The best food I've had in the entire state. It's very home style, and the owners are some of the kindest people I've ever met. Highly recommended. The Arabic coffee and baklava are a must try

It's the real deal. Mom cooks, Dad runs the front of house. Everything is hand made, even the dolma. I got the Mediterranean Sampler. It came with a piece of handmade bread lime a pita but much much better. It's a very laid back atmosphere so service isn't like a chain. It's genuine and they both have wonderful personalities. Thank you, it was a great lunch.

Food is decent. The shawarma is good and normal portions. The baba ganoush wrap is child size and not enough food for a hungry adult, but tasty. One of us is now full but the vegetarian had to find more food because you gave us a sandwich for a 5 year old. 2 sandwiches to-go came with unnecessary packaging and plastic silverware. Cut back on your packaging and ask people if they want extra napkins and utensils. I don't because I always have them with me so I don't waste more plastic that is difficult to recycle. Normally I check to see if there are extra things and give them back, but we were in a hurry ... Please just stop doing that automatically and ask if people want them Please be kinder to the environment and re-label your baba ganoush wrap as a child meal. And it's all a bit too much money for what we got. If you buy less excessive packaging you could save money or charge a little less

Hands down the worst service we’ve had in the last 10 years. We ordered the beef shawarma, but she said that she “was running low on beef” (not actually out), “so chicken will have to do” and then walked off on us. She was very warm to one other table, but cold and ignored everybody else. Then when I went up to pay inside, she asked me if 20% tip was OK. I said I’d prefer 15%, to which she said 20 is the lowest. And I said her service has been shocking, and she said “it is what it is”. Luckily for her, her food is good, otherwise she’d no doubt be out of business.

Wow, I can see how she gets great reviews, because her food is lovely and such a cute place, but also see how she gets some low reviews based on her treatment of select customers. We experienced first hand being treated terribly. However, she was warm and chatty with others, but we couldn’t exactly tell what we “did wrong”. She gave us the silent treatment from the second we walked in. My husband wonders if she was rude because he walked straight to the restroom. I was reading the menu, but she did not acknowledge me I guess until she was certain we were going to stay? I work food service and even when we are crazy busy, we try to say hello when people walk in the door. It’s not clear in this restaurant what the method for ordering is. It seems a customer is to come in and sit down and she will come to you. But there is no helpful “please be seated sign”. She seems to get annoyed when folks don’t intuitively confirm to her method. She told some other customers, “look at the menu, but DON’T TOUCH ANYTHING, and then go sit down”. When we went to order, of course she is talking to us across the room from her kitchen… my husband goes to tell her “we will split the Sampler plate and a soup”. But he only got out the first half before she barks “there’s no splitting food”. She had no patience and told us she did not serve $8 per customer meals and if we wanted to split a meal we were welcome to go next door to the delicious pizza place. A few weeks ago, we peaked our head in after hours because we didn’t realize it closed at 3 and she warmly invited us in to look at the menu. We declined, but I was looking forward to coming back to such a beautiful space. The food was good. I ordered tiramisu for dessert. Was trying to be kind and patronly in the midst of be treated tersely. And yet, after being treated like we were inconveniencing her, I’m not motivated to return. Very sad.

Absolutely blown away by this hole in the wall gem. The food was super delicious with plenty of flavor and freshness. Very homemade like. This is a local cafe/restaurant with very authentic dishes made with love. The owners are super sweet and kind. I ordered the mid east sample dish: baba ghanous, hummus, fresh in house made pita bread, grape leaves, tabbouleh, and chicken shawarma. The hummus' freshness with the pita bread blew me away! If you like chai, you MUST try the chai here. It's fresh grind. The best chai I've ever had, no exaggerating. The apple juice was freshly made. The omelet is super tasty if you love spinach. Lots of spinach. Finally, their baklava that was made fresh this very morning was delicious. Reminded me of the homemade baklava back home. I have added this place to my favorites. Posting this is 'Denver Foodies' on Facebook as well.

Had a piece of pizza from right next door to help with low blood sugar problem and was planning to eat at this place, but I didn’t know the name of it. I set my pizza down and walked to the sidewalk to see the name of the restaurant to look up their menu since there was none outside. As I returned to the table a woman came out and yelled at me “you cant sit here” I was taken aback and simply said thank you as I picked up my pizza and she yelled at me again “you can’t sit here!” I simply said thank you, have a nice day and left without ordering anything. It was so rude I struggled to remain calm and not engage with the woman. My wife was disappointed because we love to try new food places and decided to call to speak to the owner. The woman never offered a menu or even asked if I was going to eat there. So, we call and the woman answers and says she is the owner and starts arguing with my wife. She did not care or want to even hear us speak. she talked over anything we tried to say. Then she said “if you have complaint, see psychology!” I let her know she lost our business and we would be warning others. Now that we read some other reviews, we know this is how she often treats customers, terribly!

I have never written a Google review before but this is the first time I've felt a genuine need to warn people about a restaurant. The service from the female owner is worse than garbage. I walked into the restaurant, and it was empty save for one group of 6. Since I saw no one at the front, I walked upto the counter. The woman then rudely told me that "this isn't like a fast food place, sit down at one of the tables, my husband will be late". I was taken aback by the curtness of the response but I thought it might have been a momentary lapse. Another group of three came into the restaurant and she then immediately said the same thing and also added,"If you want fast food go to a pizza place or something". She then said ,"You four are together yes". I think she assumed I was with the other group because we were all brown. I stayed for one more minute but decided to get up and leave because it seemed she treated everyone with this disrespect. Halfway down the street I hear her shouting and she follows me onto the street saying, "CLOSE THE DOOR, I DON'T LIKE WHEN PEOPLE DON'T CLOSE THE DOOR" because apparently it didn't close behind me. Never going back there again.

