This is a vending machine. I was with my son and we opened the door by accident on an item we didn't want, didn't take it, tried to get the item we wanted, got very confused, and ended up with nothing. The transaction timed out and because they pre-authorized $35 on my card I was hesitant to swipe again. I called the help line and it went straight to voicemail. I called again the next day because I was charged $12 even though we didn't take anything and they still haven't refunded my card even though they said they would. I can't speak to what their food tastes like. We went there specifically to try the creme brulee. I didn't realize it wasn't a brick and mortor and being with and excited 10 years old we didn't thoroughly read all the instructions. We left empty handed, disappointed, and charged $12 for the experience.

The Macarons were almost good but hard in the center - like it was not fresh. 😞 also wish I knew how much I spent - machine took money and May refund some. ???

It was 11pm on a wednesday and I was hankering for unhealthy food and by god was this great unhealthy food. Saw on google that it was 24/7 which immediately made me suspicious but upon arrival I realized it was all kiosks which, thanks to some nasty cake vending machines in Vegas, made me even more suspicious. Fortunately, Zoltar was very reassuring that the pastries were made fresh daily by local pastry chefs, and it sure did taste like it! Highly reccomend.

I think not worth 12 dollars. Maybe some dishes are. It's definitely a cute novelty though. I think I could see this being great at night when everything else is closed. Creme brulee ⭐⭐⭐✨ - just ok - little too sweet - liked the citrus Shazam ⭐⭐⭐ - liked the nuts wish there was more - didn't love the crust

Very over price vending machine

I went after hours and used their vending machines. The cakes were delicious and the other items in the machines were unique and interesting - cool stuff!

I was late to the game in knowing about the Pix-o-matic vending machines, but it’s now a favorite spot to take out of town guests for the novelty. The vending machines sell higher end desserts, cheeses, tinned fish, and a whole bunch of other weird and wonderful novelties like socks, toys, gadgets, etc. The one thing that can be confusing is knowing what’s in the desserts. In the past there were binders or info cards so you can read the descriptions. Last time I was there they’d hung up the descriptions but the font is so small it’s hard to see.

Really weird vibes. There’s a weird statue figure of a life size fortune teller in a box. He talks without warning lol. They don’t have a lot of instructions or good selection. The bar behind it was weird, I’m not sure if it was part of this… there was no one there, and according to some other people who were braver than us and ventured into the bar, they had canned fish…?

So cute! And so good! I got the tiki tiki and un fantôme. Highly recommend! Definitely satisfies the sweet tooth😋delicious

My daughter brought the Shazam! for my birthday a couple years ago and I've been wishing we could have one of their amazing desserts ever since. We were thrilled late last night to see the Pix-O-Matic was back and had Shazam available! So, we had the Amélie, the praline crisp was a perfect textural addition to the chocolate mousse, the Shazam, which with the silky caramel in the middle was just as delicious as the full sized version that I remembered, and the Pixie with the pistachios and almond paste which was a fantastic non-chocolate addition for our desserts course.

I love the concept but the price is wild especially for the size of the desserts. Pass.

To be honest I was a bit disappointed when the food didn't match the picture on both of my items in the vending machine. The flavors were alright but it felt deceiving to show one thing and get something that barely looks similar.

This is truly a unique concept, but it was a fun experience! There is no one there to help, so read the directions! 😁 There are good directions if you read thoroughly, though! Gourmet desserts and unique gifts in a vending machine! Absolutely delicious high-end pastries for a good price! My only complaint is that I had to park a (short) block away.

It was a vending machine! This used to be a darling little desert place years ago. We drove across town because the online hours stated 24 hours. We got there just to find it was a vending machine!

Can Bar on Friday night was great. Got a big ol tinned fish board, the bread that came with it was bomb. Recommend the powerful 50/50 martini. The guy working was nice, he pointed us to a glass of Amontillado that was great with the fish. Got desserts from the vending machine after of course. Exceeded expectations

Interesting concept. It’s an eatery that the food is dispensed from a vending machine. I didn’t really want what they had to offer, but there were a lot of people there and there is a nice outdoor space for sitting and eating.

This spot on Burnside is a gem in plain sight. Cool drinks, great food and pétanque! See you there on Thursdays! .

I gave it two tries for the vending machines. The vending machines are hard to use and the deserts are meh. The dessert I bought a few months ago looked like the picture and tasted okay, The dessert I purchased a few days ago looked nothing like the picture and tasted very poor for $12. The $35 card hold is really annoying, especially when the vending machine fails to open on the first and second try. Yes, I followed and read the directions.

