Incredible experience. They happily accommodated our blind dog by seating us on the back patio, service was friendly, knowledgeable, and attentive, and above all, food was exceptional. Steak frites was delicious and fries were addictive; crab cake was the best we have had, with huge pieces of lump crab. 10/10, will be coming back asap.

This was a great dining experience. Each food course was excellent and the service was perfect. The mussels were among the best I've ever had. The chef's counter provided the opportunity to watch the ballet between the chefs and the wait staff, but it can get a little warm from the heat coming from the kitchen.

My husband and I sat on their lovely patio at the back of the restaurant. It was decorated with ceiling fans, a beautiful privacy fence, and lots of plants in containers. The crab cakes were heaven on earth and the eggplant Étouffée, on long strands of handmade pasta, was something I will always crave. We ended with a cheese plate which was divine. The service was at a perfect leisurely pace for people wanting to enjoy a bit away from home. Thoroughly enjoyed the evening and hope we can come back again on another visit to St Michael's.

Our waiter Peter was so nice ! He could sell ice to an Eskimo. He suggested a wonderful wine for me and got my mom to order one of the specials. I felt so at home in this restaurant! The food was good but a little on the salty side

Had an amazing fresh gazpacho soup with crab, and my husband really enjoyed his Niçoise salad. Looking forward to coming back and trying more of the menu! We really appreciated the warm and friendly atmosphere and our waiter Alex was phenomenal!

We've come here every year for the past 3 years, and we absolutely love this place. The food is amazing , service over the top friendly and accommodating, and overall fantastic.

This restaurant was supposed to be the best food in town, and being from the DC area, where we have lots of fine dining options, we wanted to try in out. We thought it was overpriced and the food was good but not great. Service was excellent, but the food was sort of average - not what we were expecting.

Would highly recommend this location. Its casual atmosphere mixed with fine dining is 100% the kind of places I tend to enjoy. We had an amazing time here. The service was great, super friendly staff, and the flavors were fantastic. I would highly recommend the mussels, French onion soup, scallops, and the bread pudding. The mussels’ broth was a perfect white with some acidic with tomatoes, a great pairing. The French onion was loaded with onion and not too cheesy, perfect for an onion lover. The scallops were pan seared perfectly and served with this sweet potato meddling with pine nuts. I sálvate a bit on the idea of having that again. The chef mentioned the history of his bread pudding and his recipe origins coming from South Carolina.

There is a reason that the restaurant is high on the Trip Advisor List. We were a large family group which can always be a challenge for a restaurant with everyone ordering at once. The Bistro didn't skip a beat. Servers were excellent and attentive and knowledgeable. There was a nice wine list offered and all entrees were raved about by our group. Servings were a nice size and I had the veal chop which was suggested by our server which I split it with another guest.

The short ribs are excellent and I highly recommend them. We also had the baked brie and thought it really good. One thing to note there is a $10 plate sharing fee--so make sure and come hungry and enjoy!

Wonderful food. Short rib is so tender abd flavorful. Crab cakes are baked which makes them better! Salad was so fresh. Jenn is fabulous she always helps us pick out a nice wine that is wonderful for the evening! Can't wait to ge back in july.

We had reservations to celebrate our 25th anniversary. We could not have been greeted more warmly with anniversary wishes, we were even offered a complimentary glass of champagne. The menu offers lovely choices, but not too many, so it was fairly easy to select our choices. My husband had the lamb, which he said was magnificent and a preparation he hadn't had before. I had the short ribs, which were rich, beautifully presented, and just spectacular. The appetizers and salads are also fabulous. Our whole dining experience was wonderful, added to by the truly magnificent and attentive servers all in a cozy setting. If it hadn't been closed the following evening we actually would have returned for dinner that night. (Went a few doors down to another restaurant and there just was zero comparison.) We cannot wait to come back, this is without a doubt the best restaurant in the area.

We mad a reservation for two at the Chef's Table, which is bar seating which looks right into the kitchen. We were seated on time and promptly greeted by our waiter. We both decided to go Specials. I chose the short rib beef stroganoff and she the sworsfish bouillabaisse. While we were waiting for our meals the waiter brought out some bread. It appeared to be individual sections of a baguette. We were both very happy with our meals. They were delicious! We finished the night withnthe creme brule, which was also delicious. The service was excellent and being seated at the Chef's Table we got to witness the ineractions of the staff and it was apparent that they were working hard but still having good time. I would highly recommend Bistro St. Michael's for your next dining experience.

