Charming, elegant, fantastic food, of the best service. From the charcuterie board and cheese, bread basket and butter selection, lemon thyme chicken (with request of a customized lemon, butter caper sauce), gouda burger and frites...this place offered excellent morsels for the pallette. The service was superb from so many helpful people. They were all welcoming and accommodating. The only downfall in my opinion is the Pride 🏳️🌈 flag outside but that is a personal/political thing for me. I only mention it because even though they may like inclusion, Republicans or a large majority against may be discouraged. It isn't necessary. Love can be spread and welcomed without waving a flag. It was a mild deterrent at first but with EVERYTHING about this place inside, even the interior decor, was fantastic. Of the best food and service which matters most. I would come back.

I went there on a date with my girlfriend last weekend and when we showed up without reservations, the guy and lady working the front desk area were super nice and welcoming, and were super nice about letting us know that we'd have to wait, which was fine. When we came back we sat in the outside dining area and it was really just wonderful, with little individual raised terraces. The staff who took all our orders were super nice and answered all our questions. Even though they were all busy, they didn't act like they needed to give you a short answer and run on to their next task. Honestly, the best service I've had at any resturaunt in the US, hands down. All of the food was amazing, as were the drinks, and the cheese tray we had for desert with some espressos. My only regret was that I didn't take any pictures, but I was just enjoying being in the moment. I can't wait to go back!

We had dinner last night and boyyy was it good! There were 6 of us and everyone raved about the service and the food! No complaints! I personally had the French onion soup and the trout and they both were great! The sauce for the trout was out of this world! Service was great! Our server was sweet and knowledgeable. The bartender made a mock tail for a kid in our group and he hand delivered it and made her feel very special! It was a wonderful experience all around and we will definitely be back!

The French toast was very sad...just toasted sticks with cinnamon & whipped cream. One side of all my French toast was burnt, the other not cooked at all. My partner got the French dip and he could tell exactly how many slices of roast beef were on his sandwich just by looking at it...it was very thin and small. For the price, just not worth it. Our first time leaving a restaurant still starving 😕 the cocktails were good though and our server was very fun/sweet. Maybe we just ordered the wrongs things 🤷♀️

This French style bistro offers straightforward but well executed cuisine in a cozy environment. A prix fix menu was available, but we were enticed by the regular menu. The salmon/trout spread was a welcome start. The knotted bread with a variety of butters, mentioned by other reviewers, was very tasty. The beet, goat cheese and grapefruit salad was perfect. We shared the steak frites and trout and enjoyed both (the outlet was tasty but chewy). The frites were shoestring and very good. The dark chocolate mousse made a nice ending. Sorry for the lack of pictures. In sum, a perfect country bistro experience and highly recommended for your stay in Shepherdstown.

Not sure if they were short-handed or just busy, but it took several minutes just to get a glass of water, much less a drink. And it was a bit more expensive than I would have thought. Stopped in for brunch. Located in an old building, you dine in various small rooms on several floors. Nicely decorated. Tables are very close together- a fact that will prevent me from coming back for dinner as I hate crowded seating The person at the front door was less than welcoming. Our Server was pleasant, though overall service was slow. Overall, food was just ok, given the atmosphere, I had higher expectations - Home fries were incredibly salty, and very crisp. Poach egg was close to hard boiled, english muffin very tough to cut, french toast was barely coated with egg, and the jam biscuit was surprisingly tiny. What we ate: Eggs Benedict with hone fries French toast Jam biscuit Mimosa My rating rationale +1 Service +.5 Food~Taste/flavor/quality +1 Presentation +1 Atmosphere/vibe +.5 Value

This was our second visit to Bistro 112 while visiting Shepherdstown, WV. The food and cocktails were incredible both times. If you are African American this place is not for you. We experienced the most subtle form of racism on Father’s Day. Upon entering with my husband, daughter 6yrs son 1yrs the host sat us down didn’t say happy Father’s Day and was not pleasant. Moments later same family size “white” sat across from us and the same host offered the two small children activity books. My husband and I were shocked and we asked if we could have activity books for our kids. My daughter ordered a kids lemonade and they gave her a glass of lemonade. The two little girls across from us had kid cups. We asked the waiter if we can have kid cups. Still shocked. When the waiter talked about the menu items he never said happy Father’s Day. When the white family across from us sat down immediately the waiter said happy Father’s Day and made a dad joke. It’s extremely unfortunate in 2024 the lack of emotional intelligence. Bistro 112 please consider unconscious bias training for your staff so other families don’t experience what we did.

