I've had great memories and meals here when I was younger. The food now though has been consistently bad. Food is either cold, steak is tough (tastes like it was frozen/no flavor), and even the fries come out undercooked. This place is only good if you're looking to drink because the alcohol prices are cheap. The staff are mostly friendly, and service is always pretty good. Disappointed the place is going downhill

08/25/2024. About 7:30 pm My husband and I had a very short experience at this place since we didn’t get to sit at a table because the only two servers passed by us many times at the entrance while we waited to be seated for at least 10 min and acted like we were invisible. One of them finally said something to us, without even stoping. We waited a few more min after that and decided to leave. The restaurant wasn’t busy at all. Plenty of tables available. Very poor service. RUDE, DISCOURTEOUS SERVERS. Needless to say we are not going back to this place.

I like Atlantic! Good food at a very fair price! Portuguese no how to do it right.. I don't know another culture that does it better honestly! Portuguese don't except bad food so if the doors are open more then a year you can bet there is good food inside!

Food was delicious, but the excellentvservice is what sets this place apart! The grilled sardines were such a treat! They were very accommodating of our gluten free needs. I will definitely be coming back here again!

Excellent food. Ordered fried sardines as an app and they were DELICIOUS. Got the cubed pork with baby potatoes. Was expecting a small portion but it was huge! Descriptions are deceiving. I had to take some home! Family owned restaurant that treats you lile family; a man played happy birthday for my grandpa on the piano.

My first time at a home style Portuguese resturant. The recommendations were amazing I had the soup and sausage and the shiskabob. All was amazing cooked great and plenty to take home for a snack. From the outside wasn't a place I would normally stop as I have passed by here a number of times over the past 10 plus years but meeting friends here who recommended the place it was definitely a treat. Service was amazing. It was a perfect mix of attentive but not overbearing. We weren't rushed when we were done and I would come back. I had such a great time I forgot to take pictures Give it a try.

The food wasn’t the best. The lobster I got had hardly any meat in it and when I cracked it open it had green in the middle. Needless to say I’m not going back to this place ever again.

The food is fresh and very good. The grilled Octopus and grilled Bacalhau (salted cod), are excellent. Steak served on a hot stone, finished cooking at your table - nice twist.

Went to Atlantic restaurant yesterday for lunch. The atmosphere was quiet and friendly just like any day you want a nice peaceful lunch. I ordered the bacalhau com natas. It was insanely good! I'm going right back next week for the same meal!

Stopped by today just because I haven't in a long time. I had the salada de polvo and gambas ao alhinho. The food is always great here. Definitely recommend this place. I can't forget the amazing vino verde.

It was very empty on this Tuesday evening when we went to have dinner. We entered through the bar which was interesting since it was obvious it was filled with regulars, enjoying the social atmosphere around the bar and the TVs watching sports. We continued into an empty and beautifully set up dining room, seated ourselves, and shortly received menus from the waitress/ bartender (we found out later she was pulling double duty and did quite a good job keeping up with our needs despite a full bar.) The menu had many great choices and I ended up with grilled chicken breast with grilled shrimp and fried egg served with rice and salad. My husband had paella, my son beefsteak a la pedra, and our friend bacalao con batatas a muro. We shared two delicious appetizers, grilled shrimp and chorizo. The bread was amazing and between us all, we finished two baskets. My husband and our friend enjoyed Portuguese beer. It was a very pleasant evening with great service, delicious food, and awesome company.

Atlantic Restaurant has the best Portuguese food in town. It's a cozy restaurant with a great staff. They have a dining room side and a bar side depending on how you feel. There is also an outdoor patio you can enjoy.

I will start with the good, portions are amazing, services friendly and place was clean. The bad is calamari was so rubbery I couldn't eat it the red wine taste like cooking wine, and although the dinning room is small there is only one serve with 1 buser. She was so busy I felt bad to ask for anything else. I also think they should be clearer on the food menu about what comes with the dish and drinks should be added to the menu. They have a full bar, oh, and I LOVED the live piano player.

Disappointed with the quality of the food. No flavor at all.

Honestly, it was a pretty disappointing experience. Food was meh, fresh garlic on my shrimp but over cooked rice kinda spoiled it. Great drinks and service, waitress, and staff were lovely and knowledgeable. Bar area looked comfy, but we were in the main dining room that was sparsly decorated but had an approximately 30" tv with live Mixed Martial arts playing on it. Probably won't return for a meal.

This restaurant was recommended and was very good. It a clean, nicely run place with white tablecloths - not fancy but the food was great. It primarily serves Portuguese food but the menu has something for everyone. I especially enjoyed the quail. The others enjoyed the plentiful Mariscada. The wine was good and they give a good ‘pour’. There was a piano player while we were there. The owner David, came over to the table . He sent us over a complimentary dessert- a flan type dessert. The server, Felipa was very attentive. One of the best parts was the check- not expensive at all. We will certainly be back again. Obrigato

I dont like the way the lady treated us. If the owner is seeing this please do something because that will hurt your business and the food is good. You cant have someone with a bad actitud working that was our third and last time there because of the horrible service.

