This is definitely a mom and pop place owned by some awesome down to earth locals

We absolutely do not recommend eating there, we have decided we will never go back there; due to poor customer service skills; they were out of everything on the dinners and sides; poor portion for the prices for just 2 dinners and our food was soggy and cold and my girlfriends chicken strips were over cooked so much she was having trouble bitting into them and she on got 4 small straps for almost $13.00 and both mine and her buttered toast was soggy and cold, and my sandwich only came with 1 piece of bread!

Waited 30 mins for our food. When it came we immediately wished we hadn't chose this place to eat. Didn't get what i ordered. Was Cold. Old. If I wanted a Tyson frozen dinner I could have payed $5 and made it myself. We didn't eat, we just left.

I was very disappointed with our food we got there today Oct 1. We got pork steaks and they were very tuff had no taste I don't think they even put any seasoning on them. My orka was very tuff as well it was to big and was like stick in the orka to big and tuff. We won't be back. Very disappointed.

Extremely long wait. And when we finally got our food it was cold. The chicken strips were a brown gray color on the inside. We didn't even eat. It was just lunch time and they were out of a lot of food. Not prepared at all.

The service was amazing. Food...... nope. The ribs... I threw the whole rack in the trash. Way under cooked. Like eating rubber off a tire. Slaw had next to no flavor bean's were not good either. The best parts of this place, the owner and his service the staff and the bread. Sad to say as this is basically the only BBQ joint in this beautiful small town. Seen it up for sale on a local reality site. Someone needs to scoop this place up and make some serious changes. Sorry, yet true even the locals I spoke with say the same.

Friendly people, great food at a decent cost!

Recently I contracted with Big D’s to cater our DHS Class of 1972’s 50th Reunion. Russ Arnold, the owner, was very easy to work with throughout the process. The quality of the food was excellent, as well as hot, and they delivered it to us at Murray’s Event Venue in a timely manner. I highly recommend Big D’s for their food as well as catering! Big D's B-B-Q is a local favorite spot that has a certain charm too it. What do I mean by that? For starters, it has a Middle American aesthetic that it's only found in a place like this. The food is authentic as it is good because it comes from genuine Mom and Pop shop that has been run for generations. They take pride in their work because they go out of the way to ensure good cuts of meat that you would find at an upscale place at good prices! While the restaurant does not have a drive-thru, it doesn't need one because the dine-in experience is worth your time and it makes the place more homely instead of corporate. But if you're in a hurry, you can call ahead and have a take out plate as well. I recommend ordering the daily specials for starters.

It used to be better but it's alright still. The portions aren't great and the meat is usually dry.

The pulled pork sandwich was good, but the onion rings were terrible. They were the cheap ones, and only about five came with my meal. I left hungry.

Had the cheeseburger & fries, a simple staple of lunch but very well prepared and tasty. Wife had the pork steak sandwich and she thought it was one of the best she ever tasted. Service was excellent, we never had a drink go dry and they made certain everything was good and that we didn't need anything else.

As someone who grew up on KC style BBQ I can say Big Ds has a style all thier own. The sause matches perfectly with the rub. The meat is smoked just enougj that no one part of the flavors over power the other. I was not disappointed. The owner was very kind as well.

Ate there for the first time....sweet and friendly cashier. Took time to explain everything and gave us time to make up our minds. The experience was good....will go back.

Service was good and the food was better.

We were in town for a funeral and they stayed open a little later to allow several family members to dine together. The BBQ was great and the hospitality was fantastic. We will definitely stop back by when in town again. I also highly recommend the homemade fried apples.

The staff was nice and helpful. We ordered porksteak. It was not tender at all and hard to eat, not much taste. The sides were good. It probably is not a place we would try again. If we did we would get something other than pork steaks.

I had a pork steak for lunch and it nearly made a grown man cry it was so good. Their original and mustard based sauces are also very good.

Been eating here for a few years now and the food never disappoints. Quick friendly service. We've been here when there wasn't room to sit inside and we've been the only people here a few times to, food always comes out in about the same time and the quality is always the same. We even ordered our bbq for our wedding from here 5 years ago.

Great local BBQ. The menu is a full service BBQ place with ribs, sandwiches, and chicken. They have more pulled pork than you can shake a stick at. The sandwiches are piled high and the sauces were good.

The best BBQ around. Everything is worth trying. And the owners are some of the kindest people you will meet.

This was the most tender and flavorful bbq I think I have ever had! Husband had philly cheese steak and that was also tender, juicy, and just perfect! Had a bite of my daughter's cornmeal breaded catfish - delicious. I was pleased to see that they had a children's menu. Prices were really reasonable ($4.75 for a child's plate, $7.95 for adult bbq).

This is the only place we eat at in Donaphin. We have tried the other restaurants, and we'll nothing beats the food and the service of Big D's! I always get the Philly cheese steak sandwich, and it's great. This is a place where I can choose my sides, and cheese sticks are included on the sides. The coleslaw is great, along with the potatoes salad. I think fir 3 people, we can eat on $40.00, give or take. Thank you Big D's, we love your food!

Big D's B-B-Q has the best catfish ever! Friendly environment. Highly recommended! Love this place! I've ate in and ordered takeout! Because it's fresh cooked there is a small wait but oh so well worth it!

They have a great menu to choose from. We live locally and eat there once a month. Originally from Memphis I enjoy good BBQ and Big D's offers that. If you are visiting be sure to stop in and get some food.

My kiddos love the fries! They have great blackberry cobbler too! This is a popular place for locals. Come Thanksgiving time, they smoke turkey's for about $10 that you take to them and pick up ready to eat for Thanksgiving dinner.

Very nice BBQ. You order at a window and then they bring it to you. Everything was good. The staff was friendly and the prices were good. This has an old-fashioned feel to it, but I personally like that, especially in a BBQ place.

We stopped there today for lunch. Not very good! The meat on my BBQ pork sandwich was tough, VERY dry and burnt end pieces. The “cole slaw” for the sandwiches was just plain chopped cabbage. Won’t be stopping there again anytime soon!
