Our meal at Bitteroot was spectacular. This gem of a restaurant is tucked away at the end of a shopping plaza. The menu is not huge which I believe allows the chef to truly focus on every element of his dishes. They were all spectacular! Our appetizer and entrees were as beautiful as they were delicious. The bar serves unique craft cocktails as well as having an extensive menu of spirits and fine wine. Our server was very attentive. This is not a restaurant for the budget minded but instead it is a unique dining experience. We will definitely be back.

Best dinner in Destin! Don’t be fooled by the outside of the building. The inside is stylish and modern. Service and food were fantastic. Been here twice and was excellent both times.

Unless you want to eat slightly burned and extremely oily burgers with little to flavor, this is your place to go. The buns were burnt which gave the meal an overpowering bad taste. Not only that, but had been drenched in oil to the point that if you squeeze the burger, it all comes out. Not pleasant at all. Just by looking at that burger, you could immediately tell it wasn’t of quality. We also asked for a fried egg in all of our burgers when our orders were being taken, but we weren’t informed that they didn’t have any left until the server handed our plates to us. From other restaurants I’ve been to, servers would usually check-in with the kitchen to see if they have something I asked for, however at this restaurant, they don’t. The atmosphere was beautiful so we had high expectations of this place & their food. Their truffle fries were good. The wings could be better, as they were extremely sweet. If this place can’t perfect their own burgers, I don’t expect any more for the other stuff on their menu. Our bill had been $100+, and we felt too bad to pay for all that even though the food didn’t match the beauty of the restaurant.

Fries were fancy delicious (10$) .The burger was super oily .We ordered 3 burgers and added eggs as well . Looks like the waitress was exhausted from being the only worker in that shift and she reflected that to her service toward us. She threw the plates to us like if we were to be dogs and told us : ‘ we did not have eggs btw ‘ . Ok, you could let us know via mail two weeks later about the eggs . And why is everytime me to have the guilt of food places being short in stuff ? ..but she worked all day, she’s tired !? Well : I’m hungy, I’m paying & tipping , ok ? 🤷🏻‍♂️😎

I’ve had New York strip steaks all over the country in fact all over the world and this one was by far one of the best Wagyu beef strips I have ever had. Perfectly cooked and seasoned beautifully. Congratulations to the kitchen staff!

Everything was wonderful about this experience besides the service. Service was EXTRAORDINARILY slow and our waiter, Deverett, was extremely sarcastic and snarky from the start. We had a larger party, but were extremely prepared to tip. We ordered appetizers, meals, and drinks - the restaurant was practically empty. It took 15+ minutes to get our credit cards back when Uber/Lyft was waiting.

Remember these words: Speechless! The absolute best entree you'll ever taste. I brought my wife here for a special date night, and we were both absolutely blown away by the incredible food. It felt like we had stepped back in time with how delicious everything was! This place absolutely needs to be at the top of your list - don't wait, go ASAP! Get the Billionaire Cocktail thank me later!!

Fun little gem in Destin. The staff was really into it. The food was fresh, innovative and really well prepared. The atmosphere is great, strip mall becomes lower east village haunt.

Absolutely love Bitterroot! The atmosphere is great, the service is amazing and the food never disappoints! We went Monday for a late lunch and it was perfect! We got the arancini and the Philly dip sandwich. Can't wait to go back.

The food was SUPER SALTY! (Lunch Menu) I had the wings for my appetizer at first bite they were okay, but very salty for sure but I ate them anyway. The only plus was that the food was served hot which was a A+. I then had the burger, I couldn’t even eat the fries once again because they were soooo salty 🥲🥲 I had to ask for new fries they I didn’t end up eating all of it. I had cut my burger in half and forcefully at half of it because I didn’t want to spend the rest of my day hungry. But I left the remaining food at the table. If you do end up going get the Almond Lemonade that was the best part of the whole meal and the water🤣. Overall 3/10 , honestly would not recommend. My server was nice and I still tipped 20% but she didn’t offer something to try or anything.

Summer 2024, Bitteroot is hitting on all cylinders. Amazing fresh and local food. Excellent service, excellent cocktails. Peach Burrata salad on special is a must try. Also had the chicken parm, Pichana steak, birria hand pie and the chocolate mousse cake. I recommend all highly.

My fiancé and I just visited Bitterroot, and we agree that Bitterroot serves the best salmon dish we’ve ever had. The cocktails, atmosphere, service, and food were all top notch. Thank you for a beautiful experience!!