La comida estuvo buena pero tienen mal servicio.

La comida tiene buen sabor aunque en aspectos generales hay algunos detalles que no me gustaron, no habian mas clientes cuando llegue y ordene, sin embargo la comida tardo mas de 40 minutos en salir, pedí una espetada bien cocida y me llego termino medio la tuve que devolver y esperar 15 minutos más aunque de igual modo volvio cruda, durante el tiempo que estuve en el local otros clientes que llegaron pidieron 4 Bife na pedra y el local quedó lleno de humo al punto que no se podía respirar debieron abrir las puertas del local exponiendo a todos al frío de la época debido a que no tienen sistema de extracción. Quedamos muy decepcionados.

If i could give zero stars I would worst service ever never even got my meal as my husband finished his dinner had to cancel mine. Salad never served beyond incompetent. If you want to have a truly awful night this is it

Did a late dinner after work. Food was fresh and delicious. Steak was Aplus and the flan is amazing. Server was great, she treats her customers like they are her friends. Very welcoming bar and restaurant.

Quite honestly best food! Would recommend anybody to come.

Muy buena atención y buena comida

I don't normally write reviews, but I was compelled to write one for Atlantic Restaurant after seeing that they haven't had a review since December 2020. My husband and I stopped here for dinner last night on our way home to Northern Connecticut from New York. It was Labor Day and the restaurant was empty, but the bar was packed, so we decided to eat in there. One young woman was the only one working outside of the kitchen. She was bartending, taking and delivering food orders, and checking on guests, and she performed her job flawlessly, even pausing from her busy job to talk to us for a couple of minutes about Portugal. My husband ordered one of the cod dishes, and I had the salmon special. Both were plentiful and perfectly cooked, moist and flavorful, and the kitchen accommodated my request for no salt. The best part was the price. Our dinners came with bread, salad, a side vegetable, and potatoes. We shared a bottle of wine, and I had a glass of Port at the end of the meal. All that for just $73. The bar was noisy, with clearly lots of locals providing camaraderie, and the juke box blasting, but the dining room was nice and quiet, so there's an atmosphere for whatever your taste. Definitely give this place a try if you're in the area.

We were visiting the area for a family event so we thought we'd give this restaurant a try. We arrived without a reservation but that turned out not to be a problem. We were warmly welcomed inside and promptly seated. Rolls and a small dish of tasty olives were immediately brought to the table. We had many questions about the cuisine and our waitress was really patient and answered all our questions. We started our meal with the fried sardines appetizer. It was crunchy and delicious. For the main course, my husband chose the Octopus which was perfectly prepared. He devoured it with glee. I was warned that the seafood stew was enough for two people but I went ahead and ordered it anyway. It was a huge portion filled with shrimp, a whole lobster, scallops and squid, all in a rich, savory broth. I stuffed myself and still had enough leftovers for another meal at home ! All through our meal, the waitstaff was attentive to our every need and went out of their way to keep us happy. This was our first visit but it won't be our last. I can't wait to come back next time we're in town.

Went for lunch with a friend, we both had the Special soup appy, followed by the Clams Special, him and the Octopus Salad special, me. Everything was well made and the octopus, which can easily be ruined if not prepared with exacting accuracy, was perfect. They have an extensive meat menu, all prepared in what I can only assume in a traditional Portuguese manner. Portuguese beer, of course, but wine if that is what you prefer. Parking in the rear, and Handicap accessible. Covered and protected outdoor seating, if you are comfortable with that. If you are able, help keep local businesses alive.

The owner and the staff were delightful. The food is unusual and delicious. We'll be back

October 4, 2020 Sunday me and my wife say let’s go out for dinner I cook every day let’s get some different we went to the Atlantic the waitress didn’t know too much about the menu the server took the order she never brought the appetizers that we asked for. The Food Was served.(MARISCADA) My wife got chicken Parm . The chicken was dry the shrimp that came in was cold and fried on old oil. Horrendous. My dish which was supposed to be a good size the scallops was the size of a grain of corn the shrimp not too much bigger the steamers just for no muscles the lobster was overcooked a little bit of meat just in a towel most of it was water. The server never came back. The Italian lady that brought the food to the table I told her at the end she offered no answer I went there because the reputation because ( Elena The owner used to work for ALFAIA . Which are used to go years ago they had a fantastic food but whatever recipe she’s got was the worst one I’ve been in the food business to be honest I don’t know if I will never go back I only gave one star because I don’t think I could give a zero. The sauce for my meal was very watery and the rice the same as my wife had. No manager no supervisor did do anything not even care.

