If you're seeking to taste true culinary excellence and to dine where the chef's passion for food is evident in every bite, then make a reservation at Bloom in Verona, NJ. The flavors here have the power to provide respite from your daily stressors. This restaurant delivers meals that never fail to impress and this restaurant consistently serves meals that captivate the senses. This is my go-to location when friends, family, or colleagues visit. It is also perfect for a low-key weeknight dinner. The meals are delicious and showcase a masterful blend of French-inspired Korean fusion cuisine. APPETIZERS: Their octopus appetizer is spectacular (they recently updated their recipe, so hopefully, they will offer the previous recipe in the future). Even the new recipe is perfectly cooked, tender, and flavorful; it's a standout starter that sets the tone for the rest of the meal. The garlic soy chicken wings are another highlight from the appetizer menu. Although the wings could be ordered as a meal, and I have often ordered them as take out paired with truffle fries, using their online ordering service Bloom Chicken. The wings are PHENOMENAL, to say the least, but I guess that should be expected when there are professional chefs in the kitchen. They strike a perfect balance between savory and sweet, leaving you craving more with every bite. I haven’t tried any of the other flavors because their soy garlic chicken is addictive, and I can't change now. Order your wings here!! The breadbasket is solid, but nothing to rave about. I order it when I’m extra hungry and craving carbs. The bread condiments change with the menus (honey butter, garlic butter, etc.). I also enjoy the bone marrow dish; however, it is a small portion and is not very filling. MAIN MEALS: For the main course, for individuals seeking reprieve from a long day or those that desire a weighty meal capable of warming the soul, & elevating your mood, I recommend the short rib with carrots. It is masterfully prepared. The meat is succulent and falls apart effortlessly, complemented beautifully by the sweetness of the carrot puree and a fancy diced, rectangle potato (the proper name: potato pave). Equally impressive is the branzino dish, which is accompanied by a cauliflower puree and curry risotto. The branzino dish is a lighter fare that is both fresh and exquisitely prepared, bursting with flavor. Each dish is artfully prepared and visually appealing. The pork belly and scallop dishes are the runners-up for my recommendations, as they are flavorful dishes that should also be noted for their rich and tasty qualities. (Please note that the scallop dish is smaller.) It's worth noting that Bloom's menu rotates and the menu is small. Hopefully, in the future, you will have the opportunity to enjoy their amazing truffle mac and cheese, a dish that has garnered much acclaim (from myself) for its rich, creamy indulgence. I hope they bring this dish back. ATMOSPHERE: The restaurant itself is small, clean, and intimate. The BYOB atmosphere is perfect for any occasion. The staff is friendly and professional, ensuring that every visit is pleasant and enjoyable. Additionally, there is convenient free parking behind the building after 5 PM. OVERALL: This restaurant receives a 9/10. They lose a point because I find myself both upset and delighted when they rotate the menu. In summary, Bloom is a gem and it's one of my absolute favorites on the east coast. I Highly recommend it! Do yourself a favor and take your mom, tell your friends, invite your coworkers, or go alone. I know I'll return for more. I was not paid to write this, and we paid for all of our meals. I lack the concise gene so I don’t enjoy writing reviews, but for excellence, I make time. I've had the pleasure of dining at Bloom on multiple occasions (indoor only), and this review reflects those experiences. Thanks for reading this far. I hope you enjoy your meal! To the Chef and Team at Bloom: Thank you for sharing your incredible talent and elevating the dining experience.

Bloom is an exceptional fusion restaurant that we wish we had known about sooner! So far we’ve only been twice but each time the service has been kind and professional, the food amazing and memorable. It’s our new go to spot for celebrations now. We tried their winter and spring menus and each time found obsession worthy flavour. On Valentine’s Day we ordered the shishito peppers twice because we couldn’t stop snacking on them. Every element of their Short Rib plate is so good, but I’d happily eat just a bowl of the carrot purée alone. More recently we tried the citrus honey chicken wings which are a new favourite! The flavour is so bold and delicious. As for dessert, the quality of their cheesecake is top tier. Bloom masterfully delivers their Korean/french fusion menu and all I can do is sing it praises. I highly recommend you try it out.

To start, the food is absolutely delicious here. The unique Korean/French fusion had some interesting and tasty options. Will definitely go back to order things I didnt get to try. Unfortunately, it was evident that they were understaffed (maybe it was just this one night? Things happen). The person who sat us was also the server, food runner, and busser; with all these responsibilities, it was impossible to be as attentive as I know they could have been because they were very sweet and polite. Despite the service, I would still recommend coming here because the quality of food is outstanding.