This is a hidden gem. Small but very nice inside. The burger was really good. They have a variety and while I ran in quick it’s more of a nice place. Appetizers, hang out and talk, enjoy a nice night out kind of place. Will go back for sure.

Beautiful city-themed restaurant in a beach town! I loved it all we had the chicken parm and pepper crusted filet. Both great options as well as great cocktails. If you have a chance to come here definitely do, just knowing it's farm to table too. The food tasted fresh and that's a big deal nowadays.

We went here tonight for the first time and were delighted. The service, amabiance and food were literally perfect. We live in the Pensacola area and are always looking for more farm to table options. The way we found them was through a rewards program through one of our credit cards, and we are so glad we learned about them. We will 100% be back.

On a busy day the staff were accommodating. One servers comments and questions about our portable high chair threw me off a bit, but our server was fantastic. I believe I swapped entrees because I didn’t enjoy my choice. The drinks were delicious. We enjoyed our time

Wow! I am so upset we have not been here sooner! We’re from Texas and try to come to Destin once a year and we had no clue this place existed. Devrick/Michael was great and the food was amazing! Everything was full of flavor and exceeded our expectations. We will be back before we leave Destin in 5 days. Best burger and fries we’ve ever had, steak was divine! I can’t say enough about this place! You will not be disappointed! Thank you to Devrick for the great service and to the Chef for creating an unforgettable palate explosion!

Not farm to table on all items. Naan bread for Nutty Goat Bread flatbread pizza purchased from Fresh Market now with unhealthy ingredients. It upset our stomachs. Nor did the dish look like the photos posted on line, very dry with minimal amount of toppings and small portion for $15. So disappointing as many restaurants are cutting back.

My husband and I are from out of town. Found bitterroot on our Google search. Decided to try it out. If we were locals we would be there on a regular basis. We ordered the chicken parm, smoked pork chop for dinner which were both great. For dessert we ordered the banana bread cheesecake ( so yummy) and we are cheesecake snobs.

OMG!!! Bitterroot totally exceeded my expectations. We considered leaving since the menu was very limited. However, we decided to stay. Our waiter answered all our questions and made several menu recommendations. Expected some type of warm bread or rolls while waiting on orders, but they didn't offer any. We received orders in a decent amount of time after ordering. The food was superb! Service was magnificent. Plenty of parking available. Will return...

Had their Wagyu burger and truffle fries. The burger was on a very simple bun which gave me an impression it might not be worth the price. However that was one of the best burgers I’ve ever had. Unbelievably delicious. The truffle fries were also very delicious. Definitely recommend this for date night!

Stopped into Bitterroot last evening and it was an absolute pleasure and wonderful experience! I go back with Brendan to the days of Beuchert’s in D.C. His farm to table concept has held up strong and his team continues to deliver excellent food with a stellar ambiance experience. We had the whole red snapper with Carolina Gold rice. The snapper was excellent! My only regret was i couldn’t eat it all! The Carolina Gold rice was a particularly nice touch(for those who don’t know, research the history of Carolina Gold rice). I highly recommend this restaurant, it’s worth every penny!

This place was awesome! Unique food choices and an overall great atmosphere. Our server Buddy was absolutely fantastic. Helped us navigate the menu, and even got us a piece of cake for a birthday. Held the door for us as we left, this guy was just as amazing as the food was. Szechaun wings birria hand pies wagyu burgers the list goes on. Absolutely phenomenal. Thank you for an amazing time.

We visited first week of April 2024, menu was very specific, very diffrent then examples online. First of all 5 star service, quick, kind and entertaining. Problem was: 1/ Concept of the menu went far, far beyond it's execution with taste and $$$. 2/ Description of the dish didn't match the actual dish - you cannot name something 'short braised beef with young pot' and receive soupy pale scraps of tough tiny beef amongst bean sprouts and other veg, or name "dumplings" a leaf wrapped mushy filling. That resulted half party eating, other had to reselect and eat alone later. We are foodies, ate all over major capitols, we saw your concept, but it needs to be translated into clearer way and more intriguing, palatable taste. Wish you best!

Really cute spot. Great for a date. Awesome cocktails. They just don’t have any plant-based options on their entree menu. They can make you a veggie stir-fry but it has no protein. Hopefully they can update their menu to be more inclusive.

