Exceptional! Crab cakes are absolutely Delicious! Salmon is Delicious! Owner Thomas and his staff were courteous and extremely attentive. Exceptional view of the area and fireworks. We will return!!!

We dined with friends before going to see Chicago the musical. Nice view of the marina and we had a cozy table by the wine racks that was most pleasant. Our server Kristina is nice and knowledgeable in regards to the menu. We were quite pleased with the service and she got us out in plenty of time for the show. I had the Jumbo grilled shrimp and it was delicious. I started with the wedge salad which was very cold with lots of bleu cheese just the way I like it. We will return on our next visit to Hilton Head.

Excellent food with a quaint atmosphere. Service was wonderful and the owner’s dad happened to be in town helping. He was lovely. If you are unsure where to eat, you won’t be disappointed enjoying a meal from Bistro 17. They also offer a kids menu.

Good food with French-ish twist in one of HH island marinas. We opted for the terrace as they accept dogs. Service was good too. However we were very unpleasantly surprised to pay a 3% surcharge for the credit card payment. Apparently this is a new thing across many restaurants on the island, we were told. Perhaps it’s also a good idea to ask patrons to pay for your electricity, water, telephone, delivery? Be bold, there are so many other things you can make your customers pay!!

Wine was ordered, first choice not available, so I made another choice, too much time passing , still no wine. I had to flag manager just to be finally informed that the wine was chilling and that was the delay. Food seemed to take a while before it finally arrived. Entree was good , but I had good food while in Hilton Head, that arrived in a timely manner and wasn’t as costly. While dining at this establishment, I heard others questioning when their food would arrive . One questioned the entree itself, asking if chicken was in barbecue sauce, instead of red wine reduction. I realized it wasn’t just me. I would not return to this restaurant, my money will not be wasted like this.

Lunch with friends. The perfect waterfront location on a comfortable relaxed patio. The patio was attractive and inviting. The service was professional, courteous and timely. The Bistro salad was fresh, the chicken crepes were “to die for”, and the soup was absolutely delicious. If you have not tried this restaurant, you have missed a rare treat. The word is that dinner is even better. Cannot wait to go back for dinner.

Have not been to the Bistro in about 3 years...at which time we went weekly for dinner. Was very disappointed in my chicken crepe for lunch. Visually it was unappealing..brownish and not identifiable as a crepe. It was covered in a thick layer of what I think was guyere cheese. Never a good sign when you have to scrape off the first layer of your lunch. I will give them another chance before writing them off. The service and ambiance are great,however.

I think most people will like the food here. For my wife and I, we just were not blown away. Everything we ordered just seemed to be underseasoned. All I can think of is they are tailoring the food to an older customer who may not like salt, butter, wine,garlic,etc.. I don't think this is classified as a French restaurant But it seems to have some inspiration in some of their dishes. Fine French food has a very deep flavor profile with A very pleasing presentation. Sometimes chefs over present to compensate for lack of flavor Or food quality. The location and ambience of the restaurant is fantastic overlooking the water and boats. Would definitely go back for drinks and maybe try it again with Just an appetizer.

I ordered the crab cake as an entree and it was a horrible, deep fried ball of dough with very little crab. It was recommended by our waitress but it was absolutely inedible. A hush puppy would have been better. To be fair, the string fries were good, as was the salad. But those crab cakes … just awful. Further in a spirit of fairness, my wife’s halibut was very good.

The staff were rude and did not make us feel welcome at all. We ended up leaving. I would not recommend this restaurant to anyone.

We must have eaten at the wrong restaurant. I have read the reviews and we must have been there on a very off night. We had a brand new waitress and so will cut the service some slack but the kitchen was so slow we just couldn’t understand it. We were there after 7 on a Saturday night and the place was half empty. Took 30 minutes to get bread (which was not good) and over 45 to get our appetizers. The Cesar salad was good, nothings special. The French onion soup was very good. The special salad was a wedge of iceberg which was delicious. We also ordered the Bri en croute, which is one of my favorite things, and it was terrible. We had to send it back. Maybe it just wasn’t hot enough, but it also didn’t have any flavor. The crabcake was good, not the best. It had decent flavor, but not much crab as far as I could tell the mussels were plentiful, but tasteless. All in all, we were pretty disappointed. It was our first night on the island and we were hoping to start with some delicious food.

Not a huge menu but EVERYTHING on the menu is to perfection. Great food, great people and & $1,000,000 setting and view to die for.