Edit: I appreciate the fast response from the restaurant, and I recognize that reservations would have been wise on a Friday night. I don’t fault the restaurant for not having a table available indoors and offering options at the bar or outdoors. However, reservations wouldn’t have changed the management of the technical difficulties that occurred last night, so the restaurant’s recommendation to make reservations doesn’t change my overall impression or plans not to dine in at Bloom. Still loved the food, though! TLDR: amazing food, get takeout/don’t eat in Longer version: I’m sad not to give five stars because the food here is overall spectacular. We’ve done takeout as well as dined in, and I will definitely do takeout again because the food is so freaking good. Specific dishes and service experience described below. Food highlights: - short rib (melts in your mouth and comes with the most adorable side of potato ever) - pork belly (juicy, salty, satisfying, with a deliciously sweet sauce) - bulgogi and kimchi fried rice (great intro to Korean food for anyone who hasn’t had it before and satisfying for Koreans who miss home) - shishito peppers (lightly crisp, not too spicy) - bone marrow (luscious, salty, decadent) Just Okay - bread (miserly side of butter that covered maybe two slices) - shrimp balls (nothing special) Service: for takeout, super easy and accommodating, 5 stars. The glimpse of the interior made us think we’d found our new favorite restaurant, and we were excited to dine in! Service: for dining in, without reservations, they only had seats outdoors, and in March 2024, they have 4 tents out back. The tents are theoretically kept warm with heat lamps and a clip that keeps the tent flaps closed. However, even though we arrived to an empty restaurant, the only available seats available were at the bar or in one the four empty tents. We (wrongly) went with the tent option. The heat lamp was broken in the first tent, and after they tried fixing it and had multiple people come in to press the on/off button in confusion (while leaving the tent flaps open), they only moved us after we requested it. We had already received our first appetizer to give you an idea of how long this took. Only two tents seemed to have working heat lamps at the time they moved us. Our second tent’s heat lamp also stopped working because too many things were plugged in? So we heard someone say to “only plug in what’s needed!!” and that it “should” work now. The tent eventually warmed up, but we had to make sure that the tent flaps were clipped closed each time anyone came in or out because no one else seemed to care. Management never offered a courtesy appetizer or drink (non-alcoholic since Bloom is BYOB), and I don’t know what was happening inside. However, the outdoor experience was enough that I don’t want to risk dining in at Bloom ever again and would never recommend it to anyone either.

We had early reservations tonight and we were the first diners. When we walked in the waitress told us that we had to be done in 90 minutes. My wife and I are fairly quick eaters. But when I hear something like that it can suck the enjoyment out of the dining experience. Putting that aside, we had great appetizers and main dishes. The deserts were not on par with the previous two courses. We have eaten at Bloom several times since the summer time and had enjoyed it. I don’t think that we will be rushing back.

I love Bloom. Chef Woo has put together what I think is a perfect synthesis of European and Korean cuisine. Every dish I’ve had a Bloom has been outstanding. Bone marrow with a caramelized kimchi jam? Perfect. Kimchi carbonara with shrimp? For me it adds what’s always been a missing dimension in carbonara - umami and acid. Great dish. Every fish preparation I’ve had here is delicious. Even the shishitos are outstanding. Shishitos are shishitos right? All pretty much the same? These are better. I swear. The kale salad is even great. HOW? For me the ne plus ultra is the salt and pepper chicken wings. They are my favorite wings. They are my favorite chicken. They may be my favorite food. Crisp delicious and perfectly seasoned. Available dry or with sauces. I like them dry with sauce(s) on the side so they maintain perfect crisp but you still get to sample the stellar sauces. The staff is great, friendly, professional and attentive. This restaurant is just a joy all around.

