Great place, good food and cool view. We will go back.

The atmosphere is quiet and looking out on the water is nice. The server was professional, attentive and pleasant. The cheese curds are delicious. I had the Shrimp Alfredo and it was the best Alfredo sauce I ever had. My husband had the Shrimp Tacos and enjoyed them. We have never had a bad meal here. We will visit again.

We had a outstanding meal ! The service and food are excellent can not say enough good things about this restaurant. If you have not been there please try it out. You will be very surprised. Just a all around great experience.

Great grilled grouper sandwich with smoked cheese grits

I went there for a quick lunch after showing some homes in the area and I had the Buffalo Chicken Sandwich with macaroni and cheese as a side and it was so amazing. I couldn't eat it all and took some home for dinner later. I had a great spot by the window and the staff was nice and on point. I bought some gift cards and plan to come back more often.

Diverse menu, fried calamari, mahi, ..delicious. reasonably priced. Thursdays, half off appetizers. Great wait staff.

GREAT food ... every single time! I have never known my husband to "LOVE" a salad so much that he requests to visit a restaurant JUST FOR THE WEDGE SALAD! Honestly, everything we have tried is absolutely perfect. A little bit of everything ... something for everyone. Prices are very fair. Staff is very kind and seem to love their jobs - very personable. A plus ... they take reservations. We generally arrive with 8+ people in our party, and they handle the large party seamlessly with food coming out in a timely manner and mostly at the same time. Nice atmosphere. Clean. Views of the water and sometimes wildlife. Easy parking. Accessible, covered ramps - because, you know ... FLORIDA ... it rains when it wants to. I highly recommend this establishment!

Wonderful 8oz filet dinner! Great cocktails and dessert.

Really nice river views, I saw an alligator. Super chill vibes, not stuffy or pretentious. Daniel was our server and he was so super great. We had the carpaccio, a little too much sauce and I don’t love the hard boiled eggs. Ahi tuna appetizer, yummy but again too much sauce. I had the blackened shrimp with grits. Omg the grits!!!! So yummy. My husband had the grouper. His fish was so moist and super tender. His dish though was again drenched is sauce. I think you can tell, I’m not a sauce person. The cobbler is to die for!!!!! Get it.

What can I say about this hidden gem! Elevated flavor profiles, perfectly cooked and service from Daniel was just outstanding! Such a relaxed casual elegant atmosphere with great river views. Enjoy!

Fabulous experience for our anniversary. We never expected this type of dining experience in the area. Our first time and were wowwed. The food was perfect, with a great atmosphere and our server, sorry forgot her name was a gem. We will certainly be back again. And will put this on the list to take out of town guests.

Best restaurant in the area. Not inexpensive but outstanding quality.

Found this place on one of our random drives. The location was right on the riverside with beautiful views. Our server was very nice. Soft jazzy music playing in the background and food was very good (though it needed a little salt).

Awesome atmosphere! Sat at a window table that looked out over the water. Really good food. Great find! Had the steak and cheese grits for my side sooo good. Ahi for appetizer was soo fresh and tasty. And definitely try the triple berry cobbler delish! We really enjoyed everything. Great Sunday drive destination.

We had fresh catch (Red Snapper) and shrimp and grits today...absolutely delicious. And with a beautiful view of the river. Great service, peaceful surroundings--highly recommend this place!

Travis was amazing, he was our server, bartender and bus boy he was literally running the place and doing a fantastic job. I ordered the fresh fish tacos which was a combo of grouper and snapper and they were great. My boyfriend had the seared tuna tacos and loved them. Great portions.

After spending the day fishing with Capt JC from Rocky Bottom Charters, he recommended we take our catch to Blackwater, where they cook your catch. This is an excellent restaurant with a beautiful view of the river while you eat. They blackened our trout to perfection! And the green beans😋. After notifying our server Daniel that we were celebrating our 25th wedding anniversary, he slyly found out what dessert we would choose in a poll and surprised us with with the chocolate bread pudding. We enjoyed ourselves and hope you do too.

Pianist was great when you walk in to set the atmosphere with the setting of the tables and views. Great vibes before even sitting down at the table. Staff is beyond excellent. We did not have a reservation but we were seated within 30 seconds. If you do have a reservation your table is ready as well no wait. Food is incredible loaded pork chops amazing, the filet was just mouth watering fall apart in your mouth medium rare.

Love to go for the half price appetizers. Staff is great.Food tastes good.

Loved going here with my ex , we had many memories here!! As well with almost everywhere on the water, there's no place we haven't been but this one was one of our favorites to stop in at when we had a boat day!!!!

Celebrated my parents 60th wedding anniversary here and I could not imagine a better experience. The atmosphere was excellent and Daniel's service was exceptional. The food was delicious and the portions generous. Couldn't have selected s better location to celebrate this special day and will definitely be returning.

If you are thinking about eating here, just go. Very good food that is off the beaten path but so worth it. Call before you go. Personally, the Shrimp and Grits have a very special red gravey.

