I love this place! I come here once a week at least. It’s the best Indian food I’ve had and that includes every place in DC. The food is consistently delicious and for an appetizer, bread, and two entrees it’s extremely affordable! The staff and owners are so friendly, the owner and manager will always come and say hi which is very nice. Can’t recommend this place enough.

We hadn't been to Bombay Bistro for many years so decided to give it a try. We sat outside on a beautiful evening. For some reason, our food took forever to get to us -- even though people around us were served much quicker. We ordered a masala dosa which was delivered with nothing to use to cut it up so it could be shared. We wanted it as an appetizer -- which we told our server -- and it arrived after all of the other dishes were placed on the table. The presentation of the Tandoori chicken was not good -- some small pieces of chicken with nothing else on the plate. Once we finally got our food, the food was tasty. However, the server did not bring enough serving spoons so we had to ask for them -- so we finally gave up and just used the one that came with the rice. This all seemed very sloppy for a restaurant that has been in business for 32 years. The experience was not a good one and I don't think we will return any time soon.

Food was amazing. Served all we ordered within 10 mins. Tamarind twist was great. We went on a sunday and they had a sunday brunch menu. No buffet.

Worst experience. There’s no air conditioning apparently it’s been down. If anybody wants to go in summer I would definitely not recommend. Food was not so great, the portions are too small comparing to their pricing. Not worth the money spent people. Customer service and their staff is friendly.

Without doubt the best Indian restaurant in the area. I have eaten at the BB since the early 90's and I have never been disappointed. The new Sunday brunch menu has tasty appetizers and the usual delicious entrees. The Chef is truly creative and produces dishes of with unusual and subtle flavors . This is the only place to go if you are looking for outstanding Indian food.

The food is either really good or bad. An example of bad is the chicken saag since they use chicken breast and not dark meat It doesn't come close to the mark.

I love the Chicken Tikka and enjoyed trying the tacos as a starter. The food is so good and the patio seating is very nice.

We tried the Sunday brunch today, delicious!! Didn’t take any photos because everything looked exactly like the website photos: colorful, beautiful, perfect. We stuck with more traditional fare (all vegetarian) but the eggy things sounded good, too. Food was flavorful and not too salty for us. We had a very nice time.

One of the best Indian food I have had. Fish was delicate as were pakoras. Rice was fluffy with grains separate. Chicken chettinad was flavorful but delicately spiced. Topped it off with sublime creamy kulfi. Had colorful Shirkhand parfait dessert, as well.

This is my new go to Indian place. The food was excellent. Despite the seemingly small portions, the food was high quality and thus filling. We were seated outdoors cheerfully, even though no one else was seated out there. They turned the lights on, refilled water and were generally friendly. Parking could be an issue at peak times but I didn't have an issue .

Brunch on Mother's Day was pretty silent, AND IT'S A CRYING SHAME! If you love Indian fare, this is the spot to come to. If you love value for your money, this is the spot to come to. We had a rather mixed crowd for brunch, a vegan, a couple of people who don't eat beef or pork, and myself (omnivore). No one from our table left hungry, and everyone was very satisfied with their meals. I had the lamb shank and was surprised by the most tender lamb I've had. My only regret is this place is not closer to me.

Great quality Indian food centrally located in Rockville, close to town center. Very fast service turnaround ie time taken from order to getting food to table. Chicken Tikka with splendid with minimal spices and made to perfection. Dal Makhni was delicious. Lamb Rogan Josh was a bit let down - one could taste tomato puree - due to which it was sour.

We love to visit Bombay Bistro! We have been there very often in the past 10 years and will keep coming back!! The food is always very authentic, flavorful, and tasty, and the service is fast, warm, and personable. There is plenty of free parking too. And often we have been pleasantly surprised by the new introductions of innovative dishes created by Chef Vinod who truly wants to give you a great experience. No wonder this place has been a neighborhood favorite for more than a quarter century!

Amazing butter chicken and Chana masala

Restaurant has the warmth and energy of a neighborhood dining place. We found the food was carefully prepared and presented. Tandoori Salmon was cooked perfectly and so were the seekh kabob . Fresh , flavorful and wholesome! It was noteworthy that paneer was not rubbery or dry as the marination had soaked in and made for a very pleasant addition to the meal . Not surprised that this place is still humming after three decades!

Food was fresh and delicious. Authentic Indian food. Ordered a chicken dish along with a couple of vegetarian dishes from a large selection of items offered by the restaurant. Bhindi and kadhai paneer were excellent. Karhi was as good as homemade. Good service. Got personal attention from the owners. Will definitely come back again.

If you like amazing food, you have to try this place! The quality and taste is one that keeps me coming back for more.

