Very good food, in an unassuming spot!

Music great, space is eclectic and small business centered. I love the energy. Now for the show stopper: the food. Aromatic, spicy, beautiful. A tucked away powerhouse of flavor in the heart of downtown. Please add this in your rotation.

This establishment is truly an exotic gem nestled within the constant hustle and bustle of downtown Miami. It takes you out of the usual Latino/Caribbean culinary atmosphere that is prevalent all throughout the Miami metropolitan area. Trust me...Bali Cafe will take your taste buds on a faraway journey to the tropical flavors of Indonesia where you will experience scrumptiously season meats and vegetables marinaded in East Asian flavors with a hint of coconut and spice. You can tell all of the dishes are made with love and home-cooked passion. Also the service and hospitality is impeccable. The place is quite tiny though, so arrive at the right times or take it to-go. Bali Cafe is one of my favorite places to dine when I am in the Downtown area.

The food is amazing ! Must go to check out this Indonesian food ! A Little gem in Downtown. I have been going for a decade now. The price used to be good but now with the COVID it’s getting expensive. It’s still a good place to go ! I recommend 😋 Update 2 years later This used to be one of my favorite indonesian restaurant but the quality of this place has declined since the last past years. I had to take off 2 stars. It bothers me they use reusable chopstick. Not hygienic these days.

Food was very good. The decor was very reminiscence of Indonesia and the seating was very comfortable. Had the redang and the satay. The peanut sauces used were very thick. However the highlight was the eel and we cleaned it out. I would also recommend the lychee tea as it was cool and refreshing.

When I Google bali cafe their restaurant pops up and under is the - order online- on it. I clicked it. Wheni went to go pick up my food they told me they don't do online orders. I tried to show them thay on Google it says that they can orderonline... instead of listening to me the lady (who is the owner) starts yelling at me and explaining that they don't are online orders. I said I understand and try to explain to her and the other employees there that it says you can onGoogle. They both start yelling and laughing and just was acting so rude to a customer who frequently would go there.

This is one of the best Indonesian spots I’ve been to. I came here when I first moved to Miami about three years ago. I go in person and order on Uber eats all the time (although they haven’t been excepting orders lately). The Laksa and Ketoprak are my most ordered items. I have yet to have a bad dish here. Everyone I take here becomes as obsessed as I am. 100/10 recommend

Absolutely incredible Indonesian food! We loved the welcoming and cozy space, and every dish we tried was well-seasoned and beautifully plated. The Rendang Sapi and Ketoprak were particular standouts. Be sure to request a side of sambal, which added a lot of flavor and spice that complemented the food wonderfully.

Such a good spot. It’s a great place to sit and eat. I’m sure the takeout is good too. The sushi is so, so good. Very fresh and their seaweed salad and simple salad are both really refreshing. Great vibes, kind people, and delicious food. Highly recommend coming here if you’re in the area. 🙏🏻

Incredible food here. Love the Nasi Goreng special and the Ikan Pesmol/white fish. The salad that comes with the fish is amazing! The dressing on the salad is some of the best I’ve ever had. The vegetables were very fresh as well. Saw some older comments that said they were cash only but we were able to pay credit card now. If I lived in Miami I’d be back here all the time. Service was nice too.

This is the Best and ONLY Indonesian food in Miami! The owners are from the island of Java and they make the best Indonesian food i’ve eaten outside of Indonesia! A must visit when you come to Miami!

My favorite restaurant in Miami

Bali a cafe has been open for 25yrs and I can’t believe we just discovered it around the block from our place downtown. The food was exquisite and the service made us feel right at home. Ask for recommendations on the Indonesian dishes, we were very pleasantly surprised by the flavors and quality of the food. Portion sizes are generous, the presentation was great and the value was incredible at under $20 a dish. We’re adding this spot to our list of downtown staples.

Hidden gem (maybe not so hidden) in downtown Miami with authentic and amazing Indonesian food. Got the nasi goreng special and it was incredible (see photo).

So happy I can across this fine little gem on my walk through downtown. All the food is very fresh, the restaurant is clean and the staff are friendly. If you want cold food I would highly recommend their spicy tuna roll and the seaweed salad -- their sushi roll are all very good. As for hot dishes. don't come here without ordering the Rendang Sapi (beef), it's so good !!! I've eaten both takeout and in the restaurant and both times it has been good. I am very hesitant with takeout because I feel like it is never as good, however, they did a very good job packing my orders and keeping the quality of the food the same. I think there is some confusion that they only take cash here but that is not true, they accept credit card as well! Soooooo, whenever you're in the mood for a casual good quality meal with very generous portions without breaking the bank, then you need to come to Bali Cafe!

