The food there is great but for me what was even better was meeting a cat before it opened and even after I was done eating the cat was still there, so I had a great time there.

Get there early, people are waiting to get in. It’s an unusual atmosphere with stuffed animals and baseball pictures motif. My wife’s fried shrimp were very good. My crab stuffed flounder was dry. I wish I would have gotten the fried chicken.

Came from Jersey for a little couples trip. This restaurant is an absolute gem. The food was fantastic. The price can’t be beat. Our waitress was attentive and sweet.

This is where we always meet with our best friends for a great meal. The food is great and so is the service. Sarah is always amazing. She always makes sure we have everything we need during our meal. She is one of the reasons we eat here, and we know we will be back again very soon.

7 fried scallops that batter fell off, and a cold baked potato. Cucumber salad was delicious. $24-26 was way too much.

My husband and I ate here about a week ago when we were in the area. He had steak and I had salmon. He could not stop raving about how nicely the steak was done. It was done just as he ordered, medium rare. He had mac & cheese and coleslaw, and I had a salad with asparagus. The restaurant is darkly lit and makes it hard to look at the menu and just to see in general. It is more of a rustic type place, and I am sure the lighting is chosen to go with their decor. We will certainly visit this place again if we are in the area.

This is one of my favorite places to eat. I had the trout with the stuffed crab meat and it was delicious.

I ordered fried chicken, with a baked potato and cucumber salad for sides. The cucumber salad was wilted and not tasty. My favorite and first piece of chicken was still pink in the middle. Only the baked potato was edible to me. Everyone else in my party was finished eating when I got it back from the kitchen. Also had to ask for meal to be free. Worst experience I've ever had there. Not good for a $100+ meal with tip. Very disappointed.

This was our 3rd visit over the last 12 months. Food and service are excellent. The restaurant is old with a warm atmosphere. The waitresses are very attentive and the food wait is not long. All the dishes, land and seafood are satisfying. The prices are as one should expect for quality. Hours are limited and only evening meals are served. Highly recommend for a special night out or if in the mood for something pleasantly different.

Drive from Winchester Only to Find the Door Locked LockedLocked Opening Was at 4 thirty, but they did not open the door according to 5 shame on them. The wind was blowing cold, so we left not to return.

Hadn't been there for many years but the food and atmosphere is AMAZING!!

As soon as you pull up to the Blue Stone Inn, you know what kind of experience you're going to have. Unfortunately, the reason for that is because the building looked like it was falling apart. If not for the signs, you would have no idea what kind of business it was. The inside of the building was very dark. They barely had any lighting, and for some reason, the blinds on every window were completely closed. It also felt very... dirty? I'm not sure how else to describe it. The waitress was very friendly. The food was okay. Nothing we had was very good, but it was all edible. There's also lots of dead animals on the walls if you're into that sort of thing. I had heard good things about this restraunt from years ago, but I feel that the quality may have unfortunately gone downhill since then. The staff was very friendly so I wish them the best, but I don't think I would go back

The restaurant could use a major updating. It is a bit dark . If you don't mind dining with deer head all over...that being said the food was excellent. My husband and I got the clamstrips for an appatizer. And the New York strip steak. Very good portions. Our waitress was Chris and she was very good and pleasant. Would recommend.

This was a great highway detour. Having come from Boston I was questioning their seafood selection (like I know what I’m talking about 🥴). Service was great. Food was delicious and very fresh. I went with the fish of the day, delicious. Their broccoli soup was very tasty as well. Only thing is their cc machine is squirrelly and they don’t take Amex which means I missed out on points. But still worth it.

A very welcoming local restaurant with fresh seafood and steak specialty. The decor was rustic in line with the local theme, and there were unique selections of food that nicely complemented the main course selection. I had the strip steak, mashed potatoes, salad and an appetizer. All were quite tasty! Thank you.

