It's a gem of a place. The employees are kind and welcoming and the food is very fresh. We stopped twice on our family vacation, once for lunch and once for breakfast and enjoyed our meals.

Great food, plenty of dine in seating and outside seating . Stop in and enjoy.

Really pleasant vibe and good coffee. Breakfast was disappointing, though. We all had pancakes and bacon, and everything was overcooked. The bacon was practically burnt. The pancakes were dry and crumbly. Even my son, who has yet to meet pancakes/bacon he wouldn’t eat, barely touched his food.

This place is hit or miss as far as service. The food is usually good but the service is not always good. It is annoying to pick up an order and the find you have no silverware because the staff cannot focus on what is needed to fully complete an order. Seems to be the norm for Montross restaurants though. I would recommend for the food but not the staff.

First off, coming in smelled like B.O.. The furniture and decor were actually pretty nice. We went up to the counter and a rude, older lady asked "what do you want?" Not even a "what can I get for you". I politely say "can I get a berry smoothie without whipped cream? Does it have sugar?" to which she rudely retorts "yes, IT DOES." My friend ordered a frozen vanilla drink with espresso without whipped cream. The service was pretty quick, but that didn't make up for the crappy drinks. They both had a fat dollop of whipped cream when we specifically asked for NO whipped cream. We asked for a spoon to take off the cream and it took them 5 minutes just to give us a spoon. Mine tasted very fake and WAY too sweet. Like, just use real berries, even if they're frozen. Maybe it wouldn't end up like a sloppy slur of "berries" that they serve. I went to throw mine out after a few sips, but they didn't even have a trash can outside. My friend described his drink as artificially tasting and overly-creamy. Despite the quick service and unique atmosphere, when I go to a restaurant, food/drinks are everything. If I could give negative stars, I would.

Staff was patient and helpful. We stopped every day during our stay in Montrose for coffee. We loved it!

Stopped by this morning on my way through town. I walked in not realizing they weren't open yet--didn't matter! They couldn't have been nicer or more accommodating. 5 star customer service. The coffee was great, the breakfast sandwiches were the best I have had in recent memory! Really delicious. Made my daughter a yummy cookies and cream drink. The space is also really lovely and welcoming. They also feature local artists, which I really love and appreciate small businesses that support local artists. Give this place a try, you won't be sorry!

Came here with a group of 8, friendly staff, you order food and drinks at the counter. They bring it out to your table and clear the table when done. The speed our food came out was fairly fast, and it was all good, home fries quite tasty. Full service coffee, with a lot of flavors and options as well as alcohol options. Quaint and cheery little place in town!

1st time in and everyone was friendly and helpful.

This little hole in a wall is an absolute must - whether local or in town visiting. While the name makes you think it’s just a coffee shop, it is so much more! I’ve had breakfast and lunch here, many of their coffees and they never miss!!! My favorite BEC croissant, the best I’ve ever had which is saying a lot as I have traveled often. The shea crab soup is a must. Will always come here and shout from the rooftops - amazing team, great ambience, and delicious food!

What can I say. The Art of Coffee is a true gem in Montross. I just got coffee but they do serve food. It's very pretty and inviting. They sell local artists items from pictures to jewelry and everything in between. It's not very big so seating is limited. You can dine in doors or outside.

Great *everyone welcome here* vibe! Old gas station auto repair shop turned local eatery. Food is made fresh to order. They offer indoor and patio dining. True to the business name, the interior is packed with local artisan treasures for sale. The clientele is a mix of locals and tourists passing through the Northern Neck of Virginia. Whether you are searching for a quick bite, gathering with friends, purchasing a gift or grabbing a cup of coffee I highly recommend this Virginia treasure.

What a unique place - great soup and sandwich, wonderful latte, and delicious desserts (that I took home to share). Pecan pie slab bar is highly recommended. Lots of cute gift ideas as well. Please stop here instead of a fast food place - you'll be very happy.

I come here with my grandmother as a girls day treat and every single time the drinks are delicious, the pastries are wonderful, and the batistas are a delight!!!! Absolutely recommend stopping by.

Stopped in to have lunch. Staff was friendly and drinks came out quick! Super tasty and they have plenty of options. Loved the theme of an art gallery coffee shop. Had some local art and items there. (The candles smell AMAZING!) Plenty of seating in and outdoors. Good took a little long than expected but there was a big order before us. The paninis came out amazing though! Tasty for sure.

A great place to stop and get your morning caffeine hit. The eclectic art, the tasty food, and the delicious morning brews are amazing. Highly recommend stopping here when in the area. P.s. they have a nice little wine selection of local vineyards.

I enjoyed a Black Bean burger, and an oatmeal raisin cookie with pistachios. Food is great, and they bring the food right to your table. Great place to hangout! Went back a second time for more great food!

We have been here many times. Food is great but today it was terrible. I called in an order as we were on a time-line. Got there. Order had not been processed and one of the baristas was very involved in a personal conversation with friends. So disappointing.

Men's Prayer breakfast for 8 of us was perfect. It was a little crowded, but the plants and the art and the food were all great. I felt like the prices were just a little high.