We started with Soups (Kerala Bisque and Seasonal soup made with green peas)which are good and then the starters (Tandoor Chicken & Chicken Seekh Kebab)were just okay but the main course really disappointed us. Paneer Makhani is just spaghetti sauce with Panner. The Chicken Curry Madras felt decent after the Paneer but it was just okayish.

Food here is always amazing, and fast service. Been coming here for a long time would recommend it to anyone.

Was hesitant about coming to this restaurant as the reviews made it seem either REALLY GOOD or REALLY BAD, but the general consensus from my three friends and I was that it was "just ok". Even though the atmosphere and service are 4 stars, the food is most important to me which is why it's overall a 3. The Good: service was friendly, restaurant was bright, clean, and cute with a nice volume of music, food was served quickly, none of the food was bad. I personally liked the lamb curry that came as part of my thali set and one friend really enjoyed the garlic naan. The lemony(?) pickles were AMAZING (I would buy those separately to keep at home if offered). The Just Ok: while the servings are decently sized, none of us were wowed by the food itself which made it hard to justify the price. One friend said she had made better garlic naan herself, another friend who tried the saag paneer in my thali set said she had tasted better at Trader Joe's. Only one of the 5 dishes to my thali set was good enough to eat without pickle or chutney to enhance it. All of us agreed we had eaten better Indian cuisine at other restaurants for a better price. The Bad: we were offered a sample of the seasonal soup (pumpkin) - while this was super thoughtful and we appreciated the gesture, the soup itself was terrible, just the taste of salt and nothing else. Note: three of the four of us have lived abroad all over the world, enjoy both Americanized and original cuisines, and have many South Asian friends whose home-cooking we all enjoy at full spice.

The place is a hole in the wall. The service, meh. They close at 9p so they rushed us to order and then at 9p we asked for dessert and they said we cannot eat it there but we could take it home. It makes me wonder how well they clean up bc most restaurants close at a certain time but they will stay another hour to clean up. It is very small and the food was very bland. We will not return.

Tried a number of dishes here. The papri chaat was by far my favorite. The chicken dosa is a novelty, but okay - maybe too salty. The curries were decent. The service was nice. Plenty of seating and parking were available.

Personally speaking, i was not very happy with the food quality. Butter chicken was ok but the indian bread plain tandoori parantha was too thick. We ordeed dal tadka as well which was better than chicken but still not the best i would say. Mint paratha was stale and with a bad smell.

Absolutely atrocious food. Ordered Chicken tikka Marsala. Sauce is canned spaghetti sauce. Also ordered saag paneer. It was disgusting and after two bites thrown out. Only saving grace was the gobi aloo. Which was decent. Very small portions of the dishes and gave us a ton of rice. 1/5 Avoid.

We wanted good Indian food from this place with great reviews so bad, but Unfortunately it was just ok! The biriyani was just stewed lamb mixed with white rice, no seasonings, no fried onions which is a must for biriyani and no vegetables raisins or nuts . just plain. Chicken Tika was just ok. The mango sauce was good. And bhel puri was horrible!

As someone with Celiac Disease, I found their menu to be VERY well labeled! As always, eat things at your own risk if you have restrictions, but I didn't feel ill from this place. Bombay Bistro has very good food at reasonable prices with a variety to please those with different dietary choices (meet, vegetarian, vegan). I had a vegan dish which was delicious. The atmosphere is nice, and the service was attentive. The location is back from the busy part of Rockville which was good. We ate indoors but there was some outdoor seating which looked nice. I would go back.

Bombay Bistro holds a special place in Rockville for me. My wife and I enjoyed dining here on a Friday afternoon before the crowds. We selected two appetizers, one entree, and one large side. Each presented individual flavors, without the seasonings seeming to be duplicated, as so often happens. We been for meals - ordering from the menu and buffet and the selection of items for buffet is fresh and tasty - not over done or less quality. I love going here. We have been going to Bombay Bistro for many years - both in-restaurant dining and takeout. It is our favorite Indian restaurant in the area. It is one of the places we like to take out-of-town guests. We often order one meat (frequently a chicken dish - but lamb dishes are good too) and one vegetarian dish (aloo chole and aloo gobhi are among our favorites). The vegetable samosas (served with three different chutneys) are yummy! The dough layer is light and flavorful, complementing the peas/potatoes filling. The naan is delicious as well. We find the flavors of the various dishes to be robust and deep. The owners and staff are excellent to interact with. They are unfailingly pleasant and friendly, even when they seem to be at maximum capacity. They keep a close eye on the dining room and are attentive to the tables all being at different points in their meals. During the pandemic we have switched only to take-out, but have been pleased with both how well the food is packed for travel, and their overall attention to public health precautions. They also added a permanent outdoor dining area, which looks very nice.