This place was suggested by the owners of the inn where we stayed. We made a 530 reservation on a Saturday evening. We arrived on time and were promptly seated. Ordered cocktails and let the waitress know we were in no hurry. We waited for nearly 15 minutes for our cocktails, during which time the waitress asked if we were ready to order. We reiterated that this was a date night, and we were taking our time. We drank our cocktails and decided what to order. When asked again if we were ready to order, we instead let the waitress know we would like to have a $100+ bottle of champagne with our meal. After serving our champagne, we were unable to catch our waitress' attention to order our meal. A manager approached and asked if she could help us. We let her know we wanted to order our meal. Instead of facilitating this request, she told us they would actually need to have our table for a guest with mobility issues? I showed her my husband's cane and asked, "Oh, kind of like my husband?" As the manager began to explain further, I simply asked, "What's in it for us?" She offered desserts. At this point we were extremely irritated, but decided to just move to the bar. After moving, we were able to order from the thoroughly delightful bartender (she is the only reason we would consider returning). Our original table and the empty one next to it now had reserved signs on them. While my husband and I enjoyed our champagne and excellent carpaggio and escargot, those tables were seated with two different couples who appeared to have no mobility issues at all. Sadly, I sent back my extremely oversalted steak au poivre while my husband silently ate his overcooked trout. We declined dessert, so the bartender comped our appetizers and my entre. Yes, we did take 45 minutes to wait for drinks, enjoy them, peruse the menu, and have some champagne. No, we were not told that there was any kind of limit on the amount of time we could take to enjoy our meal. Yes, the space is very tight and as it filled the waitress had difficulty moving among tables. No, this was not our fault for being seated where they put us. Yes, there is a great menu and bartender, but unfortunately, the waitstaff/manager handled this badly, and the kitchen didn't execute our entrees very well. Our hosts at the inn were shocked at this description of the place, and wondered if they should continue to suggest the bistro to guests. As former industry people, we would have actually been more willing to help out if we'd gotten the truth from the manager about why they wanted our table. They might also want to consider how they use their space to accommodate guests or let guests know that on a busy night, there is a 2 hour limit on dining.

We had 7 pm reservations and were the last table there. The food was amazing. We had an arugula martini and a not-so-cosomopolitan to start and they were crafted by an expert! Beef tartare to start melted in my mouth on a fresh baked baguette. The crispy skinned pan fried trout from Virginia came with whipped potatoes and wilted spinach and made me very happy to be alive. My partner had the ahi tuna with haricot verts and asparagus and lots of other fresh bits, and he was quite content. Dessert made me rethink my appraisal of macrons. Gigantic with a fig center, she was a vision in hot pink strawberry and pistachio green gloriousness. Definitely visit this place but maybe get an early early reservation.

Upon hearing great mentions of this restaurant, I decided to dine with my family for dinner. The servers were excellent, very friendly, attentive and accommodating. However, our entrees took an hour and a half before finally reaching the table. I found my entrée to be very bland in flavor and overall very underwhelming. For a $32 entrée at a nice restaurant, I have higher expectations. I cannot recommend the escargot or the ahi tuna niçoise. The escargot tasted soapy, and the ahi tuna niçoise was a few pieces of cold tuna and an underdressed salad. I am unconcerned with portion size, especially if a dish is flavorful and well crafted, however, this was not my experience. After two hours of dining at this restaurant, we were offered complimentary desert for the extreme wait time on our main course. We graciously accepted, but upon ordering, we were told that we must pick only two to share amongst ourselves. I would not recommend this restaurant to anyone wishing to dine. Overall, the atmosphere was nice in their outdoor seating, the servers were excellent, but the food unfortunately caused me to never want to return here.

