The food and service here are fantastic. Amman, Celi, and Mary provided an exceptional experience. We loved the burrata, Margherita pizza, Meatballs, Campanella, braised lamb shoulder (holy freaking fantastic. Sheesh.), and Tiramisu (also, WOW).

A very nice scene and great service but food was meh. Ordered the bok choy appetizer and while great in theory was way too salty. Two ppl had pasta which was OK (cavatelli and the pasta with bolognese) and the margherita pizza was probably the best. Still enjoyed our experience but definitely they can work on the food for sure.

We were sat in Sam’s section (awesome guy). He greeted us graciously, gave us some time with the menu and we ordered our drinks. Marinated olives, garlic scapes and kale salad to start. The olives were fine - nothing noteworthy here but not bad either. The garlic scapes were fantastic. Not a typical menu item most people are using to seeing but cooked well and the flavor was great. The kale was executed well and the breadcrumbs and cheese make for an excellent texture. Sam recommended, among others, the radiatori and the funghi pizza. The radiatori had a delicious hearty ragu sauce and was cooked to a true Al dente and the pork and beef made for a robust dish. Next the funghi pizza with the added Italian sausage (another great recommendation from Sam) a white pizza with great texture and combination of flavors. Funghi pizza makes for a good vegetarian option but for the meat eaters around, the sausage is a must have here. Crust is doughy but cooked through with the tiniest bit of char to give it that rustic taste. Wonderful, no notes. We finished off with possibly the largest slice of Tiramisu I have ever received (outside of family functions). Very generous portion and again great flavor profile here. Overall Blackbird is comfortably in the must-visit restaurants for Bozeman visitors. Beautiful, warm atmosphere that is true to Montana with abundant wood decor but pairing an urban chic that works well in the space. The staff could not have been more accommodating and made us feel like family from the moment we walked in. We will be back again

The fresh pasta is good. It’s pretty spendy. My husband’s pizza came out way after the pasta and the waitress said nothing about it. In the meantime, they tried to serve us the wrong entree. Pizza didn’t have much cheese, but the burrata was quite good. Bread was $7 and we weren’t warned that there was a cost. And it was really basic. Service was not great and line to get in is long. Feels overrated for what it is.

Food: I did not think the pizza was going to be as good as it was! It has so much flavor and one of the better pizzas in Bozeman! Service: Server was friendly and upbeat! She seemed knowledgeable and helpful. Atmosphere: It is busy! So it can be a little crowded but it has a decent amount of tables. I would try to make a reservation in advance.

Worst restaurant during our 3 week vacation in Calgary, Banff, Lake Louise, Kalispell and Livingston I had the lamb garganeli Pasta had to be out of an old box. Al Dente is good. Hard and crunchy is not. Also no sauce with the lamb. My wife had the ravioli with Pesto. It was overloaded with pesto. And it too was not cooked long enough Bread was overcooked, probably to 220. Dark brown and crunchy. Wine was good and at a fair price but do you think the waitress would offer to refill our glasses Owner was there. He saw we only ate 1/3 of our dishes but never asked why. He played on his computer and thermostat while drinking red wine out of a water glass I never take time to review a bad meal unless really bad. This was worth writing about

Nice place for a date night. The Napoleon style burrata margherita pizza was the highlight of the show! Perfect amount of delicious margherita sauce on a very thin bottom crust. Was going to try the kale salad but went for the wood oven bok choi with lions mane mushrooms and it did not disappoint. The radiatori was an interesting pasta shape that I've not tried, and it was a pleasant discovery. It holds a lot of sauce like a sponge. Happy we picked Blackbird as our first dinner in Bozeman. Reservation was a bit hard to make, but when we went at 9pm there were a few empty tables, so walk in is probably possible

My daughter and I loved this restaurant. The food was very very good and we enjoyed sitting at the counter in front of the kitchen and watching them make the pizzas, etc. The pizza here is excellent. We also enjoyed some seasonal vegetables and salad. Everything we ate was great and the people sitting next door to us loved their food as well. I highly recommend it!!

