I have had dinner here a few times. More than once have I had a bad service experience. But my family and friends and I return because the food and drinks are good. Tonight, we tried to get in and were turned away because we didn't have a reservation. The hostess said they were too busy. However, most of the dining hall was empty. I was served here when the restaurant was far more full in the past. It's very irritating. Call ahead for a reservation, I guess.

Three of us had the strip steak. All three were tough and hard to chew. 2 out of 3 left over half on their plate. The third left 25%. The green beans were LOADED with onions. YUK !!!! The temperature was freezing The a/c was set too low, causing people to put sweaters or coats on Don't think I will be going back, and we live here year round.

Had a very early reservation but well worth it. Great V and GF options. The Samoan stew at half size was huge and very good. Server was knowledgeable and friendly.

After 3 years vegan and 6.5 plant-based, this fine establishment did not disappoint. Just because I wanted to make sure that I made good use of the experience, I wanted to try it all! Being from Central MA I was excited for the variety of fresh seasonal vegetation. The reviews meant that I would be in for fresh-made food that would not be salty and I’m here for it! Being plant-based means quality food that’s healthy so that we can enjoy cocktails and good wine :) We started with the Egg Rolls and Sourdough Bread with Oil. The Lychee Martini was made from a puree and on the sweet side but delicious as ever. Very refreshing! The bread is worth taking home in a paper bag if you don’t finish it. We had some the next day with breakfast eggs and butter. The Tofu Steak and Cauliflower reheats very well the next day and the Mac n Cheese (made vegan by cashew cream) is great but I would have liked more seasoning and more sauce. The noodles were cooked to perfection. My great friend enjoyed the quesadilla. It was crisp and flavorful and not too big but enough for one person. The highlights for me are the friendly and the fresh food. I can see some thinking the food is bland but for those who put health first I give it 10 stars. Everything was so delicious and there were ample dairy free and gluten free options for my sensitive stomach! We drove over all the way from Wiscasset and found out there was an outdoor patio so we called and asked if dogs were allowed: the hostess claimed on the phone that "yes, we allow dogs on the patio", but she neglected to tell us that the patio was closed because of impending rain (it wasn't raining) so our dog had to sit in the car unfortunately. When we arrived the hostess was on the phone and ignored us for 2 minutes; It sounded like a personal call because she said "see you later"before she hung up. Besides the hostess everything was wonderful! Happy to change to 5 star rating next time if I don't see her again.

We've eaten there twice and thoroughly enjoyed both meals. Fantastic food, cocktails, and service. The seasonal, locally sourced focus for the menu makes the food even better and I was just thrilled to have fiddleheads in my chickpea stew when we ate there this spring. The staff are knowledgeable and helpful when dealing with dietary restrictions, easily managing to help our three party members that have dairy issues, celiac disease, and a poultry allergy between them. We hope to enjoy a meal at Bandaloop whenever we get the chance. I just wanted to update this in 2024 to say that I still try to get to Bandaloop whenever I visit family in Maine (sometimes the schedule just doesn't mesh) and this review still stands-- the food is delicious, dietary issues are taken seriously, and the staff has always been wonderful to work with.

We return to Bandaloop every year because it's consistently FANTASTIC! The food is always fresh, inventive, and delicious and the staff is wonderful. Come, sit on the patio, and make sure to order the sourdough. And save room for dessert!

First timers and we’ll definitely be back! Love the location and history. Roomy, comfortable and really interesting. Excellent and friendly service. Food was exceptional. We had the bok choy Cesar, mussels, steak (pictured below), mac n cheese (wow) and scallops. Sit down spots can be hit or miss during the busy season, but this was a definite win.

A varied menu that offers numerous vegan options, of which we were happy to try. Though a mixed menu, the Mac and cheese and tofu steak were some of the best vegan dishes we have had at any restaurant. The service and atmosphere were top notch.

We have been here a couple times and it is a sleeper win of a restaurant. Amazing cocktails, delicious food, and great service. Great options for the kids, too.

Really enjoyed my experience at Bandaloop. The food was fantastic I had the carrot soup and wilted spinach salad as well as the Kailua fudge brownie for dessert. They were somewhat busy when I arrived and seemed to be serving a lot of tables, even midweek. So I would say to expect that and possibly make a reservation. Overall a good experience and nice atmosphere.

