We have been to this restaurant several times and decided to go to lunch with a friend from out of town. The restaurant has great food, the atmosphere is very inviting and the waiter was very attentive.

The only reason I go here is for the chicken wings. 10/10. Dry rub, and bit spicy. Service people are so nice you'll feel like you're stopping in at your friends house for a meal.

Absolutely WORTH your time to stop in here. Food is AMAZING and the service is so warm and you’re treated like family. Definitely ask to be served by Jennifer. She takes care of you! We are from Canada and we were blown away by the hospitality and awesome prices.

I ordered two pizzas to go. The crust was hard and dry. It tasted overcooked to me !! One pizza was ham and pineapple and I believe they had run out of ham, it was all pineapple.

I've been going to this restaurant countless times for the past 45 Plus years. Great food, great people, great service. One of my favorite dishes is the seafood fettuccine which is absolutely incredible! You can't go wrong. Everything made from scratch and absolutely fantastic! As of June 2024, Google asked if there were any changes...... The answer is no. Everything is still great! Just go! You'll be glad you did :-)

This place is fantastic! An oldie but definitely a goodie! Our server was perfect. He was friendly and helpful and a lot of fun. The food was great. We had Neptune pizza, a great pastrami plus a nice side ceasar salad. It was the perfect lunch for my beautiful lady and I! Oh yeah the price was also right on. I almost forgot, my margarita was phenomenal and my lady got a beer in a frosted glass. A very nice touch!

I had the Brat Sandwich and it was good enough to make me wonder if they invented them. My Adult son got the Chicken Parm and it looked so good... He didn't offer me even one bite.

Great food here. If you can get a seat at the bar it's a great time. Bartenders put on quite a show. Lots of laughs. And u can see the cooks jamming out dishes

By far the best Greek Sausage Pizza on the planet. And it’s been the best for over 30 years. Nothing else needs be said.

Seems like a nice establishment. The food is great. I don't know who the hostess was when I went there to pick up my food, but she couldn't be bothered to look up from her phone. I felt like I was "bothering her." A late-middle aged white woman, about 5'8", with dark brown hair, in case management wants to know who's too lazy to do the easiest job in a restaurant. She was working the front at 12:00pm on 3/28/24.

This time we got a few pizzas (onion & green pepper, meat lovers) and the spaghetti with chicken parmesan and garlic bread. Everything was delicious, as usual. They also make a great house margarita.

Actually, I went to the Dinner Horn which is the other side of Bratskellar. The food idms good, service was excellent and a quaint atmosphere. Didn't have any cocktails this time so not sure how they are.

I mean how can you not love this local pub. The pizza is always the best and have a great gluten free option, A must stop when I am in the area! The Sprimp pesto is my favorite but the Neptune is the bomb also!

Old school Portsmouth. Last place in town to see people you grew up with. Love the wings. Pizza is also good. I love the buffalo chicken pizza. Definitely go you won't be disappointed.

Despite living in Portsmouth since 1991, I never ate at either the Bratskellar or Dinnerhorn before last week. First, it's surprising there are two restaurants in one, but the staff at the front door enlightened us and aimed us back to the Bratskellar. Nothing special atmosphere-wise--booths, tables--very 1960's. Our waiter, however, was wonderful! A 'mature' gentleman, he was spot on with service--never intrusive, attentive, and willing to offer advice. We never felt rushed--truly a professional. The prices are excellent for this area--what I often feel other resturants should be charging rather than the outlandish overpricing that occurs. I had a nice pre-dinner Ceasar salad for around $6.00--a friend enjoyed a decent dinner salad for the same price. We all ordered pizzas which arrived hot, not greasy, and quite yummy! One in our group enjoyed the Mudpie dessert--gobbled it down and said it was wonderful. Drinks were also reasonably priced--will definitely be back for a great night out without breaking the bank--good food, good service!

I have been coming here for years. Often describe it to others as the worlds' best pizza, though I do also have a soft spot for Tripoli's down in Lawrence. The crust has a smooth snap to it, the cheese is always full of flavour, and the sauce is a perfect balance of sweet and savory that ties it all together. My family says the chicken parm dinner is excellent as well- I wouldn't know, I get the same half cheese half Hawaiian with buffalo chicken every time. The staff is friendly and the atmosphere feels incredibly cozy. If you live in Portsmouth, this is a place you miss when you're away; if you don't live in Portsmouth, come in and do your taste buds a favour. PS: Try the garlic bread.