This was an interesting restaurant. We read about their delicious fried clams, but alas, they ran out of them before we got there. Instead we doubled our order of spicy shrimp and had the catfish (very good!) and steak for dinner. Our waitress was friendly and attentive. The restaurant is accessible. There is parking outside, a little tight to get in and out of.

What really makes this place is the waitresses. They are hands down the best in the area. If something is wrong they will make it right. They all are extremely efficient and friendly. The resturant is unique but warm and inviting. We always enjoy our meals and the seafood is the best around. Clam strips are fantastic. Fried chicken is worth the wait. The rolls and hush puppies are wonderful! They could expand their desert menu some.

First visit, Charming if you don’t mind antlers everywhere. The best seafood we’ve had since moving to VA 12 years ago. Shrimp cocktail (peeled in ice), I had the grilled salmon, wife had baked scallops, both done to perfection. Two sides included, nice warm rolls, beer and wine. Great menu selection with meat options too. Our server was excellent everything timed perfectly and not pasty. Looking forward to next visit with friends too.

This place is a hidden gem! I've lived in the area my whole life and I can't believe I've waited this long to try it. It's the cutest little place that I would describe as rustic charm meets hunting lodge. We visited Tuesday night and it was quite full! I can imagine that this place fills up quickly on the weekends, and for obvious reasons. You're greeted with welcoming smiles as soon as you enter the building. Our waitress was very polite and attentive, ensuring we never had an empty glass and delivered delicious hush puppies and rolls while we waited for our meal. We opted for the fried chicken and hand chopped steak for entrees. For sides we chose beet salad, collard greens, baked potato, and coleslaw. Everything we chose were cooked to perfection and bursting with flavor. And the portions were quite impressive! You will definitely need to come hungry or prepare to take some home with you. We can't wait to go back and try some seafood options!

Let's get the bad out of the way first. Very limited seating and the chairs and tables are not the best. The good. Service was incredible despite how busy they were. Food was very good and fresh. You could tell they have been making their food the same way for 80 years. No fillers, no shortcuts, no cheap alternatives. Definitely worth going out of the way yo check it out

Just North. outside of Harrisonburg VA. . Small Inn and restaurant , very friendly staff. A little pricey but , well worth it for the quality and tastiest large portions on their Fried Seafood Platters. You can have a bottle of wine with your meal.

Left much to be desired. This was highly recommended by our VRBO host & it was close by so we gave it a chance. Atmosphere is unique. Server was kind & attentive. Fried Shrimp were rubbery & seemed frozen. Cucumber salad was extremely peppery. Baked potato was not cooked throughly. Will not be back. $22 per plate is high for gross food in my opinion. I was greatly disappointed.

Was staying at the Shenvalee Resort and found this place online……and OH what a find! First, love the history and story that it’s been family owned since 1949 and currently the 3rd & 4th generation work there. The menu is extensive with some inventive dishes and classic seafood & steaks. The ambiance was old school charm meets hunting lodge, the service top notch and the quality of our meal was superb. If you’re anywhere near here give it a try!

BEST FRIED CLAMS! These (and everything) had a multitude of flavors. If you have ever had New England fried clams, this reminds us of home. The sides of cucumbers salad, baked potatoes, and applesauce were flavorful. A surprise of hush puppies with peach butter was a hunger buster, and I will never forget those. We will definitely go back and eat the Seafood combo and crab stuffed flounder.

Went for what was supposed to be a nice honeymoon dinner. Messed up my steak- medium well not medium rare. Didn’t offer to fix it. Just took it off the bill. Left only having my sides and a drink. Husbands looked delicious- wish I knew !