A friend took me here to the vending machines for dessert. Paid $12 for the opera cake. I don’t mind paying that much for dessert but the size was so disappointing. Would I get the cake again? No. I didn’t think it tasted that good. I do like the concept though. I think it could go far with better stuff. My friend said the only thing they liked was the crème brûlée. Good to try once though.

I put 4 stars on atmosphere only because I've never been inside the cafe. I've just used the vending machines located outside.

Well, PIX used to be the place to go for "extraordinary desserts" and maybe a nice cup of espresso on a Sunday afternoon. PIX was one of the very few classy quality patisserie places in town, back in time on Division and now on Burnside. Surprise awaits though. The place has been seriously downgraded to a vending machine (open 24/7 as Google Maps indicates - duh). You can walk by, provided the delapidated area and a few wandering soulds do not dicourage you, and then buy some of the expensive and fabulous cakes - from the machine. If you happen to bring your own fresh espresso in a porcelain cup and a nice little plate with silverware from somewhere, and maybe a even a table and chair, you can still sit on the sidewalk, and imaginge what it would like to be in Vienna in a coffee house, and get the same dessert.

Went for a snack with some friends from out of town. The entire staff was rude and dismissive.

Great place to pick up birthday cakes 24x7. The small sizes of the cakes pack a big flavor punch and it was excellent. The quality of the ingredients was top notch. We used the vending machine and the taste was great. The price could’ve been a little more customer friendly. $12 per cake. The vending machines idea is great.

Such a great idea and wonderful desserts. Sure, it's a bit spendy but with incredible convenience and lovely desserts it's worth it. Be warned, the vending machine will charge your card $35 per purchase automatically to be refunded to the purchase price later.

If you actually step into the bar when they’re open they have such a great selection of canned fish and other goods. The most important part is that the person behind the counter is very kind, helpful and passionate about what they do. Will be back soon!

Really sad. Their vending machine didn’t allow us to insert money and wouldn’t accept a card payment. Didn’t get a chance to try anything on our way though. Fingers crossed next time.

Really tasty & beautiful cakes, and the fact that you can eat fancy French cakes at 4 am is a definite plus in my book. There were intetesting trinkets besides the cakes in the vending machines, so that was also pretty neat. A Zoltar machine is always a plus in my book, and the free photo kiosk there is a fun touch. The vending machine does put a $35 hold on your card, so be aware of that & if you're going with friends, it's probably easier to order together. Most of the desserts were around $12 and very well worth it. However no forks when I visited so either BYOF or be prepared to eat it with your hands, because you might have to. I ordered Un Fantôme Un Couteau Une Nuit for the name alone & it lived up to it.

Deet place to get desert in the area hands down. We stop there everytime we're in town Edit. From 5 stars to one. Just a couple sad vending machines now 😂

This place is without a doubt the best bakery in Portland. Everything we've gotten here has been delicious and also gorgeous. The individual sized desserts in the Pix-O-Matic are great for a little splurge and taste testing their different desserts. Then for a special occasion, you can get a full sized version of something you already know you love and pick it up through the very convenient cake lockers. It's not cheap but the prices are fair given the consistent quality, plus the time and skills needed for such elaborate desserts.

It's not an easy task finding places still open, as I work the night shift. Pix-O Matic came up clutch for me grabbing a Birthday dessert for a friend on the way to work. Great tasting and unique. Happy I checked it out!

It was a bit of a confusing place. You select your dessert or trinket from a vending machine and then you can go sit at a table and order drinks from a outside bar or just take it home. The desserts in the vending machine did not seem to be fresh to me but I can't confirm that because we did not make a selection we ended up just leaving. I would like to say agian that when we arrived and saw Pix Patisserie / Bar Vivant with the vending machines full of food and trinkets my first impressions was that the desserts in the vending machine may not be fresh. But like I said I Didn’t try any of them so I can Not confirm if they where fresh or not it was just my first impression of the place.

Cakes like ok if they’d be 5$ but definitely not $12

A little pricy but super fun and tasty. Such a fun experience with the vending machines. We had a pistachio cake and a chocolate moose cake. Both were good and fresh.

What a fun experience a friend took me here for my birthday. The desserts were incredible!