I have been a loyal customer for years until one day a few weeks ago, my friend and I sat at a high top which had not been cleaned yet. When Tom came over after approx.10 min. I apologized but said high tops are in demand so we sat there. I said” I don’t want to be one of those people”and he responded with”yet you are” we ordered 2 beers which he delivered after 15 min and never returned to take our order as we watched him at the bar. He totally ignored us. After sitting there for 30 min… not exaggerating, we went to the dining room. We had a wonderful server and we explained we owed for the beers but Tom wouldn’t wait on us. She said this is your lucky day, I’m not charging you for the beers. I’m so disappointed with Tom. He shouldn’t be in the business if her treats people like that. I’m reaching out now because of your advertisement on Chronical on WMUR. We have not been back since but certainly want to as for years my friends and family have been regulars. Tom should at least be reprimanded for his disrespectful and passive aggressiveness. He should definitely retire!

We moved to NC several years ago and have never found pizza to compare with the Bratskellar. Perfect crust, high grade cheeses, many optional toppings including Greek sausage. Very active pizza kitchen and ovens surrounded by the bar. Many other items on the menu as well and they are all well prepared and portioned. We've bee customers for 25 years.

Very cool pub with great wings. I personally thought the pizza tasted like it was from a roller skate park but my husband liked the pizza. The pricing is very fair and overall I would come back, just not for the pizza.

I placed an online order, I walked into the other side I guess?? And the hostess was super rude about me being on the “wrong side” and so I walked over and stood for 5 minutes in the middle of the dining room because she didn’t tell me where to talk to someone about pickup, and no one asked me if I needed help. Finally, someone asks if I’m picking up, and she tells me I should have cutlery and napkins because it’s “sloppy.” What an understatement! My pizza was in between two cardboard plates in a brown bag dripping in oil! It hardly tasted like anything. All I could taste was oil and bread. Will never return. 15 dollars for 6 slices of awful pizza. Could have gotten better at dominos or the frozen aisle in Walmart..

I ordered a take out pizza and root beer. The pizza was good and reasonable. The real winner was the root beer. I would stop by just for that.

Arizona native here, came to the east coast to visit family and stopped into this awesome pub with some family.. amazing. Loved it.

I met up with a few family members and we each got a pizza -- the meat lover's, the pineapple, and a green pepper and onion. They were all great, as were the draft Stella and the Black Russian cocktail. The pub atmosphere is always nice.

Love this family owned restaurant for more reasons than one. The beer is the coldest on the seacoast the pizza is 2nd to none and the Italian sub is TO.DIE.FOR. We love the friendly staff and low lighting!

Love this place. Hasn't changed since I was a kid. Food is great service is great. Pizza is always delicious and the beer is always ice cold. Still love when you take a pizza home the classic two plates wrapped in the paper bag. Hope this place never changes.

Draft beer is great here, the pizza Not so much. Place floods a lot, smells of mildew.

Lots of comfort food here that didn't disappoint. My personal pizza had a crisp crust and the mushrooms were fresh. There's a casual rustic atmosphere, seat yourself, and a family friendly vibe. I'll definitely go back.

Food was great, chicken parm was very good and it came with a large side salad. My wife had French onion soup and chicken tostado for her entrée and really enjoyed them. Service was great as well. The only negative is it really needs a complete remodel. The dining room is very old and dated looking.

I truly do love the brattskeller restaurant however yet again the waitstaff has ruined my night out.. seriously though being told that the table you chose to sit at is making the waitresses job more difficult and then having the bill shoved in front of you when you were still eating the pizza she shoved in a bag is deplorable. Seriously Jen P you might be better suited in a different form of employment. We I absolutely love going to the Brat , but lately... the beer choices are limited and the wait staff knows nothing about the beers on special. The food is always good however if you're lucky enough to have Judy as a waitress you can count on getting something you didn't order thrown at you as she walks by . I know not everyone can be as amazing as Mark.

