Nice spacious restaurant and they prepared my meal fast as I was in rush!

Good Chinese food in an upscale restaurant setting.

It's always a wonderful experience when Yandi is the server/bar tender, even when the restaurant is busy, but Mimi's service leaves much to be desired. When slammed or not, it seems that Mimi loses track of, &/or maybe prioritizes customers differently. This has been my experience on multiple occasions & I'm over it. One too many times have I sat & watched her attentively attend to customers who come in after me. Knowing a patron's name is not nearly enough when said patron feels blatantly ignored in the process of trying to patronize this establishment. I will not be back for this reason alone.

It really was just meh.. I had high hopes for this place after seeing one of their chefs on chopped, but it was a complete let down. My martini, water and soup was good, other than that nothing was impressive. Won't go back for sure. But the service was great.

I initially planned to do to go but it was really quiet and the staff was kind so I decided to eat in. I got the spicy lamb wrap and shrimp fried rice. The service was quick and food was great. Great portions too

The his restaurant has been on my bucket list for many years. It was worth the wait. We went for a quiet Saturday lunch. The food was delicious.

Edited my review based on service experience. I’d give this place 10 stars if I could. I’ve been going here regularly for about 8 years. It’s incredible. Easily the best Chinese food I’ve ever had. Recommend very, very highly. My favorite restaurant in Louisville.

Awesome food and great friendly service..

First time for my daughter and I. She took me for an early Mother's Day dinner. Food was delicious. Katera our server was awesome. The hostess was kind enough to take our picture too. I recommend the Mongolian beef!!

By far the best Chinese restaurant I have ever been too!

Apps (won tons, beef satay, mussels) and Vietnamese Coffee were great. Thoroughly enjoyed. However, my entree (shrimp scallops, mussels) was overcooked and impossible to chew - the seafood was the consistency of a pencil eraser. I wish I was exaggerating. Probably a one time occurrence but I left hungry and disappointed.

We ordered the beef satay (10/10) minced lamb lettuce wraps (8.5/10) Mussels (10/10) Goat cheese and crab wontons (6.5/10, needs more crab) and the mahi mahi over vermicelli noodles (8/10) EVERYTHING is full of flavor. Super impressed. OH! And the Caipirinha is fantastic. Strong too.

We ordered the five spice Shrimp appetizer, hot and sour soup, Malaysian curry (chicken) and kung Pao chicken. All the dishes were delicious. We ordered extra spicy and they were spicy as well. A great Chinese restaurant if you are looking for good food. Ohh they are priced quite reasonably as well.

The food is not very good. I have had better Chinese food at the mall. The service is average at best.

Food was bland. Tasted like they boiled all the ingredients rather than it being a stir fry. Vegetables were undercooked and nothing was seasoned. Automatic 20% gratuity tip Never again.

After placing a take-out order the server suggested I stay in my car and he would bring it out to me. THATS SERVICE.

I had my Mom's 100th birthday party at August Moon on July 29, 2023. The food, service, etc. was fantastic!!! Yandi and Staff went above and beyond the call of duty to ensure the event was a raging success!!! Thank you from the bottom of my heart🤎. We will always, extol the virtues of August Moon!!!

carry out was ready on time. everything was correct as ordered. food was plentiful, fresh, and tasty.

This used to be a go to for excellent Chinese food…a cut above the usual. Not having been there in the past couple of years, we went with friends on a Thursday evening. Place was not busy and service was terrible. I chalked that up to the service experience we’ve all come to expect after Covid. But the food was truly horrible, server got the order wrong and pretty much disappeared due to the arrival of a 12-top. Nothing about the evening was pleasant even when paying our check. The wrong table showed up on our tab and the person trying to close us out acted like it was our fault. Won’t go back.

First time here, and it was so good! I shared a chicken satay with peanut sauce appetizer with my dinner companion. It was so delicious. For my main, I had scallops with Malaysian curry. My friend had shrimp with walnuts. We both ended up taking home a good portion of our main dish. My leftovers were almost as good when I reheated & finished them off later. I will definitely come back. Next time, I want to try the General Chicken.

I have been coming to August Moon for over 20 years and have always loved it. Our dining experience tonight, was absolutely awful. Our service was pitiful. We were never checked on once our meal arrived, received no refills on our drinks, were greeted after 10 minutes, very rudely, in which our waitress simply asked if we were ready to order. We hadn’t even ordered our drinks yet. The food was mediocre at best. We waited over 20 minutes for someone to bring our bill, and only did once I complained to the manager. Meanwhile, our waitress was sitting at the bar, flirting with two male patrons. The manager apologized for the poor service. Offered no compensation of any sort. Needless to say, this has left a very poor taste in our mouth and we will likely not be back. It is very sad and unfortunate to see a restaurant that I have loved for so long, deteriorating.

We were seated outside and our server was great.

This is a lovely restaurant. We enjoyed the pork dumplings, ribs, chicken egg roll, tempura shrimp and the chicken in the mango-passion fruit sauce. The food was delicious. The shrimp were huge. The sauces were light and very tasty. Our new favorite. And the free parking lot was very much appreciated.