This place has a nice vibe. Perhaps there was a staffing shortage, but we were disappointed in our experience. We walked in for seating and were offered a table if we could leave in an hour. Since we had a place to be after dinner we were fine with that. Our waitress was very nice, but I suspect she was covering too many tables since everything took a long time to get to us. There was a long wait between our salad and pizza. Our pizzas were just warm as if they had been sitting there waiting to be delivered to our table. This was deeply disappointing and since we had a time limit we chose not to send the pizza back.

The food was good, but for prices and serving sizes that imply the best food in Montana, it was lacking. The bread was definitely made in house, but it was 7$ for two slices, which you could get free at other restaurants. When I ordered a sausage pizza, I was thoroughly disappointed to see only 1-2 sausages per slice, especially when slices were about 1/6 of the pizza and it was a 5$ up charge. Decent food, bad prices and servings

Delicious eats. The best kale salad u have ever eaten and some months I get it weekly. So good. This trip we tried the vegetable. Broccolini and sweet potatoes and we finished with the mostrada pizza. Definitely recommend the food is on point.

I recently dined at Blackbird Restaurant in Bozeman and was thoroughly impressed by the freshness of their kale salad. Food was great. The place was super modern. Waiters were nice and fast. I dont remember what the pizza was called but the one with red sause, basil, mozzarella, and sesame was very good. The taste questioned my taste buds. The thing I don’t like is that the restrooms are gender neutral. I don’t want to use the restroom and see women in there. If you want to support lgbtq make them their own restroom.

The only thing I eat more in this world than pizza are Fish n Chips but we arent here to talk about that. We are gathered here today to talk about pizza. “Pizza is like sex, when its good its good and when its bad its still good.” The blackbird on the night I visited danced very close to dispelling that tale. We, our group of 10, were lucky enough to get in as walk ins. Our scouts were seated within 30 minutes of walking in asking for a table large enough to seat us all. Pretty good in my estimation. We heard many good things about the BlackBird and really wanted to try it out since the last place I had world class pizza was in Austin Texas (one of few redeeming features of Texas). Walking in after figuring out the entrance is not the first door we walked up on (user error) We entered a very nicely designed open kitchen restaurant. The smells emitting from there were Devine. I really love Italian food and pizza especially. We were escorted to our table and sat, laughed and waited for our helper. Roughly 12m 43s later our helper showed up for drink orders. Phew, beer on the way! About 5m 3s later another helper, younger and not as curt, brought us menus. Losing track of time but noticing our drinks haven’t showed up yet (8m after the menu delivery) our drinks showed up. Yes, the restaurant was busy and yes the bar appeared to be full but we are pushing on 30 minutes for drinks alone. My heart began to sink. I think Tom T. Hall sang it best in his song “I Like Beer” I like beer, BEER It makes me a jolly good fellow. Given that, beer is a cold and refreshing alcoholic beverage but Beer is not however, as the English may say it “piss warm and flat”. My heart began to sink further. I sent it back and received a much better quality replacement in 3m 12s. My heart was filled with joy. Somewhere in all the ordering of drinks and receiving our menus we ordered our food. More drinks and some enchanting tales of the days or yore, our dishes began to arrive (53 munties 24 cekons later). I attached a photo (couldnt attach the photo, use your minds eye) of what I ate which had some real good flavors and a huge pile of aru… aru… arugula on top of it. I do love arugula. Peppery green food that could have been served as a starter salad there was so much on the pizza. However after having had a bite of the pizza I found that it was a reassuring respite from the burnt crust that lurked ominously on the underside of the pizza. You see those burnt bubbles of love (minds eye again) in the photo, imagine the whole bottom being like that. It was bitter and off putting to my delicate palate. Whatever culinary breakthroughs may have been achieved with the sauce, toppings etc were over powered by the bitter burnt crust. You may be thinking now that this guy is a “malcontent” or just “expects too much from a pizza joint”. Well my dear readers, nothing could be further from the truth. I was not the only one commenting on the quality of their food and we ordered allot of it. When all said and done about $600 of various dishes and drinks (10 people remember). Does that equate quality fare? I think it does. I mean you aren’t paying for live comedy. No. You came to a highly suggested and recommended restaurant to have a good meal with friends. The next time Im in Bozangeles I will try the BlackBird and update my post if it garners updating. Like I said earlier, I do love Pizza and the restaurant was busy (not Christmas 12/16). Also I believe in giving second chances. God knows I’ve benefited from the grace of a second chance before. What exactly am I trying to say after all the hearty Repartée.? Go. Bring friends and please prove me wrong. I want to believe that my experience was that one in a million off nights the BlackBird has had as all restaurants will. Total time in country 1h 51m 12s. BozeAngeles - northern resettling colony for Angeleans to come and claim to be their “own find”. Ever heard of Lewis and Clark? Bitter…. Yes I am. UPDATE: I returned, I gave them a second chance AND…. Arrogant staff, burnt food. Never again.