I agree with one of the other reviews that this is a Michelin star experience tucked away in Verona. Our dinner was absolutely phenomenal from start to finish. We did have to wait when we arrived however, that was only because it’s a small space, and the people that were sitting at our table continued talking well after their table was cleared. The restaurant is BYOB but they have a wonderful nonalcoholic drink menu that if you would like to bring liquor, they will leave some room for you to spike your drink (you can bring wine if you prefer). However, the drinks on their own are superb and already taste (and look) like you’re having a fancy cocktail. When we took our first sip, we thought “oh we’re in trouble, these are so delicious” we were worried that we were going to drink them too fast; however, it did not end up being a problem because the food was so incredible at times we forgot about our drinks. Our group of four ordered several appetizers to share. We had the soy garlic crispy chicken wings, the delicate squash, the bone marrow, and the crispy shrimp balls. Each dish was cooked and plated to perfection. We then had entrées of the pork belly, Bulgogi fried rice, and the scallops. Everyone was very happy with their order. Everything was cooked and plated beautifully. The staff brought us a bowl of mussels with a side of fries on the house (possibly for waiting for the previous party to leave, we aren’t sure because we didn’t complain). I don’t normally eat mussels, but these were incredible. Again, spot on preparation and the white wine butter sauce that the mussels were in could have been a soup that you would eat by itself. After we finished the mussels, we would dip the fries and bread in the sauce and even some of the pork belly and scallops in it. We were all going to share the crème brûlée but then they brought us a slice of cheesecake, as well! Delicious, again! While we would get every dish again, we were particularly blown away by the delicate squash, crispy shrimp balls, moules-frites (mussels & fries), pork belly, scallops, and bulgogi fried rice. I’m kicking myself for not taking photos of all of the delicious dishes and drinks but that’s just how good everything was. You forget about everything else, lol. I would be remiss for not commenting on the lovely staff. It felt like they genuinely wanted to take care of us and ensure that we had a wonderful experience. They were all very friendly, warm, kind, and helpful. You could tell that everyone there takes great pride in working at this restaurant, and it must be a supportive environment for them. We highly recommend this restaurant and will definitely be going back, again, in the future.

I want to first start off by saying i really wanted to love this place however the entrees really lost the mark. The pros: the service was good and overall the appetizers hit the mark. The corn soup and the mussels were exceptional. The oysters were OK; i felt like the oyster got lost in all the foam but a good effort to try to recreate something. The wings were good crispy but tasty at the same time. The shrimp were also fine. Now the major con. Both meals we got were uneatable. The steak frites was truly hard to eat aside from The fact no steak knife was given. The quality of the meat was horrible and truly disappointing. The beef kulgohi was also gross and had a weird taste. The beef was disgusting and it looked like it was intertwined similar to that of a loofa. Overall I'm disappointed and reluctant to come back.

One of the best meals I’ve ever had. Started with a delicious complimentary kale salad and a sour dough bread with olive tapenade that were both outrageously good! The charred octopus was insanely delicious, with the mussels appetizer a close second. (I may or may not have used a spoon to drink the fennel, jalapeño, cream broth). The crisp pork belly and braised short rib were both out of this world, as well. On top of that, the four individuals who served us were incredibly attentive and professional. If you haven’t tried it, it is a must! Next time I’m bringing a bottle of tequila or vodka to spike the mocktails!!!

Made reservations for a Saturday evening dinner with my wife. There's a municipal parking lot around the back. We were greeted warmly by the staff and seated promptly. The design is clean and beautiful. Right away I got the feeling that quality and pride would be reflected in the food as it was in the ambiance of the restaurant. There are tables arranged in the front and counter seating by the kitchen station. It's BYO Beer or Wine so we gladly opted for a bottle of wine from the store across the street. A great date spot or a night out to catch up with friends. This is what we ate: Bone Marrow Freaking delicious. perfectly roasted and topped with caramelized kimchi which was not spicy but more sweet and creamy which complemented the marrow nicely. accompanied with toasted baguette slices Burrata Watermelon Salad A common salad option but very well executed. lovely balance of greens, berries, burrata and balsamic reduction. the watermelon came as sweet, dense cubes that still maintained a crunch and not soggy Chicken Wings (Sweet & Spicy) Holy, the sauce is fingerlicking good. Not overly sweet or spicy, deliciously sticky. Fry game was on point. Perfection Escargot My first time eating snails, not bad at all. It came swimming in a tasty pesto-like sauce accompanied with more toasted baguette chips Crispy Shishito Peppers Ok, most places will blister and salt shishito on a pan or open flame. They fry it in light tempura batter. This is my new favorite way. A+++ Kimchi Fried Rice I am Korean, so this is the litmus test for me. Not too oily, good kimchi rice ratio, cooked well with a fried egg. Passed with flying colors Pork Belly Two thick slabs of slow roasted pork with a succulent crackle on each piece. Served with a jalapeño glaze, broccoli rabe and some kind of soaked tart apple balls (i need more). Service was stellar. Our server was friendly and sweet. Touched our table just the right number of times as most places may leave you feeling neglected or bothered. The manager greeted us as well and made us feel at home. Overall fantastic experience. Will return very soon.