The best coffee shop in town. We were there so many times last summer but never had a chance to give them a review. Food there never disappointed us, whatever you order will come out from the kitchen fresh and delicious. The presentation was beautiful and portion was great. We love the French dip and Chicken Salad it was yummy and the dubble chocolate muffin was the bomb of the day! Will be back in the summer.

My wife and I stayed in the area for Valentine's day and in the morning before we headed back to reality we had breakfast here before the drive home. I liked how it was set up with your order and pay and they bring it out, the food was excellent and I'm glad we picked this place to eat. Great atmosphere and the price was right for the portions. Will return and would recommend!

My family and I try to make a stop here on our way in or out of the NNK. The service has always been friendly and attentive. My children always get the smoothies - packed with flavor and delicious. The coffee and specialty drinks are equally well done. The sandwiches we have ordered have been well prepared and very tasty. They have not let us down yet.

Excellent little shop bringing very well prepared food to the area. Thoughtful menu, excellent preparation, and cute, funky atmosphere. Very much enjoyed the Reubens and the Cuban. Have been here before and never left disappointed. Well done, Art of Coffee! You certainly do more than just coffee. A must do next time you're in the northern neck!

We went to get coffee and ended up leaving with two sausage biscuit, coffee, and a whale fossil. The ladies in the front were so nice and sweet and the sausage biscuits were amazing!

Adorable coffee shop with amazing lunches! Inside they also have art, crafts, even scented candles and hand made jewelry for sale. There is a covered patio outside to enjoy your brew on a nice day.

10/10!! My partner & I travel full time with high standards for small town cafes. This place hits every nail on the head! The coffee, breakfast, & customer service here are unmatched. The women working both days we came were incredibly kind & knew the locals by name. They also have fun gift shop goodies like sharks teeth, fossils, handmade jewelry, soaps, prints and paintings! Highly recommend stopping here if given the chance :)

What a unique place to meet friends for breakfast or lunch. The staff is super and the selection of coffees amazing.

We had lunch here while on a recent bicycle trip and found it to be a cool little place. The panninis were excellent and the service was prompt and friendly. There are tables inside and outside under cover and the theme of art makes itself known throughout. An excellent lunch spot I'd highly recommend.

I love this place and the yummy food. The gal at the register knew my name today (I am a little embarrassed not to know hers in return...will remedy). You know you are in the right place to start your day when they remember your name. It's a celebrity sighting spot too. Ive seen Paton Oswalt before and they have photos of others. It'sa popularspot along the way to "the Rivah" and The Bay. Best place to get coffee, breakfast, lunch or free wifi in the area. Adorable, cozy, and happy place. Try the Lavender Honey Iced Latte with oat milk. Lip-smacking.

I love stopping by Art of Coffee when I'm in the area. The food and drinks are wonderful, the staff are fantastic, and they always have excellent hand made items for sale (I always buy an apron) :)

I only stopped by for a cup of black coffee, but it was really good coffee! If I lived in this area I'd surely come in for breakfast all the time, they have some intriguing options on their menu. This place has a lot of character!

Waited 20 minutes for one latte. Lady made frozen drinks for four people, ordering after me, before she made mine. 😐 Won't be stopping in again anytime in the near future.

Food and drinks were amazing, the service was out of this world, and there was a checkerboard for entertainment while waiting for our food (which was not a long wait).

Intriguing little coffee/food shop. The spiced latte is the best I have ever had really wish I had order a large. The menu has a great variety for a small shop. Ordered the impressionist scrambled eggs with spinach, ham, tomatoes topped with fresh feta some amazing home fries and mouthwatering biscuit. I only come thru here every couple years but If I was a local I would most definitely be a frequent customer. Wish I live closer but this is a place more then worth the drive !

My Philly cheese steak sandwich was awesome, as was the Seafood quiche. The service was great. It's a unique restaurant to visit.

We've stopped here many times in Montross, VA on our way to friends in the northern neck. Art is in the decor, service is prompt and pleasant. We go for the coffee and pastry, so we can't comment on the other food offerings we've seen served, but we'll bet it's good too.

Enjoyed this quaint coffee shop so much yesterday, I went back today for a different cup of coffee and breakfast. Looks like they converted an old gas station to a coffee house with the bathroom still on the exterior. They made to order delicious panini sandwiches too. Also have cute gifts to purchase. I wish this place was in my small town.

A very quaint, special little spot who’s staff is very friendly and well versed in customer service. The food is always fresh, delicious, and consistent. I love the concept and appreciate the uniqueness it brings to Montross. The Toffee Frappe is my #1 favorite, the chicken salad, pastrami, and the Burgers are hands down the BEST!!! I recommend this GEM to anyone looking for an all around great experience!!!

Great breakfast place, with large selection of coffees and pastries. Breakfast made to order, so always hot and fresh. Simple surroundings, nothing fancy but certainly worth a stop while in the area.

When I visited 10 years ago, I was not a fan of Art of Coffee. I have returned a few times in recent months and I am absolutely blown away. The food is amazing. The vibe is fun. The service is attentive. There prices are good for the portions and quality.

My go to for local lunch. The French-dip panini with pasta salad is my favorite. The food is always fresh and delicious!