Another place that we've talked about going to, but we were never in the area at dinner time to partake. Finally lucked out and got in for an early dinner. The food was fantastic !

My favorite restaurant! Whenever I visit the area, I make sure to carve out time to visit this amazing gem! They have something for everyone, from sirloin & pork to the best vegetarian and vegan dishes!! Every time I bring people, they are just as happy as I am!! From their homemade bread & specialty cocktails to their amazing desserts, FABULOUS!!

One of the best meals I’ve ever had

Our food was outstanding. Our reservation was for 615 in the loft. We were seated promptly and it was fairly quiet when we started our meal. Great selection of foods, everything tasted fresh. Unfortunately the service was a 6 out of 10 at the best. We received our meals in a very timely manner but never checked in on our meals, and we didn’t get any drinks except at the beginning. We ate our entire dinner with empty glasses of drinks. I know he did get busier but even at the end of our meals he didn’t ask how the meal was at all and just handed us a dessert menu.

They must have been having an off night. Food came out slow and service was just okay. The food was luke warm. Our experience in the past was always pleasant but tonight not so much.

Been meaning to go for a while, and heard good things, but wow, far better than I imagined. Although unpretentious in atmosphere and service, the quality of food was over the top from the homemade bread to the entrees, simply superb. Paul, our server, was fantastic- paired a superb wine for my entree and picked out a great port for the end. Thanks for a great dining experience!

Besides the location not being near the water or dock square, this is our favorite restaurant in the area. The food is unique and each dish we've had is delicious. It's the perfect place for someone with allergies or vegan, but they still maintain options for folks who like cheese and meat. Most of the dishes have an Asian/coconut cream type flare. The ambiance inside has a warm, modern farm to table vibe with lots of exposed wood beams and candle like edison bulbs. There's a nice fire place with couches and games and even a train table for kids. The prices are very reasonable, especially for the area. They have a nice cocktail selection and good variety of local craft beers.

This place is a must. Awesome service and atmosphere with the tastiest food that doesn't make you feel guilty after eating. Cheers

So incredibly disappointed with the person who answered the phone on 9/20. I was eager to place an order, but wanted to make sure Bandaloop could accommodate my food allergies. her reply, “I don’t really know much about the ingredients, but I’ll have someone call you back.” But sadly this never happened. I’ll continue to frequent other local restaurants instead as they are happy to accommodate my food allergies. Bandaloop, what a shame- you just lost somebody who would’ve frequented your restaurant.

Visited for the first time on Saturday (9/16). Food was very good, service excellent. The atmosphere *could* be great, except for one thing: The smell of what I can only describe as spoiled fish, bleach and maybe sour vinegar permeated the entire first floor. Both my wife and I smelled it and it was quite strong. We sat in the bar area but it was noticeable everywhere. I hope they can do a "deep cleaning" at some point.

I love Bandaloop and go here often. I love that the menu changes frequently, so I can always try something new. The staff are all friendly and attentive. The patio and bar area are a great place to catch up with girlfriends for a cocktail.

Fabulous meal on 8/30. Had the special, rotini pasta, chicken, garlic, tomatoes. Outstanding. Also had dessert special, lemon mousse, marscapone. Excellent. Highly recommend. 5 stars for service as well.

We are glad to stumble on to this gem! From the hostess, waiter and food surpassed our expectations! It’s not easy finding a vegan option restaurant but one that offers a huge variety and actually taste amazing. Bring middle eastern and Shakhuka being a staple on our table, This meal was way out of this world !!! OMG and the vegan desserts. Thank you for feeding us tasty and delicious food, looking forward to our next visit.

Always delicious, good service, and a nice atmosphere! Got their special vegetarian pasta a couple nights ago and can’t stop thinking about it.

I feel like we got swindled by the good reviews of this place. The service was mediocre. The food was not good. I felt like they fully ran out of salt or something - bland, flavorless polenta fries, quesadillas with giant chunks of almost raw tofu, soup that was actively giving me acid reflux as I was eating it… this was the worst meal we had on our Kennebunkport vacation. I was looking forward to it because we are vegetarian and there are lots of veggie options, but the food just wasn’t good. The ambiance is also weird, very yellow interior with tables that are really spread out. I don’t recommend.