What an amazing atmosphere at Bistro 112. We were seated in their outdoor area, which is beautiful. It felt like we were transported to a whole new place with a peaceful, refined garden feel. Definitely a higher class vibe. Tables are nicely spaced, giving plenty of privacy to each table. It was a chilly day, but they have heaters at each table, which worked well to keep us warm. Our server was kind and gave great reviews on what to order. We brought our 11 month old with us. They had a high chair and were accommodating of our needs with a baby. There was not a diaper changing station or room to change a baby in the very small bathroom, but the bathroom was clean and offered quality hand soap and lotion. The food was delicious, with many unique offerings. We loved that the bread basket came with three unique butters to try, and the knotted bread was PHENOMENAL. So flakey, soft, and delicious. We got seasonal veggies for the baby, which she enjoyed. I got the vegan rotini with marinara and added chicken. My husband tried the butternut squash ravioli. Both were tasty. We also got the seasonal cheesecake for dessert. It was delicious, although on the smaller side size-wise. Overall, a great experience.

We live a few miles away and we've enjoyed several French restaurants in this building for almost two decades. The current owners have truly outdone all the prior owners. This is not the first time we've been here under current management, but last night was the best experience ever! My husband and I enjoyed (a split portion of) the soup of the day, chicken soup with lots of vegetables, followed by the Norwegian salmon. Every component was beautifully cooked - my husband's medium and my medium-rare were perfect with skin so crunchy my husband didn't even remove it; the asparagus was cooked al dente as it should be, the mashed potatoes were tasty, and the ravigote sauce provided the perfect acidic counterpoint. Last but not least, our espresso martinis were great - perfect choice of cinnamon variety and amount. Our server, Taylor, was personable and professional, and made sure that food and drinks were served promptly and as ordered. As someone with a gluten intolerance, I was grateful that Taylor gave me choices and placed the GF bread order early enough that it arrived together with the regular bread. For the first time ever in this restaurant, my husband and I were able to share the three different kinds of butters without my having to beg him to save some for me! (Note: he rarely eats butter.) The kitchen and the front (including the Maitre d' - sorry I didn't ask his name) did an outstanding job last night! Strongly recommended!!!

Wish we could have eaten or tried something here. We came on a day-trip from DC to explore the town. There was a sign outside saying there was a free wine tasting, so we thought we would go and try, one of us actually works in wine and specializes in Latin American wines. As we sat at the bar and waited for the Chef to come set up, an older woman asked us if we’d been helped yet. We told her we were waiting for the wine tasting, and immediately she started making strange comments, like “none of you look old enough to drink” (we’re ages 39, 30, and my younger sister who’s 20 and was not going to drink with us) and “they look younger and younger every day”. She asked for our IDs, my sister said she wasn’t drinking and we began to look for ours. I realized I hadn’t brought mine, which wasn’t an issue I could just order a bite or something else, but then she muttered another comment like “well that’s a very important factor to a wine tasting” or something like that, and walked away. At this point we decided to leave, we felt judged and unwelcome, like an inconvenience. Everyone else was pleasant, the host and bartender, just this one lady that made us feel strange. Might come back and try again as this place has excellent reviews, but it won’t be anytime soon.