For several years I pass through this restaurant not knowing how delicious the food they have. Original portuguese dining. The menu and your choice will make you come back, which I will go back.

Food really deserves a 5 star. But service and the place itself was not what I expected. (this was my 1st review) Have been back and I did like what I saw. Service and food was great !! and would not be fair if I did not say anything.

we have driven past this restaurant numerous times over the years and never stopped in. On a friends recommendation, we decided to try it today and we are kicking ourselves for all the times we could have dined there. The ambience is phenomenal, and elegant. The prices are very reasonable and the staff was most accommodating and friendly. I would give this restaurant 10 stars if it were possible! I decided to have one of the specials on the lunch menu. It was pork tenderloin (aptly-named), with shrimp on top, and slathered with fresh garlic and olive oil. I was offered french fries, which I declined thinking they were typical french fries, but they are not. They are homemade potato chips that were out of this world delicious. There was also a side of white rice served with the same garlicky oil and was delicious! I forgot to mention that each of our meals began with a delicious garden salad. My husband had fried cod and the same sides that I had, as well as butterflied shrimp. He enjoyed it thoroughly! There are a few parking places in the front, but there are several in the rear parking lot. I cannot say enough good things about this restaurant! We will definitely be going back and bringing friends! There is a sports bar in the back of the restaurant and separate from the dining room so one has the option of the type of environment they prefer.

Awesome Potugese/Spanish food. Little pricey at $27 for cod fish(Bachalau): but very glad I did. Red garlicky wine sauce in sauteed Shrimp dish... Mariscada great. They didn't use the Jumbo shrimp in that. Drinks moderately expensive. No riff Raff, great clientele.

I've been here countless times and it's always been a great place to bring your family and enjoy a nice authentic Portuguese dinner. Their pricing is very very reasonable and they just renovated their dining room as well! It looks beautiful

The food is reliably amazing. The price point is very good. My only issue is the constant beeping inside the restaurant. The door beeps every time it’s opened (front door, back door, bar door). Seems unnecessary and kills ambiance. It makes me want to never return. Fix the beep, I can’t believe no one has ever complained before!

Excellent family-owned restaurant. Very good grilled shrimp, garlic shrimp, and grilled sardines. Full meals for two, including cappuccinos and wine, came to only $70. Not very impressive from the street, but worth the visit.

The Atlantic didn't look very impressive from the street, but funny let that fool you. We arrived at about 6:30 on a Saturday night and the was only over other couple there, by 8:00 it was packed. The dining room is on the small side and most of the tables were families or married couples. The menu has a wide variety of Portuguese dishes of pork, beef, chicken, and goat, along with plenty of seafood. All of the dishes come with a salad, rice, and fries or potatoes, but you can substitute for a vegetable. A decent selection of wines (including Portuguese vinho verdes) by the bottle, 1/2 bottle, or glass. We had the grilled shrimp as an appetizer and the garlic shrimp and grilled (large, whole) sardines for entrees. Service was attentive without being intrusive. We were kept supplied with fresh rolls and olives whine we waited for our excellent food. Well worth the visit.

Looking for fine Portuguese cuisine? Atlantic is one of the best places around Danbury. I have been here many time the last few years and I have had mostly pleasant times. Only once did I have a problem, took a very very very long time to receive our food. We were a party of 8, but it took close to an hour for the main dishes to finally arrive. This of course has only happened once out of 10+ visits so it is a very rare occurrence. The prices are very common and competitive to other restaurants especially Portuguese. The food has always been great, from the steaks to the seafood to the salad. The appetizers and soup are always amazing. You really can’t go wrong with anything you order. The service is always good, friendly and helpful. Very kid friendly as well. A down fall is that the main dining room is small, so if you show up at dinner especially on the weekends; good luck. Overall: I always recommend and continue to go back whenever I can. 👍🏻👍🏻

Stopped in for dinner one Friday night with my husband, children and Portuguese in-laws. Menu offered great traditional cuisine and wines. Staff was delightful and accommodating to our two-year old. We all loved our dinners and had leftovers for lunch! Limited parking in front but plenty of spots behind the restaurant. Entrance in the back was well lit but did include stairs.

I enjoyed lunch at the Atlantic this afternoon. At the suggestion of a close friend I ordered the Codfish Cakes. This was listed on the menu as an appetizer, but the portion was more than enough for a filling lunch. Paulina, the server, took my order promptly and shortly after arrived with a bread basket and butter, and a bowl of olives, two types of green and two types of black. I enjoyed these as I awaited my lunch. Paulina suggested a glass of Vinho Verde, which was cool, crisp, and bubbly. The Codfish Cakes arrived hot with a crispy golden brown exterior and a flavorful and creamy interior. The wine was the perfect accompaniment. I always enjoy the food at the Atlantic and highly recommend it. Thanks, Gary...I love this place!