Only eat here if you love amazing food. One of the only places I can consistently order Salmon as it is sushi grade and they can cook it perfectly medium every single time. I could go on but suffice it to say, every dish is dialed in and made with love. The cozy, elevated rustic barn atmosphere is a great place to relax and everyone is always so nice.

Great bartender. Great cocktails. The food was amazing as always. The mussels and egg rolls have been on the menu for years and was so glad to see they were still available and they tasted just as good as I remembered! And the vegan peanut butter cheesecake was to die for.

Gourmet meals for vegans vegetarians and meat eaters. Great drink options too. Such a treat! Totally worth the drive.

We had an amazing meal, from drinks, to apps, to mains, to dessert. We had a mixed group of dietary restrictions and all had incredible food. I ate exclusively off the specials menu and was not disappointed. This will become a regular stop on our trips to Maine!

Can I give 10 stars? We had an absolutely wonderful meal at Bandaloop! The setting is a lovely old barn. Tables are spaced apart so you feel like you can have a private conversation. Cocktails were interesting and they didn’t skimp on the pour! Our appetizer and meals were delicious and the portions were definitely generous, a pleasant surprise! There were tons of gluten free menu options, all clearly marked! Even on the dessert menu, I think 3 of the 5 or 6 choices were gluten free! Service was perfect as well. I cannot wait to return to Bandaloop!

This was our first restaurant we ate at when we moved to Arundel, two years ago. It’s now become our go to date night and birthdays restaurant. We’ve roped in our entire family into loving it. Always amazing and they have long term staff. It’s nice to see familiar faces.

Bandaloop is a gem hiding in plain sight in Arundel. While I have driven past the building many times, I never paid much attention to it. That is until someone I know suggested it. One generally doesn't find this level of dining experience away from the heart of Portland ME. However, here we are. The flavors were all a delight from start to finish, and I will be going back to explore the menu further. A big thank you to the entire staff of Bandaloop for a memorable and delicious experience!

Meats were very good. No one in our party ate any vegetables. My salad was just okay. Waitstaff was great.

What’s the point of driving 40 minutes to get here within your operating hours but you closed early because you don’t have enough customers? Maybe you would have them if your operating hours were more predictable.

This was our first visit on a friends recommendation. The atmosphere of this old building is wonderful with it's large exposed beams and rustic but warn look. It's nicely laid out with a spacious first floor and an attractive second floor dining area. The menu offered a great selection of seafood, meat and vegetarian dishes. We opted for a scallop special and a salmon special of the day. Both were a melt-in-your-mouth experience and were perfectly prepared and delicious. The drinks we ordered were spot-on and icy cold. Going out to eat at Bandaloop is always a wonderful experience. The customer service is remarkable, kind and professional. There are options for everyone's dietary preferences or needs and a great drink menu. The food quality is noticably higher quality than average restaurants. The brussel sprouts are a must for your dinner plans.

Great food, great service, and I love the new location.

Five of us had dinner at Bandaloop on December 10th. One person ordered the daily special mushroom soup, and two people ordered the other daily soup special: apple soup. I and the 5th diner split a wilted spinach salad. We all were impressed with our choices. Three people ordered haddock, one had a pork chop, and I had scallops (a special for the day). We all very much enjoyed our entrees. Our waiter, Paul, was excellent and a great representative for Bandaloop. We all look forward to our next visit to Bandaloop.

Everything was perfectly cooked, seasoned, and portioned. Ambiance and service were flawless also. We can't wait to come back and try more of the menu.

Food was good, but not as good as expected for the prices

Sadly there’s not a zero star rating. Traveled from out of state to reunite with family here. We had dinner here in March and it was a great experience. 4 out of the 7 of us are in the restaurant industry. The menu is unique and eclectic, not your run of the mill basic fare which is what we like and want to support. We had a 5:15 reservation. After being seated, Jessica P pressed us to place our order 3 - 4 times within the first 10 minutes. We were never asked if we had any questions, we were never offered help to explain the menu. On the next attempt to push us to order Jessica told us we should be aware that our table needed to be turned by 7:30. We couldn’t believe the audacity of such a rude comment. This is a dining experience not fast food. We enjoy looking for hidden gems on a menu and we weren’t given a chance to read it. We made impetuous choices on what to order because we were being rushed. The quality of the food unfortunately did not override the rude service. And the food was not as good as we remembered. We finished our meal by 6:30 and left a tip out of kindness because it certainly wasn’t deserved. This experience was more than disappointing. Not sure we would risk it again.