I had a fantastic shrimp lunch today with a good atmosphere and great service. Travis was my waiter who was very helpful. The food was great and came out hot and fresh, will definitely be back in the future.

Our server Daniel was awesome. I wasn't impressed with the blackened chicken Alfredo. The shrimp and grits changed a lot. The brown gravy was really thick. Maybe add that on the side. The gator tail was some of the best I've ever had. Nice place. I think next time we'll stick to drinks and appetizers. Wasn't happy with supper, but will give it another shot next time we're there.

Went on their date night special! I believe you need a reservation, but don't quote me on that. With the date night you get a free appetizer and dessert, so def worth making time for! We got alligator bites for an appetizer, they were fried and served with a spicy/tangy sauce. One thing I found interesting about the menu is that you choose your meat (chicken, steak cut, pork chop, etc) and then for a small charge, You can upgrade it to be cooked a different way. You don't have to upgrade it, but we decided to. My husband got the pork chops cooked southern style and I got a filet mignon loaded style. His pork chops came with an andouille gravy and two fried cornbread fritters. He told me they were the best pork chops he has ever had. He was absolutely get it again. My steak had mushrooms, onions, and a cheese sauce over mashed potatoes. For the small upgraded charge ($3?) it was totally worth it as you can see in the pictures. I also got a Cesar salad, which I really enjoyed. For dessert we got a berry cobbler and it was hot, and delicious. I would def get that cobbler again. It was a lot of food so we had to take some home. The place is located on the water and has a great view. Perfect for a special occasion! Between the views, food, and service, I would def be back here!

Very impressive and HIGHLY RECOMMENDED. Greeted with smiles, seated promptly at a table with a beautiful view of the waterfront. Cocktail was fabulous and made with love, Yania. The manager Bobbie checked in with me and I could only give praise for my experience and food and Daniel was extremely helpful with explaining the menu and was such a delightful person. Chef Pam I give you the best of compliments WOW that was all I had hoped for and more. I can say that this is by far a ten star out of 5 restaurant. I'm already looking forward to my next visit and meal.

I try to be brutally honest in my reviews..sometimes you need to hear the truth. This place could be a gold mine. But its not. Its in a location that could make people feel like part of old lost Florida..and EVERYONE wants a part if that...but instead you feel like youre having lunch at your dentists office. The food is good. The service is good. But...the hunter green paint, the old croney music just kills what could be awesome! If the ownership would open up the back facing the water, put a "real" bar right down the center of the place, decorate with an old florida nautical theme, play some cool beach music, ditch the $30 dinner plates for what young people eat...oysters, clams, burgers, wings, etc..people would come from everywhere! We were there at high noon on a beautiful Saturday because Crackers on the water was standing room only. We were one of three couples in the whole place here. Cmon! Its like your hearts not in it! That place should be slammed on a Saturday...could be...your call. Maybe theyre just afraid of pushback from the locals...if thats the case...sell it.

They have a pretty tasty burger, but don't leave without trying the mac & cheese. Blackwater has the best mac & cheese I've ever had! 🤌😋 I've stopped by just to pick up the mac & cheese on my way to catch a sunset at Bird Creek. ↪️ Beautiful river views 👌

I had the filet mignon and my parents had the grouper one with the fettuccine she absolutely loved it and he had his with mashed potatoes the garlic mashed potatoes all of our dinners were absolutely fabulous we also had the wedge salad oh my gosh it's so good, very professional very kind and very on top of things I would recommend eating there and it's beautiful to you know the view of the river

Very friendly staff. The one and only bartender for the entire restaurant made my 9 yr old daughter a virgin mojito. The stuffed dates were delicious, I had the shrimp and my husband had the grouper. Both were delicious. My daughter had the kids Alfredo which was enough for an adult and really good. There are not many options in the area, so this restaurant probably could be busy regardless of their food or service but they do not slack off. My daughter was impressed with the number of kids options and that they gave her a whole selection of crayons, not just 3.

Nice restaurant with a view of the river. Meal is generous and well prepared. It's a shame that the dining experience is somewhat spoiled by no one at the front desk and a long time standing there waiting to be seated. After the meal it was a long wait for the dirty dishes to be removed. we had to go search for someone to get the check. Will definitely go back with the hope of a better experience.

Excellent food. You get a lot of food for the money. Nice quite relaxing atmosphere. All food is cooked to order. It may take longer than the average chain fast food places, but the food is worth it. Staff is friendly and helpful. This is a definite place we will come back to.

We made an online reservation for 3pm on a Friday, not busy, but a nice steady flow for late afternoon. Travis was our server, he took great care of us. Very nice to see professionalism and regular colored hair is still out there. Food was great, we had the wedge, grouper, and shrimp and grits. River was up and beautiful. Thank you. Celebrated my 77th birthday at Blackwater last night. Everyone was so gracious and helped make my special day special. My red snapper was fantastic. Highly recommend

The food is always amazing, the service is great and the view is beautiful if you get there early enough. I would only suggest that they add light outside on the Dock to make the view better at night.