First time experiencing Indonesian cuisine, hot tea because the vibe is right there ! Complementary salad so fresh and delicious. The main entree was so tasty cut of meat (beef) super tender and a nice kick or spicy, you can taste the coconut Milk everything was flavorful .

Very good food and very good service. It is nice inside, and they have several different hot sauces if you wish to try, including one with shrimp paste (very good flavor).

Love how it’s decorated, small place that you could walk by 100 times and not know it’s there. Phenomenal food at good price. Dragon roll and nasi goreng special. Service is usually lacking but that’s not why you go.

Best introduction to Indonesian food

Finally found great authentic Indonesian food in this part of the world! Staying in Miami for a week and I came here every lunch time (except Sunday as they’re closed). I tried almost all Indonesian dishes, all delicious! Will always come back here every time i am in Miami.

Hole in the wall, but Best Sushi in town! Always fresh, always tasty! I come here whenever I'm in Miami! Try the Bali Dancer Combo with the salad! Their salad dressing is amazing! The seafood salad was also super good. Amazing quality, great service, well priced. A hard to find jewel in Miami.

I’ve been to Indonesia. Have Indonesian relatives and have had plenty of Indonesian food. Bali cafe was excellent. We got many different dishes, beef, chicken, fish, salads. Everything was fantastic . The service was great as was the ambiance. Will most definitely be back and highly recommend.

Great Indonesian Food. I was here today tried Nasi Rames and my colleague tried Nasi Goreng. See photos. The beef rendang tastes great. sambel terasi tastes yummy enak deh... I always worried going to Indonesian restaurants in the US since I am Indonesian and has certain expectations but the dish I tried today is not disappointing and really taste Indonesian. It is more Javanese style I must say, but its very tasty. Recommended for the 2 in the menu. Space inside the restaurant is quite tight, but still okay. 😊 Friendly service

Wow! Great food, clean restaurant, cool small restaurant atmosphere, waitress was very nice and quick. The chef is amazing. Must get the Noreng Bento Box and some sushi. I've never had Indonesian food before, it is wonderful! You must eat here if you're in downtown Miami!

I love Bali Cafe! It’s Muslim-owned and I love to support. My friend and I go back all the time for a cute lunch date. The owner is super sweet and the menu has so many options!!! I was so surprised to see the various ice cream flavors they had which were Taro, Jackfruit, Avocado, Mango. So good 10/10, highly recommend if you’re looking to try authentic Indonesian cuisine

Este es un comentario q me da mucha lastima hacer 🙁 pero lo hago como una crítica constructiva, ya q por mas de 10 años ha sido uno de mis restaurantes predefinidos, desafortunadamente el restaurante esta infestado de cucarachas 🪳 llegue con mi esposo y me dirigí al bano y habian 3 cucarachas 🪳 cuando sali muy asustada en el corredor y en las paredes de la cocina muchisimas pequenitas , inmediatamente le comento a la sra q atiende y ella muy tranquila pisa 2 que estaban en el piso y cuando llego a la mesa a comentarle a mi esposo varias pequenitas en el piso debajo de la mesa 🥹 por supuesto salimos corriendo muy tristes por q nos encanta la comida pero esto realmente,atenta contra la salud y el bienestar de los clientes .

The host lady is so kind and friendly. The noodles were delicious and non strong-taste, and the warm soup was so good, and the rice dish was good with various side dishes. If I have time, I'm going to visit again!

Everything here tastes authentic. All dishes are like trips through a festival of flavors. Highly recommended. Pd: Sushi is also good, fresh with good portions.

Very good Indonesian food. We tried rendang and opor, and they tasted amazing. Unfortunately, we came in during rush hour, place is limeted and they only have one server. So the service is not as good as we're hoping for.

This used to be one of my favorite sushi and salad restaurants,the quality of this place has declined today I bought the Asian seafood Salad , they didn’t give me the shrimps , I paid 25 dollars to enjoy this salad at home and did not enjoy anything, I called them to report the problem, and their response was, next time we will give you double the shrimp, there will NOT be a second time.

