Came in for a beer and was surprised to see no food option. Really wanted to try the pretzel and the brat.. overall a nice little place was quiet and beer was cold and fantastic..

The pretzel with beer cheese and German potato salad were so yummy! This is a nice place for beer and German cuisine. Service was wonderful!

Stopped in for a beer around 2 as we got into town. We were things this would be a fun "German" pub to grab a beer from. Needless to say, we had one beer and dipped. Not very impressive and will not be back.

1st time visit for lunch on a Monday, noticed a few people sitting at the bar. We seen the online menu and we love German food. Waitress came and told us they were only serving appetizers! So I suppose we won’t be back, good riddance poor restaurant!

Food was good and beer was cold. Service was lacking. They weren’t that busy but the two female bartenders were occupied taking shots with the guys at the end of the bar. We were going to get another round but it took her 20 minutes to acknowledge us.

What an incredibly welcoming and comfortable cigar lounge! The owners are exceedingly warm, and the humidor selection is pretty diverse for a smaller lounge in a smaller town! Comfortable, seating, great coffee, and a warm atmosphere… Just what you’re looking for in a cigar lounge! Highly recommend!

Average bar food, but definitely not a Bier Garten. My boyfriend and I ate here for lunch. They opened 20ish minutes late and the food was not worth the price or wait. Ordered two grilled cheese sandwiches and an appetizer with a drink and total was $75 with tip. The bartenders and servers were really sweet, but it was just not what we thought it would be. The only reason I gave two stars was solely due to the staff and how friendly they were.

We really wanted to try this place. Got there at 11:30 for lunch. Sign said they opened at noon. Came back at 12:02 - still not open. I pulled on the door and a young man inside turned and looked at me and then walked away. I stood there a minute and he ignored me. We finally left and several other people were waiting outside as well.

We had actually come here after trying the Blue Coyote and received some of the worst service there and had to walk out after waiting over 30 minutes and not being acknowledged. We decided to give this place a try and from the moment we walked in, the blond bartender (never caught her name) was very nice and gave great service. She even told us if we need something, just pop up to the bar instead of just sitting at the table waiting, cause I know it's a lot to try to handle the bar and table. Our food came pretty fast and was so good. The pretzel was HUGE. We've ordered these pretzels many places but that was the biggest one. (may want to lighten the salt just a bit though). I ordered the reuben and my mom and sister got the chicken quasadillas. Everyone was happy and loved it. The server/bartender was great and so nice. We really loved her and we were just so relieved to have a good experience after our bad experience downstairs.

I really wanted to check this place out, but both times we went they were closed. Hours that they have online are not accurate, as we went at 7pm on Saturday and 6pm on Sunday and they were closed both times. Really would have liked to check this place out

Was here for lunch on a Tuesday... Got our beer within minutes, but... The server/bartender said "I'll be right there" 10 minutes ago(now 45 minutes since we sat down) and shes only interested in those patrons at the bar. Only 12 people here in addition to our party of 4. I closed out our tab and we ventured up the street. Keep walking, especially on a Tuesday.

It’s hard to give this so called restaurant a score as big as a 1. Walked in and immediately told what items they did NOT have. Brought us our drinks and waited another at least 30 minutes before we gave up on ordering food. The bartender completely ignored us. I would not recommend this place.

Had to come back for the beer cheese and pretzel. Top tier again, plus the 3 mustard options! Staff was great. Although the Wi-Fi definitely struggled to keep music playing.

Absolutely great place to eat and drink! If you want authentic German food, this is your place. The fried bologna sandwich is great. Lots of Brats too! Potato salad served warm like it should be!

Cute little bar in the downtown area. We went in and had a great conversation with the owner. Would totally stop here again. Sad we didn't stay long enough to eat.

I’ve been to Black Bear more than 20 times over the past few years and I’ve continuously seen a decline in the service and now the food has continued to decline. Sat at the outside Bar with anticipation of showing a couple of friends how “nice” Black Bear could be. The two bearded bartenders were working the bar and the one with the longer beard and shorter of the two was pretty rude and dismissive of us. We ordered $260 worth of food and drinks and he felt that wasn’t important enough for his time I guess. Once we received our food the food was subpar at best. Black Bear used to be the best in Blue Ridge but it’s certainly fallen to below rope 5. Great atmosphere but disappointing where it really matters.

Walked in right as they opened with 6 of us. Was told we were only allowed to order apps with groups over 4. There are only 4 options for apps. So we could have split up our group and gotten full menu but not the 6 of us together? An absurd rule. I dont mind if the food didnt come out all at once, just tell us and thats fine. The kitchen is very small and thats understandable. Three of us left and went to eat elsewhere so the others could eat a full meal. Missed out on revenue and a good review

Keep walking. Very disappointing. Nothing German about this. Recommended sausage was Johnsonville which should tell you something. Microwaved potato salad and sauerkraut. Come on.

Not a German Bier Garten. Kitchen closed at 6pm in a Saturday. German selection was 5 total. Ours were only okay. Closed at 8pm Saturday’s (google is wrong with the hours). Music is terrible. No German theme, decor, or music. Won’t be back. Rated 2 because they were open and we did have a beer.

Was looking for a hot toddy but they don’t serve any hot beverages. Opted for the Chocolate Kiss which was a good replacement. Some cool saddle seats at a table by the bar.

Little place, but with a good variety of draft beers. Unfortunately, at the time we were there, we was waiting for more than 15 mins and they was offering only appetizers (no to much to select)

Everywhere was such a long wait, we were happy to walk in & order. We sat on the porch & shared a pretzel & 2 beers. Only ordering from the bar & appetizers were available or we would have had more.