This restaurant is not very easy to find, but it's worth it. I had a great meal of duck confit. My wife was less impressed with her meal, which consisted of crab cake appetizer and another appetizer of brie on croute. The puff pastry wasn't as puffy as she had hoped, and the brie was not that flavorful. Still, I'd go back.

We had such a great time at Bistro 17 lunch. I ordered French onion soup for start and for my main course I ordered bistro 17 salad with grilled cheese. All 3 dishes were amazing, freshly cooked and so tasty. Ksenia was my server, such a sweetheart. Will definitely be back.

Arrived at 8:22. Waited behind someone picking up takeout. Hostess came back after giving the person in front of us takeout and said that the kitchen was closed. Yelp shows open until 9:30 and Google shows open until 9. Plenty of empty tables and servers were apparent while we waited to learn that the kitchen was closed.

We ate at Bistro 17 our last night on the island. We had a reservation and were seated immediately, although I was not fond of the table where we sat; inside the doorway on the left. Patrons and servers we constantly walking the table since we were the first table inside the restaurant. However, food and service were very good. The food was served hot and nicely presented. The server was attentive and made sure our food and drinks were as ordered. We will be back when we return in August. Reservations are needed as the restaurant is small inside.

Lovely light dinner for four before a show. All of the group ordered the two Bistro 17 salads to split. The salads were excellent. Three then had an appetizer special that had two large scallops, two shrimp and a crab cake. They raved about the plate. I had the bowl of French Onion Soup. It was very nice. Reasonably priced wines by the glass. Service was very good. All-in-all a very nice light meal.

The food here is always great. We went for my birthday and each had a different entree. My husband ‘s New York Strip was cooked perfectly. I had the special was Halibut and was very flaky . My daughter had the duck and was a little apprehensive but said it was cooked perfect. Othee daughter had the beef bourgeois which is their signature dish and excellent as always. We came across this place looking for something else and decided to return for dinner that evening. From beginning to end, we enjoyed everything from the complimentary appetizer plate to the Duck Confit to The Calling Cabernet to most excellent table service by Meredith. We will definitely return on our next visit to Hilton head.

We had lunch yesterday, based on TripAdvisor reviews. We weren't disappointed. They are doing renovations on the patio, and we weren't sure they were open, but they were, and the inside is delightful. My wife had the 3 salad plate and I the crab cake sandwich - both were excellent. There was only one server, but she did great, hustling, and the owner helped out as well. A new place for us on HH, but one we will be back to.

From the impeccable table service to Chef's incredible specials, the experience was definitely one to remember. Cheryl (pianist) set the mood and Thomas (owner) made sure that we were treated like royalty. Meridith (server) made sure that all of our needs were met in a timely manner. We happened upon Bistro 17 and we delighted with lunch. My wife thought that the three-salad salad was excellent, and she especially loved the shrimp salad. I had the crab cake sandwich, which came on a tasty and flaky croissant. The crab cakes themselves were delicious and light. This place was recommended to us as a great place to eat while viewing the fireworks. So we made dinner reservations as late as possible. They had inside and outside seating. Since the best view of the fireworks was outside, that was where we sat. Our waiter was friendly and gave us a few recommendations. We ordered a couple of appetizers as well as the fish special, the grilled jumbo shrimp, and the beef bourguignon. The fish special was grilled swordfish. It was on the dry side. I probably should have ordered the wild salmon or the steak frites instead. The jumbo shrimp was good as was the beef bourguignon. For dessert, we had the hazelnut crème brûlée. It came in a really tiny cup and not really meant to be shared. I guess we should have ordered something else. Aside from the swordfish and the dessert, the view of the harbor was really great. Although, every now and then, a passerby would stop and block our view of the fireworks.

I haven’t been to Bistro 17 in a long time so my husband and I decided to go to dinner there last week. Why have we waited so long?! The food was superb as was the service. To top off the evening, we saw long time island musician Cheryl playing beautiful music from the grand piano… what a treat! It rained that evening but it didn’t dull the view of the marina! Bistro 17 has become our go to restaurant for our first night when we visit the Disney Hilton head resort. The setting is lovely. There are outdoor tables overlooking the water. I ordered take-out. The service was kool. The location is a few steps from the water so views are nice and enjoyable. I ordered lamb chop and it came with 3 small potatoes and 2 cut carrots. I was still hungry after eating it and expected mashed potatoes instead of 3 small potatoes that had been cut to make it seem like there were more for the price.