Staff is fantastic, we were helped by both the hostess and the bartender. Great sense of humor by both. Apps were delicious, we had the lentil soup, and the quesadilla. I'm telling you right now, order that quesadilla app. Unsure how they made jalapenos with all seeds have less heat and be sweet, but you're signing yourself up for a good time with that. Meals were unreal. I got the daily special which was pasta with pumpkin, chestnuts, spinach, arugula, sauce, and I added chicken. If this is on the menu, get it. We also had the salmon with crispy potatoes.. I mean, I sound like a shill, but this meal was fantastic. We got the bread with our plates.. recommend. Oh yeah, and the place looks fantastic. Stop reading, and go make a reservation.

Reasons: *staff were wonderful, warm, cheerful. *Meal: Butternut soup (perfect balance of flavor, hint of spicy hotness with creamy sweetness) Pepita crusted haddock (tender, moist, flavorful) with julienned veggies (very good) and lovely saffron rice. *Generous servings (I enjoyed two more lunches at home from the leftovers) Dessert was baked apple pie with ice cream (delicious) *Affordably priced. *Calm atmosphere early evening. We enjoyed this restaurant a lot more than The Lost Fire! 5 stars for vibe/ambience, service and fantastic food! We ate exclusively off of the Specials menu and every bite was mm mm delicious. Can't wait to return!

Very good meal. I had the grilled swordfish special and my wife enjoyed the a vegan pasta dish. Both delicious. We. Also had after dinner lattes which were quite good. This place uses local ingredrience and I would describe it as a chef driven menu.

We hosted our son’s rehearsal dinner and cocktail reception a few nights ago at Bandaloop. We enjoyed a lobster bake which included tenderloin and a host of delicious side dishes. In addition, we had a variety of passed appetizers and later, some sweet and savory “grazing” tables for additional guests attending the meet and greet cocktail hour. The patio easily accommodated 50 guests and the lights, candles, patio heaters and fresh flowers transformed the space into a delightful setting to enjoy our meal. The food was outstanding and the service was impeccable. After dinner, we joined an additional 50 guests who enjoyed small bites, passed hors d’oeuvres , and delectable desserts which were beautifully plated and presented. The house manager, Christina, was a pleasure to work with. She willingly adjusted the menu to suit our preferences , made helpful suggestions and was quick to respond to any inquiries. The entire staff was pleasant and attentive. Hats off to the chef as the wedding guests complimented both the food and the venue throughout the evening and the following day! If you are looking for a great choice for a rehearsal dinner, or any other celebration, please consider Bandaloop!! You wont be disappointed!!

A go to for me when in the area and want clean,organ,tastes. Always accommodate nut allergies,gluten green and lactose intolerant needs. Great prices,friendly staff,great parking,welcoming decor!

I’d been wanting to stop in since moving down here a few months back and finally had the chance to go. One of the best dining experiences I’ve had in a while. The atmosphere was ideal; absolutely beautiful space and plenty of seating options. Everyone was so incredibly welcoming and kind. We tried the onigiri and tofu skewers to start and had the pasta special and palusami—all vegan! Everything was perfectly made and all the sauces were incredible. I cannot say enough good things about it here. I’m so glad I only live 5 minutes down the road as I’ll be here all the time now!

wonderful dinner, great server. I am a carnivore, and there were plenty of meat options, but the vegetarian options were just as delicious. I thoroughly enjoyed the wild mushroom appetizer and the mussels. Highly recommend and will definitely be back

One of the best meals I had in Maine, was at your original location. The food was amazing. Even when you first opened in arundel, the food was great. The last few times we have gone, the food has not been good. The service is still excellent! I hope you bring back the high quality food.

Truly outstanding dining experience. I started with a cup of an amazing blueberry based soup, sweet, spicy, creamy and delicious. My main entree choice was Sesame grilled Bell & Evans chicken breast. I thought nothing could taste better than the pistachio-cilantro pesto until I dipped a bite into what has to be the best peanut sauce on the planet. The saffron basmati and spring vegetables were equally fantastic. As a non-drinker, I was pleased to wash my meal down with a non-alcoholic IPA. Best meal I've had in decades!

Absolutely delicious!!! I eat vegan at home, but vegetarian out because it's so hard to find restaurants that have vegan dishes, but not here! I actually had options! I ended up getting the "Maine Style Palusami" and it was so good!