After a long day of traveling and not wanting to cook at the campground, we decided to check out the Blue Stone Inn. I’ll admit, the pictures online had me a bit skeptical but everywhere I read, people raves about the food. We sat at the bar and were instantly greeted by the bartender. We had menus and drinks really quickly. The first thing we noticed on the menu was the Oysters in a half shell, they were really inexpensive so we figured we would maybe get 4. There were 9 Oysters and 3 of them were some of the biggest I’ve ever seen. They were delicious and so fresh! We both ordered the rib eye, I got mine with scallops (they gladly substituted the fried with baked!), mashed and their French onion soup. He got the clam cake, mashed and corn chowder. The soups came out first, they were delicious, my onion soup wasn’t super greasy as some I’ve had in the past can be. The corn chowder was chunky, fresh and delicious. Our steak, seafood choices and mashed came out next. My ribeye is quite possibly the best I’ve ever had, cooked to perfection, tender and tasty! Both the scallops and the crab cake were fantastic! The mashed and gravy are clearly made in house. The prices of everything were extremely reasonable, portion sizes are great. I’ll be sure to stop again the next time I pass through.

First time eating here even though we've lived in the area for years. You need to be in line before they open, or you'll be waiting. Seats fill up fast, and the place is not very big. The service was great considering how busy they were. Food was good. I did not get a picture of the steam shrimp appetizer, but it is definitely worth getting! The seafood platter (pictured) is a good way to try their seafood. The oysters are only served raw. Definitely recommend trying this place out.

Always a fan since a kid of the 80s of this old skool joint. Wild game lodge atmosphere and always fresh food with good service. Still pours a col beer in a frosty mug or vintage beer stein.

Greetings all We booked this restaurant for a family dinner, 11 of us. We are visitors to the area from Canada, staying at Massanutten Resort, celebrating dad's 90th birthday. Someone thought dad would really enjoy a seafood meal; Blue Stone Inn's menu fit the bill. If an establishment takes your reservation, it is up to them to keep the customers happy. Cold soup, cold baked potatoes, mediocre/undercooked seafood for several of the diners were barely handled...some with 3 times re-heating the potato or soup, or both. Two great rib eye steak meals...the rest of us all had something very wrong with our meals. In fact, the manager came over to deal with one particularly disappointed diner....saying 'well, you ate 3/4 of it!' which was patently false, never mind the poorest customer service we've witnessed for a long time. They offered $8 off their bill. What??? It was a disaster, meant to be a special treat for dad...whose meal was also cold soup, and cold stuffed flounder. He didn't say a word. The server was doing her level best to keep up with all the returned to the kitchen courses being re-heated. It was NOT her fault, but hey, didn't we hear the manager giving her waitress grief about her failures. WHAT?? The kitchen staff could not cope, and management did not care to give them the feedback they deserved. In the end, one of our group's more eloquent members went back inside and outlined every aspect of the dinner served, and told the manager she needed to berate the KITCHEN staff, not the wait staff. A refund of $32 was given...probably grudgingly.

I have lived in Harrisonburg for the last six years, and have passed this restaurant many times wanting to go. I finally visited when my sister came to town. We were blown away with the quality and taste of the food. Everything we ordered was wonderful. So glad I finally stopped to try it!! Will treat myself again soon.

This is my first time here. The food was fantastic. The Softshell crabs were crunchy. The homemade bread they gave you came with caramel butter.

Good food usually requires advance reservations. They do have some at the counter seating. Allow a good 30 minutes to an hour if you're calling for pickup. Although if you do need to wait they are very courteous and offer you something to drink I have both dined in and done takeout. They are also courteous of my food allergies. I do recommend this restaurant

We had a party of seven. All of our selections were great- trout almondine, fried flounder, orange roughy, fried shrimp, etc. They were super busy but the service was still great. Eating "under a buck" is worth the trip!!