We dined in the bar area on Sunday evening! Excellent service from Peter as our bartender/server! Excellent food/wine recommendations from Jen! Lucky for us we were able to order from the last week of the winter/spring menu.! We opted for the baked local wild diver oysters! We both agreed they were the best we have had this year! So tender and flavorful! Hubby opted for the short rib bourguignon and he loved it. If I see Coq au vin on a menu it’s my go to! Served over house made egg noodles it was the best I’ve ever had! 5⭐️’s all the way! The Bistro is a must while in STM!

Stopped in for a cocktail and an appetizer. Wonderful baked oysters and oysters on the half shell. Great whiskey selection and the blue cheese stuffed olives in my martini were spot on. Service was terrific.

Jen always takes great care of us when we come in to dine. Whether you eat in the bar area or the man dining room, service is always top tier!

Bistro St. Michaels is an excellent restaurant in St. Michael's, Maryland. The food was top notch, reasonable in prices and the service was superb. We enjoyed a special anniversary dinner and they made it special even offering a celebratory toast with champaign. Thanks to everyone for making it a special evening.

Excellent food and service last night for my birthday dinner. We love Bistro and it’s always consistent and the food only seems to improve and be more delicious each time. Peter, was excellent and very attentive. Chef Robby is always excellent and goes out of his way to make sure your food is always above and beyond! We always can’t wait to return!

I have dined here twice. The first time my bestie and I had our young kids with us. We had no idea the restaurant was so nice! Luckily our kids behave, and we had a good experience, but I knew I had to go back child free. This time, I went with my husband for my birthday. I ordered the same thing I had the first time - the beef short ribs. These are by far the best short ribs I have ever had! I am not a big beef eater, but had these during both visits. The Bistro was my first time trying short ribs and since then I have ordered them other places, and have always been disappointed. The service was great as well. We had champagne during this visit, but I also remember my friend and I trying some cocktails the first time. Those were also good. I can't wait to go back during my next visit to St. Michael's!

Char was amazing! Food was amazing! Duck mwah ! They fixed an overcooked steak in a flash. Soo good!

I forgot to take a photo of the "before", but I think our scraped clean plates say enough! Excellent food, it's rare to say you enjoyed every bite of a meal, but the duck was superb. Our waitress was also extremely professional and friendly. Nothing bad to say about anything, great spot!

Having been a regular patron of Bistro St. Michaels for years, I hold dear memories of the impeccable service and delightful experiences my family and I have cherished over the years. The highlight being our wedding rehearsal dinner hosted five years ago, which was nothing short of perfection. Doug was absolutely wonderful planning every detail - something that we will never, ever forget. However, during our brief visit yesterday evening, the warmth and hospitality we've come to associate with Bistro seemed amiss. Upon entering the restaurant, the initial interaction with the young hostess and another employee left us feeling slightly unwelcomed. Instead of the familiar gracious greeting, we were met with a curt inquiry about reservations and an implication that we might as well leave our names if we so desired. It's crucial for establishments, especially ones as esteemed as Bistro St. Michaels, to consistently uphold the same level of hospitality to both regulars and newcomers alike. Every interaction counts, and even a single off-day can affect a customer's perspective. That said, memories of countless delightful evenings spent here make me willing to consider this an isolated incident. I genuinely hope the management can take note of such experiences and maybe invest in a little refresher course on hospitality for the staff. In the spirit of understanding and growth, I'd be more than willing to give Bistro another shot in the future. "Wonderful food, service, ambiance, decor. Just BEWARE of their undisclosed SOMETIMES disquised outrageously overpriced Dining options. oh! you didn't ask...they didn't tell you when you ordered. Lupe can afford it all...some diners cannot! but warn me and them when we order. some diners CAN'T afford some of their prices. so? ASK! Lupe says ENJOY! it's wonderful. but? ASK! that's all. 10/12/23. UPDATE. Dearest Owner thanks for your reply to my update on Bistro. Lupe and the rest of the world are very aware of the crazy costs and expenses of food today! Lupe does grocery shop and is herself a divine Chef. Fine Dining is expensive specially in the epicurean world that exists today in upscale St. Michaels. You say you do not announce pricing because it is "tacky". So IF it is TACKY, why do you put prices on your Menu at all???!!! It is the exact same tackiness for nor revealing your Price on the veal chop. Why put any prices? Lupe can walk a block up Talbot St. to the wonderful VILLAGE SHOPPE and purchase the finest magnificent butchered to order veal chop and not pay near the price of the Bistro. To say your cost is "high" is amusing. and let's be real you pay wholesale for your foods. You call it tacky to divulge to any customer your price. Lupe calls it a COURTESY to those customers who can't afford your price. But? It is your baby. Rock it, Lupe still loves the Bistro!