It is a novel concept for sure. But the prices viz the mini cake deserts quality and quantity is not really value for the money. We got a Queen sheeba cake which was stale and hard. And the Opera box looks deceptively bigger and the cake inside was tiny in comparison, not worth it for a 12 USD cake

Hands down best vending machines I've ever seen. The options are delectable including the Rock Astley coffee mug! Portland never ceases to amaze and this just adds to it. Gotta love the Zoltar machine too!

A fun place and the desserts are absolutely delicious. We liked the tiki tiki best. The machines are fun to scroll through and see all the foods, toys and desserts inside. There are to-go sporks available in a basket but not individually sealed, so that's dodgy. Prices are a little high.

Its just vending machines , with no real choices. Selling cans of sardines. $18 for 4 macrons not worth it flavor gone down the hill

This place is so fun! We discovered it during the height of Covid. No contact amazing desserts. Now we just go because....AMAZNG DESSERTS! A really fun date night treat. So Portland! Quirky and delightful, but most of all delicious!

Zoltar is here!!! So... go. You might get your wish! ;) Haha. But really. Zoltar is there, for a dollar you can get your fortune told. There's a "photo booth" style camera station that you can take a 4 snap picture series and email or text it to yourself for free. The vending machines have fun random things in some slots and PIX deserts in the other slots. I will say they are slightly more expensive than I'd pay for a every day dessert, but they are so good and fancy and it's more of a great night out kinda treat. Always worth it. I'm pretty sure its open 24/7. I don't know just really great idea, really fun.

We've had 4 of the big cakes now for a variety of fancy celebrations and each time has been a jaw dropping crowd pleaser. It was definitely an unconventional choice going with this place over some of the bigger cake makers, so I'm leaving a review to assure - this is a legit extravagant cake making operation. The flavors, presentation, and how the cakes are satisfying without being that super heavy cake style works for even folks who only take the smallest slice and for others who want to eat the whole thing. There's always a light playfulness to the cakes.....the other reason I LOVE this place is their ability to do last minute accommodations. I've called in 3 days before and been able to get great cakes. When in doubt, I would highly recommend giving them a call. Also, pro tip on transporting is to have a second person hold the cakes in the car as some of them are intricate and the bounces of speed bumps will cause them to bump the side of the box.

What a neat idea - 24 hr vending nachine for fresh bakery items! The descriptions sounded great, but we found the prices to be too high for us, hence the 4 stars. It appears one can special order items and pick them up here from the centre machine.

Perfect place to get a Oops I forgot dessert, or just a nice treat for yourself. I went at about 2 in the morning and the delicious fresh little cakes were just what I needed. I had winter wonderland and the Tiki. Both so good!

Amazing gourmet dessert options. Just so no one is disappointed, this is a photo of the serving size. It's pretty conservative, but the quality is top notch. I know it feels weird to spend $12 at a vending machine, but again - these are gourmet options. Worth every penny. I like to visit these machines after a failed date to cheer myself. Works like a charm!

I used Pix Patisserie for my employers nonprofit event. They were such a great and generous shop to partner with! We greatly appreciated their amazing customer service and their sparkling wine & champagne selection was perfect for what we needed!

Such a fun experience to pick up dessert after dinner. The 24/7 vending is is filled with tasty treats and random other knick knacks you might expect to find in Portland. I switch up the dessert every time and have not been disappointed yet. I got the Shazam! this time and it was one of my favorites. Loved the salted almonds and caramel in the cake. There's also a Zoltar machine!

Vending machine desserts, nothing like the pictures

I have gone to the vending machines several times and need to make time to go into the bar. I see a lot of reviews talking about the price, but these desserts are incredibly intricate, beautifully decorated, and totally decadent. It's not like your getting a cupcake from Fred Meyer (which are also yummy. But not comparable.) I can't eat a whole dessert here by myself they are so rich and flavorful. My boyfriend and I come here for special occasions to pick a tiny cake and random to split. Yes, there is a hold on your card for more than the cost of the purchase. It's temporary. Take a deep breath and perhaps eat some cake about it. Probably get the cake here because wow! And it's a treat for the eyes too - looks so immaculate it's almost hard to sink a fork into and ruin the artistry. I wish I had a picture! I do in fact manage to get the fork in there and always too quickly to snap a pic.

I LOVE Pix! They are one of my favorite places to go for coffee and dessert. The hardest part is picnic g which amazing delicacy to try. I love how creative they have been during the pandemic, the pix-o-meter is awesome. I wish they would bring back dining inside even if just the bar and a place to sit and enjoy the dessert. But the pix-o-matic is great and the new additions are even better.