Jittos was closed due to remodel and I really wanted pizza. I’ve ate here before but couldn’t remember if the pizza was good. Well it’s down right terrible. I would have been better nuking a express pizza from the gas station. This place has great reviews but I’m assuming not for their pizza. Overcooked like cardboard. A tiny pizza wedged between two plates put in a paper bag so it can get cold before I get home. Yuck

Fantastic food and a cozy atmosphere! The wings were delicious. The Bavarian pizza (loaded with sliced bratwurst and onions) was just AMAZING! We ate it right away and never took a pic. You'll have to take my word for it! 🍕

I have seen at least 50 thousand commercials on television about this establishment ... kidding on the amount I sat at the Bar there service was great I tried 3 different kinds of draft beers all were served cold.. Very Important I enjoyed meeting a person whom called himself Buddie. A person who goes there a lot. The woman who was next to me was the most Interesting conversation that I have had in years...eye opening on her employment I ordered a smoked turkey sandwich... it was perfect very very well put together sandwich ... Very tasty I will go back again for sure John

Service was good,but for me the pizza was not.Very small,and it appeared to be a frozen crust.That said,I'd rather have one from the grocery store.Perhaps I'm used to New York style pizza.I was disappointed,as people raved about it.

Food is always great but astonished at the experience I just had on takeout when I was told I can’t pay over the phone. I’m without my cards and picking up dinner for my family (who is currently without power) on the way home from school and now they’re telling me I have to drive 20 minutes out of the way to get a credit card and double back if I want to pickup my food. Too many other great restaurants out there producing quality food with the service to match.

We love the Brat! It's not for the uptight crowd; it's loud, the parking sucks, and I wouldn't have it any other way. If you are looking for something a bit classier I would suggest going next door to the Dinnerhorn. The food is perfect for pub food. Smaller plates for some things but the prices match that. Some appetizers are still as low as $4.95. Their pizza is their star attraction and is known throughout the area. The pies pack a ton of flavor and the menu has some inventive recipes. The Aegean Pie was delicious, although a bit salty between the kalamata olives and greek sausage. The service is great and treats you like family. It is the perfect place to unwind with a drink and budget-friendly food.

Best wings anywhere if you can handle the spice, and they're baked in the pizza oven 😋

We went for lunch for the first time. The food was awesome...... The onion appetizer portion was huge. I had to take it home. We WILL be going back. The waitress we had is the best. I wish I had her name..... It was very busy but she handled it like a pro....... Thank you for the great time we will be back!!!!!

I've been visiting Bratskellar for years now and keep going back for the good food at a good price. There is a quaint and charming yet casual tavern feel- a great place to have a cold beer with friends or a meal with family!

I've been many times. Always great food and the best prices. Waiter was exceptional.

My family and I were back in NH for the first time in 15 years. It was so comforting that despite all of the changes to the Seacoast, The Brätskellar has remained blissfully the same. My go-to of The Bavarian pizza and a Tuckerman's is as always fantastic. Our server was fantastic and I swear she worked there all those years ago. May The Brätskellar live on forever.

A New Hampshire icon. The absolute best pizza. Hand tossed crust with generous toppings. Each pizza is a personal small size pizza. This restaurant has been in Portsmouth since 1960 and has made it thru the pandemic. The locals love it and keep it going ! You'll love it !

I honestly can't say enough good things about this place. My parents took me here when I was a kid, I take my family. It's a Portsmouth tradition. All pizzas in life a compared to Brats. And the staff... wow, some of them are my favorite people.

I remember when friends or family would come into town and this would be the place you took them out for a laxed meal to. Recently my wife and I would make this our Friday night go to while our daughter was out with her grandparents so we could untangle after a hectic week. I regret to say that this past Friday offered an experience that will keep me from ever going back to this place with my family and friends, and for the care and respect I have for others I will no longer recommend this business either. Customer service, phone discipline, cleanliness, and quality are major areas of needed attention. I have traveled to many businesses around the world as part of my career to rate them and write about them in their local towns paper's and I will take my recent experiences here and take the high road. This place has a feeling that radiates with the management or ownership aging and the current employees, not all are running the establishment on an hourly basis with their given emotions and lack of leadership. Hopefully this can be addressed, counseled, and reestablished before places like this become extinct and those chain restaurants move in with there big lights, commercials, quality promises, and benefit packages. Service is decent as are prices. Pasta is good, pizza is not as good as some other local restaurants.