Just had a wonderful experience at Bitterroot, will definitely be returning. The service was incredible, and the food was absolutely delicious-- everyone in my party loved their food, desserts included. Even the kids pizza was delicious. The cocktails were also divine. This is a wonderful place for Sunday brunch or date night. Very calming ambience.

Had the crawfish gnocchi dish. OUTSTANDING. It was nice to get away from the typical overly fried Florida cuisine and to actually eat something that was not deep fried. The food here is outstanding. We also had the salad with steak. Phenomenal. Drinks were nice and strong. Will definitely return if I ever come back to Destin.

Amazing Amazing Amazing..... My Husband and I make an effort to go every season and try out the new menu and The chef 👨‍🍳 never and I mean never disappoint. Great atmosphere and the crew is like a family and takes great care of you. All the way down to making custom cocktails for their customers. I always make sure to ask for a Brad special. They have the best cocktails and food around. Next time you find yourself in Destin stop in and take a chance on this little gem of a resturant.

Food and cocktails were delicious and perfectly made. Our server Deverick (I may have misspelled his name) was awesome, great energy and on top of everything. In fact every staff member I interacted with were nice, friendly, upbeat and happy to help. Worked together as a team which is always great to see. Music was fun house/beats very upbeat. Restaurants design was awesome, fit the theme well. Not a huge space but they have tables for every sized party, I'd say definitely make a reservation if you're bringing a large party. Perfect place for date nights, trying to impress clients, going to get great cocktails with friends, Vacationers, and locals a like. 10/10 recommend. we'll definitely be back sooner than later.

The care in putting this menu together while working with local farmers and not compromising for bringing real organically sourced food to the community is absolutely commendable. One of the best farm to table restaurants I've ever had - and we own our own in TN. Fantastic gem.

This is my favorite lunch stop and I hope to catch them for dinner soon. The food and service is impeccable. It's not your typical tourist town deep-fried garbage, but really well done and tasty dishes. Be sure to get the whipped feta!

Every year, for our anniversary, my husband and I like to find a new local places to eat. This year, Bitterroot was our choice. Due to us keeping this review short and sweet, all we can say is that the food was out of this world. Both the chef and sous chef were definitely cooking with happiness. It did take some time for us to get our food, but the filet and rissotto were cooked to order, and the shrimp and grits had levels of flavor that kept making me want more. I would definitely recommend Bitterroot to those who are looking for great food, service, and atmosphere.

Wow, this place is a hidden gem! Forego all of the touristy places, serving up the same old fare. The food and service at Bitterroot is fantastic. We had the whipped ricotta, short rib, shrimp and grits, bone marrow risotto and bread pudding – all were excellent. The bone marrow risotto – that's a chef's kiss! Bitterroot would do well in Chicago, where the market is very competitive. Seriously, check this place out!

Decided to have a float next door and asked the young lady about the food next door. She raved about the appetizers and entrees! Perfect for what I needed. Decided to try the Nutty goat flatbread, between the Gouda, figs and the black pepper dressing…the variety of flavors on my pallet were divine. Moving on to the Coconut &Lemongrass braised short rib, I do believe I took my time and devoured every savory bite. This is a hidden gem on Commons Drive West and the absolute perfect place for a large gathering, date night or single dining such as myself. Kuddos to the staff and Chef!

Nice dinner. Limited menu but what they have is done well

With the economy less than ideal, I find it hard to find a meal worth the cost when food quality is often much higher quality and cheaper preparing at home. Bitterroot obviously employed a chef with experience and education. The blend of ingredients on every dish my wife and I had was refreshingly exquisite. The best part was that the food was not overpriced. Overall, Bitterroot impressed me enough to write a review. It's a cozy little place inside with almost a speakeasy exterior. It could be easily overlooked if not specifically searching for the place. It's definitely a little gem worth going at least once to understand what I'm talking about. It's perfect for an intimate date, an office get together, or just pop in for a drink at the above average bar they have there. I didn't partake, but through observation, it seemed Bitterroot puts just as much customer service and quality control with their drinks as with their food.

Bitterroot is amazing. Not only do they have great service, but are a pillar in the community through their donations and support of Shelter House, a non profit that provides services to domestic violence victims. Thank you Bitterroot for everything you do.