Every time we have people visiting we take them to Blackwater Grill. The food is always great, service is great and it is a beautiful setting. And the Filet and grouper is the best around;

Best calamari I've ever had. So good ,I ordered a second. The Etoufe was a new dish for me. If you go to Blackwater restaurant, try it. The flavors were out of this world. Two days later,and I'm still thinking about it. Thanks Blackwater, Sam in Ohio

People are wonderful, food was exceptional. Was there after dark so didn't get the whole "on the water" vibe, but location seems great.

Party of 6 sat down for dinner and cocktails on a Sunday night. Our waitor was very polite and accommodating. Asked for brandy old fashions, no brandy. Asked for gin and tonic with olives. No olives. Asked for Vodka and sour. No sour. Settled for whatever they could make, wasn't easy. We almost all got up and left but, decided to stay because it was late and all were hungry. Glad we did. ALL the dishes we ordered were excellent. One problem though. If you are going to order a $50 steak, there are no baked potatoes on the menu!! Disappointing. Be prepared to have a excellent meal with excellent service and VERY limited bar selection. Otherwise, I would have rated this a 5 star experience.

Absolutely the best restaurant in the area! Great service, wonderful owners and the cook is Magnificent! I highly recommend The Blackwater Restaurant to everyone. They have Half Price deals that are as sweet as their desserts. Do yourself a favor, check it out.

Worst customer service ever. Drove 2 hours, party of 6. Website doesn't indicate reservations required. Got there at 6:00pm hostess said "we have no tables". I offered to wait and she replied "all our reservations will show up, so we have no tables". She was rude, condescending and did not offer any type of an accommodation. The restaurant was half empty. WOW

The best restaurant on the nature coast! Beautiful views of the Withlacoochee River, excellent food! Their ahi tuna is outstanding....well everything I've ordered has been outstanding! The owners are incredible, hardworking people that genuinely care how your experience is! I'd give 10 stars if I could!

Beautiful place and the food was awesome

Two large groups today at the same time. Travis did a marvelous job with a great attitude.

We had reservations February 1st at 5pm. We had to a wait a bit to be seated. When finally seated, the waitress was not very, attentive, like she was new. The food was average. When you spend the money we did, we expect better.

Beautiful lakeside restaurant, for any occasion! Delicious food with a nice selection and daily specials and fish of the day. Service was excellent and we were impressed with every menu item! The entree’s also come with the option of cooking style. I chose Mediterranean for my red snapper dish and chose side of perfectly cooked grits! Burgers are huge! Green beans were awesome with parm cheese and bacon! We Will be back!

Host ask if we wanted a window seat after we was seated in the middle of room which was so nice of her. Services was great, the gator tails was best I've ever had , so fresh!I ordered me wife a grouper filet, she never had that type of fish and she really enjoyed it. The view of the water is nice. Saw a turtle and couple boats motoring. A very nice Sunday lunch, thank you guys!

Food was good, service was great. We had a group of 12. Prices are a little high but I understand that with the wholesale food prices going up all the time. Will go again.

We went here last week for my Dads 70th birthday. I’m from PA and had never been here before. The restaurant itself is pretty nondescript inside with a beautiful river front view. However, Todd made our night! He was super friendly, gave service that was above and beyond! The food was excellent! The portions are generous for the price and they have offerings that aren’t standard restaurant choices. Will be back on my next trip down!

Fine dining with an Old Florida vibe, right on the beautiful Withlacoochie River in Historic Yankeetown, FLA. Originally built as a hunting lodge in the early 20th century for a bunch of Yankees from Indiana (thus the name), Blackwater now serves as an off-the-beaten-path dining experience that is well worth a short detour off US HWY 19 or a longer drive from Gainesville, Ocala, or even the Tampa area. Great menu, awesome river views, and an amazing HH with drink specials and half price apps! A hidden treasure on Florida's beautiful Nature Coast!

As you know, I am a foodie. I am pretty much in a very area of Florida. The food here. Exceeded my expectations in every way. The menu the quality the prize beautiful. Hardly recommended. I’ll be back over and over.

Hidden gem in genuine old Florida location. The service was exceptionally attentive and the food was outstanding. I was thrilled to find that someone had reopened here and “refreshed” the menu. We’ll worth the drive!

Went for lunch and it did not disappoint! We ordered the bacon wrapped dates and grouper two different ways, plus dessert! The service was excellent and the atmosphere was comfortable.

We just came back from there and it was awesome except for a couple of items that they took off the menu unfortunately. The calamari was to die for and they no longer have it. Was a great place to bring our fresh caught grouper to have it prepared for us.

Experience was good, service was good, food was ok. They give you generous portions however I ordered the Cajun snapper and it had zero flavor let alone a Cajun flavor. I was expecting a blackened piece of fish over rice instead it was a big piece of fried fish. Again....portions are big but when I order something Cajun I expect some kick.