Excellent sweet and sour chicken! They only had two servers, but ours was quick and attentive. Never waited too long. Very nice decor and very relaxing atmosphere

Food was so good! We got chicken fried rice and general tso’s chicken as well as pan fried dumpling for an appetizer. There was also a live singer and she was fantastic. Highly recommend!

Three of us decided to give August Moon a try, and we're pleasantly surprised not only by the food, but the impeccable service! We all tried various apps and first flavors from soups to dumplings... the soups we found to be pretty good, while dumplings and wontons were average. While sampling those we each got different house cocktails, and all three were wonderful. Would definitely recommend giving one a try! For the main courses, the food was prepared wonderfully, much more so than the first flavors... both meats and veggies were cooked perfectly. Spice level was definitely there in some of the spicy dishes, to be expected, but didn't overpower the flavor. Fish was cooked absolutely perfect and pillowy soft. Service was some of the best I've had recently. Very attentive, personable, and really cared about our dining experience.

I don't think I got the dish I ordered. The egg drop soup didn't have much egg in it and I'd say was slightly overcooked. The prices were inexpensive!!! There was a singer sitting against the my wall. There is was so much noise and poor acoustics. I couldn't tell when sge was singing. The service was friendly but spotty. I had to ask for utensils twice. They didn't refill my water glass. I think I'd find another Chinese restaurant to try in Louisville KY. A good time was had by all even so! The amount of food was plentiful and prices were low.

One of the best upscale Chinese restaurants in Louisville. Lots to choose from with dishes that abound with flavor. Attractive decor and good service make this a place to stop for a tasty and relaxing Chinese meal. Outside seating available. Overlooking Beargrass Creek. During busy times a reservation is recommended. Visited again 1/23 and again had a wonderful meal in a relaxed atmosphere. Grouper was good. Would have liked a larger piece however.

We tried August Moon for the first time and thought it was just "okay." The food was fresh and seemed healthier than most Chinese fast food but, for the price, I'd much prefer P.F. Chang's. Compared to them, the prices are very similar but the quality isn't. I wouldn't go back here but others may enjoy it. The dining room is nice and modern with a small bar and great selection of wines. Staff was really friendly and the service was fast. For a Thursday evening at 7:30pm, they were nearly empty. Two entrées cost us $36 before gratuity and they came in the traditional Chinese to-go boxes. I expected more for the price.

1st time. Exellent all round. Server "Katara" so attentive. Everything so tasty and hot.

Arrived just after 6pm Saturday Oct. 22. Sat in back right table. Waitress did not greet us until almost 6:30. Gave her our full order drink/s appetizers, and entrees because we needed to leave by 7:15pm. Soup and appetizer came promptly, but I ordered egg drop and was served won ton. Soup was warm not hot. Main entrees came at 7:15pm. We noticed several other tables with more attentive servers that'd lots of positive interactions and received their food 30 minutes before us even though they were seated 30 minutes after us. My main entree was tempura shrimp. It was on the cold side of warm. Tasteless. Actually it was a bland tempura breading that came off, smothered in sweet and sour sauce. A very poor dish. So I got the wrong soup, it was not hot, and I got an even colder entree. Wife had similar horrible food. And service was very poor and slow. It was our server, because other diners did not have similar issues. After receiving check and putting my card out, after 15 minutes the server still had not come back to collect it. I had to walk up to end of bar and give it to her. We left at 7:45pm: one hour and 45 minutes after we were seated. Other diners that nite probably had better experiences because their servers were eager to please and attentive. Our food must have sat in kitchen for 20 or so minutes before our server brought it to table. Plus she brought me wrong soup. What a nightmare.

I was disappointed this trip with my food here. The chicken with cashews was bland and tasteless. I was hoping for a flavorful meal, and it did not hit the mark. The sweet and sour soup was not great, and the shrimp fried rice was fine, but not what we hoped for. Still trying to find good Asian food in Louisville.

I ordered the Wok Seared Salmon with vegetables for lunch, and it didn't disappoint. It had a nice crust without being crunchy or overdone, and it was well seasoned. The vegetables were tender but not mushy, and the sauce gave them a nice flavor. Contrary to the name, I didn't think the tomatoes were spicy, but they tasted good, so no complaints. I took off a star because the service was slow without much attention from our server, but we were having a meeting, so he may have been trying to respect that.

The BEST CALAMARI I've ever tasted, and their pureed blood orange cocktail with vodka was to die for!

We have always loved the food an atmosphere. However they have increased their prices so we are looking for other resturants.

Amazing food! Just watch that mustard, really potent stuff :)

Ordered takeout. Food was tasty but I ordered ground lamb with eggplant and basil and they only sent eggplant+basil, no lamb. Go back to look and see they are both on menu. Lamb is a signature dish. Maybe need to clarify with customer to avoid this confusion when they call.

Excellent service, very nice atmosphere/decor

Food was ok, service was awful at least for us. Other tables seemed to have very good service. Very pricy. I got a lemongrass flavored fish in a coconut milk broth, that tasted neither like lemongrass or coconut milk and those that know those flavors, they can be pretty hard to miss even in a small quantity. Very disappointing and I will never be back. Much better food in other places for less.