I have been a regular at Bitterroot for years now, and I can confidently say that it is one of my favorite restaurants. What sets it apart from other restaurants is their ever-changing menu that always manages to surprise and delight me. Today, I had the pleasure of trying their collard green soup and I must say, it may just be my favorite soup of all time. The flavors in the soup were perfectly balanced and the texture was just right. I could tell that the ingredients were fresh and of high quality. It was clear that the chef takes great pride in his creations, and it definitely shows in the taste. The roasted beet salad is another must-try dish at Bitterroot. It is bursting with flavors and the combination of ingredients is simply divine. Aside from the amazing food, the service at Bitterroot is always top-notch. The staff, led by Adrian and Heidi, are always friendly and make you feel right at home. They are attentive to your needs and go out of their way to make sure you have a great dining experience. It's refreshing to see a team that truly cares about their customers. Another highlight of Bitterroot is their drinks menu. The old fashion is a personal favorite of mine and I highly recommend giving it a try. The wine selection is also always on point and pairs perfectly with the dishes on the menu. Overall, Bitterroot is a gem of a restaurant. The combination of delicious food, wonderful service, and a cozy atmosphere make it a must-visit for anyone looking for a great dining experience. Some local friends brought us here — I’ve been coming to Destin many times a year for the last five years and never found it myself. This is a gourmet gem with a limited, rotating menu, great wines and cocktails. At first I was amused at the server describing empanadas to my Puerto Rican partner. We opted for the nutty goat flatbread and arancini. She plucked the chicken and dumplings, and I sacrificed the lamb. Yum. Can’t wait to come again and work my way thru the lot, unlike Mr. Creosote who had it all at once.

I am considering this reservation one of the best in Destin area. Highly recommend it!!!

I hesitate leaving this review because I fear it will help tourists discover this hidden gem. We've lived her 4 yrs now and eat out probably 3 times per week from Destin to PCB and Bitterroot is hands down the best restaurant in the area.

We came Christmas Eve for the holiday drink menu primarily and planned to just order multiple small plate options. Well our waitress let us know they had a Waygu steak for 2. We paired it with the cauliflower mash and the brocollini and it was absolutely amazing! I mean here I am over 24 hours later still thinking about that meal LOL! The service was top tier. We never had to ask for more water, etc. All of the staff worked together and honestly this was our best Dining experience in Destin. Highly recommend!

The environment was hole in the wall with class. The food was inspired by Asian and Indian flavors but worry not. There wasn't spice that made food untastable. It tasted so well I want to travel to respected countries. Service was top notch and anticipated. They knew my needs and addressed them immediately. I'm coming through soon.

Loved the whole experience. We got a special Wagyu cut and it was cooked perfectly with the tastiest crust. Drinks and atmosphere were just what we were looking for. Will always come back whenever we visit.

10/10 food! Wagyu burger is the best burger I’ve ever had. This is a perfect spot for fancy food, cozy environment, date night location with prices comparable to the beach bars. We went 2 days in a row because we were obsessed with the amazing foods. The best service, they make sure you are taken care of, but ensure you get quality time with your date. We reserved a quaint little table at this phenomenal restaurant tucked away in Destin and were delighted from start to finish. The restaurant is classy and quiet but still buzzing with atmosphere. It is romantically lit (but you don't need a flashlight to read your menu). Our server was knowledgeable and attentive. The food is fresh with a unique take on many classics. The prices were reasonable for the high quality and experience. We will be back and highly recommend!

We are locals and eat here frequently. The food is amazing, always fresh, very unique dishes. You can tell the chef puts much thought into flavors and food combinations. The restaurant is beautifully decorated and it feels upscale. My only issue is the service. Each time we go, the servers (have only had men so can't speak to the women) are almost downright rude. Many times we've waited a while before anyone even came over, and when they did it seemed as though they did not want to be there. Any questions posed about the menu seemed to exasperate. This is not the type of behavior you'd see at an upscale restaurant. We love the food so no longer dine in but instead order take out. As a business owner myself, I understand how hard it is to find great employees. Hopefully, this is something they can improve upon in the coming year, because the food is certainly on point.