My experience at blackbird was amazing! The ambience of the place was great, the service was spectacular, and every dish was delicious! We had the beans, burrata, and bread to start - the beans were the star here. I had the kale salad & rotollo, both were so perfect! Finished with the gelato and wow, it was sublime. My friends said the tiramisu was also delicious! The wine was very nice. Our waitress was kind and just had a great overall vibe. I would definitely recommend this place!

One of the places I was most excited to try!… turned to much disappointment. I booked this place a month in advance because I was very excited to try this restaurant. To start off we ordered wine but many of the wines they list such as Cabernet or Pinot are actually red blends, giving a different flavor profile to the body wine. Afterwords, our food came out cold and not as described in the menu. Our waitress was very kind and accommodating to the problems we encountered. The atmosphere is very welcoming and cozy, but I wish our tastebuds felt the same. I really do wish we had a better experience at this restaurant.

So my friend and I went here with our beautiful wives to surprise them of this hard to get in place. ( 1 month in advance) Blackbird presents itself as a culinary destination with an emphasis on elevated dining experiences, but our visit left much to be desired. While the service was undeniably attentive, it couldn't salvage the disappointment of lackluster dishes that failed to live up to their lofty price tags. Portions were laughably small, leaving us feeling more hungry than satisfied, and the flavors were unremarkable at best. Each dish seemed to lack the creativity and finesse one would expect from a restaurant of Blackbird's reputation. Despite our hopes for a memorable dining experience, the reality fell short. It's disheartening when a restaurant relies on its ambiance and reputation to justify overpricing mediocre food. In a city teeming with culinary delights, Blackbird failed to distinguish itself in anything other than its ability to disappoint.

Incredible food and a Bozeman staple. The dining experience is smooth, elegant and professional. The menu has a little bit of everything. You could easily feed yourself just on appetizers and salads but it's worth exploring the entrées! We had their fresh bread which is magical. I don't know what they do to their bread but it is heavenly. We had the bread with the white bean appetizer and then the warm cabbage salad. The cabbage salad was absolutely delicious but too big of a portion between the two of us to finish before our entree. It was quite rich! It was a great left over side dish, though! The pasta I had was divine. It was rotolo spinach and the pasta was perfectly cooked and the filling was just this incredible mixture of flavors and textures. You must eat here!

Food was decent but not considering the prices. The atmosphere was nice for conversations and they didn’t have loud music playing. Service was good. Staff was attentive and helpful. Although they automatically included gratuity in the tab. I consider myself a very fair tipper but I hate when establishments do this. It’s simple, pay your staff a fair wage and include it in the price upfront. Otherwise it’s deception.

