I came on a whim never having tried Afghani food. Food came out within minutes! The staff was friendly and pleasant.

I'm usually eating at lunch which is sparsely attended, and thus staffed, but everyone is quite nice. My most recent lunch, Mantu, "ground beef and onion-filled dumpling, topped with fresh homemade yogurt, meat sauce and dried mint" was the best thing I ate that week. I imagine that one weekend the large dining room is crowded with families.

My family and I have been dining here for over a decade now. The food is always flavorful and the staff are friendly. The boneless chicken thighs are tender and delicious. Everything was hot and fresh. The Afghan bread is also really good. There was a party going on in the private room of the restaurant and they had some great Afghan and Bollywood songs playing. Great experience every time

My wife called to find out the status of her order. Someone by the name of AJ picked up the phone treated her unfairly. I was listening to the conversation and he was very rude and my wife was in tears. Our experience in the past was impeccable but one bad apple can ruin all our past experiences.

First time trying and it was delicious! Loved the sauce and the atmosphere was great. People were so nice and friendly. They were so accomodating to my kid. They do have a kids menu, but my son and family loved the palau Kabobs and the rice.

Originally I thought it would be only a 100 guests that would show up for my grandma's funeral dinner but the number of people went over 200. Mr. Reza covered it with such a great deal and respect, we really appreciate his efforts and hospitality. This really is the best Afghan restaurant in the east coast region, good food, great service and very friendly staff and it's very clean

Excellent food taste and quality!

I ordered beef kabob and many sides. The beef kabob was undercooked and looked bleached. It was not edible. The color of the beef was off and suspicious looking. We called to complain about the quality of the food because we did not want to get sick and we wanted an explanation. The man on the phone hung up not once, not twice, not three times, but FOUR times. He did not want to hear about our complaint and did not offer an explanation. This is an incredibly disrespectful act to a customer and I would recommend no one visit this establishment!

Way too overpriced and it just sucks. Not worth the money at all. The food is decent and there is just too much noise made by the waiters in the kitchen as it’s an open kitchen. The food is so little for the price. Wouldn’t recommend at all.

The place might have mice and cockroach problem as it smells bad near the kitchen and I got sick after I had dinner. Also, the waiters are angry and rude.

Will not go there again and I don't recommend this at all!!! Our meal was $150 and he took a 70 tip from my card without asking me The food was just fine, but unfortunately they don't know how to do there business. They added a 20 or 25% tip to our bill which was really disappointing. Lol😂

Don’t order online I order online and they charge me for the food, ofter two days they charge me again the same price. That is why I give them one star.

Hosted a family friends wedding! Server helped us promptly and ensured the wedding moved at a great pace, crucial during events. Food was hot and delicious, refills were prompt, and preparation was clean. Would come even when not attending an event!

The customer service is unmatched and the food is amazing. Reza Jaan and his crew catered my wedding in Bealeton, VA early this month. Every single person cannot stop raving about how amazing the food was. I cannot thank this restaurant enough. I am a proud Afghan and I am so pleased with the food and team. Delicious. Quiet. Pleasant service. Sunny little romantic booths.

These people act like the taleban, no welcome, no sympathy, very rude to willing customers. We wanted to pay with credit but they only accept cash. Instead of being nice and cordial about their cash only policy, they were extremely harsh with rude remarks. We left immediately and canceled our order. Avoid this place if you want to be treated with basic human decency.they are steeling tax money,they do collect taxes.

My family has been coming here for decades, we've gone there for dinner, weddings, birthdays, funeral dinners and we just used them for my mother's funeral dinner. The service is top notch, the Afghani food is best in our region, the price is very fair and the atmosphere makes you feel like you're at a family members home. Thank you Reza and Ajmal Jan. The food was just ok. The rice wasn’t awesome, the lamb in the rice was all fat and tissue. The qabuli palow wasn’t really qabuli they just put raisins and carrots on top of their regular rice. The chopan kebab was fine, not great. It was all under seasoned. The mantu and bolani were pretty good. The service was fine, the atmosphere was awkward.

Very nice place for families aswell

They have stopped their lunch buffet that we used to love. But almost everything is on the menu, and if not, I ordered the kadoo (pumpkin) as a side dish and they were quick to accomodate my request.

Hands down the best afghan food in the area. They catered my brothers wedding and everybody loved it! Will definitely always be coming back to cater and eat here! It's an awesome event area as well.

Food is delicious, the service could be better, the atmosphere was Ok.

