Everything they bake here is worth the wait! We love the donuts, the cinnamon rolls, and cookies. And the staff couldn’t be friendlier or more patient!

Hands down one of the best bakeries I’ve ever had. I will literally drive the hour long trip just for their treats! So amazing.

I am gluten-free and dairy-free. We happened to drive past this bakery and saw a sign in the window saying they had gluten and diary free options, so we had to stop! I got a gluten and dairy free blueberry muffin (boxed separately). Honestly, it was just ok. It was pretty mushy and very oily. But nonetheless, I am always grateful when places put an effort into making gluten and dairy free items and will def go back to try something else- baking this way can be difficult. The regular items were delicious, per the rest of my family.

Great donuts, and coffee! Luckily, we were staying close and could walk to it, but it’s worthwhile getting off the highway for a visit. Expect a line down the front of the building. Don’t know what it is, but the icing and the donuts just taste different and very good!! Unique flavors. Would highly recommend.

Got doughnuts. Apple fritters were awesome. Didn't have a huge selection but the ones they had were all good.

We stopped by heading home and are sure glad we picked this place!! The breakfast sandwich was SO SO delicious! We got various pastries and donuts and everything was really incredible!! Staff was nice and efficient

Gluten free cake miracle! Freaking amazing. Lovely staff, worth the wait even in the rain, hail, sleet or snow. I usually grab a few gluten free muffins and some donuts for weekend guests. But my favorite is the chickpeas salad sammich on Gluten free bread! Yummers

This place is really cool they have a lot to offer everything's fresh large portions. Easy to get to. If you're in the area this is a must stop the pastries are still fresh even when you get there almost at closing time.. it is in a small town a little setting very nice easy to get from the highway

Just had a Garlicky Potato Carrot Pastie from here and it is so tasty and filling. I could only eat half. Yum! We also got the brownies and shared. Such decadently rich dark chocolate. There are so many sweet & savory choices. Lovely service. Must stop by and try. DL Davis

Black Currant Bakehouse is a must every time we go to Michigan. It's really nice having such a delicious place offer gluten and dairy free/vegan options.

Great experience popping in today during a road trip! Very nice people, and great selection of baked goods. They have REALLY great coffee as well - got a drip coffee with milk and sugar, and it was just what I hoped (I’m very picky with coffee as well, for what it’s worth!) Really nice spot and would love to stop in again!

Making it a point to try all the vegan baked goods I can find within a 45 minute radius of South Bend, and this place has so many yummy options! I tried the vegan cinnamon roll, cinnamon coffee cake, and scone. Everything was delicious! Will definitely be back!

This place is nothing shy of amazing! We live in Michigan City and couldn’t find a bakery you could just wake up and go to. Much less finding this gem. The have the absolute best coffee, the donuts you can tell with how fluffy they are with the perfect amount of sweetness, and the people are great. We weren’t rushed when trying to decide. We were welcomed. We were thanked. You guys have given us a memory with our little guy that will hopefully become tradition. I never knew this place existed and I’m happy we found it. Great job!

Came here while taking a leisurely drive up the Red Arrow Highway. To start the interior is very cool! The vibe is on point! So are the staff, they were excellent, especially with their recommendations. My fiance and I split the namesake Black Currant Donut. It was so pillowy and delicious with that black currant frosting! I could buy a whole dozen of them! And then we split a piece of the salted caramel cheesecake. That was a darn good cheesecake! Great flavor and the texture was wonderful! Would definitely return here .

My favorite Michigan bakery/coffeehouse. Best Spiced Mocha and baked goods in all of SW MI. Don't mind the 30 minute drive from NWI every once in awhile to treat myself to any of their bakes goods and a coffee.

I’m sitting here right now, 20 mins into my first ever visit. I had a raspberry danish- wow. Wow!!!! It’s January , but the danish made it taste like summer. Gorgeous pastries everywhere. If I’m ever back in Lakeview, this will be THE bakery to go to.

Found this neat coffee shop on a road trip. My cappuccino was pretty good, and my SO's black currant tea smelled like fresh pie, she really liked it. The apple fritter we split was insanely delicious, hands down the best part!

Awesome place! About 45 minutes from my home. This was my first time, but not my last. Worth the 45-minute drive. Food was fresh, flavorful and like a mouthful of heaven!

We had Black Currant supply an assortment of desserts for our wedding 11.11.23 and I cannot rave about them enough. Working with Katie was extremely pleasant and she even worked with us around our guest count to not order too much. We had a 1 tier wedding cake, brownies, and assortments of cupcakes, donuts and crumb bars. My only regret from my wedding was not eating more desserts in the moment because I was busy dancing! Luckily, the venue wrapped up the leftovers so my husband and I got to enjoy it all the next day. We couldn’t resist saving wedding cake for a year and decided to eat our cake now then go back for our anniversary to the bakery and have a fresh piece of our wedding cake.

Absolutely loved this place! My partner and I even had to stop to get more so we could bring some home with us. The people were very nice and not pushy.

My husband and I visited while on vacation and got the chickpea salad sandwich and garden veggie on gluten free and both were great! My personal fave was the chickpea salad as it had some really great flavor! It’s always nice to find gluten free vegan options, I would definitely go again!

Hubby and I were passing through on a road trip. We stopped at Black Currant Bakehouse for donuts but they were out by the time we arrived. We decided to try the Lemon Cornmeal Cookie and the Sprinkle Sugar Cookie. They were both AMAZING!! Some of the BEST bakery cookies we've ever had. Good taste and texture! Black Currant Bakehouse is cute with friendly staff. The prices are affordable, and they have a pretty large bakery menu, as well as sandwiches. We highly recommend this bakehouse and if we're ever in the area again we will definitely be stopping in again.

Arriving right at the peak of the morning rush I waited less than 5 minutes to order and couldn’t have been more delighted by the pastries and coffee ordered. This gem has an excellent selection of baked goods, donuts and amazing coffee drinks.

Absolutely delicious! Had a wedding cake latte and giant chocolate chip cookies for my family and it was so delicious. Definitely plan on going back again. I don’t think you can go wrong with anything you get here.

If you are in the area, it's definitely worth it to stop by. They have good pastries and good coffee. My iced latte was very good. The blueberry pancake donut was incredible, same with the cinnamon roll with cream cheese and the sticky pecan bun. My family and I loved everything.

There will probably be a line, but the pastries are worth it. The grilled cheese is also delicious, and it comes with potato chips, which makes the whole thing better. Good service, very kind people behind the counter. Just a few tables inside and eating right outside is not an option! Take away is the safe bet.

What an adorable little bakery! This is our second time visiting the area and our first stop here. It will NOT be our last. The apple fritter was hands down the best one I have had to date. The young lady who helped me was so kind. She picked me out a stellar apple fritter that was huge and had lots of fresh apples! We even had some laughs, too! I can't wait to come back to this adorable establishment!!!!!!

I came here while we were on vacation for Fathers Day breakfast and the line was down the sidewalk! I knew this place was going to be good. I didn’t mind waiting. When I got inside I was helped right away and I purchased a few donuts & a cinnamon roll. The workers are so friendly. The only thing I was disappointed about was I thought they had a bigger selection of breakfast sandwiches but all I saw on the board was the beach bum. This place was so good, highly recommend.

These desserts are seriously awesome! They recently provided a beautiful cake and various desserts for a wedding I coordinated! The guests loved them and the couple was so happy. As a planner/coordinator, I will definitely be recommending them to my clients!

Locally sourced and amazingly delicious! Loved the Reuben sandwich and wildberry bars. Come early for lots of options. Very friendly and service oriented staff members. Eat at the beach down the street!