Two weeks ago we had our first dinner at Bistro 112. It certainly will not be our last! We have patronized many of the Shepherdstown restaurants, and this one is the all around best. We did not have reservations, and it appeared that they were quite busy, but we were warmly greeted and seated in a cozy corner table on the second level. It was a Wednesday evening and we were delighted to learn it was half price wine night so we ordered a bottle of Beaujolais and shared a delicious Heirloom Tomato and Burrata appetizer. For entrees we ordered the Steak Frites and the Norwegian Salmon. The presentation of our appetizer and entrees was beautiful - everything looked like a work of art! Cooked to perfection, fresh and warm, it was a wonderfully delicious meal. The cordial, friendly and efficient staff made us feel welcomed and special. Our waiter was warm, professional, and not the least bit intrusive. Bistro 112 is located in an old building but it is nicely decorated and everything was immaculate. I’ve eaten in all manner of establishments, from gas stations to Netflix special / notable chefs, and let me say how blown away I was by bistro 112. Unassuming but with a tempting menu, I went in knowing nothing else. The service was excellent - attentive knowledgeable staff. I’ve never encountered an eatery with more decadence towards the interest of children, and my child scarfed down the entire meal. The house made menus are gorgeous and worthy of their own review. My cocktail was delicious and unique. The food was top notch, as a party of 5 we ate a little of everything on the menu. A $5 bread basket with a perfect assortment of beautifully executed carbs and butter which is now my new standard for butter? I’ll take 10!! The salad was fresh and dressed perfectly, but the show stopper was the soup of the day. Maybe if I stop by enough the chef would share the recipe because it was divine. Skinny fries (the best kind). Ambiance was good, it was well appointed and decorated neatly, though the proximity of tables (small building) did feel a bit rowdy at times. I’m done raving about our excellent experience and recommend you test it out for yourself!

OMG - it was so delicious I almost couldn’t eat the dinner because I ate so much bread. Cudos to the chef and the entire staff. I just wish I lived nearby - it would be my go to place. But I will make a point of stopping whenever our travels are anywhere near bistro 112! Thank you for a lovely evening.

We went there for brunch. The staff was incredibly friendly and helpful without being intrusive. My husband had the Ahi Tuna Salad Nicoise and I had Oeufs Benedict, which the person who seated us recommended. Everything was delicious, including the arugula martinis. I forgot to photograph the peanut butter and chocolate tart, and the strawberry shortcake.

Met our daughter and her boyfriend for brunch at Bistro 112. It was a pleasure, and our first visit. We will definitely go back. The staff was welcoming, the menu was varied, and the food was fantastic!

The back patio is a lovely setting and we were able to take our time and enjoy it. Just know you are paying a premium for the atmosphere and service. Some people rave about the food but I thought it was just "fine."

Extremely good food at a very good price. Hands down the best restaurant around this area. We immediately made reservations for next weekend.

Not neatly as good as before Covid. Our food was not well seasoned. Disappointing.

Friendly, helpful staff. As a measure of any French themed restaurant, the bread with its flavored butters was quite good. A nice range of regular menu options as well as interesting specials. We chose two regular menu items and two specials. All were nicely prepared with portion sizes just about right. Wines by the glass and bottle were well chosen to compliment the menu. Our desert was shared, quite rich. Closed out the evening with a cappuccino. We noticed that a small bar that could seat four people was full offering a walk-in option; although on a Tuesday evening table were available. Worth noting that like so many restaurants here, parking is on the street.

This restaurant is exceptional and a wonderful spot in this little town. The inside decor is warm, cozy, and inviting while the outside patio is really special! I was vey impressed with the fans and awnings everywhere to keep customers cool and comfortable outside. The food is creative and wonderfully made! The staff is very friendly and attentive. Will return again and again!

This restaurant is located in a 19th century building and is charmingly decorated. We reserved a table on the second floor which was a quieter area than the first floor. The wait staff was very attentive, the food delicious, and the ambience comfortable. We will go back.

My family hosted a post-interment lunch for over 40 people at Bistro 112. The staff at the Bistro were excited to reproduce the same menu that my mom had picked out for my dad's post-interment lunch 8 years ago. With new ownership and a new head chef, the food was even better this time!! Everyone commented on how great the food was. And the set up outside couldn't have been better. James Cooper made everything sooth and easy for me, and was just great. Bravo!

The press room is a beautiful restaurant, with excellent decor and staff. It comes off elegant with all of the candles and cloth napkins. Atmosphere and service aside the food was incredibly lacklust

The coffee was very darn good. Sat down with the owner and he told me stories of fame and Fortune, and loss and redemption. An interesting man for sure. In previous lives, him and I were swashbucklers