Delicious food. The scallion dumplings with flavorful sauce and a mint yogurt drizzle is yummy. My fav dish is the lamb palu which has tender lamb with lots of flavorful rice with cooked carrot shavings and raisins. Laid back service. Ask about dessert, the offerings have changed. The rice pudding is light, with sprinkled crushed pistachios.

I tried Qabuli Palau and Kabob. It neither tastes nor looks like Qabuli Palau. I will never go back. It’s a disrespect to the delicious Afghan Cuisine.

Very rude , disrespectful !!! I came there from a far place, after I called them and confirmed they’re opened. I arrived, I found it closed but there’re some people inside, I tried to talk to them but they refused !!! even when I called them they hanged up after they heard my voice.

This restaurant they don’t know how to cook. The rice was not cooked properly the kebab was cooked. It was not ready it had blood inside the meat if you guys go over there waste time and waste money

It was my first time there and I will NEVER return. I have never had worse service at a restaurant in my life I’m extremely disappointed an embarrassed by what happened on Saturday 9/3. After sitting down no one took our order for 15-20 minutes. When our server returned he simple asked “you ready” and had a very unpleasant look on his face. The food came quickly but after that our server was no where to be found. For over an hour we sat there and he never past our table once. Our water was empty since before the food came out, we even wanted to order dessert but our waiter seemed to be hiding or something. After getting frustrated I decided to get up and look for someone to give us our bill, and walked to the front multiple times where it took me 10 minutes to get anyone’s attention. I had to say excuse me 3 or 4 times, and other customers were starting to look at me. At one point we even thought about leaving without paying especially when they were laughing and chatting in the back. After finally getting the bill as we are about to leave we see him greeting another customer smiling kissing their cheek and providing great service to them. However as soon as we walked in we received nothing but unpleasant service.

We're visiting family from abroad, and I ALWAYS make sure we have afghani. Several great restaurants have closed since the pandemic, and so I was thrilled to find Bamian restaurant. We had a very private nook, and the food was delicious. The staff were friendly and kind. We'll look forward to returning - highly recommend!

This restaurant provided some of the worst customer service that I have personally experienced at a business. I attended a women’s party here that was planned months in advance. From the beginning the customer experience was exceptionally bad as the staff was rushing guests to finish eating before most folks even began, and were literally kicking guests out the door!!! Towards the last hour they were even telling guests to verbatim ‘GET OUT’! Now I don’t want to assume why they treated anyone this way BUT unfortunately it was completely unwarranted and actually disheartening to see people who paid a good sum to throw a beautiful event be treated like they were a hinderance, unwanted , and with such disrespect. I would never recommend anyone throw an event here. Unfortunately , they take advantage of the fact that they are one of the few halaal banquet venues in the local area ….so please BEWARE!!!

How tf does a restaurant “run out of food”? I was told to leave with me and my family cuz they ran out.. how does that happen?

We attended a ladies party here last night. This location has the worse customer service that I have ever seen in my life. The staff were horrible. I ask for a glass and he asked me to check my table for a clean one, after confirming there were none; he walked around each table and finally got me one. No clue why he could not just go to the back and get me a clean one. As a guest I felt unwanted through the night. The servers were not friendly, welcoming or understanding. Definitely would not recommend this location to anyone who is trying to have a special occasion as they make you feel like you are not wanted. Customers treated like burden throughtout the night. al the guest witnessed and were not impressed. Exactly at 12am they started kicking people out. Horrible.

One of the staff pushed out the kids; they overcharged and would not change color of napkins for our event until we called someone he knows, even though I was the paying customer. To make matters worse, he said to me, “I’m only doing this because of…….(the cousin whom we called).

The best Afghan food in the area.

They are pushing people to pay the tip. پول تیپ را میگه صد فی‌صد نوشته کنید که میگه ما از خدمات خود ۱۷ فی‌صد پول می‌گیریم

The food was really good and a bit expensive but the sitting arrangement needs a lot of change. No privacy here. Staff math is a little low. Over all its good experience. They can get more customers if they make changes in the daily customers area.

Although they had a big event in the restaurant. They still managed to serve excellent food, and have good service.

Went there today while dinning in and received a true Afghan hospitable experience. The salmon kabob for fellow pescatarians is a excellent option melts in your mouth. The server was humble and a great host. Look forward to going again.

The food was good, but the service could have been better.

The restaurant is generally acceptable. cleanness is good. The staff is not friendly. Good grilled chicken and rice dishes. I didn't like the grilled meat. Hummus is good. Prices are high. I did not like the way the invoice was written because it did not show the prices for each item. It is written manually . I hope that the staff will be professional and smile in the face of the customer.

Worst service, full of attitude for strangers/outsiders.