The pizza is fine if you're into that; I'll pass generally. We had some sort of seared vegetable that was good. But my god the service, yeesh. Took 15 - 20 minutes to get a drink and the lady acted like we were annoying her. Look I lived in Denver for the better part of a decade, so I get you're trying to appeal to "city folk" with your cavalier approach to service, but here in the real world, we prefer to not be sneered at. I'll continue to take the in-laws to Feast where we feel wanted and they understand that when charging these sort of prices, people want SERVICE. If they want pizza, Cosmic does the trick just fine and I'll serve my own bottle of Montepulciano for 1/4 the price. If they miss the "ambiance" that Blackbird offers, then I'll throw on PBS Newshour while we eat and I'll put on my headphones.

We visit Bozeman 2-3 time per year and try to dine at Blackbird. Not sure what happened this time but I am compelled to change my rating from five stars to three. We waited over 20 minutes to get our wine and over 90 minutes to have our dinner. Please pick up the pace here it's such a waste I have to think twice if I come back.

Tortelli were served in a chipped bowl. While tasty they were still swimming in cooking water which diluted the flavor. For $26 I would have expected at least a couple more tortelli. The pasta in my husband’s bucatini was way undercooked…there’s al dente and then there’s AL DENTE. Service was meh. Our server was nice but never came back to fill water or check on meal. The person who seated our group bordered on rude. It was pricey and not fantastic food that one would expect for the price. I’m sad to say it really wasn’t worth it. And it was really loud to the point that we had trouble hearing each other. We’ve come here over the years and have enjoyed our experience in the past.

Blackbird’s pizzas are delicious! We have not had good experiences with their pasta and appetizers though; there are better Italian food options in the area. The atmosphere is cute, but they need to dial down the music. It’s way too loud and their music selection never seems to pair well with their atmosphere. It can be very difficult to have a conversation through it all. Depending on wait staff, service can be slow.

Amazing food. Went there over the summer and had a fantastic meal. Ordered a lamb ragu pasta that was mid but the Pizza and bison steak was top notch excellent. Service was good. My only critique is that the lighting on one side of the restaurant is very dim at night. So dim that I had to use the light from the street light through the window to see the menu. Luckily another table opned up that we were able to move to before our food came out.

Ive been here quite a few times by now. The service seems to get worse every time I come. We put a reservation with notes of 2 birthdays, and they did not even take the time to read the reservation. Im not sure if its all new staff, but they seems disorganized and unhelpful. We were sat and it took the server 15 minutes to come to the table. We had to flag down someone that had no idea who our server was suppose to be. Again, this was when they opened. One 2 tables in the restaurant. The pizzas are absolutely on point. Pasta is meh at best. All their apps are a pass at this point. Most of the stuff besides pizza is undercooked or over cooked. I asked if they had a white sauce and she recommended a dish that did not have any sauce at all. Im gonna be putting this place in the deep back pocket to return. Most likely only for pizza.

Blackbird served up one of the best pizza's I may have ever had. This place is very cool, and if I was a Bozeman local, I'd come here weekly. The menu rotates weekly to bi-weekly from my understanding and conversing with the staff and I'm excited for the chance I get to go back. I'd highly recommend Blackbird to anyone in or visiting Bozeman and for a pro-tip, reserve a spot at their Kitchen Counter.

By the end of the meal, we were both still hungry and concluded it wasn’t worth the hassle of a reservation weeks ahead or $26/plate. Also, we do not recommend the white bean crostini appetizer… it had zero flavor with two, tiny burnt ends of bread.

Delicious Italian, in a welcoming, cozy space with an open kitchen and wrap around bar. Food is all very chef driven and unique, and everything tasted delicious. For fall they had a few Mediterranean inspired flavors like merguez sausage on pizza and a kefta meatball in yogurt sauce. We enjoyed their kale salad, warm white beans, amatriciana pasta, and tortelli pasta with chanterelles. We reserved a 5pm table for 4 as that’s all that was available, but the restaurant wasn’t full or busy the whole time we were there. Staff were attentive and very sweet. Wine list was extensive and both our bubblies (a sparkling white and a lambrusco) were delicious. Would highly recommend for a nice dinner out in Bozeman!