Great, thoughtfully put together, local spot with an ecclectic menu. The loaner reading glasses at the front door are your first sign that they are working hard to think of every detail in this establishment. Interesting menu with unexpected flavor combinations that stun the pallette (in a good way!). My husband said it was the best burger he’s ever had, and my empanadas were definitely the best I’ve ever had. PERFECT pastry on that empanada! Dessert was amazing with a chocolate mousse cake with complex textures and flavors and a bread pudding that stands out with its biscuit base and house made vanilla ice cream to top it off. Fries were amazing shoe string fries with perfect crunch. Down sides: We asked to sub the salad that comes on the dinner menu burger ($20) with the fries (which come automatically on the lunch burger for $18), and they charged an extra $7 for the substitution. Service was good but not stellar. Our server took a little long to greet us given that the restaurant wasn’t particularly busy, and my tea went empty a while. On a side note, she would ask each time whether I wanted a refill, even when we hadn’t even gotten our entrees yet, rather than just bringing another out. This happens to be a pet peeve of mine. Basically, the service was average for this day and time. (Yes, I have officially become an old biddy.) The restaurant is beautifully lit with candles and little candle type lights on the tables. Unfortunately, they use scented candles with a floral scent to them, and it doesn’t compliment the food at all. Also happened to be a scent that almost always triggers migraines for me, so I wonder if it does for others as well. Fortunately, they were gracious about swapping the candle out for one of the little LED lamps, and I didn’t get a headache. All in all, we loved this little spot and will visit again.

I went to this place because some of the pics on Google showed some delicious looking meals. But unfortunately, they didn't have some of the stuff anymore. Well, I ordered their wagyu burger and let me tell you it was one of the best burgers I've ever had. The flavors and seasoning were amazing. We were here in this area for work just for one day, and I'm glad we stopped here for lunch. We will definitely be coming back and look forward to trying their dinner menu.

It was my first Bitterroot experience and one of the best meals I’ve had this year. The Coconut & Lemongrass Braised Short Rib was a flavor bomb of goodness. My companions throughly enjoyed their dishes as well—the Filet w/Bone marrow Risotto and Wagyu Burger. The cocktails were also beautifully presented and so delicious. The service was exceptional as well. Don’t let the location (strip mall) deter you from an amazing experience. Next time I’m in Destin, I’ll absolutely be returning.

We had an amazing experience at Bitterroot! This restaurant offers a farm to table, seasonal menu with fresh and local Ingredients. Our server, Diana, was attentive, patient, and gave wonderful recommendations. Highlights: Szechuan Wings- thin, crispy breading with juicy meat. So flavorful, some of the best wings I’ve had. Coconut & Lemongrass Braised Short Rib- their most popular menu item (pictured). So many amazing flavors and textures. Pops of fresh ginger and coconut, delicious! Cumin Braised Lamb- the lamb is mixed in with noodles. Very different take on lamb, but found it delicious! Not a super saucy noodle dish but great none the less. “Apple” Eggplant Dessert Fritters- our waitress insisted we order and SO GLAD we did. We ordered 3 desserts and this was definitely the favorite (bread pudding was the 2nd favorite). The eggplant in the fritters are sneakily disguised, you could swear you are eating apple. So unique and well done. Served with a delicious crumble, caramel, and whipped cream. I couldn’t recommend this place more! I will be back anytime I am in town.

Beautiful food, beautiful place. Quirky and casually elegant. The food is over the top. Burger is the bestnburger Ihave ever had, but everything we have had here is just phenomenal and different. Best at night, because during the day the light coming in from windows is blinding, management may need to consider closing the blinds. Either way, if you have been hesitant to try this place, as I was...do not hesitate. It is special!

I'm in town for the week and our group decided to make reservations here. I checked out the menu and was really excited! It was everything I was anticipating and did not disappoint!! Our server was Diana, and without exaggerating I estimate that she was top two in best all around server I've experienced yet. She was informative without being patronizing, matched our group's vibe without losing professionalism, and kept all of us so well cared-for without being obtrusive. Very classy and refined, yet humble and fun! So perfect. A server experience like that is not easy to pull off, so it's a reflection on both the manager's ability to hone in on something great, and the human that's great in the first place! On to the food. Our group got quite a few things since the majority of us had never been! It was quite frankly ALL delicious! The margins for "least favorite" and most favorite dishes were very slim. The pictures speak for themselves!! My personal favorite small plate was the Nutty Goat Flatbread. Whew, I could've just eaten that all night! Please do yourself a favor and order it. My personal favorite entree was Salmon Florentine, by a landslide. I had ZERO critiques for that dish!! And finally, dessert. The goat cheese cheesecake didn't compel me to keep talking bites of it. The ice cream, however, was just so good!!! And to finish the night, the bartender crafted us a drink completely from his own brain, and it was good we begged for a second.
