Went here late on a Sunday night. Had a chicken burger and some fries. It was pretty darn good. There was a live band playing which was nice.

My goal was the best bison steak while in Denver. I think I got it first try. They nailed the cook on it and it was a beautiful cut. The chili lime wings were awesome too.

The service at Appaloosa Grill was really great. Our waitress, Taylor, went out of her way to make a drink that wasn’t on the menu. We greatly appreciated her high level of service! The food was decent, but we did find the restaurant atmosphere to be a bit lacking. We were there around 6:00pm (before the live music starts), so this might have had an impact on our experience. Also, they do impose a 20% service charge that is shared among all restaurant employees. We did feel that our waitress deserved 20%, but being forced to do so was unexpected since we were only told about the service charge upon receiving the bill.

This place is open for late night dining, serving until midnight, which is why I was here. They had a live band that night, which meant conversation was hard to do. Band was decent, don't know who they were. My French Dip was good, my friend liked his burger. Waitress was friendly but we found ourselves looking for her when she hadn't shown up for awhile. So service was a little slow. We could see a drunk guy from the bar stumbling around on the sidewalks outside. Luckily, that part of the 16th St mall was under construction, so there was no cross traffic, so he was relatively safe.

Forewarning. After we ate our meal, the waiter gave us the check and said that because of Covid, the owners decided to automatically put a 20% tip on the bill to balance out WAGES for all of the staff. And that it is recommended that we leave additional money if he were to get a true tip.

We were wanting a nice dinner in this neighborhood and Appaloosa was definitely not the place to be. Felt like walking into a tourist trap and were disappointed with the food, drinks, and service. The place was mostly empty at dinner time, and I guess the "fee for reservation" is to make sure you can't change your mind when walking in.

Our bartender, Kelly was awesome! Warm and friendly and attentive!

I've come back here a few times before just for the food. The food itself tastes homemade and fresh. Would go back for happy hour when I hit up this city again. Get the lamb.

Reasonable food and atmosphere. But when we got the bill waitress explained to us that we need to pay 20% tip and not less then that, and that is pretty much how it is. If the food and service is good people will tip. But when it’s demanded, it’s quite uncomfortable.

I’m visiting Denver and had a fantastic first experience at Appaloosa Grill last Saturday. The drinks, food, and service at the bar were exceptional. 5 stars! Unfortunately, my return visit today was a stark contrast. A sign indicated self-seating, so we chose a table in the dining area. After ordering one beer, we waited over 15 minutes while other patrons who came after us received their drinks and got their food orders taken. When we flagged down our waitress, she informed us we shouldn't have seated ourselves. Despite placing a food order, we waited another thirty minutes, watching as those who arrived after us were served. Disappointed, we paid for our beer and left. The waitress did comp the beer but offered no apology for the extended wait. While my first visit earned five stars, today's experience was a complete letdown. Hence, an overall rating of two stars.

Mixed bag. Even before the 9pm daily music started it was way too loud inside. I expected better service considering how amazing the hostess, Brittney was. Alas, we literally saw our service twice. Even had to run him to ground to get our check! Food was good. Hubs and I split the bison ribeye, which was a tad overdone. The mac&cheese was spectacular!

The bison burger was delicious, and the included sweet potato fries were a larger portion than I expected. A great deal for $13. Bar service was a little slow but the atmosphere was cool (live music after 9)

Couldn't of been happier with the local recommendation about this fine establishment... Brittany larock was our waitress this fine August evening and I must say she is phenomenal at what she does here!! managing 2 sections of tables on opposite sides of bar on Friday night!! Best I've seen in a long time and best employee this bar has to date!!!

Great selection of cool foods, cocktails and beers. The goat cheese shareable was delicious and Britt, our server, was knowledgeable, friendly and knew her stuff!

A big whopping Meh. The service does not exist to serve. Takes 20+ minutes to get a table, another 20 minutes to get a server to bring badly made drinks. Had the reuben and it was about as good as what you'd expect at Arby's in the airport. Loud and not too pleasant. Would not recommend.

I've submitted a complaint to the Denver Department of Excise and Licenses and the Colorado Attorney General's Office for investigation into this restaurants potentially illegal hidden surcharge fees. My party was surprised to find a mandatory 20% surcharge added to my bill, which was not well disclosed upfront before dining. This felt misleading and deceptive. Be aware before you dine here. There are comments from the owner within these reviews stating that you can simply request the fee be removed (despite being told it was mandatory). This feels further deceptive, as if to say "we want to see how much we can charge you and what your personal threshold is for saying no to absorbent fees."

20% added in a very shady manner. I know for a fact this is illegal. How has this place not been called out? The lawsuit would take minutes in court. Falsely advertising a lower price, giving a consumable item to a customer after said price was established, then upon consumption giving a new 20% higher bill for services rendered. No. It is 100% illegal to charge 20% after selling a product or service. Hoping they get sued.