Had dinner here while enjoying a weekend getaway in st. Michaels. Crab cakes were superb. Swordfish special equally delicious. Excellent ambiance, service and food. All around a great experience. We sat on enclosed, heated patio, and it was very pleasant.

A bit underwhelming. We went here for our anniversary based on other reviews and left a bit deflated. The wait staff was overworked, with our server handling 7 tables on a busy Friday night. Our server was kind but clearly overwhelmed. We went without water on multiple occasions. Management seemed out of tune with the struggling staff and under prepared given there was silverware rolling mid-dinner rush. Mussels were simply drenched in butter, lacking any depth of flavor profile. The charred bread the only saving grace in the dish. My husbands old fashioned was unimpressive. The entrees were what saved the meal. The braised short ribs fell off the bone, were tender and delicious. The scallops and sweet potato dish was elegant but the cauliflower was under cooked. Skip the mousse and grab a cone from down the street.

This is widely considered the best restaurant in St. Michaels. Great ambiance, comfortable, not noisy, well decorated, etc. The kitchen staff looked top notch. We had a 7:15 reservation but we had a small emergency. I called to see if they could back us up to 7:45 or so, and they welcomed us to come. We walked in and asked for a high top in the rear near the bar. We ordered drinks and pondered the menu for a bit. Our waitress was Char, who I think was the bartender. We eventually asked to order, but she had to make a few drinks first. No problem. Then I reminded her we would like to order and she then cleared plates at another table rather than take our order. Finally, she took our order…2 bowls of mussels and a Pommes Frites. After about a half hour, we started asking where things stood. At 35 minutes we were told our order was almost ready. At 45 minutes, Char said the kitchen was delayed by a table of 25 upstairs and there was no excuse for the delay. She was correct on the second part of that! The manager came over and, defensively, said our order had only been entered 20 minutes ago and that the 25-top had been served long ago. I don’t care when our order was entered. We had ordered over 45 minutes before! To make matters worse, we were celebrating my wife’s birthday (on this day). Sadly we left without food. We bumped into a couple on the front patio on our way out who had shown up about 10 minutes after we did. They had already eaten their appetizers and were enjoying their entrees. Geez. I’m not a complainer. We expected more and deserved more. At least The Inn at Perry Cabin left some cookies with the turndown!

Nice selection, well prepared, and great service. We will return.

the place might look like an old-fashioned kind of venue for older generations but the food is quite interesting and innovative. we decided to treat appetizers as tapas, and ordered five of them as our dinner. all were great - unexpected combinations of flavors and textures. the service was wonderful, too. ask for a place outside.

We had a fabulous dinner here. Our dinner started with the Roasted Bone Marrow appetizer. We then split the arugula and roasted beet salad. Both were delicious. For dinner, I had the fresh fish special, it was fluke fish lightly pan fried served over summer vegetables. It was cooked perfectly. My husband ordered the seafood gumbo. It is a generous portion and he originally didn't plan to eat it all, but once he started eating it, he couldn't stop, it was that good. We didn't have room for dessert, but the table next to us had the berry crumble and it looked quite tempting. As we left, we briefly chatted with couple seated at table next to us, and they also said it was the best meal they have eaten on their trip so far. As far as cost, this is definitely a "splurge" meal, but you will not be disappointed with the quality of the food and the impeccable service.

