UPDATE: In our opinion, still the best pupusas north of San Salvador! Really friendly staff and bustling kitchen make this a fun lunch or dinner hangout. The prices of the tamales and pupusas can not be beat. And they are so filling! There are so many combinations that it will take you many trips to try them all. And check out the menudo. Huge steaming bowls. No one ever goes away hungry from Bitia's.

Excellent place to go on your lunch break or in a hurry, straight to the point service with food at a good price too.

Round 3 lol Let’s Go, ok you know I went the 1st time & got the Quesadillas, I told you I was going back for some Tacos, and I did.. Loved Them!! Got Two Steak & Two Chicken as cheese! Look if you grew up on Taco Bell Taco’s then you’ve been DEPRIVED!!! This Authentic Taco come with your meat, onions, cilantro, & a lime. I added cheese!!! Best Tacos Ever!! I added 4 Steak Quesadillas that was a pick up order they told me it would be ready in 10 - 15 minutes I drove there took me about 12 minutes & I walked in to see them putting the last tray in my bag (Perfect Timing) I used Tap to Pay & was literally on my way home within 3 minutes of Parking. That was Round 2 lol so let’s talk about Round 3 took Mika, Tay & D. I got 2 Tacos & a steak quesadilla with a side of Rice & Bean (TRULY AUTHENTIC & Great) the boys got 3 tacos each one got & Mika got Calder De Res it was a Soup, SHE LOVED IT ❤️❤️❤️❤️ the Beef, the Vegetables , the Broth!!! Truly amazing experience. Resturant is small only had a couple people in there but by the time we ordered, it was Colette PACKED again, just couples and Families filled the restaurant. Such an awesome atmosphere. I can’t wait to go back!!!! 5/5 - 10/10 I recommend it if you’re in the area it SO WORTH IT Stop by see the The staff working hard to bring you Authentic Dishes with a smile in a small but great environment. I’m definitely going back very soon!!!

Being new to the area, you take suggestions of places that you should try my neighbor Walt suggested this place to me. The Cashier spoke English & Spanish, she was at the end of her shift but she still gave me a smile and endured my tourism (ie. Oooo wow what’s this lol) To give the service a 4 May be unfair but, you order standing, and you open your own drink. Not a big deal just not use to that. The Atmosphere Authentic!!! Small but truly family oriented, it’s truly a local spot. There were some families inside enjoying their food, laughing, & just acting like they were at the family house having a dinner it was such a great atmosphere. The FOOD!!! I was disappointed cause I was told to try the Tacos 1st but I came 20 minutes before closing and unfortunately for me they were out of tacos for the day, we won’t hold that against them cause if the Tacos are half as good as that Steak quesadilla, then I Expect them to run out of tacos every day. Let’s talk about the quesadilla the most authentic quesadilla I’ve ever had. It it does not have a whole bunch of seasonings trying to make you taste something, That’s not there!!!! It is the flavor of the meat mix with the flavor of the cheese on their own tortilla flipped one time cooked on a griddle with some butter for a genuinely authentic quesadilla this was Delicious!!! I can’t wait to go back and I’m definitely looking forward to trying the tacos. Was Fairly Priced, I got Two Steak Quesadillas & a Glass Bottle Orange Soda for Under $22.00 I ate one there and left a $5.00 tip for the person who cleans the table. I’d give it a Strong 4.7 Scooby💯

It's a small joint In a plaza I decided to stop by while passing thru. I will leave an honest review based on the chronological order of my arrival. When you first drive up to park ... you can't help but notice the amount of trash in front, on the side, and around the trash cans. The front had h 2 almost empty corona bottles, cigarettes, and garbage. The side of the building had trash everywhere and more beer bottles. Upon entering... the joint is small and it was very busy. No big deal for me. The service was not good and the person taking your order was not inviting and very off putting. Can barely hear them with plexiglass right in front. Don't think that's necessary any more. The food was OK. I only ordered tacos so this is what my experience was. The carne asada was probably the best taco out of a few I tried. The chorizo was good too. The chicken was extremely over cooked and I couldn't eat those few. Not sure what happened to the el pastor but it was also unedible. The Verde salsa was really good. Overall I probably wouldn't come back and I would recommend maybe going elsewhere. Which is a shame because it's super authentic.

If you arrive at 8:30 pm, they do not allow you to dine in the establishment after that time, they only sell you yebar, which is a bad thing because their closing time is at 9:00 pm.

Took my wife and son today for lunch. Saw the reviews online and a business that took time to reply..which to me means they care. The food and the staff were phenomenal. Extremely fast and wonderful service the entire time. The torta with chorizo is soooo good and the chorizo isn’t overpowering at all. Everything we ordered was delicious and the best part is their salsa verde and rojo can turn any of your dishes into a new experience!!!