We stopped in for late lunch and we’re pleasantly welcomed with our luggage from the airport. The ambience is intimate and authentic Indonesian feeling. The food tasted fresh and was presented well.

I am from bali island indonesia and when i found this cafe i fall in love with it, the design interior which has a statue of balinese art, like rangda, garuda and so on make me feels like home, i ordered the bento nasi goreng which has rendang and opor ayam, the taste is so good! And my friend order ketoprak taste similar like home, if there is 1 more star i will give it more to this cafe. I will be back again for sure!

The best Indonesian restaurant in downtown Miami🤩🤩

This was an experience. 100% recommend the egg noodles with chicken. Add the green and red spicy sauce and mix it through. It'll be spicy and you will sweat but it's worth it. One of the best things I've had.

For everyone that has ever stayed in Bali - and I lived there for more than 3 years already - this place does not transport any of the Balinese atmosphere at all. The waiter was neither Balinese nor Indonesian and besides the sculptures on the wall at the entrance this place does not look anything like Balinese. And the food tasted good, but it seemed like the owner forgot the basics of Balinese / Indonesian cuisine. The gado-gado was missing the typical rice cake, the tahu goreng came in way too big pieces, the (self-made) sambal is (way too much) based on fish sauce for a restaurant suitable for vegetarians / vegans. And the worst part: I had a hard time on the toilet after eating here today. Cannot recommend, as much I wished.

Great little place we found while out and about in downtown. Food was fantastic! It's the first time we tried Indonesian food. Ordered the Laksa, Rendang Sapi, Opor Ayam Chicken Curry, and Nasi Goreng Special. Everything was delicious! My favorite was the Laksa. The waiter was great as well!

Agradable restaurante, pequeño, con el aire acondicionado excesivamente alto. Pero con buena comida y buenos precios. Ojo al añadir salsas...son muy picantes.

Fantastic place, strongly recommend! We tried the Gado Gado and Chicken Dumplings for the small plates and the Tofu Poke entree, everything was quickly available and delicious!

Food was delicious!! I ordered a hearty soup. Their portions are surprisingly large. My friend got a bento box and it was honestly twice as big as I thought it would be.

Had this place on my wish list for a few months. Finally had an opportunity as I happened to be in downtown Miami, staying within walking distance. Warm and friendly, and my partner and I felt immediately welcome. Of course, we couldn't make up our minds, so ordered the Lontong Cap Go Meh (which here was a mix of the rendang and opor ayam [chicken curry]), and the soto betawi (Batavia soup - "Batavia" was the old Dutch colonial name for Jakarta). The soup was delicious! And rich. It was served with rice, fried peanuts, and chopped tomato and cucumber. There were maybe two or three emping (flattened and fried melinjo seeds) *in* the soup, so they were a bit soggy by the time we ate the food. I dunno, I was expecting some crispy bits. But you do get some garlic krupuk alongside, to sort out the texture issues, lol. The lontong was also delicious, but it was the rendang in that dish that starred - super, super tender. Unbelievable. We were too full to have dessert. But I see they don't have gula melaka on the menu though - if they had that, I would definitely have had dessert :( When I return, I'm ordering from the cafe sets and having all the rendang for myself. No wait, maybe I'll have the Nasi Rames. Or the Ketoprak. No, what about Gado-gado? (Sorry, I only thought to take pics half-way through the meal, thus the half-empty soup dish.)

I was staying a few blocks away, so I decided to try something different as I didn't expect to find Indonesian food here in Miami. All I ended up getting poke which isn't really Indonesian. It was the best poke I ever had in my life bar none.

Came with friends to try out indonesian food. Ordered sarang burung drink for 13$. Came only in a small wine glass with few jelly inside and 3 lychee!!! Very dissapointing and over price!! The food… was ok… rendang was ok. The meat was kind of shredded. Not like usual rendang. Maybe its their version of rendang. Fried rice is ok. Sorry to say its not my fav indonesian food.

Came from Colorado where there is an embarassing (but understandable) lack of Indonesian cuisine. The bakmi ayam was sooo yummy & filling, so was the es campur. My favorite of it all though was the gado-gado, the peanut sauce + rica was literally mouthwatering. Pricey but so worth it to get a taste of home!

With an Indonesian Fiancé, this place is a must. She probably gets takeout from here once a week on average. We ate in just a week ago and the food and service were both great!