I love the food at Bamian. Everything was delicious. It's also very convenient to the Rachel M. Schlesinger Concert Hall on the Alexandria campus of the Northern Virginia Community College. I like to go to this place after singing with the New Dominion Chorale. We gave a concert last Saturday, April 29th, 2023.

This was my first visit, very nice, and delicious food, I came from Sydney Australia.

Rice was smelly, they put mixed vegetables on the top of Ashak which is completely WRONG especially corn was in it. Ashak's sauce made of split chickpeas not mixed vegetables. Plus they should have put yogurt on the top of ashak not SALAD DRESSING. I threw away both so wasted my money. If I could I would give zero star.

Went there for iftar yesterday. Food was old and the kabobs looked like they were a couple days old. Nothing was fresh. Very disappointed

I went for iftar on Friday for 2 ppl it cost $73.00. The variety of buffet was ok not great. The food was Cold no warmers under the servicing dishes. No Drinks included especially w iftar only water and cold unstrong black tea. Diet soda was $6. The restaurant was nice and kept well. W good parking. Otherwise was a C experience.

We had an amazing Iftar experience at this restaurant. Unlike other similar restaurants, the owner is not driven by greed during Ramadan and does not add more tables and seats to accommodate more people. This place prioritizes convenience and customer experience.

I went with a group of sisters for an Iftar during Ramadan. The seating was a little crowded due to a private event. The selection of food was very tasty for my first time. The owner was nice enough to bring out a plate of Baklava. He was also nice enough to take our group photos. I will return with family.

I got grilled chicken with tomato pepper and onions in a spicy sauce. I enjoyed it. My companion enjoyed a lamb kebab. Many different kebabs on menu. Also starters and other entrees. Very good service.

Another one of my favorites. At my suggestion six of us went to share a meal at the Bamian and everyone was pressed with the food and service and the row of small "private dining rooms" along one wall.

Okay food & Overpriced ... Always choose your own food from the menu ( especially in large gathering) in simple words if you have party of six place order for 4 people it will be enough due serving size but your server will never tell you or guide you cause they are more worried about there automatically added 20+% Tip.

I am very sorry to say that I ordered three meals to take out - qabuli palao, Aushak and sabzi chalow. These are always tasty, so I did not worry and open up the containers before driving home. When I got home and opened the containers, not one of them had even a tiny piece of naan inside. What a shock! Naan is the essence of the Afghan food tradition. If you visit an Afghan home, the treatment of a guest is very important. Even if they have nothing they will give you tea and naan. So how could a restaurant charge over $18 for a qabuli palao and not give a piece of bread? It is an insult. And sabzi chalow, which is a very simple dish, would be so much more appetizing if a small salad and a piece of naan were included. It is not expensive to put a spoonful of salad and a slice of naan in the carry out container, but it shows you respect your customers. This kind of bare-minimum service makes me think the proprietors of the Bamiyan are so busy looking at the bottom line that they have forgotten their own Afghan tradition, where the guest is sent by God and bread is the cultural symbol of welcome.

Bamian Restaurant charge more then there price on mune also they charge for thier service they have the poor quality food and the food was not fresh they charge 18%service charge for serving food and also they tooke 10$ per person as a tip

Dined here again after some years and was very pleased to find that the excellent quality and taste of the restaurant's menu items continues to be maintained. Good variety and choice including vegetarian items.

Just picked up Aushak and Quabili Palaw. So far I tested the Aushak. Oh la la! I love it. I highly recommend them.

Only one waiter was working and he was extremity rude, the food was smelly specially the ground beef Kabab my second time to go there my first experience was similar I thought I might have gone there when the waiter was not having a good day and gave them benefit of doubt. I guess this was my last time to waste my time and money in this place. To top it off they include 20% tip for a service that is worthy of at the most 1% tip .

Their take-out process is confusing, they took me inside I sat down on a chair they bring me the bill I put in my card he returned I signed ........ Why not make it easier 🤔? It didn't worth the money I paid for the Kabob with no side.

Always a good buffet for Afghan. I usually visit at least once a month when I am in this part of town. Service and food are great.

This review is especially for the manager or the owner. We came directly from a funeral today here and set and waited for over one hour until they served water when it was time for lunch. Over about 100 people all together. The place was reserved for 2 hours. My sister had to go in her car to get a bottle of water. For future reference please serve water and put at least a 1/2 gallon of water on each table while everyone is waiting not until the food is ready. Bad customer service.

Disappointed. We ordered morgh (chicken) Kabab, mixed Kabab platter, and bowlawni. I only liked bowlawni from them. Everything else was tasteless.