This is a cute little bar, the bartenders were very friendly, drinks were on point and omg the BBQ Nachos were delicious!! And enough to feed all 3 of us!!! Definitely recommend for a stop in while in Blue Ridge!!

The place was really busy, but it was a college football Saturday on a holiday weekend. They were only serving appetizers when we went in at 12pm, and unfortunately it was a small menu. The bartender did great for being on her own and the pretzels and beer cheese were good!

The service ruined this place for us. We went in for an appetizer and a beer. The young girls behind the bar were too busy gossiping to get us our drinks. They stood RIGHT IN FRONT OF US for about 5 minutes before even greeting us.

The beer is cold but not half of what they say they have on their website. The food is non existent. We have been here 3 times (we live here) and twice the chef just left without the bartender knowing until the last minute (this last time was at 4:20pm on a summer Friday) and the other time the chef never showed up at all. Worst run kitchen in Blue Ridge.

My friends and I stopped in after doing a little shopping for my friend Tami's birthday week to meet up with our friend Randy who is from the area to have a drink after he patiently waited on us girls to get done doing our thang 😂 we were greeted before we even got to the door and was told by a gentleman to get our butts in there and ignore the Husband Day Care sign we were outside laughing about🤣🤣 it was a customer appreciation day and we were welcomed in like they've known us forever❤️ we very much enjoyed our small talk with the owner and her beautiful daughter Casey and several of the regulars❤️❤️ being a very loved Bartender from Palatka FL who myself strive to make sure any new faces that walk into my bar feels like they are welcome with open arms and right at home I can 100% say that they are on the same exact page as I am❤️ we most definitely will be returning when we come to visit again in the fall and if was possible I would have given them wayyyyyy more then 5 ⭐s❤️ Thank you all again y'all are frickin awesome!!!!!

I went here in May on a cabin trip on a Thursday afternoon. The brats were good and decent beer selection. The only issue was not knowing the kitchen was closing so early (it was right before 5 pm when I ordered)

Saw they claimed to have 5 German beers on tap. We go to Bavaria every other year for Strong Beer Festival (Starkbierfest), so we were really looking forward to it. We ordered two Erdinger Dunkels and one Erdinger Hefewizen. The two Dunkels were almost undrinkable; either extremely dirty bear lines, extremely old beer, or something. But both were definitely off. What they claim to be a hefeweizen (beer brewed with wheat) simply was not. We're not sure what it was they served us out of that tap, but it was definitely made with barley not wheat. If you're craving good German beer and in this part of Georgia simply take the half hour drive to Helen. Whatever you do do not come here you'll be extremely disappointed. (We weren't even bothered by the fact that Billy have a full menu, and handed us a menu, they said they could not serve us food Google apply the party they were having) Doesn't matter, the beer was horrible Don't waste your time!

Very over priced for tiny portions. My husband ordered a $13 Philly cheese steak and that bun was about 5" long at best and very little meat. We will not go back.

The Black Bear has such a unique atmosphere that is worth stopping for whether it is for drinks or a meal. We had a delicious dinner. Everything was fantastic.

We got there around 7:30 on a Sunday and was told the kitchen closed at 6. It was cool, as the long island tea was very good. I asked and normally kitchen closes around 8. We will go back as the Hungarian sausage sounds good.

My husband and I were staying in North Georgia and went to Blue Ridge for a bite. It was a crazy busy day there and basically the only place that could accommodate us was this restaurant and they were very nice. I had the 3 sausage and sauerkraut and my husband had the fried bologna sandwich. It was ok. We also had cider and that I really enjoyed. The bartender who served us was very nice.

First stop in downtown- good place.

We were there on a Monday and had a great time! The bartender can make just about anything you ask her to plus they had a great beer selection. She was also fun to talk to and very attentive to everyone in the place...acknowledged everyone as they walked in. Wish we lived closer as this would be on our regular rotation.

Great place for some beers, we had the giant pretzel with beer cheese for an app. This will not be a place to eat at, which is perfect okay for what it is for. I would come back for cocktails when I'm in town.

The food and beer selection was extremely limited in June. I believe this was due to covid related issues. The atmosphere was great. Would definitely come back post-pandemic.

Sausages do not make German cuisine. Red cabbage was tasteless.

Rating this place a 3 is a stretch. Good price on beer, but only appetizers for food even though they are a restaurant with a full menu. Oh, and did I mention the time was 1pm.

This is the place to settle down after a fun day of riding the train and shopping the Ridge. The staff is above and beyond the best in all of Blue Ridge. The selection of ice cold brews are amazing! Great place if you have kiddos too. So many delectable appetizers to choose from. The most thrilling items on the list are the unique meats they offer. Never even knew some were available! Go get a nice cold draft and some tasty meats! What would you try first?

Very down home Bar and restaurant. While you visit Blue Ridge be sure to stop by and sit a spell and have something to eat and a cold one.

Kim was the best and most friendly bar tender we have ever met. So kind and hardworking. She displayed a level of customer service urgency unparalleled to none. I highly recommend her and this bar and grill to anyone visiting Blue Ridge. Truly a hidden gem is Georgia!

Stopped in for a snack and beers. Surprisingly good beer selection. Highly recommend the giant pretzel with beer cheese. Ran out of cheese at first, but our bartender was quick to make sure we had enough to finish it off. Delicious. Great place to grab a bite while exploring downtown.

Nothing but a good time here. Staff is awesome, great acoustic music on weekends, and you may get lucky enough for an appearance from the one and only Bear dawg. (likes his ears rubbed, FYI)

Stopped here on Saturday and ordered a sausage trio sampler and a Mama Bear cocktail. I ordered the Bavarian bratwurst, a knockwurst, and the venison sausage. All three sausages we're top notch, and the drink was very good. Can't wait to come back again next year