This visit was a destaster from the beginning. The restaurant called and asked us to change our reservation from 7:30pm to 7:45pm. We arrived at 7:40pm and did not get seated until 8:05pm. We sat patiently and waited for our waitress Sara. The owner brought us water while we waited. Sara took our orders at 8:20pm. When she arrived at the table the she gave us a list of about 5 items that they were out of that was on the menu. We all order, and in 5 minutes Sara came out to tell us they just served there last 4 baked potato's. So we changed to mash. 5 minutes later, Sara came out and told us no more cucumber salad. We changed to garden salad. As the time approached 8:55pm, a table of 3 was just getting seated. There orders were taken immediatly and wouldn't you know it there food arrived at 9:15. By this time we ask the owner how they got there food before us. She said you guys order steak, and that takes longer. We look at the other table, and yes, they ordered steak too. (that was probably our steak, they got). You see, we are all professionals, dressed very nicely, pleasant and polite, but we were african american. For that reason, I think is why the other table got there food first, and we had so many problems. By this time we were getting frustrated and impatient. 5 minutes later they started bring out side dishes, and then the main course finally came out. We didn't start eating until 9:30pm. After all the apologies, the owner offered us free desserts. Meanwhile, my sister was drinking her soda and after she finished she noticed a ROACH in ice in her cup. Yes, a ROACH, after she drank it. At that point my sister ran outside and vomited. We all got up, changed our mines about the dessert and left all our leftovers on the table. The owner did not charge us anything for our meal, but the whole experience was in my opinion was disgusting, horrible and I think race played a huge part in this.

Once years ago this was the best restaurant in the area hands down. However things have declined to the point where I will never eat there again. After calling twice to confirm that thay would be open I arrived to find them closed. So after waiting in the hot sun outside for a half and hour we're told we would have to wait another 15 minutes just to get in the door. The only thing my dear sweet mother wanted for her 80 th birthday was to go out to eat at the bluestone. So a extra double thumbs down to the bluestone inn for completely ruining my mother's birthday.

First time eating here. A real gem. Hope to return on another special occasion.

June 2022-- Back again for repeat performance...just as wonderful as last year! Tried and true! October 2021--Really enjoyed our meal. Delicious smoked trout. Potato baked to perfection! Great food, great service. Will return! Soft shell crab, stuffed mushrooms, sea scallops all awesome.

My son took me there for mother's day. Food was fantastic. Loved it.

I hadn't been here since I was a child so I wasn't sure what to expect. The vibe is much like a tavern inside. My dish was Amazing. Blackened tuna. Cooked beautifully with the best seasonings and grilled pineapple. I often get tuna and this is some of the best I've ever had. Everyone else's food looked good too. Staff was very kind and patient when we changed our orders. Had a great time. Might want to make a reservation.

YES!!!!!! You should go here...it was AMAZING food.... artistically presented, and delicious!!! The service was wonderful, extremely nice people here serving with a smile and great conversation. We had trout almondine , Mahi Mahi, cucumber salad that was perfect, baked kale, zucchini, Cole slaw, appetizer of the mushrooms! Woweeee and great local beer on tap. We will be be back every time we travel thru this area!!!!!!!!!

This place was the best meal I've had in a very long time! Staff was so wonderful! Food was out of this world! I had the shellfish combo, mushroom caps, oysters in the half shell, the dinner rolls and maple butter were so fire! Hush puppies were so good too!! Def will be back to this place when we come to the area again.

Quality scratch made menu. My only complaint was that my fish wasn't baked enough to crisp the parmesan crust but the flavors were awesome regardless. My girlfriend got her crab leg fix and we took home one of each desert. Yummy!!

Janet, the owner was very welcoming. Christine, our server, remembered us as her first guests on her first day of employment in May, 2021. Christine works another, full-time, position yet she was cheerful, efficent, and very accommodating of my request to taste two wines to make my selection. That woman moves like she is on wheels! Food and wine were tasty and reasonably priced.

The chef made "cream-of-mushroom" soup for a casserole that was so delicious it became a starter. You can definitely taste the difference in "Chef-Made" food. The stuffed trout was from another era. The entire experience was magical. I forgot all about the outside world. This is my favorite place in the valley. You must try the seafood platter. The fried oysters are mind-blowing.

This is a very local restaurant that I've been eyeing up for a long time, and we finally got to experience this beautiful place on a date night! The food was great, portions were generous! We had a great waitress, though I don't remember her name.