Overall good experience. The lamb chop was a little dry. The marrow was nice, the fried avocado was ok. Our waitress was friendly. We had a good time

This place is absolutely amazing! Super fun environment. Great staff behind the bar. They were willing to talk and advise on the menu. Menu is filled with delicious options and there were soo many beers to choose from! Highly recommend this place for great atmosphere, food, drinks!

Wife and I in Denver for one day, at 16th St Mall Downton is fun, especially Appaloosa Bar & Grill really made the day trip a wonderful one never will forget memory! The bar and restaurant attendant(Terry) is one of the best host in history. Not too many of them to be found! We immediately thought he’s the Owner. Beautiful highly amazing service. Not to mention, the food and drinks PHENOMENAL! First time trying Elk Burger and Bison Burger and were hooked! Well, we’ll make another day trip to visit 👍

Bison was the best ever. Great goat cheese cheesecake. The staff are all very lovely and friendly. A must place to eat at several times to experience it all.

The burger was excellent and the fries were spectacular. The environment was nice and had a decent band playing. The service was nothing to write home about but wasn’t bad. My only quarrel was that our waitress didn’t ask me how I wanted my burger cooked. The prices weren’t bad considering the area. Overall can’t complain, I would recommend to carnivores.

This place was just ok.they didn't have sweet tea but was told by waiter you can put sugar in it to make sweet. Dude, it's not the same.

Found this place open after leaving convention center. They had live music and the menu items looked good. I got the steak medium with broccoli and my husband got the buffalo chili. Both were absolutely delicious. The steak was cooked to perfection, and the broccoli was well seasoned. My husband devoured the Chili and was excited there was enough to take home for lunch the next day. The Music is quite loud, but even so we had a great dinner.

This place is delicious!! Jack was an exceptional server. He knew everything about the menu and the flavors in all the items. He made this a memorable experience for sure. Everything was made from scratch. Don't overlook the quality of the ketchup, this was the best ketchup I've ever had and it was addictive. We even asked for more to take home. My elk burger was so good and my girlfriend got the denver dip. Au jus from scratch. The salads we started with were exceptional too. I would highly recommend this place and Jack, not too expensive huge quality for your buck.

Went with my spouse and sat a big table near others... We waited over 20 minutes for someone to take an order then I just ordered at the bar... thinking I was being helpful since I assumed servers were busy. I was then loudly chewed out in front of others as if I were a misbehaved child and the server explained sarvastically how ordering in a restaurnt works! Then server stormed off... 1 drink came 15 minutes later and the bartender brought my husband's. We shared a large table with strangers who then left. Server returned to say our group should sit at a larger table... We were not with that group. We asked to order food and she snapped saying she was busy... ordered no food. Someone next to us asked if we wanted to share their apps. Lol. 2 friends joined us and we decided to leave we were given a bill for our drinks and others and charged a 20 percent group fee [There were 2 of us joined late by 2 friends as we left.] My hubby noticed they charged tax on top of a 20 percent group surcharge (we were not a group) [tax on a surcharhe is not legal] and there was still a place to write in an additional tip. Then, if we were not feeling awkward enough... we watched staff belting down shots while working and our friend who just arrived was approached by an employee who did identify himself and asked if there was some kind of problem or conflict as if we and everyone around us were causing trouble. They were not interested in servers chewing people out or not serving them and being exceptionally aggressive and rude. No thanks. We quietly paid the bill for us and apparently others and left. Not a fun experience. I'll spend my time and money elsewhere.

Serivice was good untill I got the bill $145 that included $22 tip. But the server Britny made sure to tell me that is not a tip and rather a service charge, and I need to leave extra tip for her. It was very acwared I was being asked to leave another $22 on top of the $22 that was included. Ofcourse I was not intimidated rather pissed at the audasity. I am attaching a copy of the recipt.. needless to say I will not be going back.

Average at best. Salad was meh. Wings were dry and I had to spit out a few bites because it was so tough. Service did the bare minimum. I will highlight one of the hostesses was going above and beyond and was trying to check in on tables when bot seating guests. Never received a refill with glass empty for 20 minutes. They charge 20% as a collective tip and then servers plead for an additional tip. Not terrible but I wouldn’t come back with so many other options to try.

All were great tasting! We had a reservation the service is fast, we were seated outright, after ordering food delivered fast and fresh! Thank you for the great tasting food and service! 💕. The atmosphere is casual setting.