Bandaloop was fantastic! Didn’t get a picture of the Yaki Onigiri appetizer because it disappeared so quickly- but I got the chicken with the peanut sauce and pistachio-cilantro pesto and saffron basmati and my boyfriend got the salmon with the togarashi roasted sweet potato. The chocolate tart was on special tonight and was delightful. We did not have a reservation but we might have to get one next time, as it seems like it gets quite busy- and with good reason! So happy it is open on a Tuesday (not many restaurants are)!! We will definitely be back soon, and not just because we want to try the bourbon hot chocolate 😍

The food was creative and tasty with larger than expected portions. The service was equally impressive leaving the entire experience well worth the final check.

This is a beautiful spot with exceptional food and service. I am a vegan and my boyfriend is not, and we both left extremely satisfied with the whole experience. He even mentioned today that this was probably his favorite restaurant that he has ever been to. We split a vegan appetizer that we both enjoyed. I had the veggie burger (without aioli) but I got stone ground mustard which was a good substitute. My boyfriend got the brisket sandwich, and we split the berry cobbler with sorbet for dessert. The cocktails were also excellent! I got the Wild Horse and he got the Gilbert Grape, and we were both very happy with our choices. I would recommend this spot to anyone.

Creatively inspired cuisine with a surprise around every corner of this unassuming yet eclectic restaurant. From the delightfully intoxicating cocktails to the generous appetizers to a range of entrees sure to please carnivores, vegetarians and everyone in between, this spot with the hard to remember name certainly provided a memorable dining experience. Service was top notch (shout out to Morgan!) ambience was farmhouse chic and prices were reasonable. Would especially recommend the nigiri starter, the tofu entree and the tuna poke bowl. Had a wonderful meal at Bandaloop last night. Each course was delicious. Food is fresh and dishes unique and wonderful. Our server Rene was delightful. Think this is going to be our new favorite local restaurant.

3-4 stars: Place is very unique with a lot of cool items on the walls. If you're a vegan this place has a ton of vegan options, if you're not, well, I feel like they didn't do an especially good job with the meat options. +6 dollars for chicken (+ more for other options) added to your entree and it felt like they were a little skimpy. The coconut curry shrimp was flavorful but the shrimp was definitely overcooked. They also didn't give enough curry sauce to cover the rice and shrimp they served you, but they gave out an absolute mound of very fresh and well cooked veggies. Dessert and drinks were decent if say 4/5. Don't think I will go again but happy I tried it once.

Had a very positive experience at the new Bandaloop location. Looks like a successful move and transition, so they can expand what they did in the past. Some very familiar menu offerings, w several new ones. One option was a chef special prix fixe menu reasonably priced. I wanted to check this location out but was a little leery of food quality after reviewing the menu in advance. I say that because many dishes had so many ingredients, possibly over complex or making them muddled. I was wrong. We had a great culinary experience where ingredients complimented and added to each dish. They appear to take advantage of local fresh ingredients and focus on vegetarian and gluten free options. They do have beef and other protein, seafood, etc... This place is very different than most local places, featuring traditional coastal American cuisine. Cool restored barn dining room with attention to decor. I will say the new swanky bar stools were uncomfortable with a low bar, with limited leg space. Not a deal breaker, but worth noting. Service was on point and attentive. Will be back.

My husband and I ate here while vacationing in Kennebunkport. It was only about 10 minutes away from our bed and breakfast. Nice, convenient location with good parking and the restaurant has really nice decor and a cool vibe. Bandaloop was the BEST restaurant we had gone to - which was about a dozen - as this was not our first time vacationing in Kennebunkport and we enjoy going out to eat. I'm vegan and my husband is not and we both absolutely loved our meals. I got the Samoan stew, chickpea burger and 2 desserts. Everything tasted fantastic!! Also, our waitress was super friendly and knowledgeable. She was awesome!! Loved the paper straws and cloth towels in the bathroom. Love their compassion for the planet and animals! Wish I lived closer, I would eat here every week. Go, you won't be disappointed I promise!!!

Spectacular dining experience. The food was fresh and delicious. Homemade soups were incredible as was the salmon and haddock entrées. We tried a a specialty cocktail and it was great. Delicious. I ordered the Palusami and so so good. Nice fresh ingredients and loved the whole garlic cloves in it!!