My Salvadorean hubby & i really enjoyed our food from here. The pupusas hit close to home & were fantastic! We got 6 chicharrón y queso pupusas, carne asada, & a quesadilla. The pupusas have lots of filling and the masa isn't too thick & they are big! The carne was tender as well. Good value and great service. The gentleman in the dining room was super accommodating & kind! Will definitely come here for our Salvadorean cravings again!

Food is good, and fair priced. Service is slow, but portions are big

This is where locals eat. That being said the prices are low. The food isn't over spiced or overly special either. I'm lost b the fact they don't have pico de gallo. No fresh salsa, no chips either. The portions are modest. There is no cheese on your taco, there is no options for sour cream or guac either. No super burrito or fish options at all. This is how you run a restaurant cheaply and with little regard to an authentic product. The rating of 4.7 at this time is a conundrum. There is nothing special here. Its above Taco bell in freshness, but loses to it with cheap shortcuts and a the process of authenticity. Chipotle is your better option.

Passing through town on work and heard about this place from the hotel clerk. Great choice! The tacos and pupusas are delicious! The prices and vibe are great too. Highly recommended.

First timers...my wife and I just had lunch and this place is fantastic! I had the menudo and it was the best I've ever tasted...in my life!!! Delicious and so clean...just perfection!!! My wife had the tacos and she loved them! We're going to be going again very soon!!! Update: Just went for lunch on 8/13/22! I had the beef soup and my wife had the pupusa...fantastic!! The staff is excellent and the food is great!

I simultaneously want to give this an awesome review, but also keep it a secret, but that is not fair to the owners. This is a jewel of simple Latin food in Sarasota. The tacos are phenomenal so get 2 of each and try the red salsa on one then the green on the other. It can be a tight fit, as it has only a few seats, but it is my favorite in this area.

Great place for authentic Latino food

A few days ago I went to eat at this place for the first time since I was on vacation, I decided to go to this place because it is FAMOUS, but the truth is that I was very disappointed because 1- attention 2- Food 3-attitude I do not recommend this place, they sell HORRIBLE food..

This is a fantastic place to eat great food cooked right on the spot The food is phenomenal here. The staff is very friendly the place is very clean. Wood highly recommend.

Came here based off all the great reviews. Got 6 tacos and one bean burrito for 20 bucks.. 20. Not a good value at all. Service was mediocre at best. We will take our money elsewhere.

This local joint unfortunately not worth it to be recommended to the outsiders unless your expectation is to experience a Central American food. Service …is low so the atmosphere inadequate serving food your food it must have happy faces , greetings it a must Things like Good morning, afternoon, thank you etc. Food …. Hard to tell who you are Central American or Mexican in either case the food you make it needs to have some sort of authenticity otherwise will taste a bad food you cook at home My beef soup… not what I expected when is just a simple dish to prep not aceptable To me.. Big chunks of vegetables not fully cook li potato, long green beans that has to be eaten by spoon Business depends on their locals to maintain in business but you should strive to be the best of who you are..

Haven't decided whether it's good or bad that they are so close to home. The new menu, like the old one, is in Spanish. This is a good sign (no pun intended). If you can't read Español, download Google Translate and figure it out. Several, maybe most, possibly all, of the staff speak English so ordering is no problem once you make a decision. They are very friendly and interact like a family. One of these days I'll ask. I've been in too many times to remember and have always been pleased. Everything I've had, probably 60% of the menu at this point, is delicious. The burritos are huge, the pupusas were a terrific new thing for me to try, very tasty. The only weak spot is the sauces, green & red, are not spicy in the least. Flavorful but mild. If you like spicy everything like me, that'll disappoint. It's a small space so I always do carry-out (a 5 minute drive home) but the vibe is like a family diner. Regulars, families with little kids, folks from the neighborhood. Located at the end of an older strip mall, parking is an adventure at peak times. Getting in with a wheelchair might be a bit of a challenge but it is doable. The parking lot is one way so you might have to make a lap or two .

Food was fresh and there wasn’t a long wait. They helped me understand what was on menu. I was very happy with my meal wish I would’ve got pictures before I devoured everything. Will definitely be back whenever I’m in Sarasota area! Muy Bien!!!

Bitia's is amazing! I've traveled in Mexico a decent amount and always enjoy authentic Mexican food--which can be difficult to find in Florida due to the sizable Cuban and Puerto Rican communities. Bitia's is the closest I've found. I went for lunch on a Saturday and the place was packed, but the staff was fast with making the food and turning around tables. Will be back again.