If I’m going to spend over $40/person I expect a more elevated experience, which includes cloth napkins and main course options that go above and beyond pizza and pasta. Nice staff, cute resturaunt. The broccolini side dish was the star of my party’s 4 course meal. I made the mistake of ordering the lamb rack which was overcooked and egregiously overpriced. But everything else was phenomenal. I’d skip the meats and stick to the pastas and salads, you’ll have a great time!

The service was very sub par: hostess was running around barely finishing her sentence when talking to people, they got every step of our orders wrong at the table (wrong wine brought to table, forgot we ordered appetizers and had to double check, we never got sides and condiments that we asked for, etc.). Overall felt like a rushed experience that I will not come back for.

After a week of great meals and dining experiences in Montana, including Bozeman, Whitefish and Missoula, we had our only disappointment with Blackbird. From the moment we walked in we got a vibe that we were being tolerated. The hostess did not acknowledge us for several minutes as she fiddled with an IPad. We were seated at one of those annoying tables where the tables are lined up on a wall with just enough space to walk between the tables. Our server was barely communicative. We ordered drinks, then after they arrived, we ordered the Cauliflower appetizer and two entrees. After a lengthy wait, they brought our entrees. We informed the runner who brought our entrees that we had ordered an appetizer. She left and came back quickly and removed the entrees. She came back a few minutes later to tell us she had brought the entrees to the wrong table. After another lengthy wait, the appetizer arrived. It was delicious. After our entrees arrived (hot plates that looked just like the ones delivered before our appetizer - still delicious), our server took my empty iced tea glass without saying a word. I assumed that she was going to bring a refill. I was wrong. After waiting a while, she came to refill my water. I asked for another iced tea. It arrived shortly. The server never asked how our appetizer or entrees were. At that point, another patron wanted to speak with the party seated next to us and sat down in the space between our tables, as though we were not even there. With the evening pretty much shot, we asked for the check. That came quicker than anything else that night. And of course, I was charged for 2 iced teas (I've never been charged for iced tea refills even at restaurants much nicer than Blackbird). We eat out at a variety of sit down restaurants regularly and I can't recall such unwelcoming and poor service. BTW, I used Resy for the reservation. Maybe they don't really want tourist to eat there.

One of the best places in Bozeman. The food was delicious as always. Their wait staff and servers are the best. However, I'm not a fan of their new scheme of plating & sending of food as soon as it's done. I got my pizza very quickly, but my two companions' dishes were 15 and 20 minutes behind mine. So, I had to decide whether to eat my pizza in front of them while it was hot or wait until their food arrived and eat mine cold. It's just awkward.

We enjoyed stopping in for dinner on the recommendation of a friend. We booked a table and arrived on time and were seated within a few minutes. The bread is delicious and I'm not a bread eater in general. We also each enjoyed a cocktail and glass of wine with the meal. The selections are eclectic and are based on achieving a certain ambiance. This is not a run-of-the-mill menu and wine list. If you're adventurous this is an very approachable place to dine. Our dinner consisted of the pate with fig jam as a starter. I had the Bison New York Strip (delicious) and my companion had the Santo pizza. Everything was tasty, came out at the right temperature and was a reasonable portion. We did decide to forgo dessert and opted instead for a drink on the way back to our motel. Overall recommended and suggest a reservation to avoid long waits for a table.

Trendy, in a bad way. Order more than you think you'll need, as portions are small. Pizza was tasty, but sparse and very thin crust (flimsy, quickly becomes soggy). My visit to this restaurant was just okay. One thing to note is that if they sit you close to the pizza area, be prepared for constant noise from dishes being washed, which can be quite distracting.