Very disappointed. I was looking forward to going here after reading that it was the best Chinese restaurant in Louisville. No way. The food was just ok. The service was horrible. When we first entered, there was no one to greet people coming in. We waited about 5 minutes before a waitress came and seated us. She was very rude during the entire meal. An appetizer was ordered and did not come until after our entrees had been served. I will never go back.

DEEE-lishoius!!! I can’t even tell how amazing this place is. Warm, welcoming, and even though they’re short staffed, so attentive. Doing a happy dance every time I come to August Moon. They are the real MVP’s!!

The cashew chicken all those sounds boring is amazing. Also the Lamb lettuce wrap appetizer is quite yummy and a good size portion...

The atmosphere is really nice and my friends really enjoyed thier food. Personally I did not and ill explain why. I ordered the sweet and sour chicken. When it came out it looked delightful and the aroma was great. Once I noticed the crispy golden brown battered chicken flooded with sauce my heart sunk. Some pieces of the chicken that didn't get caught in the pool of sweet and sour sauce were crispy. Never drown anything crispy with sauce, it makes it way to soggy and the breading just soaked all the sauce in. Put about 1/4 of the sauce in or on the side. I didn't order sweet and sour chicken soup. Also the pot stickers were a little soggy on the bottom. My friends calamari was right on point and delicious and so was the short ribs.

This hidden gem is honestly the highest quality restaurant in Louisville that maintains a mainly Asian-fusion cuisine. This restaurant, tucked away as it is on Lexington Rd past Grinstead, is a quiet and relaxing location to take loved ones. Service is very courteous and the very high quality of food is so affordable.

I came here for lunch and had the goat cheese and crabmeat wonton and singapore style vermicelli. Everything was delicious! I also loved the atmosphere, very calming, with the patio looking out onto a forest.

Wow. We have been searching for good war su gai since our favorite spot closed over 15 years ago. Best spring (looked like an egg roll to me) roll I've ever had. Will be back! Service was good we came around 3pm.

August Moon has an amazing atmosphere (work lunch, Dinner, kid friendly, etc….) & it’s well priced also. The food is delicious with tons of multiple options to choose from and it’s in a great location in town I recommend August Moon to everyone.

Watched a chopped episode and i had to try the chef out. Awesome Awesome!! Fantastic drinks and entrees. Main courses were top notch. Kat kept us happy. Highly recommended

Beautiful, elegent interior with lots of light, extensive menu, wonderful service. I loved the martini I ordered, just one of a long list of creative choices. Then I chose a seafood dish with scallops, shrimp, and mussels. All were done to perfection, and perfect for my high protein, low carb goals. (I know, I cheated with the martini, but it was worth it!) This was my first visit, but I will definitely be back.

This restaurant is well overrated and overpriced. It is not nearly as good as I would’ve expected from a restaurant that I have heard nothing but praises about. However, the service was decent.

Egg rolls are top notch Best Hot and sour soup in the city

Casual setting, polite service, nice menu but food left much to be desired. The Panko Calamari was in a stick form with unusual lack of texture. As others have commented more like a cheese stick? . The. Mahi Mahi was good but buried in vegetables. The chicken was rather tough and over seasoned. Expected more!

Best Chinese food in Louisville

I only have 1 bad thing to say. Overall, the food is very good and our server was great. I ordered the tempura shrimp. It was terrible! Not much of a tempura flavor, but the worst complaint is the breaded shrimp was served in a sauce that filled the bowl. So the shrimp was so soggy, it was terrible. I should have sent it back, but didnt. The General's chicken was very good and so were other dishes we had. Overall, a nice place to have dinner!

What a surprise this place was! Food and cocktails were excellent, atmosphere with a beautiful singing lady was spectacular, my wife thought she was better than the original artist. Staff works very hard to satisfy their customers. This restaurant seems like a local, neighborhood treasure to us.

This place, from food, outstanding customer service, to atmosphere it's always grand at the Bistro. Thus far for being out-of -towners, my husband and I have visited three times and not once have we had a bad experience. We really enjoy it here.

Superb service with quiet outdoor dining perfect for lunch

Excellent venue with a large deck in the back for outdoor dining. The lighting is subtle and perfect enough to be able to see your food. If you like Malaysian Asian fusion food this is your place. I've lived all over the world eating Chinese food in places you'd never expect! And this one was in the top five of my best Chinese meals. I'm also a Chinese cook using Ken Hom's Chinese cookery. Everything was cooked to perfection and all the right amounts. The service was brilliant! Our waitress was impeccable her name is Mai. The place is very popular and has been at the same site in Louisville Kentucky for some time now. Prices were reasonable, the tea was incredible, I had Jasmine but there are five different tea possibilities on the menu. The dessert was carrot cake, obviously from a dessert company that ships frozen food. And yet it was outstanding. Take the kids the family your neighbors your coworkers your best friends and enjoy a real feast!
