect and it tasted amazing. I'll be ordering cake here quite often.

I made an order for a bridal shower. They had a variety of options that fit the theme. Sent me pictures over email. There was a minor miscommunication about part of the order. I was impressed with the professionalism of the staff, and their willingness to work with me to find a solution. The bride was impressed with the dessert designs, taste and the attention to details. Would definitely order again from them.

We just tried this bakery for the first time for a chocolate birthday cake. It was wonderful!

They made a Millennium Falcon cake for my mom's 50th birthday. She loved it when she saw it at the party (could hear her squeal of joy outside). Cake tasted delicious too.

We didn’t even look at another bakery for our wedding cake because we love Amphora, and that was the right call! We got a small cake to cut and a large sheet cake with the vanilla cake with vanilla frosting and forest berry preserves, topped with blue sugar hydrangea petals. It was a hit! We loved it and got so many compliments from our guests! We highly recommend.

Was hoping to find a go-to bakery a bit closer to home - even one in a downtrodden industrial park (what gives Herndon?) getting a lot of attention on social media. Picked up one of their basic cakes to try. It was good, but not great (possibly spent a day to long on the shelf). Heidelberg Pastry Shoppe will still have my NoVA business.

Best red velvet cake I ever had. 3 layers of cake with buttercream icing on the outside and cream cheese frosting between the layers. Also got some writing and a drawing on the cake. The writing was $2.50 and the drawing of the cat was $12! $12!!!!!! Drawing is way overpriced!

Ordered a cake online for my wife and paid via paypal (Im currently overseas). Communication was fine, but could definitely improve - were not clear about pick up times or completion of the cake. Base price is ok, but the effort put into drawing was lacking. Either lacking or should be cheaper than $12, writing on the other hand was good for $2.5

The chocolate-filled croissant was AMAZING. Light, fluffy but packed with so much yummy flavor. Reminded me of the ones I had growing up in Spain. Have yet to try to coffee -- will do so next time. The indoor seating area is very nice and has ample space. Customers can even peek at the giant bakery "factory" in the back -- very cool. Plenty of free parking. Can't beat it. DEFINITELY coming back for more.

I was going to Whole Foods and I searched cakes near me and Thanks to Google that I found Amphora Bakery. It was my first experience and surely will not be the last. Cake was super good and everyone enjoyed. Though there is a need in improving customer service. Someone should pay attention when there are 3 people in the bakery. More importantly we loved your cake.

The Amphora did an amazing job with our cake. Elicia was incredible helpful throughout the process. The cake tasting was fun and easy. When it was time to come up with a design the Amphora wanted to make sure they got the design perfectly and double checked with us. When COVID hit they were incredibly accommodating and made the transition to our new date seamlessly. The few weeks leading up to wedding Elicia was on top of everything to make sure everything was correct. When we saw our cake it was everything we wanted. Everyone raved about the design!! And it tasted GREAT!! We are so happy with everything. Thank you Amphora!!!

The cakes here are so good, I wouldn't get my cakes anywhere else. Fan favorite for sure! Their communication could be a tad better though. I've ordered from them twice and both times they would sometimes not respond, or the order would be slightly wrong. They fixed it every time, just something they could work on.

Worst customer service! This is my second time supposed to be ordering cakes from them . They are just giving me a run around each time I follow up with them when I don't hear from them when they say they will call. I ordered a cake and paid for it but then after 2 hrs realized that instead of ordering 1 big cake ,have two instead of the smaller sizes. They kept telling me someone will call me or she will call me but nobody did so I call them again and they said the same thing. Someone will call me in the morning the following day.I waited again the whole day but nobody did. I called them back, and they promised me the same thing. I waited and waited but they never did. So frustrated with how these people conduct their business. Never again!

Since I was a kid we have used Amphora for birthday cakes and any other special occasion event. Elicia at the Herndon location was super helpful at our tasting and at helping us decide on a design for our wedding cake. The cake ended up being beautiful and delicious! I am so glad we went with Amphora for our special day.

I'm only giving three stars because they have so much potential but they just aren't living up to it yet in my opinion. Sometimes the desserts are delicious, other times they're dry, and the regular grocery store cake would be better. It's hit or miss really, which is why only three stars. When it's good, it's delicious though. The chocolate eclair was probably the worst in my opinion, and the white slab cake was the best.

We stopped by Amphora Bakery on our way out of town to pick up a few Easter treats. Everything in the cases looked so delicious. We ended up getting a few bunny cookies, some eclairs, and two cupcakes. The bunny cookies were nice and tasty with a good almond flavor, not just boring bland sugar cookies. The eclairs were good and the chocolate icing on top was rich. The cupcakes were good but the flavoring was just in the icing, not a filled center. I had a peanut butter chocolate cupcake and was hoping that there would have been a filling too but the flavor in the icing was good.

It’s really nice that this place has some seating to enjoy their deserts. Tried German chocolate cake, cookie with raspberry and a piece of baklava. There is pricing on anything except the drinks. All of the deserts and pastries are way too sweet. Taste is ok, just ok. Cakes look really nice!

OMG, we just found this place!!!! Wow! It looks like nothing from the outside, but inside is sooo charming! The desserts are *delicious* - we got a three level mousse thing (vanilla, mocha, chocolate), and a fruit tart. Sooo creamy and delicious! Also iced coffee, and a Caffè latte - strong and deep flavour without being bitter. Also a large triangle of baklava and three iced cookies - all for $28!!! The baklava and cookies are for dessert tonight so I can't review yet. Super nice guy behind the cash register. !!Cakes like those baking competition cake shows!! GO HERE!!!

Do not miss the opportunity to visit Amphora Bakery in Herndon! It is a beautiful, elegant store with the most amazing assortment of cakes and pastries! It is especially known for its cakes and they offer an incredible design assortment for cakes for special occasions. My grad-daughter selected a yellow cake with a raspberry mousse filling and it was outstanding. What we particularly noted was that the buttercream icing was not the overly sweet type that is common to a lot of other cakes. You won’t be disappointed with your dessert selection!

Cute cakes, cupcakes and cookies. American style pastries. Limited option four breakfast unfortunately. Coffee menu available on site with espresso machine. We ordered a drip cake and it was ready on schedule.

My go-to spot for my daughter's birthday treats. Well worth it. I usually get a selection of their cake pops and my daughters and their friends usually love them. Solid place with nice people.

This is our favorite bakery in the local area. They have an amazing selection of scrumptious goodies. One of the best we've had is the chocolate pie. Absolutely divine.

I’ve used the bakery multiple times for cupcakes, birthday cakes, and sugar free cakes. Everytime everything is done on time and delicious.