This is some kind of high brow stoner munchie trap. All the desserts in the vending machines are approximately $15. That alone made me run for the hills. But if you want to get your fortune told by Zoltan, this is your spot.

I’m french and was warmly recommended to try this place. I bought two pastries and gosh this place is a joke. The treats are ridiculously small (you discover that when you open the box of course) and sooo overpriced. $12 for two bites is unacceptable, no matter how fancy. I will not come back.

Love the concept, but that’s it. My partner and I got two minuscule desserts (crème brûlée and incognito). They should’ve been $12 each, which would already have been overpriced for what they were, but the machine charged us for 3 so we had to pay $36. They were fine, but we’ve had better, bigger, and cheaper at sit down restaurants.

It’s not “open” 24hrs. You will be led to vending machines that have a few options. Feels like bait & switch when it says “open”. Took friend for birthday dessert. It was a bad look.

This place is magical. My wife loves chocolate mousse. It has to be made the French way that does not use gelatin or it's no good. I called in an order for their Concord chocolate mousse cake and surprised her with it and it was a massive hit! Fast forward a month and she's still talking about the cake. I learned about the vending machine when I picked up the ordered cake. My god, on demand mini magical cakes!!!! It has a bunch of other stuff in there like fruit de pastels which she also loves. We just moved to Portland and this has been one of the best places! I hope they keep this going, the cakes are beautiful and delicious!

Fun place to go one or twice, fancy pastries and funky environment

It's good. Pay attention and read! The amount of people who walked away without pressing yellow button at end of order was dumb. Of you don't then someone can order after and it's added to your card. 12 bucks for a desert smaller than a kit Kat bar. Is it good? Yeah is it worth 12 bucks? Not in my opinion. Have literally gotten thr dame desert from places that were better at a bigger serving for the same or less price. But it is available 24 - 7 through vending machine.

My new favorite treat: 24 hr vending machine! I am a pastry chef and know my way around a good cake. Some are heavy and rich, others light and fluffy. Delicious.

Great pastries, we went to the vending machine around 10pm after looking around for a place open that had cake and was open. Did not disappoint, really good pastries. The one down side was the vending machine was a bit glitchy to use . Will go back when they are open to get more cake

Very disappointed!!! My 4th time here and looking forward to a new sample of wonderful desserts and the door to the vending machine would not open. I followed the instructions and was familiar with them as it was my 4th time here. I ran my card a second time with the same disastrous results. I immediately called the phone number posted if assistance is needed and listened to promotional messaging but nothing detailing what tondo if the machinery fails to vend. I immediately checked my card balance and of course saw that I had been charged twice despite the door never opening. Very disappointing as the previous 3 visits have been a wonderful experience. I hope this matter can be resolved promptly

Delicious small deserts that are artfully presented. Has been a go to spot for date nights for 20 years. everything on the menu is amazing so there are no wrong choices. Moveing to only dispensing from the Pix-o-matic food vending machine soon. Highly recomend stoping in for in person dining before you no longer can "late August"!

T’was a rainy winter night in Portland in search of something new and delicious when as if by fate I came upon this beautiful French Pastry bar and tapas lounge. I skipped dinner and headed straight for the chocolate chaud and it was magic in a cup I am forever changed . Love ❤️ this night

Loved Pix [esp their original location - was within my frequent bike trips]. Sad to hear they are closing on 22 August, enjoy the long desired retirement. T

it was dark, there were hardly any other cars around. it was midnight, lol and my friend and i snuck out, specifically to visit Pix vending machines. there is an adorable patio with 2 large machines that are well stocked with delectable desserts and other sundries. there was even a rubber chicken😂. on the wall between the machines is a menu with pictures describing each dessert. we got several things to try and they were all delicious. it's sad that they're closing soon, i think the end of August 2022. the owner is retiring. but if you get a chance before then it's worth the trip. credit card in the machines only, no cash. machines are operational 24/7 and there's a discount if you go during happy hour from 12-4 ***UPDATE Oh happy day! according to the response i got from Pix, their vending machines will be staying and filled with deliciousness made by their talented employees

This was such a fun/unique experience! Our pastries were delicious and well balanced. I had an issue with being overcharged and their customer service was prompt/responsive. Would go again when in the area next.