My wife and I dined at Bistro St. Michaels for her birthday...absolutely fabulous. From the time we arrived we were met by a group of very friendly and hospitable staff. We ate outside in the rear of the bistro where it was nicely appointed for a pleasant and inviting dining experience. Our server Patrick was awesome...couldn't ask for more. The appetizer of mussels was wonderful...even dipped our bread in the tomato-based sauce they were cooked in...so good. We enjoyed both the seared scallops over sweet potato hash in a pine nut brown butter sauce and the summer vegetable risotto that the chef so kindly added scallops to as requested. Exceptional! We couldn't pass on dessert...tried the profiteroles and warm cherry crumble...each were wonderful. The Bistro's staff, food and atmosphere made the evening very special.

My wife and I dined at Bistro St. Michaels for the best meal on our vacation. The bistro is a sophisticated restaurant with a full bar and an impressive wine list. We began by meeting our waitress who was excellent. She was friendly, professional and answered all our questions. We began by sharing a delicious wedge salad, followed by seared scallops over sweet potato hash in a pine nut brown butter sauce and the halibut special with root vegetables in a light sauce. Both were excellent. We finished with a peach tartine and chocolate mousse. A great night in a great restaurant.

I have eaten here several times. The staff is friendly and attentive. The standard entrees are not that appealing and have inscrutable descriptions, so best to bring a dictionary. The daily specials are good choices. Both times I have had the seafood choice. Take care and be sure to ask the price...

This and most of the eateries in St. Michaels can get away with mid range food because of their location. Our dinner was fair at best. Dessert was worse. I ordered the mussels, and my husband the short ribs. The mussels came out in a bowl of almost tomato soup type broth. It was all you tasted. The toasted bread point served on the side was good however. My husbands two tiny short ribs, were served with a small tart type overcooked yet stale pie crust, picture small to go along side, with again overcooked couches. Dessert, Peach tartine - Sysco peaches this time of year in an overbaked pastry shell, then drizzled with bottled Carmel sauce. My chocolate mousse was not light but very heavy, so in fact might have been pudding. I will not recommend this restaurant.

4 adults and two pups had a wonderful experience on the back patio. We had a exceptional service from Peter. I do not love blue cheese and had considered having it on the side of my Shrimp and Grits. He recommended against it and I am so happy I listened to his recommendation. It was a perfect counterpoint to the Buffalo shrimp. The gazpacho with crab was an additional menu option and it was delicious! Perfect on a warm, humid night. We finished with peach tartine. It was tart and sweet with a lovely ginger tang. It was the perfect evening. Highly recommend.

Food was so good. My husband and i still talked about it 24 hours later. We had truffle fries, shrimp and grit, Seafood Gumbo and Swordfish, and they were all delicious. Unfortunately, there were no picture taken cause we ate them too fast😅… yes, they are that good. Warm Cherry Crumble is out of this world🥰. Thank you for the phenomenal service, and amazing staffs.

I usually don’t post reviews, but the meal that we had this past week at Bistro St Michael’s was extraordinary. I had the crab cakes and succotash. My wife had the tile fish with seasoned rice and heirloom carrots. It was one of the best meals that we’ve had in a long time.

The Bistro came highly recommended, so my boyfriend and I chose to dine here for our last night in St. Michael's. I had the scallops and my boyfriend opted for the gumbo. Both entrees were delicious, although I was surprised the shrimp in the gumbo were not deveined. (for this price point, I would expect them to be) Our waitress was friendly and our food came out fairly quickly despite it being busy. The restaurant itself is located in an older house which certainly adds to its charm but also means it can be very cramped and a bit chaotic, especially near the front where we sat.

Reservations last night found us dining at a four top in front of the kitchen! What an experience. The ladies ordered appetizers, while the men ordered the veal chop and the seafood gumbo. Everything was perfect including Peter agreeing to top off the bar pours. His knowledge of the entries was excellent, thus the gumbo order. The menu may be somewhat limited, but the quality is not! Go, enjoy!

Excellent food and service. We sat at the counter to watch the kitchen as we passed the time in between courses. Although the menu offers a wide variety of dishes and most are fairly traditional there are a few sneaky surprises (Seafood gumbo with crab etc). All of the food was well prepared, flavorful and served in reasonable portions. It isn't the most inventive restaurant but for an elevated experience than your average seafood/family style restaurant - it won't disappoint.