This is the best Arab/Middle Eastern restaurant after growing up and spendings 30 years in the Front Range. I learned about them 10 years ago when I was going to college at CU. I just wanted to take a second and give a warm shoutout to the owner of Arabesque restaurant on 17th & Walnut. A friend brought me there for lunch late last month, and I've gone back a number of times since because: 1. the cuisine is DELICIOUS. It's so so so fresh and everything (to my knowledge) is homemade 2. the ambience, both outdoor and indoor, is darling, quaint, and homey 3. the owner is also the chef and she has such a gift at helping make everyone feel special and welcome. She is kind and hilarious and just radiates joy. 4. It's far enough away from the nexus of Pearl St. that it doesn't feel touristy I woke up today thinking about the wonderful lunch I had there yesterday. My husband, who is a basic "meat and potatoes kind of guy", even requests we go to Arabesque when we visit our son in boulder. Possibly, the individual who considered the hard workers at Arabesque to be rude, should have taken the time to ask how to say "thank you" in Arabic....... The owner and master chef Manal Jarrar is a one woman show and is masterful. The food served are her creations including the Chai which I normally pass on I would order all on its own. If you visit this part of Colorado you MUST eat here. My only regret is that we are from Sacramento and cannot make it a regular haunt. A group of EIGHT of us was warmly greeted and the lovely owner promptly set to work rearranging tables and diving in to an explanation of the menu. I have never felt so welcomed or at home during a dining experience. Like other reviews on Yelp and TripAdvisor, the food was good but the woman owner was SO rude. I do understand she was working alone and it was busy but I had never been there before. I didn't know how the restaurant worked so I asked, and she snapped at me. She told me that this place wasn't like fast food that that I would have to be patient. I was shocked by her response, I was polite and calm and I just asked a simple, non-threatening question. All throughout our meal she continued to be incredibly rude. Also, we had gotten a coffee earlier in the morning and had the empty togo cup on our table. She barked at us telling us that they don't allow outside items. We told her it was empty and that we didn't see a trash can and she rolled her eyes and told us to keep our trash. My dear friend and I enjoyed a perfect experience here on August 12. Wow. We sat outside on a lovely weather day; the tables offer enough privacy for conversation and allow you to still feel connected to the restaurant and those walking by. Everything felt incredibly fresh, nourishing and divine. Our plates were beautiful, and I felt so satiated. We LOVED the stuffed grape leaves, our perfect plates of chicken shawarma... and the tiramisu was seriously the best we've ever had. I had the chai, which was delicious. Our server was very attentive and friendly. And... bonus: owner and skilled, kind, talented creator of these most wonderful eats and beverages--Manal--said hello as we were leaving and is such an authentic, inspiring, hardworking human. She keeps it real, and chatting with her briefly rounded out our exceptional lunch. We felt so grateful as we left and will be back soon.

This place is a jewel! From the minute you walk in and smell the delicious aroma, it's such a pleasure. I had the chicken shawarma platter and it was the best shawarma I've ever had. I am kicking myself for waiting so long since my last visit here, and I look forward to coming agin soon. Super friendly service too!

It'd been a while since we'd been able to come out for lunch at Arabesque, and I'm so happy to say it's still as wonderful as ever! Fantastic food, friendly service, truly worth the trek to Boulder. We'll be back again soon.. thank you!!! P.S. Try the Cheese Lady. It is delicious and a fun experience!

We were visiting from Colorado Springs, and were unaware that this restaurant closes at 3PM. We arrived barely ten minutes before they were to close, but the owners very graciously stayed open just so we could eat. The food was terrific, as is the locale: we ate outside in the little courtyard, under umbrellas and a canopy of trees. The owners are very personable, and were great fun to talk to, and really paid attention to how our children were enjoying the food!

This is favorite lunch spot in Boulder. The chicken shawarma wrap is my go-to, although I also like the mid-east sampler (if I'm REALLY hungry), the spinach pie, and the hummus wrap. The food is delicious, filling, and healthy. You can tell the owner/chef takes pride in her cooking, and uses good ingredients.

The owner of this place needs to find a new career. How she stays in business is beyond my comprehension. For the first time in my life, I had my lunch plate thrown down in front of me - and she was the owner! OMG. Before sitting down, I went inside to ask this owner if she could accommodate my food allergies, explaining what they were. After being assured that it was no problem, my husband & I sat down. To be clear, no food had to be made special for my allergies - two items just had to be left off the plate. This was not a big ask, and any restaurant would easily do this for a patron with allergies. As soon as we sat down, she turned into another person. Rude? Yes. Unfriendly? Yes. Dismissive? Yes. Did I say rude? YES. We never saw her at our table after she threw our lunch plates down in front of us. No question of 'is your lunch ok', no question of 'do you need anything else', no question of 'do you need more water' (we did and never got it). I don't know what her issues are, but I really hope she gets some professional help. IMO this was not just someone having a bad day. After reading other reviews, there is a pattern here. The food? Just okay. Not terrible, but definitely nothing special. But we could not enjoy our lunch with the tense atmosphere created by the owner. In hindsight, I wish we would have just gotten up & left before the food arrived. We could have given our business to a deserving establishment. After reading other reviews after our experience, I see a common thread of food allergy requests that seem to set her off for sure. Read the reviews. We are not the only patrons to receive this wretched, uncalled for treatment. If I could give a ZERO rating, I would. She will never see our faces again, and I feel it's my duty to share our experience with all I know. Steer clear unless you like to be abused. Karma.