We were staying nearby in downtown and decided to go to this iconic Denver restaurant. We went on a drizzly Monday afternoon about 730 and we’re able to be seated immediately. I’ll bet by the kitchen and bathroom doors in the back. Initially, we thought bummer, but later we realized we were lucky. Unfortunately, our server had a large table with about 10 people all on individual checks. So as we waited about 20 minutes to get menus or drink order, the general manager came over to. “ help her out.” He was very polite, took our drink orders and turned with them a few minutes later. At about the 40 minute mark, the manager came back to get Our menu choices. He made a very good recommendation about the bison steak more about the food in a minute. Eventually, the waitress came over and apologize politely and we didn’t really see her until we had to flag her down to get the check . The manager brought our food, which was quite excellent. The bison steak was exceptional. It was so tender perfectly cooked. I’ve never had a better steak from cow. The roasted brussels sprouts which were recommended were yummy. And the house potatoes were just industry standard. Nothing special. Right at 9 PM we discovered our fortune at being way “ in the back” of the restaurant when the live music started. I am sure it’s a high energy live band that is an attractive Centerpoint to the restaurant in later hours. But it was.LOUD. So much so we immediately wanted to leave as fast as possible. Overall, the food was great. The general manager was knowledgeable and an awesome waiter. The one thing that sort of tweet me a bit was the waitress who we never saw brought the check and mentioned that they have group tips and an automatic 20% gratuity, but if we wanted to leave more for her or we could . I’m like “What? we haven’t even seen you” in my mind. So unless you like loud live rock music, I’d recommend getting there well before 9 PM so you can eat in a regular restaurant environment.

Just okay. Had seats available on a hot day so that was nice but only one waitress so it took her a while to make the rounds. She was very friendly but that meant taking a lot of time at each table which hurt the efficiency. Bison burger was really good but I regretted the Chile lime slaw which was a little bland.

I sat at the bar by myself on a Sunday night. I had a delicious wedge salad and added steak. I also had a side of truffle fries. The fries were good but not great. The salad was excellent. The lardons made the salad! There was live music which was enjoyable. They have a whole lot of draft beer options. I had a "Drop the Beet" margarita cocktail which was interesting but I ordered a regular margarita for round #2. After I added extra lime to the beet margarita the acid was a little better balanced. I would absolutely go back.

There are many restaurants on 16th Street, but this one offers a special menu. It offers dishes related to elk and American bison, so I decided to give it a try. The price is not particularly expensive, the price is the same in the United States. The reason why the service is given five stars is that although there are many customers inside, our waiter is still very patient and cares about whether our meal is good, but No excessive care or interruption. In addition, our waiter was also very careful in explaining the menu and sounded very professional. Another thing that I think is the best thing is that we didn’t ask any questions, but he took the initiative to explain the service fee. He said that they will charge 15% of the service fee, and their waiters will share this part, so we It doesn't matter if you want to give another tip. If you give another tip, he will receive it personally. Since we were having dinner, I thought the 15% service charge was okay. The reason why I gave four hearts to the meal is because a friend of mine had eaten elk meat in Europe that day. He said that whether the elk meat is processed well, it will taste good when eaten. If it is not processed well, it will have a different taste. He also ordered an elk meat meal that day. He felt that the taste of cheese and stray meat did not match well, and the elk meat was not processed well. It was not unpalatable, but it was not as delicious as what he had eaten in Europe. As for the American bison, my husband felt that it tasted not much different from ordinary beef. If I hadn’t been told, I probably wouldn’t have known it was American bison, but he thought it was quite delicious. I think his salad is pretty good. I added a Blackened chicken, which I like, a dry grilled chicken breast, because I personally don't like the juicy chicken breast. The reason why I gave the atmosphere five stars is because there is a live band after about seven or eight o'clock in the evening. People who are afraid of the noise may not like it, so we left not long after the band started because we were there to chat. Although the band was quite It sounded good and the quality was good, but we couldn't hear each other's conversations. One bad thing is that someone was smoking marijuana at one point. I would have a headache if I smelled the smell, so I was very unhappy.

When in the Mile High City’s Downtown district (16th St. Mall) stop in for the lamb chops. They are delicious 😋, or choose whatever’s on the menu that tickles your fancy. The atmosphere is pleasant. They have a bar. Service friendly and attentive. Prices reasonable considering the area.

The service was great. I believe our waitress was named Taylor, but I don't remember exactly. I do remember she was very attentive and friendly. I had the bison burger, which was absolutely delicious. Good selection of craft beers as well

This place has amazing, high-quality food! Our waiter did a wonderful job serving us. This was by far one of the best sit-down restaurants I've eaten at. The only thing they could improve would be the lighting inside. It was quite dim during the evening.

This is mine and my boyfriend’s go to burger spot hands down. The sweet potato fries and regular fries are so fresh and cooked perfectly. I recommend the Mac and cheese upcharge for sure worth it. The burger is 10/10 we got ours well-done and it came out super juicy and cooked to perfection. Give this place a visit bc live music starts at 9.

Seriously delicious bison steaks. Annoyed that they nickel and dime you for sides. Service is good enough. They only have 1 toilet. Still worth it for the steaks.

Server did not put in one of the entrees and was not completely honest about it until the first entree was eaten. Yes that steak was taken off the bill and yes a drink was paid for by management. But there's an automatic 20% service charge in Colorado as I was told by the server. So what is the incentive if you're going to get a 20% tip for subpar service?