Fantastic meal at the Chefs Table. Apps, dinner, drinks and desserts were wonderful! The bone marrow appetizer was wonderful and the crispy oyster mushrooms were phenomenal.

Dinner for my husbands birthday. People were friendly and service was good. Food was very good and well presented but pricy, so be prepared. Atmosphere was nice. My husband had the lamb and i had the rockfish.

So i went back here this past week at end of May 2023. Unfortunately the Mussels Sofrito sauce this time was really bland. I think it was really unseasoned. Lamb loin was fine, but not overwhelming and one of the bread baskets had rock hard rolls. Oh well. B-- this time for overall grade. Original post - from August 2022 -- A+ all around. Hosts so friendly and attentive. Peter my server made perfect recommendations. Mussels Sofrito sauce should be bottled up and sold it’s just that flavorful and delicious. Bone-in veal loin so mouthwateringly tender and delectable. Expertly made drinks. Chef’s counter seating gave me closeup view of the talented chefs and crew. Superb -

Plenty of GF items marked on the menu. In addition, the waitress answered all my questions about cross-contamination knowledgeably and confidently. This place is pricey, but the food is delicious, the atmosphere charming, and I consider it safe for celiacs.

One of the best and most memorable restaurants I have visited in 45 years of traveling for a living. Extremely well managed and food was superb. Their take on shrimp and grits was just brilliant. Sitting in front of the kitchen was a total pleasure. Owner/manager has done a spectacular job. Boiling point!

So happy we came here for date night! All of the dishes we had including the scallops and crispy rockfish special were spot on and well balanced. And the service was lovely. Stoked to bring more people with us the next time we go.

Seriously, this place deserves more than 5 stars. I was blown away. We had the lam with the French onion soup and a wedge salad with the oyster stew…. The stew had several huge oysters, the flavor was incredible…. I can’t even describe how good it was. The lamb was cooked to absolute perfection. When we thought the food couldn’t be more incredible, we got desert and were blown out of the water. I don’t think it could be possible to have a bad meal here. The service was absolutely perfect and the atmosphere of the restaurant is just perfect. So thrilled. Can’t wait to come try more items off the menu!

This place is PHENOMENAL. You definitely get what you pay for.

Ok so we had a veal and short rib that rivaled any of my travels through Europe at Michelin starred restaurants. Our appetizers were good but did not rock our world the way the entrees and desserts did. We sat at the counter by the kitchen and Rob (he has a ponytail) **MADE** our night by explaining some of what he was doing and answering our questions. It sort of pushed from fantastic to stellar. Kaley (sp?) was our waitress and she was fantastic and KNEW wine. Highly recommend you have the veal, short rib, sit at the counter in front of Rob and get Kaley for your waitress. The profiteroles are also out of this world.

We were wonderfully surprised with how delicious ALL 6 servings we had during our 3 course meal. We were stuffed and didn’t have dessert but our baked oyster special and bone marrow appetizers were delicious and started the evening with a bang. We followed that with wonderfully decadent onion soup and oyster stew. Neither were friendly with our diets but quickly became best friends anyway. Our gumbo and lamb shank entrees were equally delightful. The shank was cooked through to the point I needed my knife and fork to hold it together. The gumbo was equally flavorful and delicious. Our bottle of wine was great and affordable ($60) and they have by-the-glass options and a full service bar. This was our best dining experience in the Easton area and we will definitely return when in the area again.

I have eaten the mussels in Paris, Brussels, Lyon but as in this restaurant there is no comparison. It has been a lovely experience and I recommend that you go and enjoy the magnificent service and good food

What an absolute gem of a place! We came here for a birthday meal and had the little table for two on the front patio...best seat in the house! The cocktails and food were incredible (I'm going to dream about the crispy mushrooms and scallops for days), service was excellent (our waiter was super friendly, I wish I could remember his name! And the bartender made amazing drinks!), and the owner even surprised us with a birthday dessert and candle. I can't believe in all my times coming to St. Michaels that I hadn't been here yet, but I know now it's my go to place for future trips.
